3 1/2 stars This is a really tasty local bakery on busy Lakeview Ave. There is street parking and a private lot. I've visited this place for years and I have yet to be disappointed. The baked goods are really good especially the cheesecake and cannoli. On Saturdays I would stop in for fresh rolls. We order cakes here and they are very tasty and very beautiful. This place doesn't even deserve the 1 star! Ordered 5 loaves rye bread 2 days ahead of pickup for Mr Ely. At pickup day (12/2), employee could not find my order (which is usually sitting in a bag on the back counter). Employee went in backroom, came out stating that the bread being put in bags. Paid full price for 5 loaves while waiting. 5 rye breads packed in a bag appeared from back room after a few minutes. At my destination, 100 miles away, while unpacking loaves, noticed that they were feeling hard (not fresh) and mold growing on 2 loaves!! I WAS MALICIOUSLY GIVEN, 1 TO TWO DAY OR MORE OLD BREAD!! Was suppose to be fresh baked that day (they had 2 days notice for the order). I trusted them, as in the past, to give me THAT DAY freshly baked bread! They didn't have the INTEGRITY to admit they probably forgot to do my order and give me the fresher bread loaves displayed there behind the counter! At the least tell me it's old and sell at a discount. I WILL NEVER BUY FROM THIS BAKERY AGAIN AND WILL TELL OTHERS NOT TO ALSO. SHAME ON YOU FOR DECEITFUL PRACTICES!!!! read more

Best cake I have tested in a very long time! So I was shopping around with my grandmother for a cake, for her 70th birthday. Was basing my trip on online reviews, however, was recommended to give this bakery a shot by a local resident, which originally was not on my list. Out of all the bakeries, we traveled to, this one was the only one that actually gave my grandmother a tasting of some of the different kinds of cake they had, needless to say did not even charge us for it. Most bakeries only had one kind, and others I had to pay for the slice to even taste them. The baker was more than accommodating and friendly to us, especially to my grandmother. Long story short, we came back a few days later and placed the order with them. My grandmother ended up falling in love with their vanilla cake that had strawberry shortcake filling, which included real strawberries inside, and whip cream frosting. Their price were very fair compared to most of the other bakeries we checked out and the quality was definitely there. Highly recommended using this bakery to anyone! It's a quaint little bakery situated in the middle of Clifton's busy Lakeview Avenue (hence the name), and after an absence in the area, I'm glad to visit on a regular basis, for all of my sweet cravings! Lakeview Bakery has a selection of just about anything you can think of, from ready-to-buy cakes, whether it's chocolate, vanilla, or other, to cheesecakes (raspberry, strawberry, blueberry on request), cookies, cupcakes, pastries (apple turnovers and pies) and freshly baked bread. They also have a coffee stand at the corner of the store, average at best, but if you'd enjoy coffee with your pastry/bread, it's there. Most of their offerings are economical, just the right mood for their intended clientele, and offering a taste of satisfaction. Receptive staff, and I've never personally done a specialty ordered cake before, but from testimonials from co-workers and people I knew, they go above and beyond to ensure the best quality available! Their offerings are popular for anyone's plans for a birthday cake, or a baby shower cake, even ice cream cake if you're in that mood. One small disappointment I had was a dry carrot cake slice I've brought many moons ago, it's pretty common sometimes for bakeries to leave their food unchecked, but it didn't deter my opinion. The pastries and bread is very good. Quality is good but the service has much to be desired. I order normally a out 18-20 dollars worth of bread and pastries or cookies. The last 2 times I was there I had about 3 or. 4 bags of stuff and asked for a bag and girl just walked away a man there which I believe was the owner came over and gave me a shopping bag. Very nice guy. But today I went back and girl at counter did same thing so I asked her for a bag I did spend $16.80 and told me if I wanted a shopping bag it would be .25 come on really read more

I have been here a few times and their customer service leaves a lot to be desired. When I asked for 2 pounds of a variety of cookies the girl helping me got an attitude because I didn't want that already pre-made ones, she acted rude and nasty. I will never go back there again. NASTY, NASTY and Just darn NASTY!!! I had my first day hands on with this bakery. I was their for 11 1/2 hours decorating cakes. They use paper flyers from the streets to icing their cakes! They do not have hand soap in the bath room at all. The Men & Women uses the same bathroom with no water or soap at all. No gloves while working with ready-to-eat. These people wanted me to use my bare hands to scoop out filling from a bucket and put it right onto the cake, while using my bare hands to spread it. NO WAY!!! Their staff knows that behinds doors is nuts but won't say anything because they don't want to lose their job, fine thats understandable. Sweet heart, their breads are mostly getting dropped onto the floor so be careful with that. Also their Donuts and cheesecake are not even all that great. My little 7-year-old cousin and do a much better job to make a wonderful cheesecake. Watch out for this place because they will sell anything, even if their products are not that fresh or fell off the floor. read more

Originally I went in due to the coffee sign. While in the bakery it was too difficult to resist trying one of the amazing looking sweets. The coconut lemon roll and cheese danish were so good I had to go back in to try the guava roll and cinnamon roll. Not only are they delicious but the price is right. A beautiful bakery for the neighborhood of Clifton, NJ, This was my favorite bakery for breakfast, especially on a Saturday when I had to work at Miles Labotory or Kearfott Singer in the 70's. Always fresh & good eats. But I recently had the misfortune of making a special trip to order their 7 Layer cake for a birthday. It was not even close to what was ordered. Upon my call to complain about the $30.00 cake I was offered a $10.00 credit ?? Really ? The cake was Wrong when I picked the cake up the frosting was wrong & I was told the 7 layers of chocolate where inside, so I took cake because as long as the 7 layers where under whipped/butter cream I would live with it. It turned out from a 7 layer cake with chocolate filling & white cake to a run of the mill 1/4 sheet cake with 1 layer of chocolate pudding. SPECIAL ORDER not COMPLETE. Poor handling of the wrong cake. Beware of what you order & check it out totally. Sorry Carlos $10.00 will not cut it. I ordered something & I received something not even close. read more

I ordered red velvet cake, cheese cake, chocolate covered strawberries, and a few other items for a party around last thanksgiving. Everything was delivered as promised, very well packaged and tasted great!!!. My guests were so pleased with my deserts and asked for the phone number of the bakery. One of them who lives in NY, said she would drive all the way to get their red velvet cake since it has been difficult for her to find a place that makes good red velvet cake. Was in the area for work and saw it walking by. My wife has a sweet tooth so I stopped in to bring something nice home. My wife said it tasted "old" and "stale." I got a chocolate cannoli and it too was old tasting and flavorless. If I could give them no stars I would. I or'd a tres Leche cake, wbhich is a very moist wet cake, that I had to pay extra for. What I got was a custard cake, when I called bakery to complain I was told I had to wait till baker to come in, next day I called no baker again, third day he calls me and tells me that that is the way they make that cake, and if I wanted any type of discount, I would need to bring cake back. The cake which at this time 4 days later was in garbage, so plz don't order that type of cake cause u will be highly disappointed, as I was.
