I saw Lambert's on an episode of Phantom Gourmet recently. It's only a 15 minute ride from where we live so decided to venture over on a Saturday for lunch. This place is a market, giant salad bar, deli, calzone bar!!! and more. It's a long time family business too. I went for a traditional Italian sub as that's usually a pretty decent barometer of a place like Lambert's. It was on a very fresh braided roll, and was the size of a football. So, I do like this place and go maybe 2-3x per week for their salad bar. But I've noticed my purchases becoming really high. Today I went and my total came out to $44.10. I had a salad ($9.36), a sandwich ($9.99) and a small handful of grapes (I think $3 or $4) blueberries ($2.99) 2 apples ($3.00) 1 plum (not sure how much, but maybe $1.50 max) which even with tax should only come out to a max of $32.00. I will go back and speak to the manager about this, but I would suggest that everyone make sure they get their receipts when leaving. read more

Very upset about customer service. I wanted to purchase smaller size macaroni salad to go with a sandwich. None were in refrigerator case they had large size. Asked once about any in the back. Manager had agreed I could do that. Was charged by cashier at salad bar price of 8.99. Regular price is 4.99. Told cashier that there were no small sizes in case and higher price was unfair. Before Covid was a fantastic place for sandwiches and salads hands down. During and post Covid, prices are up by 20-25%, and the quality I'd the sandwiches has decreased by a good 50%. There used to be SO much meat in the sandwich but that's down by over 50% in some cases (I only get turkey cold sandwich.) There was enough for 2.5 sand before. Now, it's pretty much all bread with a few slices and 20% higher price. Same goes for salad bar. 10.99/lb seems a bit ridiculous for lettuce, especially when the veggies are local. Still, it's packed every day for lunch, so they're obviously doing something right. I hadn't been to Lamberts in awhile, and went in this morning for a few items. I always thought they had terrific sandwiches and decided to order one. After waiting my turn, I asked for an "Italian" Sub. The staff person, looked at me, shook his head and walked away. As he was making the sandwich, he continued to shake his head and mumble, very irate lay to his fellow staff. Clearly, he was either having a bad day, or, somehow, my ordering an Italian sub with everything, really annoyed/insulted him. when he finished, he continued to shake his head (in an exaggerated disgust) and then proceeded to shove the sandwich at me. I am writing this in hopes that he reads this, or lamberts reads this and responds. I was polite, used my manners, said please and thank you. Smiled and was patient. I have also introduced many coworkers, friends, and family, all of which are now repeat customers. No one knows quality & service like the team at Lambert's. They always make you feel welcome and the food is so good!!! The quality & range of the product is phenomenal. A stop there often saves me a trip to the grocery store & wine shop. I stopped by Lambert's after years of hearing how much I would love it and how fresh the vegetable was. I'm pretty disappointed. I was so excited about how fairly priced the vegetables were that I overlooked the lack of customer service the cashier had. Because we didn't put our purchases on the counter fast enough, she reached over the counter and grabbed the items out. Okay. I got 5 items: lettuce, broccoli, two mangoes, cucumber, and tomatoes. She bagged them all in the same bag and put the tomatoes at the bottom of the bag. My husband had to walk back in and ask for a few bags to re-bag it. On our way home, we looked at the receipt and realized she never cleared her last transaction and overcharged us. Now (two days later) I just cut open my mango and it's rotten! Lamberts has expanded its offerings in recent years to become a mini-super market. Often I can do one-stop-shopping there and avoid going to giant Wegman's just down the road. It's fresh produce is always excellent as are their sandwiches. I've never once had a bad experience at Lambert's. The staff is unfailingly friendly and helpful. We tried Lambert's Rainbow Market a couple of days ago. The commercial I had seen on TV made everything look great. Boy what a disappointment! Out of two pints of blueberries perhaps a half pint was good (firm and juicy), so I washed and froze the remainder to use in baking. The strawberries were not near sweet and the grapes were soft. The red peppers I purchased to roast were fine. Many of the items were on sale, but if cheaper is not good quality then it becomes more expensive. Also, the prepackaged lettuce, arugula, etc was more expensive than supermarket prices. We will stick with the Big Y! read more

I ordered a sandwich, on a submarine roll, Boar's Head turkey & rare roast beef, white cheddar, Dijon/mayo, & LTO. You have to grab your roll from a cubbie right in front of the station and hand it to the sandwich artist (can I call them that?). They fresh slice & pile up the meat, the bread is flavorful, soft and absolutely fresh. toppings are added and a brilliant sub is crafted. Wrapped in white paper, bound by a rubber band and slapped in your hand. It was quite hefty, and ALL of their sandwiches only cost $6.99 - for Boar's Head. I'm sold. Other offerings that I eyed included: burritos, 1lb calzones, pot roast, hot sandwich (meatballs, chicken parm, etc), a salad bar that looked vivid, stocked, and splendid, and fresh made cookies. Contrary to other reviews all the employees I encountered, and I saw helping other patrons, were all smiling, helpful, and patient with orders. This place has price gouged through the whole pandemic. They should be ashamed of themselves. A 32oz chilly used to be 9.99 then went up a dollar a few times and currently $20 as of todays date 7/25/22. How is that even legal? They did it with water and a few other items. I think people need to hit them back where it hurts but unfortunately they will ignore this review and keep buying what ever foods they get that are good. I say that because they let the food sit so long that it gets rock hard and is often not edible. You don't find out until it's too late and you get home from picking up the food after a long day. Do they not believe in food shelf life? The food only has so much time it can be left out before it has to be replaced with fresh food. If you go early and get fresh food, it is the best.
