They would not let me return something (in original packaging, never used) because I bought it on sale. I normally wouldn't dock stars for this policy except that it was never stated until I tried to make the return- the salesperson didn't say anything when I was buying it and mentioned I might want to return it, nor was this policy printed on the label or posted at check out. In other news, their lamp shades are inexpensive, but the selection is limited and they only have the kind that point light down, and none of the ones that aim light up. read more

It's SUPER hot in here. Obviously this is because there are million lamps turned on so don't wear a sweater. You will die. I got a great lamp here that matched my grey/gold paint job in my room. The base is gourd-shaped and has flecks of gold and pewter metallic and the shade is a natural, burlappy material that adds a nice glow/contrast to all the shiny. I like that they help you choose your light bulb right away. I always forget to actually purchase the bulb. They also sell other stuff besides lamps, like beautiful desk chairs and mirrored night stands. The prices aren't terrible either and they have big sales for major holidays like Labor Day, Memorial Day, etc. read more

I have been coming to Lamps Plus during the 20+years that I have lived in Santa Monica. So it was surprising that my request for help in replacing recessed ceiling lamps with LED lights for a dimmer was misguided at best. A very nice saleswoman said she had exactly what I needed, so I bought 6 lights, installed four and kept back two Because they appeared to work properly, I threw out the packaging. That night, they wouldn't dim. So I decided to take them back. So armed with my 1 year warranty club card, I went in to swap them out for working lights, only to discover I required a different bulb for a dimmer (I never realized there was a difference - that's why I went to a lamp store in the first place). They refused to take the four back that didn't have the packaging and showed me on the receipt where it has this disclaimer. They did not carry the kind that dimmed, the saleswoman was clueless that they existed. They didn't even carry recessed bulbs that dim. So what good is a warranty? Yes, it states its policy on the back of the receipt, but why didn't they tell me to hold onto the packaging - does that mean that in order for a one year warranty to take effect, I need to save it for a year? i think in good faith, they should have taken them back. I then proceeded to OSH, which was across the parking lot - they asked if I want those that dim or not, what shade of white, etc. When I told him of my Lamps Plus experience, he said they would have taken them back packaging or no. So bought six and they work fine. I know that that's where I'll be going in the future. Nice sales people are one thing; knowledgeable is obviously another. If you are not savvy about lamps or bulbs, go somewhere else. read more

Just wanted to say, forget the lamp selection, it's the customer service I am bothering to write about. I bought a light, installed it and 7 months later it stopped working. The manager at the Bundy store (Robert) did not let me down. First he gave me new parts. When that didn't work he literally sent over his electrician to fix it for me - for free. Who does that? The sales team goes the extra mile to give excellent customer service. I installed two ceiling fans 3 years ago; they were purchased at the La Brea location midtown that no longer exists. The glass globe that houses the fan's light was accidentally broken. Robert, one of the managers, took a lot of time to get me the best replacement part, even though the original I had has now been modified. It was a small sale for them, but very important to me to not have to swap out not one, but two, ceiling fans. Both the other salespeople who answered the phone on the weekend were also very patient and helpful, but they deferred to Robert, as the one who would know best. It's this kind of follow through that makes customers loyal to Lamps Plus and let's them recommend the place to friends. It's not just buying these home decor items, but also maintaining them. He spent over 90 minutes with me, patiently helping me select 2 different ceiling fans for my home. He was kind, gracious and very low-key. Integrity. I made a purchase and left my $$$ sunglasses on the counter. Called an hour later and shockingly Ron and Fred secured them for me until I could pick them up. (can is say it... ) Ok, I am a fan of Lamps Plus on Bundy and Ron Stone. I would say that this store has a real neighborhood feel to it. We are redoing some of our rooms and wanted new ceiling fans. We looked at a big hardware chain and did not see what we wanted. After looking on line, I went into the store. As I was pondering fans, Ron came over and asked me if I needed help. As I hemmed and hawed about what fan I wanted, Ron gave me his thoughts on each fan. Letting me know that if I wasn't happy, I could bring the fan back. Well, I ended up buy three fans today from Ron and I look forward doing more business with Lamps Plus and Ron. read more

We wanted to commend the terrific installation done for us today by Luis and Cesar. They installed a Minka Spacesaver fan in our master bedroom, and were courteous, conscientious, smart and efficient in their work. It required re-wiring and adding a third wire/line thru the attic, patching and a considerable amount of know-how, much more complicated than we had originally thought. But Cesar and Luis rose to the occasion with their expertise and diligence to complete a successful install. They also cleaned up after the work, which was exemplary as well. My one comment for future clients is that they discuss exactly what will be needed to make these nice and quiet fans run smoothly (such as our older house didn't have the more modern wiring in place, and with no remote control, that wasn't an option.) I will recommend installers Luis and Cesar and Lamps Plus Installation services to my friends and family wholeheartedly. All the Sales agents and even the manager at the West Los Angeles, Bundy and Olympic Lamps Plus store #10, where I purchased the fan were very helpful as well. For years, every time I go in there, everyone is always so warm and friendly, very hands-on and personable. I feel like it's truly a neighborhood store. THEY DO NOT HONOR DELIVERY SHCEDULE. They will say anything to make a sale. I was told the mirror would be dlivered ON Wednesday, not estimated by or expect to receive by, but ON Wednesday. With that information, I made the purchase and scheduled to be home on Wednesday to receive the item. I still have not received the mirror and it is now a week from the date of purchase. When I called the store and spoke with the manager I heard all sorts of excuses; delays due to COVID and it is beyond their control because they outsource delivery. I understand that Covid has caused delays, but if that's the case then relay that to the customer. Don't promise a firm delivery date if you can't keep the promise. Would not suggest shopping at a place where you can't trust the staff. Too bad. There was another mirror I had considered getting for the living room. I'll take my business elsewhwere. read more

I ordered two lamps from Lamps Plus. Robert, the customer representative at the store, assisted me and he was very nice and helpful. I was a bit surprised that the store was fairly limited and did not have the lamps I saw online (online said they were in store). Not a big deal, though - Robert helped me order them and although I was supposed to receive them within a week, it was almost three weeks before they were delivered and I had to call the store to see where they were because I could not get a hold of anyone at the warehouse and their online chat sucks. I guess sometimes it help speak up. After I left my review for Lamps Plus, I was contacted by 3 different managers, all wanting to provide me with an opportunity to receive the best service possible. Erik Thomas was instrumental in arranging a meeting with the Sales Manager, Robert Hamilton. When I went to pick up my order yesterday, I met with Robert. He stayed an hour past his shift just to make certain I was happy with my service. Not only did Robert thoroughly answer every single one of my questions, but he went above and beyond to share helpful tidbits that are a result of his 30 years of experience. That was exactly what I was looking for on my first visit, as I'm no expert on anything electrical. He offered suggestions, options and advice. He took the time and put forth the extra effort to insure my complete satisfaction with the product I was purchasing. Since my review, everyone who has reached out has been extremely polite, helpful, apologetic and eager to please. I truly hope that they will be able to train & coach their staff to treat every customer with the respect and great service that they deserve. We'll see how the rest of my purchase goes. i purchased a lovely buddha fountain from here less than a year ago, but unfortunately the lamp portion stopped working recently. i brought it in store, and one of the associates, amado sarabia, helped me fix it! i brought it back home, but then the fountain stopped working. so i returned to the store. but i just wanted to say that i totally appreciate the customer service here. amado was courteous, professional and went above and beyond. i ended up taking another buddha fountain home with me, it's just as beautiful as the original...i absolutely love it! :) thank you so much again for the terrific customer service! xo read more

I'm literally obsessed with Lamps Plus. The customer service is beyond fantastic. The staff was extremely respectful, had excellent advice and suggestions on products, and accommodating to my needs of picking up the product. During my time there I saw several other customers treated with the same high level of personal attention and kindness. This is the bar that other establishments should strive for. Not only that, but the selection of products is fantastic. I plan on going there for literally all of my home furnishing needs. OK, first off I did buy a lamp. I pretty much like the lamp. Nonetheless, the store had some of the worst customer service I've encountered in many years. There were essentially no other customers in the place, yet five different clerks couldn't get it together enough to help me out with any semblance of promptness or enthusiasm. The first guy didn't know how to plug in a lamp (I'm not joking). The second guy brushed me off when I asked for help. The third guy did get my lamp, but simply dropped it off at the register and walked away. The fourth guy didn't want to check me out and had an argument with the third guy as to who would. The fifth clerk was just wandering about straightening up while i stood waiting to check ou. When I finally was going to leave, the guy looked at me and said " do you want me to help you out with that" as if he was doing me a HUGE favor. Most of the sales people that work at this store are great. One in particular is just lazy. I needed to purchase a replacement part for a fan I purchased there a number of years ago and instead of checking the stockroom for the part this chic (Chuey) insisted on ordering one. I have the electrician at the house waiting for me to come back and she wouldn't even get off her dead asss to check. UNBELIEVABLE SERVICE! Last December 2014 I purchased a series of Lamps Plus glass crystal pendants for my dental office and this morning the light bulbs on two of them burned out. I am great at fixing teeth, but the last person to ask about a light bulb that is not a traditional 60 watt halogen bulb. So I called over to the store to ask the salesperson if he knew which replacement bulb would be proper one to purchase. The person was very polite and asked for my contact info and said he would get back to me shortly after he looked it up. About 30 minutes later, a gentleman showed up at my office from Lamps Plus (I can only assume they had my contact info in their system from my purchases), and introduced himself as Dennis Swanson, the owner of Lamps Plus! Can you believe that?! I was in shock! The owner himself came over and brought my replacement light bulbs, and changed them himself!!! Mr. Swanson even took the time to show me how to change the bulbs since they were an size/configuration that I was not familiar with. What an experience that I will always remember. It is obvious that the owner truly cares about his customers and is willing to go the extra mile. I will DEFINITELY continue to be a Lamps Plus customer for life! read more

They have a great selection of stylish lights and reasonable prices, but.... When I bought a light recently they told me that they didn't have it in stock and that I would have to pick it in a few days. Ok, no problem I thought to myself. I go back a few days later to pick up my new light. After making me wait for ten minutes they inform me that they can't find the light. I say ok, no problem. I'll just pick something else instead. So I find another light that I really like... Turns out that don't have that light in stock either and that I need to pick it up in a few days. At that point I just gave up and took my business elsewhere. read more

I went to the store on Bundy on Saturday September 25th 2021 and purchased a pair of lamps for my mom, to my surprise they were delivered the next day yes on a Sunday. Great yes. One of the 2 was damaged. On Saturday the 9th of Oct I went in to make the exchange. I stood at the counter for 20 minutes without even being greeted. A few employees went by and simply looked and kept going. I regret not taking names down for this review. There was an African American man just feet away from me on the phone, looked at me 3 times as he glanced up around the room and still not a word. I could see about 4 guys in the back wearing red tshirts doing something and they looked out and no one came to assist. A white guy came up and as soon as he did, one of the guys in red almost tripped over himself to help. I then complained how long I had been waiting and no one came out until. The African American guy then said well you have to stand at the marker on the floor. The white guy was not on the marker and he saw me standing there and said nothing. I'm a black woman 5'11 do there is no way to miss me. Now 6 days later still no replacement. I called a moment ago and spoke to Aida and she told me she doesn't see anything in the computer she has so pretty much I'm out of luck or should continue to wait indefinitely. My opinion is the staff that was there was racist in the treatment I got and perhaps my order replacement was sabotaged. I will dispute the purchase with my bank. read more

This is quite literally the worst retail.outlet I have ever had the experience of purchasing an item online.......Oh, I should mention that I never received the item, and Lamps Plus refuses to refund my purchase claiming FED EX has not found its tracer information on where the package was actually delivered. So the package was never delivered and the retailer, who is responsible for getting the item to me, refuses to refund the purchase. Stay away from this company as they take no responsibility for their choice of shipper or the failure of the shipper to deliver the merchandise. read more
