You rarely, if ever, find Eastern NC BBQ anywhere near this far west, but you can find it here, the restaurant proclaims! But it is not really Eastern N C BBQ - they do not cook whole hog, they cook with gas, and as served the rather coarser chopped pork has little if any vinegar taste- there is a vinegar and pepper sauce on the table. The slaw is labeled Mustard Slaw which is definitely not an Eastern N C BBQ staple. It is much like the mayo and mustard based slaw that was served for over 50 years by Bill Spoon's BBQ in Charlotte. This was not bad BBQ, but it is more a hybrid NC cue, a bit like Hursey's in Burlington, except for the slaw. I might try it again if in the immediate area, but this is not destination pig. The Brunswick Stew was ok, but the veggies were of the frozen variety. The Fried Pickles and Fried Mushrooms are excellent, as is the Ranch dipping sauce. Visiting from Chicago, one of our friends brought us to Mooresville NC for Lancasters BBQ! We got the Pork Sandwich and a rack of ribs with nearly every side you can order. We also had the luck of getting their special: Fried Cajun Catfish! Every bite was flavorful and hot! Catfish was our favorite. Although the ribs were a bit tough on the Thursday Night we went, the flavor was all there in the sauce! I just left a review about Lancasters a week ago about ordering from them and not receiving one of the side items I paid for. Well, I decided to give them another chance. I ordered a Shrimp Dinner with 2 pieces of fried corn (which I had to call them to make sure they didn't forget again) AND I paid for a small order of French fries. Doordash brings me the order, and, of course, they forgot something AGAIN. Not only were my shrimp overcooked, but they completely forgot to give me my french fries. Needless to say, eating fried shrimp with only fried corn is NOT great. I literally ordered a dinner with an extra order of fries (so only 2 things total) and they still screwed up the order. So, going back 6 months, this is the 3rd straight time Lancasters has messed up a very simple order. Its even morw frustrating when you have to wait an hour to get the food that you paid 30% more for bc you had it delivered and then you dont even get what you paid for. Idk who does the employee hiring there, but clearly someone, or multiple people there, have no idea what theyre doing. And for any of you people thinking well, maybe it was super busy.....NOPE. i ordered my food at 4pm when no one is ordering food. So that excuse doesnt work here. I'm visiting family in Mooresville and they recommended coming to Lancaster's as they have some of the best wings. Now, I come from South Florida where we have a ton of good wing spots, so naturally I was a bit skeptical, but I gave to admit...Lancaster's absolutely lived up to the hype and more! We came on a Thursday at around 6 and it was the perfect time to go because as soon as we put our order in, it started to get really busy! (Which is always a good sign) The atmosphere is pretty awesome! Definitely one of the most unique restaurants I've been in. They have regular tables, a bar, but also have a bus in the middle of the restaurant that you can sit and eat in! Our server was Cathy and she was so incredibly accommodating, quick and personable. She definitely made it a memorable experience. I really wanted to try the wings and she recommended the garlic parm, even brought out a little sauce on the side to try before getting it. So we ended up getting two orders of the small garlic parm wings with blue cheese and chips, the quarter fried chicken with spicy dip, an order of cheese curds and an order of fried pickles. To start, they bring you a basket of hush puppies which are great on their own, but I'd recommend getting a side of the tatar sauce as it really elevates the app! The freshness of the dill in the tartar really pairs well with the warm crispness of the hush puppy. The fried pickles had a fantastic pickle to breading ratio. They weren't overly oily and were crispy, served with a side of their creamy ranch, I'd definitely recommend. Surprisingly, the highlight of all the apps were the cheese curds! They're fried to perfection with a buttery garlic flavor that was so incredible, I'm considering moving to Mooresville just to be able to continue eating them! The wings were just as great as I was told they would be. Crispy, a good size, and the garlic parm sauce had the perfect amount of heat. I had to stop myself from eating all of them so I could be sure and have leftovers to enjoy it again the next day. My aunt says she always orders the quarter fried chicken because its consistently amazing. And while it says a quarter, it looks way bigger! You get a lot of bang for your buck. It even comes with thick cut fries. The sauce is a vinegary, spicy treat that really makes the fried chicken sing. With two 10 pc wings, the quarter chicken, cheese curds, fried pickles and one soft drink, our total only came to $65 which feels like an absolute steal! This meal in South Florida would have easily been around $90. Corey, the manager, even came over to check how everything was. I cant say enough great things about Lancaster's and I will definitely be back my next trip up to Mooresville! read more

Well, once again, Lancaster's has not failed in taking a perfectly good meal and turning it to crap. Forgive the bold statement but when you order a Cobb Salad you expect fresh vegetables and lettuce arranged in what should look like a Cobb Salad, and not a salad with some under cooked and way under seasoned chicken in a taco bowl meant for a Taco Salad . Also, there was more 3 day old Mushrooms and sliced onions in this salad than there was lettuce bacon, boiled eggs , which by the way were so over cooked they had green rings around them. I've said it before and I will say it again. This place has out served and outlived it useful existence. When Smoke Pit finally opens, I venture to say Lancaster's BBQ will finally be put out of its misery. At least I hope so. ---------------- In response to the question when I came in and whether it was take out or not. That doesn't matter the fact of the matter is the food was horrible. For the timeline I just visited yesterday and it was around 1 o'clock in the afternoon so it was in prime time for lunch. So there is, Or should be no excuse for the type of food that was received in the amount of money paid for it. This is not the first time this has happened at Lancaster's barbecue. But this is the first time where I just hit my wits end. If you charge $14 for a salad at least provide a salad that looks as good as what she would get at Wendy's for $8.95.
