This center welcomes seniors (age 55 and older) from the Irvine and nearby communities. Membership is $40 annually but is not required to take part in its service programs. Various activity programs including dancing, ping pong, billiard, bingo, arts and craft, computer and etc. There is Also a lunch program served at noon Monday to Friday (a donation of $5.00 is recommended) that requires reservation 2 days in advance. The lunch usually includes a main entree, drink and a fruit or dessert. The center is quite spacious inside and outside. Next to the center is a rose garden with hundreds of rose bushes that bloom all year round. There is an area with several exercise equipment that one can test one's physical ability. Surrounding the center is an extensive lawn area with paved walkways that leads to the Ward Park adjacent to the center. The park has 3 hardball courts, 2 basketball courts, a pavilion for shelter and a separate restroom building. The center is also closed to the South Lake and can be reached by a bridge from the edge of the park, cross the roadway to the north side of the lake area where you can enjoy the tranquility of the lake neighborhood. The senior center is also right next to a senior day care facility that provides day time care for needed seniors. I recently took my parents to visit this center and it exceeded my expectations. The front staff was very friendly and gave an overview of the facility and programs that were offered for seniors age 50+. They have a few special events that require payment but the major of their offerings are free. You can use the table tennis tables and pool tables for free and you can sign up for a multitude of free classes as well such as crafting, tai chi, how to use your phone, and dancing. There is also a lunch program run by Agewell. You need to reserve your spot two days in advance by either calling their phone number or going in person. Lunch is $4.00 for seniors (60+) and $6.25 for non-seniors. The lunches are relatively healthy and reasonably tasty. Portions are good. You usually get a protein, veggies, whole wheat bread, fruit cup and tea or milk. The facility looks to be well maintained and bathrooms are clean. All are equipped with automatic doors for the entrance. The parking lots are large so you won't have a problem finding a spot. There is an outdoor seating area if you just want to lounge outdoors. read more

I visited the Center to see my Mom's photography class exhibition. The photos were displayed on the walls of the center. An auditorium was used to seat people, where they ran a video display of the photos. The class brought in food and refreshments and there were several tables where people could eat and chat. The Center appeared clean and the person running the front desk was nice. The Center includes a game room, meeting room, two multipurpose rooms, a craft room, the auditorium I previously mentioned, a studio, a café, a kitchen, a patio, and a rose garden. Dance, fitness, and music classes are available. A picnic shelter is nearby in Mike Ward Community Park. This facility used to be very good until Rober left. They made some rules are ridiculous. For example, table tenist rule. Since there are too many seniors want to play table tenist . They made a rule which is player must register on online up to eight players per section (two hours). If ONLY two registered players showed up these two players can refuse to share the table with other players if no one register in five minutes after the section started. In an other words, these two players can occupied the table entire115 minutes because other players missed five minutes register window! A reasonable approach would be to do the opposite: if a player who registered online does not show up on time or after five minutes after the section starts, they should lose their spot and have their spots filled by other players, up to a maximum of eight.There is aonther Simple and fair rule which is first come first served up to eight people like billiard room. Except for the unreasonable rules, they also have some attitude issues. For example, One day they refused to set up the table tenist tables in the vacant rooms in morning time , the excuse they gave to us was the room had event on evening 5PM. We asked them how many hours they need to set up a small room? After a big fight, they agreeed to set up one table for two hours finally. read more

I really enjoy coming here. I come almost every day and play billiards with the other adults there. To my surprise, everyone there is friendly and really easy to get along. Lunch provided by Rose Garden Cafe every day at 11:30am-12:30pm. Very tasty and enjoyable. Menu changes every day. $4 suggested donations for adults ages 60 and older. $5.25 fee for adults ages 59 and younger. The volunteers that work there are friendly and pretty helpful. There are also many programs available for adults to do, some free of cost, others for a low cost (yoga, guitar lesson, floral design, mahjong...) Every one can fit in here! I really appreciate all things that happen here!!! If you are retired and really have nothing to do, I highly recommend coming here and at the very least checking it out! read more

I've been here numerous times giving presentations to the seniors here at this facility. From what I know, a great place for any senior living in Irvine to come and enjoy the resources afforded to them. There is a small gym, internet computer lab, room for bridge games, cafeteria, and a huge park to stroll around in nearby. There are various classes and outings available, and fees, if any are based on the activity and is minimal. Free shuttle rides are also available with stops in and around the city. read more

Rude senior at the front. Seriously rude. Was unable to ask questions regarding volunteering for the senior center. The senior at the front would not allow my client or myself ask questions regarding any help we may offer toward the senior center. She senior said the center was closed for business and the volunteer student was willing to offer information on how she became a volunteer possibly thru her school. Hopefully the center will get more complaints on this particular senior volunteer so they put a more welcoming front desk person. This place is a turn away from just the mean and rude " front desk" person. When we find out her name we will make sure to post or call about it. read more

Somehow I ended up bringing my kids here with my in laws to have lunch here. The lunch , facility, and the staff were great. Half the seniors are nice. The others are super grumpy and aren't welcoming of kids. Old people that just want to be around old people. One poor twenty-something year old had to play bad cop and ask me to have my kids refrain from playing on the pool table. I guess I shouldn't instruct my kids or watch them closely. Crusty old man couldn't tell my kids whatever was on his mind so he had to have staff do his dirty business. Then my mother in law wanted the kids watch old people get on the bus. Too bad they were running around like kids do because then this crusty old couple reading their newspapers asked them to stop running around because it was dangerous because of a concrete wall nearby. Whatever, I'll probably be grumpy too when I get old because my corn flakes aren't crunchy enough or my stool is giving me fits. Wait, that's already happening. Lol. read more

This is a full service senior center which also holds events for kids through adults. The facility is located on a beautiful and large park site. It is modern with many rooms which can be rented for meetings in several meeting rooms or for large events held in their event hall.Everyone is so helpful and friendly. There is a room dedicated to resources and referrals. . Along side this building is an adult daycare center. There is a local bus for those who qualify that will pick you up and return you home for meals or to attend other activities. I highly recommend that anyone looking to get involved can volunteer or participate in their many activities. they provide a booklet each month about what's going on; trips, festivities, clubs, speakers, etc. I have met with lawyers, financial advisers, medicare representatives, gone to classes. They have a computer room with an instructor. Too many options to list here. If you have parents over 50 and they want to get involved, learn things, make friends, play cards, etc, I'd recommend you meet with me at the hospitality desk or anyone else who is there to show you.
