Portions were surprisingly generous when I first started visiting Poke Bros at the Westwood location shortly after it opened. At that time, the bowls felt like a great value for the price, and the quality and consistency kept me coming back. Unfortunately, over the past year, I've noticed that the portion sizes have become increasingly inconsistent from visit to visit. Most recently, on 7/29, I ordered three Build Your Own bowls. When I got home and unpacked everything, I noticed that two of the bowls appeared to contain roughly half the amount of food I would normally expect, while the third bowl looked closer to the portion size I've received in the past. What was especially disappointing was that one of the bowls included double protein, yet it still looked no larger than a standard portion. Considering the additional cost, I expected a noticeably larger serving. There was also an issue with one of the customizations. The employee preparing one of the bowls added a very large scoop of pickled ginger instead of the jalapeño slices that were selected on the order. While mistakes can happen and this alone would not have been a major concern, it was frustrating given that the order clearly listed the ingredients for each bowl. Accuracy is important, especially for customized orders where customers are paying for specific ingredients and combinations. What made the situation more disappointing was that I did not realize the issue until I arrived home. The bowl that appeared to have the most food was placed on top of the order, while the two noticeably underfilled bowls were underneath. Had I checked everything before leaving the store, I would have brought it to the staff's attention immediately. Unfortunately, by the time I discovered the problem, I was already home. In hindsight, I wish I had taken photos because the difference in portion sizes was very obvious. I want to emphasize that I have not experienced significant issues at this location before, which is why this visit stood out. I have generally enjoyed the food and service, and that is the reason I have continued to return. However, consistency is one of the most important aspects of any restaurant experience. Customers should be able to expect similar portion sizes and order accuracy every time they visit, especially when paying extra for add-ons such as double protein. Going forward, I may need to start checking my order and portion sizes before leaving the store, which is something I have never felt the need to do in the past. I hope management can address these concerns by reinforcing portion standards and providing additional training where necessary to ensure orders are prepared accurately and consistently. I would appreciate seeing improvements, as I would like to continue supporting this location. read more

A great addition to University Station, Poke Bros is well situated for lunch or dinner around running errands or grabbing before traveling on rail on a journey. The restaurant was clean and well lit, with staff welcoming you as you walk in. All the ingredients looked fresh (and those I had I can say tastes fresh as well). Came here after work for a quick meal before heading over to Top Golf and I was pleasantly surprised by how good their bowls were. The service seemed fine and efficient, but can't really comment beyond that. The dining area was clean, spacious, and well lit. I ended up going with a signature bowl (Da Kine) since I just wanted something quick and my siblings got the spicy salmon in their custom bowls. I love when places actually have marinated fish as an option and their marinated tuna in addition to spicy salmon (actual cubes, not mush) were so flavorful even without the additional sauces. They do charge for quite a few premium ingredients since my siblings got custom bowls, but my signature bowl came with premium ingredients and for less in price. I'm taking a star off essentially for the portion size in my bowl, which was smaller than I expect for the price, but maybe it would have been better if I went with a custom bowl so I'd definitely come back to get that and see if it makes a difference. read more

Now ofc we do enjoy poke, this place was spacious, quick and easy overall. Pretty much can build your own bowl and choose your fish and your toppings. They also have some bowls already set if you don't know what to build. We were in the area shopping and in a rush to get back for another engagement but needed a quick bite. The have tuna, salmon, chicken in multiple styles. plain, marinated (tuna), spicy. The fish was fresh on the day went. I can appreciate the simplistic approach in not giving too many variations to the style of protein to choose from. Makes it pretty quick and easy to decide. In Hawaii shops would have like a dozen marinated flavors and styles and you don't really know what to choose sometimes haha. Definitely fills you up if you finish the bowl. I can see grabbing this for lunch on the way to work. The staff is nice, there was no line or wait when we stopped in and was served quickly. Oh side note: we didn't know some of the toppings were extra charge, didn't notice it on the menu, but the staff didn't mention it either when making our bowls. Spent the day shopping and walking around at the University Ave shops & decided to give Poke Bros a try, for a quick dinner. First impressions: Inside was super clean and loved that they had big signs of the menu, with pictures of what each of the signature poke bowls they offer look like + what all the ingredients look like. They also have paper menus as well to look at. What I ordered: I got a build your own bowl with spicy tuna + spicy salmon, white rice, jalapeños, mango, seaweed salad, crab stick, onions, wonton chips, crispy onion, tobiko & tempura flakes. For sauce I did sweet soy & spicy aioli. Taste: The tuna and salmon tasted fresh + cold/*not frozen, which is GREAT because nothing is worse than trying a new poke place out and the fish is warm lol. All the ingredients I got for my bowl tasted fresh honestly and had good flavor. Price: I wished that they labeled which ingredients were additional cost or at least gave a heads up, so it wasn't until we saw the receipt that I noticed some of the ingredients in my bowl were extra charge. The total for two bowls was ~$40, which is on par with pricing at other Poke spots. Overall, I enjoyed my bowl from Poke Bros. The portions are a decent size; I ate half of the bowl for dinner & saved the other half to eat for later in the night after the gym. The staff was also super nice and friendly. Again, just wish there was a heads up on the ingredients that were extra charge because though I would've still wanted the ingredients that cost extra, I would've liked if it was stated on the menu or if staff let us know. I was trying to figure out if maybe I missed something on the menu that states additional charge or a symbol key, but failed to find anything regarding additional charge. This fast casual poke bowl place offers made to order poke bowls, signature poke bowls, mochis, and cold drinks. The staff will make and create your bowl down the ingredients line behind the glass. You choose your base, ingredients, proteins, sauces, and dry toppings. I stopped by Poke Bros Westwood for lunch recently. I ordered The Duke ($15.50 plus tax), which I slightly customized with half sushi rice/brown rice, seaweed salad, shrimp, spicy salmon, spicy tuna, red onions, cucumber, edamame, ponzu, OG sauce, gochujang, wonton chips, crispy onion, and tempura flakes. The portion of food was just right. I enjoyed my spicy tasting poke bowl with my bottled water. FOOD: There are options to create your own bowl or if that's all too overwhelming, there are signature bowls you can order. My partner and I built our own half & half (spicy salmon & spicy tuna) bowl w coconut ginger sauce, and spicy salmon w extra fish (marinated tuna) bowl w wasabi aioli sauce - TASTE: 4/5 - the spicy proteins had a unique sriracha taste to them. I typically get every topping, so highlights included the sweet pineapple, spicy jalapeño, and raw onions. Both sauces were flavorful; I could actually taste the strong coconut and ginger in mine! Pokey bros Hailey recommended sushi grade fish such as salmon and Toner. The warm sushi rice was excellent. The seaweed superb. we had sweet soy sauce which was also excellent and the service was top notch very quick. I have been waiting for this to open for so long! Poke Bros is small and quiet, but we did go during a slow time. It's a little place where you choose your own options. You can choose a customized poke bowl or choose from their list of special bowls. Prices aren't the cheapest, but the food and service were great. The workers were very friendly and explained all the sauces and base options. I chose to go with the Duke Poke Bowl with shrimp, spicy tuna, and spicy salmon. I asked for tempura flakes on top and extra ponzu sauce. The gochujang sauce is amazing and adds such a great kick to the poke bowl. Overall, the flavor is great! 3 stars because it can get very expensive! If you are building your own bowl, beware that they charge additional for certain toppings, but they do not label which ones. I got charged $1.50 per topping for seaweed salad, avocado, and masago, thus adding $4.50 to my cost. I did not even know, nor was I told beforehand! I also got two types of fish (spicy salmon and tuna) and I believe they charged additional for this as well. Overall my BYOB cost $20. Way too much! I have gone to other poke chains where the same things were included in base pricing (around $14), so I was taken by surprise when I had to pay $20. I was pumped for this place to open - I love Poke bowls. But I tried this once and was really disappointed. The chicken in my bowl tasted super processed - all the same cube shape, very chewy and fatty, and little taste. I got the original sauce in my bowl it was barely there.
