Lamb lamb is a small mom pop meat store where you can buy skewers or thinly sliced beef, lamb, or pork for hot pot. I came to buy sliced meat for hot pot on a Friday late afternoon. When you enter the store, they will default to speaking to you in mandarin, but you can ask them to speak English. They're quick to pack up your order and even gave me a small bundle of cilantro as a gift. Maybe it's because I came later in the day or because we bought a good amount. We tried the normal beef, premium beef, lean beef, and premium beef tongue. I would say the normal beef a bit too fatty for my liking, but that's why they offer the lean option. The premium beef is between the lean and normal beef in terms of fat to meat ratio. It's well marbled. They ran out of normal beef tongue so we had to get the premium. Pricey but delicious and definitely our favorite. Although I've never had bad beef tongue before. Overall, everything was fresh, containers were labeled, and service was quick. Prices are fair as it is still a lot more economical than going to a restaurant. They take credit card with a minimum purchase. They also sell other hot pot essentials like those chewy clear noodles, soup bases, frozen fish balls, spices/seasonings if you need to pick things up last minute. It's a nice and clean shabu/hotpot meat shop. The meats are nicely sliced. Not too thin, not too thick, and nice fat ratio everytime. Compared to other places, their cuts are tube-shape instead of just slab on a tray, so it's easy to grab when you're eating (or if you're portioning for freezer!) Beef 3 lb is $30 and they have it packed n ready. This is probably the only sliced meat around area that offers 1 and 2 lb sizes. Located next to GW market. I'm so glad to find this meat shop! It is definetly better than getting it at the supermarket. I got the 2 lbs beef and it was $21. You can as more more fat or lean on the meat. They sell their meat in 1lb, 2lb or 3lb. The more you get, you save a bit. They also sell hot pot broth and sauces at the front. The beef was really fresh and even my mother in law said so. She got lamb in a supermarket and the quality was not the same. They also sell different types of parts of the meats for bbq, hot pot and even skewers. Next time I will get the lamb and beef here. This is in the plaza with the GW Supermarket and the Blooming VIP dim sum place so parking is gonna be difficult on particular days. I got lucky tho and found a spot not too far. They have their menu of what meats written in the back. I had already looked thru the pictures and elected to get lamb ($11 for 1lb) and venison ($22 for 1lb). The venison was not written on the top menu but was written on their specials menu that was next to the register. They first spoke to me in Chinese but seeing as how I don't speak it, communication in English also worked. The deer here felt really lean when eating the next day and the lamb was a bit more fatty but so delicious. They cut these sizes pretty well and I definitely did enjoy the cuts of meat that they had. I also saw a "special tongue" of beef that I may just get next time.... Definitely try if you're doing hot pot at home! I don't have to go to Temple City to pick up my meats anymore when this place is down the street from me and it opens late 3. Prices - I usually get my meat in TC, and I have to say the prices are a lot better. For ex, the fatty beef I get at my go to is $13 a pound, here it's $28 for 3 pounds ! 4. QUALITY of the meats are soooo much better ! Last time I bought the meats (Sliced Fatty Beef & Lamb), I was pretty disappointed. The beef was old & hard and for the lamb, it tasted gamey. This time the meats tasted A LOT better --Fatty beef - taste fresh, but was too thin for my liking. Kind of wish it was thicker cuz it was hard to grab & cook it --Lamb - so good, didn't taste gamey like last time and fam loved it --Special Tongue - WOW, this taste amazing, so tender & delicious. I should have bought more than 1 pound, will buy more next time --Lamb & Beef Skewers - must add their seasoning (regular & spicy)! I mix both and it tasted great. Wow, color me VERY impressed! At first I thought no way could the sliced meat be *that* good at the amazing price ($10 a pound as of June '22). Especially when Asian grocery stores sell sliced beef for no less than $12 - 15 per pound. But wow was I wrong. The quality is INCREDIBLE. I mean look at that picture, have you ever seen meat look so picturesque? It almost looks like a movie prop. I came home late and cooked up a couple of slices just to taste and was floored. So good. Sooo tender. And the fat melts and gives such a delicious flavor. I'm so used to the cheap cuts from the grocery stores where the meat is tough and fat is chewy. I'm so glad we found this place -- I finally have a good, affordable place to get meat for my cooking. Hands down the best I've ever had. AND the best price too. Came here to grab some meat for kbbq night. Their prices can't be beat and their meat were fresh. Although there was an language barrier the second time I went, I was able to order (2) 3 lb beef - $10/lb, (1) of the beef tongue - $18/box and (1) premium beef tongue - $23/box. For the beef, they have the option where can choose between the different cuts: lean, fatty or mix (half and half). Side note, on beef tongue: difference between the $18 beef tongue and the premium is that they have left the tastebuds from the cow on VS on the premium, it's the one you usually see at kbbq restaurants. For a total of 10 adults and a toddler, we definitely had left overs. They also have skewers! I will most likely come back! read more
