The prices for what you get is ridiculous, and the atmosphere is rustic and western. You would think this was Steak 48 or Mastros looking at the reviews and seeing the prices. They could learn a lot from them. My husband had the ribeye ($95) that was over cooked and burnt tasting. My salmon ($58) was dry and the flavor (tasted pre frozen, not fresh) was lacking. The "wedge salad-".. the menu states "wedge salad" ($26) was very sparse and made with little gem lettuce (5 whole leaves), the summer melon salad ($24) was watermelon cubes with 4 cherry tomato halves with a tiny bit of basil chiffonade with topped with some inexpensive balsamic vinegar. My I had a cosmopolitan which was good, however the waiter suggested my husband try a margarita (found the price was $28.00 when the bill arrived!) . The waiter gave us a lesson in ordering steak. When my husband asked for medium rare plus, he said there is no such thing. He boasted about being a server for 10 years and that there's no such thing. He said it's an insult to the chef. Well we've been to many restaurants and many upscale Michelin restaurants and no one has ever corrected us in how we order our steak temperature. But thanks for your sage advise! Stepping inside you'll find a nice market with many different products such as produce, a small salad bar, olive bar, groceries and drinks as well as a deli. Everything looked really good quality. We chose two Tuscan veggie sandwiches which were already prepared in the deli case and looked incredible. The helpful deli counter employee recommended that they were best heated up and offered to do so while we looked around. Soon our sandwiches were warm and off we went. The sandwich was delicious. Absolutely a delight to the senses. Visually it was fresh and vibrant. The layers were impressive. The taste, amazing. The olive tapenade, pesto, greens and veggies were delicious. It's been a while since I've had such a delicious sandwich. We both were saying "yum, mmm" with each bite. Epic sandwich. The service was great. I highly recommend Shelton's Natural Foods market.

I really love this market because it's so food-focused, which is like "duh" with all the beautiful farms in the immediate vicinity.. but many of the "farmer's markets" I visit at home in DFW are overrun with crafts, so it's nice to be at one that's truly focused on local farmers. We bought fantastic green garlic, onions, asparagus, shiitake mushrooms, kiwis and bananas, apples, grapefruit and oranges, fresh rosemary, orange marmalade and cranberry pepper jam, a white lemon balsamic vinegar, our favorite Valley Ford farmers cheese, a lovely strip steak, and a bouquet of flowers to enjoy during our short visit. We thought the prices were great and even a bargain for the quality of food. And we got a little purple Healdsburg Farmer's Market t-shirt for Winnie!

It includes a hearty combo of grilled chicken breast, red bell peppers, caramelized onions, provolone cheese, lettuce and tomato on a focaccia roll. When you get inside you'll see the varieties of cheeses available which is extensive. A little further in they have a decent sized salad bar with fresh looking veggies and a few prepared salads. There is also a warm items bar in that area. The deli is large and gets quite busy during lunch time. They have a few curated sandwiches on the overhead board or you can make your own. Take a number first if they are busy and order when called. They are pretty quick as our sandwiches were ready in about 5 minutes. I had a giorgi park (vegetarian) sandwich which came as a panini with great flavors and fresh ingredients. SCW had the veggie sandwich which was also really tasty. They have a burrito and pizza line as well. I got a vegetarian super burrito bowl which you can customize. Similar process as chipotle style. Everything looked fresh vibrant. The wine selection is varied and has some appealing options. The middle portion of the store is similarly set up like most grocery stores, cans, waters, cleaning products etc. The produce section is nice with good variety as well. You can find tofu and fake meats near the produce section. The store is clean and well lit. They have tables outside if you choose to eat there. The employees are very friendly and helpful. I definitely recommend giving Big John's Market a try.
