Went here to order prime rib for thanksgiving dinner. Ordered a week ahead of pickup. The Butcher suggested the right amount for the meal and seasoned it and wrapped it for us. I used to order all my meats from here. After calling before Christmas about prime rib prices, Kenny the butcher basically told me to kick rocks and went on this long rant about how good his meats are and if I want good prices to go elsewhere. Well, no problem Kenny I will no longer spend the hundreds of dollars a month on meat at your place anymore. You get a bunch of useless meats in there anyways. Frozen meatloaf mix and frozen chuck steaks, frozen hotdogs, and whole frozen chicken pieces. I'll gladly buy the meats I actually want to cook at the supermarket now. We bought a meat box from here because so many people raved about. Before we bought the box we had stopped in a few times to just buy a couple tri tips or New York steaks and they were decent but seemed over priced. We decided to try the meat box due to the good price hoping that we could start a regular order. The meat we got went directly into our freezer once we picked it up. As we defrosted different pieces some would be fine and some started smelling rotten. To the point I ended up taking it all out and seeing what was good and what was bad. 75% of it was bad. Never again will we ever get a meat box here. I recommend ONLY picking up what u need for the night. read more

One of the best businesses in Lake County. We love to order our prime rib, turkey and OMG the bacon is the best, and I don't even really like bacon lol and don't even get me started on the chicken! It might be a tad more expensive than chain grocery stores but when you think about the fact that you are buying PRIME and CHOICE cuts it's actually cheaper than most every where else. I find it difficult to support a business that claims in a recent interview that business is better than normal during the coronavirus pandemic while at the same time admitting to working with fewer employees; and blaming the recent increase in the minimum wage as the cause for letting those people go. People are living paycheck to paycheck and you are admitting to rebuilding cash lost during the wildfires at the expense of employees who depend on their hourly wages. I have been watching WAY too much Andy Griffith on Netflix lately and dang Aunt Bea keeps making fried chicken for the prisoners which makes ME want the stuff. I've eaten a few places' fried chicken lately and yesterday, when picking up meat at Lakeview Market, I saw fried chicken. Hmmmm. I thought I'd give it a try. Lakeview Market is really a butcher store that has the normal stock of groceries. While you can get your regular shopping done there the star of the show is an incredible butcher's counter with a real genuine staff of enthusiastic people behind the counter that actually know what they're doing. The prices for the meat are great, particularly if you take the quality into mind, and this is the best place for meat for probably 100 miles around. I've learned that the best tip is to go in and tell the guys behind the counter what I'm doing (barbecue, smoker, etc.) and they hook me up with meat that makes me look like I belong on the Food Network. Their rock stars make me look like a kitchen rock star. So I was picking up the aforementioned meat as well as some other groceries and there was fried chicken in the deli case. Oh, did I mention the cool little deli in the back of the store? Yeah, that's there too and the butcher's sister can bake like a superstar. While I don't know what Aunt Bea is capable of, being a fictional character and all, I can say that this is the best fried chicken I've had. Anywhere. It's tender, very moist and has a good crust on it. If fried chicken were a drug Lakeview Market would be my dealer of choice. Lakeview is an unassuming place. From the outside you'd never know how great some of the things inside are, including the staff. While this isn't the Disney-fied grocery store with high prices on marginal items most city dwellers are used to, it's a great country store that's been here for many, many years, and has the stuff you'll need at fair prices without fake cards or membership programs or any of that nonsense. A strange store. They actually have a great meat department with a really competent butcher. If you are looking to pick something up to BBQ, get it here and save yourself a trip to the other side of the lake. Otherwise, there's a little bit of everything, but don't expect to find many "specialty items." There are no windows in the place which likely contributes to the constant musty smell. He said his prices were lower than Safeway's. Being a skeptic, I went around the store and jotted down the prices of 15 popular items. The next week I compared the list with the same items in the Lakeport Safeway. Lakeview's prices were for the most part the same or lower. So I've been to lots of weddings in my time - just this year I've been to 5! The food across the board at weddings in my experience is normally nothing to look forward to. Hell I went to a multi-zillion dollar wedding with freaking ice sculpture that had the food I could barely eat! Yes, I know. Of course I would think that the food for my wedding was the best. But seriously folks. Our guests raved about the shrimp and the quality of the meat! Simply put, they provided an amazing catering service! Right after we met with Kenny and Dena, we knew we could trust them with our wedding meal with no worries. Best meat you can get!! Its a nice family business with employees who really know their stuff! The deli has everything you could want for food on the go. They also make HUGE take and bake pizzas that will feed a family of 6 and still have left overs. They also have an AMAZING catering company that is like no other. I used them for my wedding and they did a sit down served meal for 350 people and it was perfect. All the guests loved it and raved about how amazing all the food was! I also just used them for a fundraising event this past weekend and again they did not disappoint. They even supplied us with plates last minute because the ones we rented would not work for us. This is just a couple blocks away from me. Walking distance. I go here in the summer a lot. The hot food is always good, as are the sandwiches. I've heard good things about their pizzas but I've never personally had one. The corn dogs and chimeys are some of my favorites, plus i have a free sandwich coming my way because they give you a punch card and they punch it every time you get a sandwich. Its freaking awesome. The service is amazing. The people who work here are friendly and will hold conversations with you as they work, assuming you strike up conversation with them. The variety in the deli is good. Lots of meats and cheeses to choose from, sweets as well as salads. I love this place, not only for convenience, but also taste and atmosphere. A cute little market that is expensive!!! $6.99 for a regular clover 1lb pack of cheese! $3.79 for turkey or chicken hot dogs! The reason they get 3 stars is because of their meat department. They have a butcher there daily cutting up fresh meats and you can get whatever you want! They also do meat packs where you can pick a package and what kinds of meat you want...way cool! It is hard to find a good butcher shop these days, or at all for that matter, most of our meat is already cut and plastic wrapped before we see it.
