It is, in fact, so much better than the second-best motel that I don't even know what the second-best motel I've been to is! Not only is the Itty Bitty Inn now a must-stay for me on my next trip up the Oregon Coast, but it is so great that it has dramatically increased the likelihood that I will be driving back up the Coast soon. I'm still shocked that the Lonely Planet guide didn't mention it. Rick (the owner) is the coolest. The first thing that he did was give my friend and I a rundown of Coos Bay hotspots. Then he showed us to our beautifully decorated and upholstered rooms - we had the two Tiki-themed rooms, each of which had too much detail to even be done justice by a picture. He proceeded to then pour us complementary beers and directed us to the outdoor patio for lounging and decompression after our trip. I felt like the King of France! I now absolutely need to stay in every one of the rooms for at least a night (there are 5 total, each with a different theme). This is no trivial feat, as apparently new complete redesigns are always in the planning stages. I can't wait to see the place next time I'm in town!!!

Upon arrival we were welcomed with vibrant exterior colors and beautifully detailed murals, bright flowers, clean grounds, a buzzing neon inn sign and the most friendly hosts we could've asked for. The sign in process was personable, friendly, and easy going. The "lobby" offers gifts, drinks, local nik naks and much more! Rik the owner initially showed us our room which was the terrapin station "Grateful Dead" room. He was kind enough to explain the inns and outs of certain things throughout the room such as the record player and taking off our shoes to maintain the wellness of the space. Once we were settled in he offered us a complimentary locally sourced beverage of our choice. During our stay we genuinely enjoyed every second of it. What a great old motel, friendly and helpful front office staff, quiet and clean rooms, comfortable beds and a beautiful setting! The young man who welcomed us was very professional and helpful. The rooms are clean and comfortable. The bathroom was spotless, and the shower was fantastic! The grounds are absolutely beautiful with sweeping views of the Coquille River. The grounds are surrounded with beautiful Myrtle Trees and the air is filled with the music of Canada Geese wintering over on the picturesque river. What a fantastic change from the cookie-cutter Hampton-Marriott-Hilton, boring, corporate, McHotels. We will be back!

I was surprised by how much i loved it, because to look at the thumbnail on Booking.com, it didn't look too attractive, and at first, i skipped past it. Bandon isn't a big place though, an the price was right for The Bandon Inn, so i booked a room. Obviously being on the coast, it has a strong coastal theme in the lobby, which is very cosily appointed, and welcoming. The check in was smooth, and the lady very helpful. The one thing i was not such a fan of was the continental breakfast (i never like any of the options, yogurt, pastries, fruit, cereal, hard-boiled egg - no thank you) And not only didn't i like anything available in this continental breakfast, we were handed a sheet of paper, and asked to say what time we would be coming to breakfast, AND pre-order which items you'd like. For a start, I'm on vacation, so I'm not setting any alarms, and as i said, I'm not into that sort of thing, so i asked her where I could get PROPER breakfast, and she gave multiple options that were available. She was very helpful. We were directed to our room, which was in an outside long building, and you went down some concrete steps, and into the room. I was instantly charmed by the room. We had a balcony!!! With a panoramic coastal view. This is because the long buildings are set above the town, on coastal bluffs. Beautiful. And 2 armchairs and a side table next to the balcony window so you could look out over the town below, and the sweeping coastline. A really nice room, and an affordable price. The temperature of the room was cool and perfect (highly important to me, as i get too hot very easily) I didn't need to put the air conditioning on, as it was already exactly cool enough for me. There's a pathway down to the town below if you don't want to drive there, but we didn't notice it until after we came back from breakfast. It's a very clean hotel. Excellent views, and if you like continental breakfast, you'd give this 5 stars. As it is, it's my 2nd favourite of the 5 hotels, and I would have no hesitation in returning, as I was absolutely charmed by the town of Bandon

The motel is right on the bluff overlooking beach and ocean. Beach access is literally right outside down the stairs to the beach. There is no elevator so if you have mobility issues stay downstairs. Also, no ice machine. If you need ice you have to buy at a store.

With that amount of payment immediately, I presumed that I would be treated well, not have to call the front desk twice, who routed me to the reservation coordinator, and then another two emails to ask for details. The details, once provided, were sparse, and upon asking if I could at least book more rooms if they were available, never received a response, even though I could see that the email had been delivered and read. This was a very disappointing interaction, and in particular when it was for setting up a happy weekend. I have taken my cash to another Inn, where I have had warm customer service, time updates, details on logistics, and a helpfulness which has been stress-reducing. They have even making the effort to call other businesses on my behalf, so to say that their customer service is excellent, is an understatement.

The WiFi is a strange little router plugged in to a random ceiling plug. The stove is small and has coil burners. - It has great beach access. Out your back door and a few steps away. Okay, several steps but still close. - Close to the old town. You're about a 5 minute drive to the old downtown and far off the highway so there is no noise. - It's expensive. A tad uncomfortable with the price but you're paying for the beach access and view. There is a chain hotel across the street that is significantly cheaper but if you want the access, get your credit card out. Another short walk up a trail leads to the Guest Hall which is a comfy setting with an amazing view of the ocean. Here you will find a full kitchen at your disposal complete with cookware, spices, and some common items in the fridge. Share a meal in the spacious setting or out on the deck. When you head back to your cabin don't forget to check out the extensive DVD collection. We found everything from classics like "The Ghost and Mrs. Muir" to popular Rom-Com and new releases. We borrowed several 80's classics that we hadn't seen in forever! The DVD collection can be found in the bathroom, which might sound weird but you will see when you get here that there is no space wasted in this thoughtful eco-friendly lodge. While in the bathroom be sure to check out the sink. Another detail of imaginative whimsy that depicts the creativity of the owner. Oh, do not forget to flip through a table book that recounts the history of WildSpring. It is a story filled with romance, dreams, and heartache that includes pictures of life realized. Other amenities are EV charging, radiant heated floors, roomy shower, a decent continental breakfast spread, and priceless peace and quiet amidst the old growth forest. The whimsy of the place comes with the decor spread through the walking paths. Hidden among ferns are sculptures, a walking labyrinth, meditation alcoves, creations of all sorts. Everywhere you look is a whimsical touch that makes you feel the great pride and artistic talents of the owner. It's awe inspiring if you take the time to appreciate it. One thing to note: not a great place to get work done, although I'm not sure why anyone would want to. There is wifi, but we found that most of the time it wasn't enough service to even send a text message. But, we were cool with that! This is a place to enjoy being unplugged. We have stayed here twice. In the same cabin, by chance, and have loved it. This last time, in October, we had the place to ourselves in the middle of a classic coastal storm. The wind howled at the Guest Hall and we stood and howled with it. We also got the privilege of thunder and lightning that rolled off the cliffs and gave a haunting view of the forest and sea. I had to tuck some of the breakables safely away so our golden retriever's wagging tail wouldn't knock anything over! I would recommend this place as a retreat if you are looking to get away from it all. Bring a book, lie in the hammock, walk through the forested short walking trails on the property and enjoy the little sculptures and other whimsical art throughout the grounds, reserve a time to soak in the hot tub and look out at the ocean and listen to the sound of the waves. At night sit out on the deck near the hot tub and look up at the night sky- so many stars, you can see the Milky Way! As I was walking to breakfast in the morning, I was surprised to see a buck just 50 feet away from me! He looked at me and I looked at him and then he sauntered away. That was cool. We paid the extra fees so that our 2 adult teen daughters could join us, so we had 2 extra pull out twin sofas for them to sleep on. They were pretty comfy for pullout sofas! But I will comment so others know- 4 people and a golden retriever is pretty darn squishy for one cabin! It also gets expensive with the extra fees for 2 extra people and a dog! Having said that, my young adult children loved this place so it was worth the squishing. They loved that they could hang out in the guest habitat (is that the right name for it?), which was the main room where breakfast is served. They have games and chess and checkers and relaxing music playing. It's secluded and quiet and I don't think they ran into any other guests while they were there. Breakfast was a very simple offering of bread (choice of bagels, croissant, or English muffin), jam, peanut butter or Nutella, hard boiled egg, instant oatmeal packages, yogurts, juices, tea, coffee, and cereal, and some basic fruit (apples, oranges, bananas). Snacks were just microwaveable popcorn and some Hershey Kisses and little mints. I appreciated their to-go bag every morning that had protein bars, a granola bar, mandarin oranges, some chocolate, and babybel cheese. If I had to offer any suggestions, I would have loved a little more variety with the breakfast and snacks (uh-for the price that we paid . . .). Maybe some fresh muffins and pastries, and a fresh fruit salad for breakfast, maybe some fresh baked cookies for snack? I just kept looking around their nice, super organized kitchen area thinking that there must be something else to nosh on! Got a cup of tea instead. And just to share an alternate perspective, my husband felt that there was not much to do here, breakfast was too basic, and Port Orford was too quiet. He also had read all of the dog rules and felt very constrained by them and was afraid to let our dog go anywhere or do anything for fear of losing the $200 security deposit. He was super careful and we got our deposit back, but I took a star away because of the way my husband felt about the place. (Bring your girlfriends and leave the husband and dog at home?)
