Hiya, B.U.M.S., After spending part of the day nearby at The Wave Waterpark, we decided to grab some dinner and ended up stopping by URBN Coal Fired Pizza in downtown Vista. It turned out to be a great choice for the whole family. The service was friendly and attentive from the moment we walked in. The restaurant has a comfortable wrap-around bar setup along with large table seating inside, making it an easy fit for families or larger groups. The food hit the spot across the board we ordered the Half BBQ Chicken (add Pepperoni) & Half Mashed Potato Pie. The pizzas had a custom combination with distinct, balanced flavors on their thin, coal-fired crust. The Cheesy Garlic Breadsticks were crispy where needed, cheesy, and served with a side of warm marinara for dipping. The Buffalo Chicken Wings with the buffalo sauce on the side, allowing everyone to control their own heat level. And our son went simple with the Classic Cheese Slice, a hit for kids who prefer a simple, classic pizza. Used to be one of my favorite places, and they really do have great pizza, so this was especially disappointing. I have some friends visiting from Florida and called to place an order because their online ordering system was glitching and showing incorrect information. The woman who initially answered the phone was trying to help us figure everything out, but during the call, a man interrupted and completely changed the tone of the interaction. We were simply trying to clarify what came on their Hawaiian pizza because the information online appeared to be wrong. Instead of helping us sort it out, he rudely said, "We don't have that," then, in an obviously annoyed tone, repeated back an order I hadn't even asked for and asked if we wanted anything else. The entire interaction was unnecessarily rude and so off-putting that we decided not to order at all and went somewhere else. It's really disappointing because I've always enjoyed this place and their food. But being treated like an inconvenience for asking a couple of simple questions--especially when their own online ordering system was causing the confusion--left a really bad impression. Four stars because I really love the urban salad that has field greens, pear, walnut brittle, and Gorgonzola. I do not love the pizza. We tried the barbecue chicken pizza. The sauce was overwhelming in my opinion. We also tried the mashed potato pizza and that was a big no from me why a couple of people at the table loved it. So it's all a matter of opinion I guess I'm more of a traditional pizza kind of person. Also, the pizzas are oddly shaped. I do like the thin crust. The pizzas are very big so that's a plus. These are coal fired pizza, which makes the crust really nice and crispy on the edges. I think the pizza was a little bit too floppy for me though. You definitely had to fold it to eat it or you could use a fork. Bonus, we really enjoyed watching the show they played on the TV, Redbull soap box races. This is a restaurant where you walk up to the counter and place your order. They bring your food to the table. Food was served hot, fresh and quickly. Restaurant has a casual feel. The food was delicious and the large pizza was enough for 3 adults and we took about 3 big slices home. The service was quick and the space had a decent amount of seating. There was only one bathroom so that was a little inconvenient. They did have one tv playing sports and a bar area. I would definitely come again. read more

The couple of outdoor tables could have used a quick wipe down, but overall the service was very friendly, and our food came out pretty quickly. I ordered the small Mashed Potato Pizza ($25), which is a white pie with mozzarella, potato, and bacon. Their small size pizza is actually a big portion. I enjoyed the thin crust and the toppings. Oh man, what happened to this place. The once yummy mashed potato and bacon pizza was served barely warm and was incredibly gross!!! Crust was burnt black and cheese wasn't even melted. How'd they manage that? So disappointing. Tasted charred. Only Positive I can come up with is that the smalls are decent size, so there's that. $26 for the small. But size is worthless if it's not edible. Attempted heating it up, still didn't help, tried scraping the burnt crust off, wasn't possible, crust was too dry, major flop. First time trying their wings. $16 Unfortunately they were super dry and most were even tough/overcooked. Paid $50 extra for BBQ and sauce tasted bitter and tangy not in a good way. Not sweet. Tasted off. Paid extra for ranch. It was good! Attempted eating pizza and wings dipped in their yummy ranch but the char taste was too overpowering. $60 total for a small charred pizza and dry bitter wings. My husband will eat just about anything without complaining but took a few bites and opened a can of soup for lunch instead. He asked we never get food from this place again. WOW has this place gone downhill - in quality, in customer service, all while the pricing keep climbing ever and ever higher for lower quality food. The gluten free crust tastes like cardboard now. 3/4 pizza was totally burned. The lettuce in salad was soggy and only came with 1 dressing, which isn't enough. When you have the gall to very politely explain that there was a mistake in an order, they get really pissed and blame it on you. Saved the best for last, this last order gave me full on food poisoning. I'm going to try to ask them for some kind of refund of credit, but I doubt anything with come from it. read more

Definitely recommend if you like thin crust pizza. We visited the Vista location on a Sunday night around 7pm. We thought there was a large wait but all the people outside were waiting for the Handel's ice cream next door. We had no problem ordering at the counter and getting a table. They have several interesting specials but we opted to order our own customization. The garlic sticks came out first and they are very generous with the cheese, a big portion, and they were flavorful. The pizza came out shortly after and was also very good. The combination of the thin but chewy crust with the end crust having a bit of char was on point for us. The restaurant has several tables inside and a few outside. read more

I don't usually leave reviews for food trucks only because I don't have a lot of interaction with them except at events, but I know it's a booming concept and these guys didn't disappoint. Urbn had their truck this past week at the DPR cornhole tournament and I'm really glad I stumbled across it as I love pizza, especially small shop pizza. I had about 5 or 6 smaller pieces and a meatball and all were very good! If I wasn't full on beer, I probably would've had more. The pizza is made from scratch and cooked right in their truck oven which is really cool. The guy running the truck was energetic, appeared to be having a good time and was engaging with the crowd which tells me he likely enjoys what he does which makes it better for everyone else. These guys are awesome and I'll definitely keep an eye out for them! read more

Pizza is expensive but they have very unique combinations, like mashed potato pizza and eggplant pizza. The pizzas are HUGE, they're so big that the middle is always soggy. The crust is not thick enough to hold it up. The crust itself and the ingredients are always fresh and delicious. I only wish the crust was more sturdy, this kind of pizza you could easily eat with a fork. The breadsticks are absolutely disgusting. Bland flavor and the only flavor you can taste is butter. The butter tastes like microwave popcorn butter. Not a fan of these. They also only have 1 salad on the menu, so if you're craving a Caesar or house salad you won't find that here. I work for DoorDash, I stopped by to pick up a customer's order. First time ever entering the store. Most restaurant workers aren't necessarily friendly towards DoorDashers, so I don't expect much, but the cashier tonight was on another level. I walked up to the Pick-up area, she looked at me, and then just walked to the register and ignored me. I stood there for several minutes, and she was not helping any customers, but wouldn't acknowledge that I was waiting for an order. No "hi how can I help you", not even whose order are you picking up, just silence.
