Really great service! So upset I forgot the guy at the register's name but he was super sweet and helpful. The margherita flatbread and mozzarella sticks were soooo good. The wine also had me buzzed and I got a lot for the low price. (I take my wine super seriously lol). Anyway, what really made my experience was how the guy (not sure if he was a server or not) was so attentive and on point with whatever we needed whenever we needed it. And he did everything with a genuine smile on his face. We stayed on the quieter section of the restaurant (one section Is a bar and the other side has lots of seating). Talk about strategic planning! A brewery located next to many restaurants and a movie theater??! I think they earn four stars for the location alone. Bump it one more star for having fire pits...and if I could bump up to six stars, I would for the beer selection. No worries for you non beer drinkers, it's a full bar also. Plenty on the tap menu that regularly get rotated in and out. Bar staff seems to be on it with the speedy service and wise recommendations. Got that mid-beer hunger? Lamppost Pizza is right next door, but don't fear losing your spot at the bar to make an order. The bar staff will take your food order also. Two thumbs up! Perfect for after dinner/movie date. I guess I'm in the minority; I really liked this place! Boyfriend and I met up with some friends here for a bite to eat. It was on a weeknight, and was fairly empty. We got a large pepperoni and sausage pizza, and some jalapeno poppers. I will say that the prices are a little on the steep side, but I don't mind paying if I think the food is great... and it was. The pizza was very tasty, and the jalapeno poppers.. well, I'm not really a fan of them to begin with, but these weren't bad. I'm not sure what the name of the bartender was who was working that night, but he made me some (3) killer margaritas! Big kudos to that guy. Everyone in my group left full, and happy. My only real gripe about this place are the prices. The pizza, cheesy breadsticks, and beer are great here. However you do pay for it. A large meat lovers pizza was $28, but it was tasty. Monday nights are $2 pints so that was nice. Their happy hour prices for drinks and apps are good prices. Overall its a good place for beer, pizza, and to watch the game. I don't know if its as good as Pizza Port, but they have 6 or 7 tvs in the bar to watch the games. Also the fire pit outside is a nice touch and fun to sit around at night drinking. read more

Too bad the beer is not better. We live nearby and we keep trying this place out. Every time we go I am hoping the beer is better but it's always the same IPA's and sour tasting beers. Even the hefenweisen is not sweet, would it kill them to produce a sweet or mellow beer? This time we heard they had a new brewer so we were excited to taste the new beer. We had samples of many of the beers but they were all sour or tart or just IPA's. I hope they will get some descent beer someday. May I suggest at least bringing in some guest beers from Port brewing besides the DOUBLE IPA. How about a nice Dunkel or a smooth brown or even a Belgian. The food is overpriced but good, not great. Horrible service. To the point of unbelievable. Absolutely avoid this place at all costs. It is extremely rare that I would give any establishment a one star review. But servers at Backstreet -you definitely earned this one!! Talking to your fellow servers while people sit at dirty tables without service for 45 minutes (several tables in my eye line were going through this) and then standing around texting on your iphone isn't what you are at work for. I would have to assume that there actually isn't a manager on site at this establishment. Do yourself a favor and go down the street to Mother Earth and order food from Urbn Pizza. Both establishments actually want your business. This is such a great location I can only hope that they run it into the ground quickly so that someone who knows what they are doing can move in. Decided to grab a brew with a friend before a movie, good thing we showed up early. We sit down at the bar, the bartender continues to wash pints without at least acknowledging our existence much less ask us if we'd like a beer. I might ad there were only 3 others at the bar. After about 5 minutes of patiently waiting I flag down another bartender and we finally get our beers. The good news is...the "My Peeps" Dark IPA was REALLY good. The bad news is... getting any kind of service at this place seemed like a terrible inconvenience to the bartenders until I flip out my card to pay, then he was right over. This brewery is perfect for that Cheers moment on television. It really seems to be a tight little community. It's location next to a movie theater is perfect. More breweries should do this if they could afford the space. When we walked in we were unimpressed, but we moved on because we were there for the beer. We sat down to a sticky bar and a crumbled and stained menu. Even that was not the worst thing ever because we were there for the food. We got our beers (tasters of all of their brews). Again, I liked the stout and the IPA was average, but overall nothing stood out and nothing made me want to come back. Overall, it was the food that helped because it allowed me to get ready to go to another brewery. I do not belittle this place because it definitely serves a purpose: BEER! I just don't think it was that great. Service was pretty strong and friendly. They knew their beers. They also were serving lots of different liquor and libations which always seems to be cool, but then the quality of other things is usually lower. Had a party there for my employees and all their hard work. Ordered around $100 of food and drink and I really wouldn't recommend eating there, although if you want to go have a few beers and watch a sporting event then this place is just fine for that. The pizza was incredibly bland, the sauce tasted of just tomatoes with zero other seasoning and the Hot wings gave me a pretty bad case of the runs. If you go to the brewery its fine for beer and drinks but if you want pizza and the such head somewhere else. Was literally just here.... I will NEVER go there again and I DO NOT recommend it. Very unwelcoming, not a single staff member cracked the slightest smile, it looked promising upon entering but after just a few minutes I felt the tense vibe. All we went for is a quick drink before our movie, but what a bad experience. My cup was disgustingly filthy. And the available outside seating by the fire table was filthy, and not cleaned up for at least 15 minutes. We watched a couple sit at this fire table and move stuff aside. A lady took their order and still didn't clear the mess. There were propane heaters all around the outside area and it was legit chilly outside but NONE were on. Horrible vibe from the staff. Horrible customer service. And plain filthy to top it off. My expectations must be high, but I swear I'm not one to complain. And if I put out a yelp review, I was moved strongly and felt the need to put it out there. There's so many better places to have a nice drink and enjoy a Friday night. Rude service. I went in before closing, hoping to sit down and eat some pizza with some friends. The guy at the counter was extremely rude and unresponsive. He made me angry. I ordered a large pizza, which was $30, and sat down. When they brought the pizza it was in a box, implying that it's "to go". They did not tell me it was going to be "to go" when I ordered. I had to talk to another employee to allow us to eat inside, after which they gave us plates. I am really disappointed and exasperated with this place. Never coming here again. read more

The food and pizza are really good. They have a good beer selection in addition to the beers that they brew themselves. I love the fire pit area outside, nothing is better than sitting outside with a beer and some pizza while watching a game on TV or just people watching before heading to a movie next door. We had been visiting Lamppost with the kids for years before any given movie in Vista Village, but with all the new choices, had stopped going here regularly. Recently we returned not once, but twice. I had forgotten how darned good their pizza and custom brewed beer really is! We have one exhausted the list of trendy new places in downtown Vista, and have decided that as locals, we love friendly customer service, great food and beer. Highly recommend a visit! I really do enjoy myself when I do go to this nice little brewery and pizza joint. Not only do they actually make delicious beers... I've tried both their lighter and darker selections and they are all delicious. Even if you're not a beer drinker, the beers are really good, trust me! The pizza here is so freaking good. I would come here every time I had a pizza craving, but Lampost can easily weigh heavy on my bejeweled wallet. However, when I do get to come here, I usually get their pizza that has chicken and artichokes and olives on it. I think it's called the California or something awesome like that... Monday Nights are the best here. Their beer is only 2.70 these nights. The have a very nice outside seating area and if you get there early enough sit around the fire pit its really nice! Bartenders can be a little put-offish at first but once they see you week after week and start recongizing you they are really nice. This place has a couple of great features and a couple of bad ones. The Good: The food is excellent. Getting an appetizer quesadilla will fill you up by itself. They are great, and the jalepenos inside add a nice kick to them They have a big projector screen to catch a game as well as a few other televisions. The Bad: The prices are steep. And when I mean steep, it's like $20 for a medium pizza. The service isn't great. The food took forever, and they weren't really friendly. Maybe it was a bad day, but that was my impression. Me on my lunch break go over and instead of turning me away, they welcomed me in and made me a two pizzas for free and allowed me to sit and eat as they we packing up. Great atmosphere, expensive prices, and decent food. Even though the actual pizza was decent, the appetizers were kinda gross. The jalapeno poppers were obviously frozen with what looked like some sort of american cheese inside. The garlic cheesy bread was the biggest disappointment though. It was split french bread with about a pound of cheese on top. I bit into it and the cheese layered almost half an inch thick! I couldn't even taste the garlic. And the marinara sauce they served with it was spaghetti with meat sauce. So beware if you are vegetarian. We were pretty full when the pizza came so we took two to go boxes. Not only do they charge $21.00 for a small three-topping pie (picked up to go) but it was burnt, tasteless and COLD. I arrived 10 minutes before the scheduled pickup time and it was ready! A wide variety of pizza, everyone I have had has been extremely good. My favorite is called "The Whole Nine Yards" with has 9 or 10 toppings, a delicious mixture of high quality meats and fresh veggies. My friends raaaave about the pesto. I usually ask for my pizza to be cooked a few extra minutes because I love that extra snap in the crust, but the dough has great flavour either way. They also have a great selection of local and craft beers. The place is kinda split into two halvess, the "bar/pub" side to the left, and the more sedate pizza parlour with family booths to the right. I tend to swing to the left on this issue. read more

I hate giving two stars because I used to go to the one in Orange County all the time, but the Vista location is just not the best. Every time I've been there we've gotten slow service (this last time only saw our waitress once-we actually had to find someone who would give us a check/ take our cards), the food is overpriced and the drinks have maybe a splash of tequila. Also, their Pandora music choices are questionable--blasting sum 41/ limp biskit so loud you can barely hear each other.. hmm.. For a restaurant that's right next to the theater, Lamppost Pizza isn't that bad. Their food is reasonably priced and their pizzas are okay. Appetizers are solid. Their beers on the other hand? Not quite as good. Prices for them range fairly high for a micro-brewery and the quality is less than stellar, especially given the number of great breweries in Northern San Diego county. They have more than beer in terms of drinks (thankfully), but if you're craving a cold one, stick with the name brands. I'm disappointed that this place closes a few hours before the typical last call in North County, but I am used to this in Vista. It's a restaurant first and a bar second, but honestly having a bar open at least until the midnight showing for movie premieres would be nice... read more
