We purchased a 2019 Ram 1500 Big Horn from Lakeside Chevrolet and were told it had been inspected and was in good condition. Within just a few days, our mechanic diagnosed a serious pre-existing camshaft issue. This is not something that develops in a few days and should have been caught before selling the truck. When we first reported the issue, we were told the truck was sold "as is" and there was nothing they could do. Only after we explained the seriousness did they mention bringing it four hours back to their shop, something our mechanic advised against because driving it that far risked further engine damage. We were without the truck for a week getting it repaired locally. The dealership later told the Attorney General we declined help, but the offer to "inspect it" came long after the initial refusal and after the severity of the repair was already known. We also corrected the dealer's inaccurate claim about the repair estimate. This entire experience has been disappointing, and we would caution others to be very careful when buying a used vehicle here. read more

Bought a car here on Saturday and on our drive home it immediately started having issues. I picked up my car around 330pm we noticed some very concerning issues. When I made it home and began to park the car stalled immediately after putting it in reverse, the tachometer fluttered below idle range and then hit zero before I could even let off the brake to begin reversing. Then the same thing happened when I put the vehicle back into drive to finish parking. Now the check engine light is on. I made it home between 4:30 and 5 p.m after leaving the dealership. Also on the drive home I noticed that the car was pulling to the left, the tire pressure monitor on the dash indicates even pressure on the 4 tires so it's looking like an alignment issue. The defrost fan sounds like it is about to explode. They stated that they do a 172 point inspection on all of their cars however there are so many issues with this car, that I'm confused on how they missed them. They stated that there were no issues on our 5 minute test drive so the car is not their responsibility. I would recommend if you bought a car through these guys to take it out on a very long test drive and to have a mechanic look at it before purchasing. I really don't expect this review to have much effect overall but here's my experience: I contacted this dealership Thursday about a used 2008 F-350 they have/had listed and I exchanged emails and a phone call with Ron Blum. In the Email exchange I was told: "It is in great condition and, for your peace of mind, we'll gladly show you its Vehicle History Report when you arrive. This vehicle has passed a rigorous, multi-tiered inspection by our certified master technicians. We personally ensured the Super Duty F-350 SRW's maintenance is up-to-date and all fluids have been changed." On the phone I explained I'm roughly 150 miles away. The truck's sound condition was reiterated, where I specifically asked about mechanical issues, was told again great condition no major issues. Told them I'd come in Saturday because there's a fair bit of logistics, as I had to get a second driver to drive my car back if I bought it ect ect. Ron informed me he won't be there Saturday and another sales associate would be. I drive the 3 hours there with the secondary driver Saturday. I talk to the sales person a little bit, as is deal, no warranty, standard older used sale. I wasn't able to setup a pre-purchase inspection which is my fault but I honestly didn't need it. I got the keys to take it for a test drive and walking up to it I immediately noticed drops under the engine. Having some experience working on cars I popped the hood looked, crawled under it. The " It's in great condition ..." statement with a multi-tiered inspection passed, had to be a lie. Every gasket that I could see was leaking, oil, antifreeze, etc. I climbed out from under it and walked back in I asked Kyle how long the car had been in that spot, he said " not that long" I'm figuring they pulled it up front this morning for the appointment, they opened at 9am , I got there at 10:30 and the drips were forming a puddle, these were substantial leaks and the fluids were cold. I imagine they're terrible when that engine is warmed up. Handed him the keys back and said I'm not interested and left. Now, it's a used truck I didn't expect perfect by any means but I was 100% feel this wasn't a simple miscommunication or anything and that I was lied to. Those lies caused me losses in gas, 300 miles on my car, and not only my time but another individuals time as well. I'm not going to press it further than making some complaints but I'll definitely think twice about using Chevy dealerships in general as they seem to have employees who sell out their integrity for a chance at a commission. read more

Updated Review: "Warranty Forever" too good to be true... What started out as a great experience has quickly turned sour. Kyle was great - he is not your typical pushy sales man. Working in sales myself, I appreciated the experience. During the closing process, one of the things that also sold me in addition to me loving the vehicle was their warranty forever program. They also convinced me on purchasing a limited extended warranty since the car I was buying was pre-owned. With the car being pre-owned, I was told it had gone through a thorough and full inspection before being sold, as should any car. Along with the warranty programs, I felt entirely confident in my purchase. Not too long after having the vehicle, I began having problems with the check engine light. I take it back to the dealership. They tell me the cat converter is bad and needs replaced. I'm told it's technically not covered by the warranty, but they are going to take care of it. Wonderful! I'm grateful and leave happy. But eventually the light comes back on. Multiple trips later, I get a variety of answers, but no real solutions. From "they can't find anything wrong" to "it's bad gas in the car since people aren't traveling much right now due to COVID and that's what's tripping the engine light censor". Eventually, I take my car to a different dealer for a minor repair not covered by my warranty. During this time, they do a full inspection of my car and find a couple of major repairs that need done. But I was told at the time of purchase that the car had been fully and thoroughly inspected? If this was the case, I shouldn't be needing these types of repairs done after only having the car for a little over a year. When I brought these issues to Lakeside's attention, their response was 1) they also do a full inspection every time the vehicle comes in for a routine oil change (part of the warranty stipulations), yet never brought these specific repairs needed to my attention at any point and 2) well it's a pre-owned car, so.. I left my car at Lakeside again recently. During this time, I am told the cat converter needs replaced and that is why the check engine light is on. When I ask for clarification as that has already been replaced, I was ignored. They ended up replacing the cat converter. Along with that, ironically the alternator went bad and the car wouldn't start while it was there, so that also needed to be replaced. When I arrive to pick up the car, I am told a deductible is due when I was told it was covered by my warranty and not disclosed that any sort of payment was due until I had arrived. So now I am currently left with a vehicle that has other major repairs that need to be done and is not covered by my wonderful warranty forever + extended warranty I paid for. These future repairs were never disclosed to me during my purchase. But they have no problem quoting me pricing for them to do the work. It honestly feels like a cash grab at this point.. I love the car, but am disappointed in the lack of service and transparency. read more

We purchased the extra warranty just in case, but it doesn't cover anything useful (talk about a waste of almost $3k!). The service manager even said it probably shouldn't have been sold. I'm very upset with customer service. I have waited weeks for a returned phone call after the message I left and all the calls ive made regarding my lug key that was never put back into my car after servicing it. I was told they ordered new lugs and they "would be in anywhere between 10 minutes to an hour, but regardless it was on the truck and on the way to the shop." Yet here it is, weeks later and absolutely not one person has reached out to me. I now have a slow leak in my tire and am sitting in another place of business getting it taken care of. I'm thankful it didn't blow on the side of the road with my children with me...seeing as how I wouldn't be able to put my spare on with no lug key. Extremely upset with the service department. All I asked for was that the lug key be returned to me and apparently that was asking for too much. Not to mention after servicing im missing a lug on my front tire. Absolutely amazed at the carelessness of whoever worked on my vehicle. **A few hours later here I am with a hole still in my tire because it's not fixable without the lug key.........tried to reach out with an answer from you guys and now am being ignored. Should I be taking this to the BBB or are you going to correct this issue? read more
