The theatre is small and classic with a little concessions area and nice bathrooms. It's a single-level theatre but the seats are angled well enough that no one's going to block your view of the stage. Really, any seat is a good seat. I attended the inaugural Virginia Cat Festival (day 1) here, with Jackson Galaxy as the keynote speaker. I enjoyed my visit all around and the venue was clearly clean and well-kept. I'd attend another event there in the future.

They perform about six shows September through June, with a mix of plays and musicals in their own comfortable theater. Tickets sell for under $25 a show. Season ticket holders can easily exchange their tickets for another performance if they cannot attend the one they originally purchased. Parking is free in their lot. Concessions of beverages and candy support the theater. Local artists exhibit their work on the walls, which patrons can enjoy before the show and at intermission.

The vet said I couldn't pick uo the cat before 2pm. I called to ask to change to the 7pm show. You said I had to be there before 2pm. It's a 45 minute drive. I would not have made it to you before 2pm. I worked at a movie theater. People would call up all the time to change their tickets and I'd do it over the phone. This is sh!t customer service.

The Virginia Stage Company's "A Very Merry Christmas Carol" at the Wells Theatre has become a…read moreholiday tradition for our family and this year did not disappoint. The entire audience seemed excited for the performance, with the Christmas spirit felt throughout the lobby and theater. The staff were friendly, welcoming, and helpful. The available concessions were tasty, though the spiked eggnog was sorely missed this year. One recommendation would be to improve communication regarding drink availability at the bars. If certain beverages are not served at the theater entrance bar (like hot cocoa and coffee), they should not appear on that menu, or guests should be informed before waiting in line. I witnessed dozens of theatergoers being told after a long wait that hot drinks were only available at the side bar by the front windows which created a lot of unnecessary frustration. The Wells Theatre has a wonderful antique nostalgia while remaining well maintained and very clean. We were fortunate to experience the show from a completely different seat location that previous years, on the opposite side of the house, and the updated writing and script changes were enough to keep the production feeling fresh and engaging. We also appreciated the intermission being placed after the First Spirit rather than after the Second, as in previous years, as it made the acts feel more balanced. Additionally, the return of the Third Spirit's in-audience entrance was definitely appreciated.

My niece is attending this college and was in this season's first production of Romeo and Juliet (she was the Nurse). The location is easy to find within the campus and is right on Jamestown Rd up the street from the Restoration area. There is plenty of parking available for performances not too far from the entrance. The seats are arranged in typical stadium style but unlike some other college theaters, they were very comfortable to stay in for a 3.5 hour performance. The stage is large enough that you could hear/see everything without too much trouble. There are box seats available for a more private seating. While it isn't an overly large theater, it was still sufficient space for these performances. Ticket prices are very reasonable in comparison to the park. I really recommend supporting these students that work so hard to entertain.

We had an hour to kill while waiting for someone, and happened upon this spectacular shop. The…read moreproceeds help the local animal welfare league, so it's easy to feel good about spending money here. This is a thrift shop, so you don't know what you'll find, but whatever you happen upon, it's sure to be well priced. The shop is well organized and neat, with aisles wide enough to not feel claustrophobic. They had lots of books and magazines, of course, and shelves of small appliances. (An electric knife sharpener for $8!) They had baskets of sewing notions and fabrics, plus some clothing. If you like beautiful China, they had a set of Limoges for a steal. Now, the volunteers/employees- so nice! I wish I lived closer, because I think I'd be a regular customer.
