It made for a very messy time and I couldn't enjoy it the way I should have. My girlfriend's shake was ok but the oreo pieces were way too big. The shake was more like a McFlurry or Blizzard rather than a shake. It still tasted great, but if you order a shake you should get a shake. A friend ordered fried Oreos and they were fantastic. I'd definitely get these again. My brother told me their fried Nutter Butters are even better. Service was average as were the prices. My experience wasn't bad enough to completely turn me away, but next time I'll have to try some other things on their menu.

Inside the venue is a true classic bakery atmosphere and while there is usually a line, the service is brisk and moves fairly quickly. If you want to impress your holiday season guests, family or friends, the LPS is the right venue for traditional Italian baked goods and desserts! As i return to NJ for the holidays, I will make at least three or four stops at LPS. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

I had a private cake and sip party for my sister's birthday at Polkadot and I can't say enough great things about the event!! From the moment I first contacted Arlene about it she was nothing but helpful and (timely!) responsive to all of my e-mails and questions. We had Jaleesa as our cake instructor and she was awesome too! Very helpful, patient and personable. The event included everything we needed to make our cake design, we each got our own cake with our own flavors!, snacks (like cheese and crackers and veggies) and all plates/napkins, wine glasses and wine opener (which I didn't even think of!). All of the girls had so much fun too, I got a lot of compliments on the event. As if that wasn't enough for me to already be won over, the next day I cut into the cake and it was delicious! I would recommend this to anyone - either a private party (you need at least 6 people) or one of the monthly public cake and sips that they have. read more

5 Stars!!!! I have to say, we've ordered from many local bakeries before. Probably more than I wish to admit. We were referred by a friend of ours to use Polkadot after we went to a 1st birthday and inquired about who made the cake (which looked incredible). Long story short, web ordered for my parent's anniversary party of about 40 people. Cake came out awesome! Delivery was on time and working with Arlene was nothing but a smooth and painless experience; this was one of the reasons we were looking for another place to order from... And we truely lucked out. ABSOLUTELY AMAZING! Arlene did our wedding cupcakes and cake as well as the grooms' cake. Everything was gorgeous AND delicious! I came to her with some vague ideas and the outcome blew our minds! We couldn't have asked for anything more! Our guests were raving about the cupcakes. On top of baking scrumptious desserts, she's extremely responsive during the planning and set everything up perfectly the day of the wedding. I found Polkadot Cake Shop through google search when I decided last minute that I wanted a cake for my coed baby shower. I messaged Arlene with a picture of what I wanted and edits/additions to the cake. The cake was New Jersey Devils Hockey theme. The cake was not only visually amazing, but very tasty! For my Aunt's 90th birthday, we ravished an absolutely stunning cake that was even more delicious from the Polkadot Cake Shop. Fresh sunflowers (my aunt's favorite) adorned the vanilla iced cake with chocolate and buttercream filling. The cake was topped with a gold "90" that was just perfect! We came in maybe about a month and a half before the wedding for our cake tasting and it was a fun little experience. You pick which cake/filling combinations you want, and they bring out little cupcake versions of it on a tiered plate. My only gripe (which was minor) was that there were options that the Tides included in our package, but we had to pay extra to sample at David's (i.e. red velvet). We did end up picking that as one of the tiers of the cake. That is something I did appreciate - the cake design we chose had four tiers and we were able to pick a different flavor for each tier. Top tier was funfetti (saved for us for our one year anniversary), second tier was a marble cake with hazelnut buttercream, third was red velvet and cream cheese frosting, and the fourth and largest tier was the same as our top tier. Guests were able to pick which flavor they wanted and the marble was a hit. If you have any cake florals, toppers, ribbon, etc. you have to bring it to David's a week before your wedding. We don't live nearby and luckily our florist was able to place our florals, and since we had a simple cake topper, she ended up doing that too. But just something to keep in mind. Overall, I'm happy with how the cake turned out.

The lady that answered who claimed to also be the person who baked it and owns the business said it was absurd that the cake was undercooked. Her approach on the phone was already unprofessional. When I arrived at the bakery she continued to state it was not undercooked and gave me a million excuses and continued to disagree with me. She continued to go back and forth with me while she had a client inside the bakery. I told her how embarrassing it was that she was acting this way while she had a client waiting to be helped. She said she did not care and would say and do what she wants in front of whoever. I repeatedly told her that I was not here to argue and simply get my money back. There was no motive for me to make this up and bring back a cake if it would've been edible. My family and I have made several orders from this bakery in the past and never had such an issue. I beleive one time we ordered a cake and it was really dry, but it was edible and we did not complain, and continued to make future orders. Very unfortunate that business owners scoop down to such an unprofessional and disrespectful manner to their customers. I have never experienced anything like this. As she proceeded to engage in being offensive she finally went to go get the cash and gave me money. As soon as she gve me my money back, I left. There was nothing left to be said, she was not trying to understand or reason. I would've even taken another cake if she would've offered to bake us another one for pick up the next day. Also, I rubbed some cake on her counter to show her how mushy and wet it was. She repeated to state it was not raw and continued to not want to take any responsibility. She got upset I rubbed it on her counter, but honestly she was so nasty that was nothing compared to how she was speaking and treating a customer. Please have respect for yourselves and who you give your money to. This place does not deserve loyal customers. I will never make another order here. I wish the business owner a ton of continuing success and may she receive professional guidance on how to treat her customers.

She later explained that she had just returned from vacation and did not have the ingredients needed to make what I had already ordered and paid for. That should have been communicated before she accepted and completed my order so I could decide whether to proceed, not after she made substitutions without my approval. I spent over $400+ on this order to not get what ordered. This was especially upsetting because everything was intended to coordinate with a specific birthday theme. I communicated exactly what I wanted, provided visual references in person, and paid for an agreed-upon order. Instead of following my requests, or communicating with me, she made whatever she felt like making based on what was convenient for her. My experience showed me that she prioritizes her own choices over what the customer actually orders and pays for. I'm sharing this review to warn customers who need specific designs or details for an important occasion, providing clear instructions and reference photos may not mean they will be followed. Confirm every detail and make sure she has the correct ingredients before paying, because I did not receive what we agreed upon.

I picked up the cake and I remember her finger nails looked dirty but I just thought it was from the cakes. At my initial first look of the cake, I liked it. I left it out in the shade, it was an outside party. When I looked at the cake, my daughter's name looked like it was slapped on by a child and the top fondant swirl on top was uneven. No big deal... When I finally cut into the cake, it was very hard and seemed very dry right away. Not a typical moist cake. I honestly had no desire to even taste it and felt bad distributing it out. I had asked a few people how they liked it and they even said it was dry but the icing and everything else was good. I think they tried to be nice. I messaged SJ telling her I was not happy with it and even my guests felt the same. She was speechless and her feelings were hurt that I didn't like the cake. When she asked what she can do, I told her I wanted 50% off. Since most of it went in the garbage too. She eventually became very defensive and blamed me and saying something about the butter and how it didn't melt in the shade or how I should've left it out longer..? Which I never heard of and also saying she uses fresh ingredients and all her cakes are fresh and she puts in a lot of time into each of her cakes. I do believe her so I don't understand why I felt my cake was so hard and dry. Her husband even messaged me too. I even showed her screen shots of what my guests said and how they agreed that the cake was very dry. She didn't like that I sent her what my guests said. I USED to highly recommend this place to my friends and family because of their danish. My co-workers and I luv their danish so much that I USED to drop by before work and bring it. I would wait for them to open around 0630 and buy a few danish. ONE DAY, I bought a dozen of Danish and the OWNER gave me attitude. He told me that I should've called the day before. He said now he has to make another batch for his other customers because I almost finished it all. His attitude was not right at all. Why would you tell your customer that? Instead of being happy that someone bought a whole bunch of your product so early... he was the opposite. The very thing I recommend in this place is their DANISH ONLY. Other products including customer service (OWNER) are dry and stale (esp cupcakes)
