I could not taste the plantains since they were cooked the way I prefer and thought I was getting what I considered to be traditional tostones cooked in little chunks with cinnamon. LALITO'S MEXICAN BAR & GRILL is the best by far for chicken fajitas, and more. One big reason: they use chicken breast strips - so you know that you are getting pure breast meat - minus the grizzle or other chicken parts mixed in. It's 's a turnoff to be served a plate that is difficult to distinguish the breast meat from other chicken parts. Another reviewer said their peppers and onions were overcooked. Guess what. That's exactly how I prefer them! If you prefer lightly grilled or "crisp tender veggies", specify that upon ordering. The kitchen will gladly oblige and it's often "Mingo", a.k.a., Domingo doing the magic in the kitchen. Prefer a lower-carb meal? For an up charge you can replace the rice and beans with sautéed vegatables. Be SURE to ask for gently cooked if that's your preference. I take mine home and use as a side for another meal. Their soups and vegetarian combos are favorites of mine also, and their Sopapillos are terrific. Been coming here since before Lalo bought the restaurant and made it "his own". So our server Jorge was GREAT. My friend accidentally spilled her drink all over the table and he rushed to clean it up and helped us. The atmosphere of the restaurant was chill but as it was 12 on a Sunday it was really dead inside. However, the food was the most bland food I've ever tasted. We were so hungry after sitting at a graduation for hours on end and we really wanted something good. We picked this place cause it has good reviews on Google (like 4+ stars) but the tacos I got tasted like shoe leather. It was incredibly dry and all around nasty. The chicken tacos my mom got tasted like fish apparently? Idk I didn't taste them so I took her word for it lol. And my friend's chicken quesadilla (literally the most basic easy thing to make) was also just bland and dry. We decided to eat what we could cause we were hungry. We're not confrontational people so we just paid, left a nice tip, and left. We will not be back to this restaurant. The food 1star: I ordered a few entrees for our team. There was one entree Veggie Fitos Bowl that I ordered with specificity for religious reason "no onion" and as seen in pictures, onion was there, enough to stand out! The Veggie Fitos Bowl, other than the onion, was not as advertised since it was just rice and cheese and veggies, no beans (this maybe since it's all pre made and it may have had onion in the premade beans), but it's 16.49 so I expect something fresh not premade. They said it's fresh, not premade, but clearly it's pre made, the mushiness is clear in the fajitas. The fajitas were onion and green pepper, and it was mushy veggies, it tasted as though it was either old vegetables or microwaved or overly steamed. The fajitas are more than $20 for lunch, the steak was tough enough to choke on, I tried to cut but it was very tough, and looked like it was boiled or again microwaved, this is not a descent fajitas, I'm not going back. This is not a cheap place, but the food quality and flavor is cheap! Service: the man who packed the food was nice and pleasant. He did add the utensils , I did specify for utensils in the order form, online. I picked up, the ambiance was simple when I picked up. I called to let them know that the food was not good, the person was willing to remake the veggie Fitos bowl with no onion (I declined, it was a working lunch, I did not want to spend any more time wasted on frozen veggies microwaved... We've had fajita's, burrito especial, taco's, steak platter, and of course queso dip -- they've all been great! The salsa is awesome. I believe the family that owns it now, started it a few years ago. I'd recommend trying this place if you haven't been. I Ordered fajitas and the chicken, shrimp, beef, and vegetables are literally boiled and placed on the grill for a few minutes before serving to get some grill marks. Beware. They dont abide by the menu and actually seemed to scam their patrons. Went today to get food for my family to go. Decided to get a drink while we waited. I got the skinny margarita which comes with herradura, lime, and agave. I noticed the bartender putting a cheaper tequila in my drink. When I asked about it, the bartender said "ohhh yea we don't have herradura(even though its on the menu and listed on their sign as a weekly special). But this one is just as good. It wasn't. So she went and got the manager. Somehow she found a whole bottle of herradura in a fridge just in front of the bar. Very weird. Didn't offer no concession for it and said, "oh sorry it's my first day" even though I saw her interacting with customers who are clearly regulars. Decided not to order food for the family or hospital staff where we were heading back to. Not big on paying for sketchy service. read more

Unlike quite a few COVID time restaurants, there are plenty of staff members. One negative is that Lalitos does not have a house made hot sauce. They have a bottled one that is for gringos. It is very easy to over eat because their food is so good! We ordered the Super Platillo and the Brisket Chimichanga with a small side of cheese dip to-go through UberEats. The Super Platillo is a lot of food but very good and recommended! It is all beef and comes with a taco - which is in a corn tortilla - a tamale, chili relleno, chapula (the authentic kind), an enchilada as well as rice and beans! As expected, the taco shell did became a little bit soft on the drive home, but impressively held together. The Brisket Chimichanga is very delicious - I was incredibly happy they removed the onions for me, too! The flavor was excellent and I really liked the rice that came with it. They give you thin, crispy chips with two small things of salsa, though we added the small cheese dip (around the size of a 1/4 container you'd get at the deli in a grocery store) and it was certainly worth it! We greatly appreciate they have more traditional to-go containers with a minimum of plastic and styrofoam. We look forward to ordering from them again in the future! read more

The salsa was tomato sauce with no texture or fresh ingredients. The enchilada sauce was sweet with no other flavor and tasted nothing like enchilada sauce. The lunch fajitas had 4 slices of chicken. The staff has always been polite and helpful. On one recent visit I managed to knock over my margarita right into my recently received meal. It was 100% my fault and I was profusely apologetic to the staff for making a mess. They brought me a fresh plate of food and a fresh margarita. And they were exceedingly helpful at cleaning up my mess, a potion of which I was literally wearing. I have visited this place for over a decade through different ownership.
