It is quite rare for me to write a negative review, but this experience warrants one. We dined on Mother's Day with a confirmed reservation for the covered patio. Upon arrival, we were instead seated indoors. We inquired several times about being accommodated outside, as originally reserved, but were told it was not possible and that only fully sun-exposed tables were available. This explanation was difficult to reconcile, as we later observed other parties of similar size being seated on the patio during our visit. In an effort to address the inconvenience, we were informed that our drinks would be complimentary; however, they were ultimately included on our final bill, which was disappointing and undermined the gesture. Regrettably, the food did not meet expectations either, falling short in both quality and execution. Service was great, food was good, ambiance was mid. We were seated immediately upon arriving and our server was quick to take our drink orders. She was very attentive throughout the whole meal. I had the Steak with Demi Glaze. It was good. The drinks were well made. The restaurant felt very bright to me. Not a big complaint but not a cozy date night place. Several weeks ago I made reservations for a Saturday night dinner. We had people coming in from out of town and we were all looking forward to a nice night out. I got a call on Thursday evening that they were cancelling my reservation to accommodate a wedding party they had booked. I sorry but that is just piss poor customer service. We ate outside on the patio and it was busy but not packed. Appetizer came out promptly - was lukewarm but not bad. Took a while to place order for entrees, but we were not in a rush. My husband's dinner never came nor did my glass of wine. The server didn't know this because she never came back to check on us. When she finally came back to see if we wanted dessert, I politely explained that they never came and asked to have them removed from the bill. She said okay. No real apology, no offer to bring his meal right away. Nothing. Got the bill - his entree was removed, wine was not. As far as the food goes, very limited menu options and very pricey. We order a dozen raw oysters, all very fresh, sweet and briney just how I like them. We also ordered the chivie, very fresh and really good. We also ordered the "smoked fish dip". This was the worst fisj dip I've ever had. Zero fish flavor, zero smoke flavor. It seemed like cream cheese with some kind of "texture" mixed into it. Served with pickles red onions and fresh "pickle" slices. It was as simple bad, just not worth eating. A very nice establishment. I didn't really know what I was going to eat since I am not a big seafood eater. Besides the octopus, calamari and other "exotic" food from the sea, they did have a variety of other food items for those not into seafood could enjoy. I'm pleased to say, that it was not just a menu filler! One in my party had the ribeye. It was really good. I had the shrimp and grits. They were really good too. Great vibe and atmosphere. Good was beautifully presented and had great combinations of flavors and textures. You get a fresh load of sourdough bread and 3 spreads. We shared the crab dip and clam chowder. The crab dip didn't have many large lump crabs as described, but the clam chowder was delicious! Matt got the halibut special, and I got the NC trout. We were both happy with our choices. For dessert, we shared the chocolate cake, which was not super sense but packed with chocolate goodness. Also, for dry January, I got a mocktail. Southern charm meets coastal chic: the oysters are fresh and the drinks are strong! This second restaurant from the team at Barrel & Fork (check out my review on Yelp) is delicious and unique for upscale dining in Lake Norman. I personally loved the oysters on the half shell, the mussels, and the mezcal smoked old fashioned. The ceviche gets an honorable mention and the saffron lobster risotto with green peas and bacon was some of the best I've ever had. The lobster was sublime. Service was knowledgeable, attentive, and came with a big ol' dollop of southern hospitality. Hemingway looms on a wall nearby and Spanish moss drapes over the cozy seating vignettes for a relaxed and sexy southern landscape. Don't sleep on the sourdough bread service - the pimento cheese is bussin. I'll be a regular here! Two things I wished were different: lower lighting in the evening with maybe some candle light/tea lights on the tables. Perhaps some noise dampening wall panels or other implement. Not too much though - I love a great buzz and Savannah doesn't disappoint. The bar is beyond stocked and creative... coming from the team and Barrel & Fork, would you expect anything less than "wow"?! Park on the street or in one of downtown Mooresville's designated lots and walk over to Liberty Park after dinner. It's so beautiful and has a great venue for live music + playgrounds for kids and a basketball court. Protip: dress to impress or dress casually chic, but prepare to see and be seen. A lovely new restaurant for Mooresville. Reservations seem to be an absolute necessity. You can choose Dining Room (tables) or a Raw Bar Stool (be warned, these are backless), where you can watch the oyster shuckers. Some people dressed for a nice evening out but there were many who didn't dress for the restaurant. Our server was very nice, very attentive and very professional. She forgot to share the specials which was disappointing as I overheard them when shared with the table next to us, but otherwise she was outstanding and perfect. My point being - they DO have specials so be sure to ask what they are for your night. Complimentary sourdough bread is served with teeny, tiny portions of a very good, slightly smokey pimento cheese, tasteless butter and blackberry jam. As another reviewer said, a serrated bread knife is needed. The bread is generously sized, warm and fluffy but because you have to tear it to share it, your piece will be flat by the time you put it on your plate. We (there were 4 of us) wanted to try a lot of different dishes. We got 16 oysters (2 kinds) and our server was able to guide us on the different qualities of each and help choose the right ones for us. They were excellent, plump and delicious. $4 per oyster for all but two of the options which were $5 per oyster. Lobster Crabcakes: sweet corn soubise, green tomato jam, crisp country ham $18 on the starter menu were the size I expected - 2 smaller crabcakes with plenty of lobster and not a lot of filler. They were fried rather than sauteed. The first bite was a pleasure. The Ceviche $18 was in a teeny bowl, again a starter size, not in a larger bowl like in South America. On our evening the ceviche was made from sea bass. Served with housemade tortilla chips, it's the right size for one but could be lightly shared. A nice Clam Chowder: caramelized pearl onion, carrot, celery, potato, lardon, oyster crackers $9 Crab & Avocado Timable: dressed jumbo lump crab, sliced avocado, crisp shallots, frisée, grapefruit vinaigrette $16. I had high hopes for this one and it was very nice but unfortunately mostly bland. The grapefruit vinaigrette either was tasteless or it needed plenty more. Lots of nice jumbo lump crab, crispy shallots and fresh green avocado, it was beautifully presented. (Edited: I brought half home for the next day. I should have asked for a little bit of grapefruit vinaigrette but forgot to so I added some lemon vinaigrette I made. That's all the dish needed - a little more vinaigrette and the frisée torn into bites rather than one large leaf and it was now perfect.) Chilean Seabass: potato & scallion rosti, caramelized onion soubise, broccolini, green tomato jam $46. A moist, good sized serving of fresh Seabass topped a rosti (clearly housemade - shredded potatoes made into a cake and quickly browned, very good). Broccolini had good flavor as well. NC Catfish: cornflake crust catfish fillet, Carolina gold rice, HRF andouille. house pickled okra, Jalapeno-tabasco tartar sauce $34. Our seafood-hating friend went with this choice since it was a mild fish and fried. She cleaned every inch of her plate and said she was thrilled with her choice. Karaage Calamari: ginger marinated squid steaks, panko, sweet chili sauce, hot and sour slaw $16. These are squid steak bites instead of squid rings (which is what you get 95% of the time). Very good altogether. Seafood towers and smoked bourbon drinks were carried past our table frequently. Drinks are pricey here, just fyi. Club soda was $2.50, a cocktail was $12, a recommended blueberry cinnamon cheesecake martini was $14 and a Blanton old-fashioned was $26. A special shout out to Savannah Oyster Company on their environmental consciousness. They use small compostable boxes for leftovers (no plastic here!) and metal straws for cocktail drinks. Big points for doing small things - every little bit helps. A+ It's on the louder side in the restaurant and every seat was filled. Tables are very close together. A glass decanter of water is brought to each table as seated and refilled if needed. We were seated at the exact time of our reservation and all food was brought out promptly, no long waits. They're doing a thriving business already and everyone is very happy with this needed addition to the 28115. read more

Honestly, the only reason this is a three is because the food was very good. It would have been a 1 or 2 otherwise based on our experience. 8pm reservation. Seated between 8:35 and 8:40 - don't remember the final time we were finally acknowledged to be seated. Admittedly I wanted to leave, but the people I was with really wanted to try the place. Two other parties were there also talking to us about leaving because they also hadn't been seated for their 8:15 reservations. It was also very loud. At our four seat table we had a hard time hearing one another. 8:50 a server comes to our table and gets an order for drinks. At 9 pm we get water, shortly after drinks... we get bread at 9:15. This was ridiculous. The bread came with a butter knife, but needed a bread knife to cut it so that was kind of a mess. Again, everyone loved the food they ordered - from scallops to tuna to sea bass. Everyone liked it. When a friend ordered bourbon it was about 10 minutes later that he found out they were out of that bourbon. They kept bringing up specials and then saying they were out. I get that we were a later reservation, but just don't bring it up if you know you're out. Will I go back? I'm honestly unsure. read more

Okay, First off in writing this review I was contemplating heavenly on should I even leave this review, but I was so bothered when I saw this that I truly couldn't help not too. I was invited out to Savannah Oyster Company this pass Saturday to have dinner with some friends of mines. Now before I inform you about this I want to mention service and food was impressive. I have eaten at both Barrel and Fork and Savannah in the past. However this particular day we sat near the bar and had dinner. I was really enjoying myself until I saw a server that I recognized being from the Florida area. I was completely in shocked because I immediately asked my friend who is also from the Florida area that this particular server looks very familiar. When I found out his name I immediately knew who he was. Now the only reason I am saying this is because I was in fact impacted by his schemes. To the point I didn't even want to pay for our dinner with my credit card because of who he was. It really has taken me sometime to sit with this information and send it out but again me and my family was impacted by this particular server. All I'm saying is please do background checks on who you hire because you can be hiring someone who in fact is a high risk to your patriots. read more

Ridiculously overpriced and pretentious! Got there at 4:45pm on a Friday just to try them out. I said I would sit at the Raw Bar since I was alone. After I was seated the hostess said she had to check if the bar was reserved? At 5pm? She never returned with a reply so I guess not. Each oyster is individually priced between $3 and $5 each, most being $4 on the menu; although there were no $3 oysters on my bill after I ordered one of each! That was $26 for 6 VERY small oysters and $14 for a rather small drink. Service staff were friendly, if not very knowledgeable. They were holding the pre-service run down beside me, an hour after the doors opened and I was told that dinner isn't served until 6pm even though they open at 4pm. I honestly thought about leaving, but heck I was here already. Perhaps it would be outstanding? It wasn't. I guess this side of Mooresville is closer to NYC than I thought! read more
