We have been coming to this place to buy our hot pot meats for several years. We prefer coming here than buying at the grocery store. We like the convenience of being able to buy the trays of frozen meat by the pound and they seem like fresh cuts. Honestly we haven't tried the lamb, as we are not a fan of lamb meat. I never been to an asian meat market so this would be a first of a kind review for me but it was a great experience It was suggested through a friend of mine who enjoys hotpot as well The menu on the wall is strictly in mandarin chinese which I can't read but I do speak fairly OK I asked for beef and pork and she responded nicely lean or regular, I opted for lean which I had no idea there was that option. The menu was quite long but didnt have time to translate so Im not sure if there were different cuts or not but the meat was delicious and thin. $15.00 per set is a good amount of meat 1.5 LB per set 3 people couldn't finish 2 servings so that gives you an idea, its literally a mound of meat that comes semi frozen and ready to be boiled! Would definitely go back and try some more meats, the price is great and thin sliced so its easier to separate and hotpot it up for a party! $16 for 1.5lbs of lamb. meat quality is good, not gamey at all, and quite lean. the packaging is a bit flimsy, so make sure you go home immediately. They take apple pay and there's no minimum transaction fee (or maybe above $10-15). Service is fast and friendly. Pretty worth to buy your shabu meat in bulk! Bought two 3lbs of Beef and one 3lbs of Lamb-- total being $78 I think cause the lady didn't give me a receipt... They also speak very limited English here since they all seem to speak Mandarin, but they are sure to understand what you want to order as long as you're direct with your order! Quality-wise, it's just okay, but you're definitely getting a lot more compared to what you buy in the super market. The meat is pretty thin and kind of has a lot of fat all around, but it was still pretty tasty overall. Basically, quality is just okay, but price makes it worth if you want a lot! Our favorite place for shabu meats!! I know the SGV has a few other little gems to buy thinly sliced meats, but since we have yet to try them.. this is our undisputed winner LOL. Miao Yun is located in the same plaza and is a few bucks cheaper per pound, but i've noticed the cuts of beef are also inconsistent and sometimes significantly fattier. If you want fresh, consistent shabu beef with the perfect fat-to-meat ratio, Deerfield is the winner in the plaza. They also take card now but i'm not sure if there's a minimum purchase or not. Menu is all in Chinese so I honestly don't know what else they offer but this is what I do know: for beef and lamb, they sell the meats in portions of 1.5lbs ($13-14) or 3lbs ($26-28). Beef tongue is in portions of 0.75lbs (12oz @ $12). These three selections are our go-to's. Sooo good!! Over the last year, the prices have gone up by about $1-2 for each portion. A little bit pricey since it adds up but still a fantastic deal for the convenience, quality and amount of meat you're getting! The shop also sells other shabu ingredients but even though I have yet to try them, i've heard good things and it's a nice little one-stop-shop for your homemade shabu night. read more

Favorite place to buy meat for hot pot! This is in the same plaza as Tokyo Fried Chicken and Big Softee and parking can be hellish during dinner rush as the lot is tiny. Even before quarantine, my family would always come here. We always get beef and lamb ($26 for 3lb, CASH ONLY) and stuff ourselves at home. Way more affordable than dining out for hot pot! The employees pretty much only speak Mandarin so if you speak English just be very direct with what you want. read more

This place is still KING of the sliced means (I tried Miao Yun, VERY GOOD, one-stop-shop for all your hot pot meats) but this place still has a better quality beef slices. I will give credit where credit is due. This place has been cash only for years and years, Miao Yun opened up in this plaza as their competition and took credit cards, Deerfield Garden took notice and also started to accept credit cards. Their meat is priced reasonably similarly (just a little bit more) but I found that little extra in the price you are getting your value for sure. The meat definitely tastes fresher and the cuts aren't as fatty. They're a lot more consistent here in the beef slices. Miao Yun sometimes is very fatty to sometimes less fatty, every day is a little different. Neither Deerfield Garden or Miao Yun are bad choices. If you're looking to save a little money and not have to go to 99 Ranch to pick up the rest of your hot pot fixings, Miao Yun, they're perfect. They also have a wider selection of weight to choose from, so you're not stuck with just 1lb or 3lb of meat. You can easily get 2lbs if you want. They're very flexible with that, Deerfield Garden on the other hand isn't flexible with its weight. If you're looking for a high-quality hot pot experience with high-quality cut beef or meats or making a meat dish that requires sliced meats, go to Deerfield Garden- their meats always make my hot pot taste like it's from an expensive hot pot restaurant. Maio Yun meats taste more in line with 99 Ranch, with a more made-at-home flavor and quality to it. read more

We went into the store and a polite staff was helping us with 3 pounds of meat then the lady owner came out from the kitchen as she was on the phone . She saw my 3 other family members in the store and she said under her breath in a rude way "why are there so many people here" but the store had no other people except us. After we paid, the staff gave us back our change. The owner lady questioned the staff how much we paid and what we got and how much change she was give back to us and kept staring at us. It felt as if she thought we didn't buy enough meat for having 4 people in the store. She also made her staff and us very uncomfortable. Unfortunately we will not be coming here again. I found out about this place from LA Times. It got a great review for its Chinese bacon with garlic stems and one other dish I couldn't remember. I went there for kung pao chicken and chinese bacon and LA times was right. The price for lunch was reasonable too. $4-5 can buy you lunch special. I went back there few times and the food was not as good but it was still good. Recently I went with 3 other companions here and it was a disappointment for me. The food was not as good as before and the service was unbelievably rude. I never had problem with non English speaking establishments but don't force me to speak Chinese. The lady who took my order kept talking to me in Chinese. I kinda understood what she was saying and tried my best to communicate back to her using English, sign language and Chinese 101. She got mad at me because I wouldn't speak Chinese to her. My Chinese is pretty bad, I only speak the basic. She was friendlier to the other tables, especially the table next to me because the guy was hitting on her (in Chinese of course). Ordered: kung pao chicken, scallion pancake, sauteed string beans and chinese bacon with garlic stems. Kung Pao Chicken: not as good as the first time. 3 stars. Scallion Pancake: not that good. 2 stars. Sauteed String Beans: crunchy and sweet. 3.5 stars. Chinese Bacon with Garlic Stems: too salty 3 stars. This place has been amazing during the pandemic. They sell really nice, thinly sliced meets for hotpot or kbbq at home. The meat is very fresh! The pastry things (salty or sweet sesame things) are really good too! The quality here is amazing :) My family usually buys a few pounds of beef and lamb at a time and separate them into smaller portions at home and freeze them, then take them out portion by portion to consume each time! I've never eaten here but I've gotten sliced meats from them plenty of times without fail. They sell the meats by 1-lb or 3-lb. I usually get the 3-lb of each beef and lamb and it's enough to feed an army. At $26, it is quite a steal because you get top quality meat and they pile the party tray a mountain high. I can vouch that the trays are fairly fresh because I often catch them while they are shaving the slices on the machine in the back.
