Found this place as a suggestion to watch the sunset (spoiler, this time of year it can't be seen from the restaurant) but enjoyed the food. Dined here with a group of friends for a Sunday lunch. The restaurant is dock side with outdoor dining and a beautiful view. We dined inside with a comfortable dark wood setting. We had a attentive waitress, a nice Sunday brunch menu. The food was plated nicely, hot foods came out hot, prices upscale, portion size fine. We ordered items such as lobster chowder, frittas, turkey sandwich, hamburger, Greek salad, shrimp cocktail and crab cake plate. My salad was the last item to come to the table whole others were eating their hot foods.. This is a nice fancier steakhouse, I think it would be fine if you just walk in wearing your bathing suit off the lake but was definitely a dressier vibe. Servers were helpful and nice. North Harbor Club is one of the easiest restaurants for me to recommend. I've probably eaten here 20 times over the years, and I honestly can't think of a single meal that disappointed me. The burgers are outstanding, but what really stands out is the consistency. Everything I've ordered has been excellent, and there isn't anything I've tried that I wouldn't order again. One of my personal tests for a restaurant is simple: would I order that dish again? At North Harbor Club, the answer is almost always yes. Charming setting with a view of Lake Norman, the harbor...and, well, the highway...but comes with the territory. We were greeted quickly and cheerfully by the team at the desk, and were fortunate to have a choice of indoors or outdoors (the latter being first come/first served). We sat outside under the umbrellas and they protected us pretty well when it started to POUR rain - felt bad for the servers who, it seemed, were less well shielded and got soggy. We stayed put...a little splatter never hurt anyone! Varied menu -- definitely something for everyone, from sandwiches and salads to meat and fish. Preparations are pretty "down the middle of the plate" which is great for here; didn't expect it to have a super-creative menu. Everything we had was delicious, though. Interesting cocktail menu (that was creative) although we're not fancy cocktail folks. Nice variety of wines by the glass, too. Started with a signature app, the "Mango Bango Shrimp." Battered and deep fried in a slightly spicy mango sauce (think General Tso's chicken). Delicious and good for three of us to share. Our entrees were the mahi mahi, the fried catfish, and the brined pork chop, all delicious if not necessarily life changing (see above -- didn't expect super creative). Service was absolutely outstanding -- reiterating that we felt bad for our super-professional, super-friendly server who was probably getting pelted by the downpour. Pricing seemed perfectly reasonable. Crowd was varied in modes of dress -- we were on the casual side and felt perfectly comfortable. Happy to pay up a little (not outrageously by any stretch) for a premium setting with a view. Terrific place for special occasions (which ours was -- visiting our Davidson student and celebrating his birthday). Will definitely return. read more

My colleagues and I had a reservation for dinner at North Harbor Club. It was my first visit to the restaurant and I was excited to try a few of the menu items. To start, the service was amazing. Everyone was so nice and helpful when we asked questions regarding the items on the menu. Our table ordered a variety of appetizers to try. My favorite was the Mango Bango shrimp. Ahhhh! There were delicious and definitely a must try menu items. I also ordered a wedge salad and the Lobster Mac & Cheese. I'm going to start with the wedge salad. It was quite what expected (see pics). The dish included romaine lettuce, tomatoes, blue cheese dressing and a strip of bacon. I was disappointed in the salad. The bacon looked like it had been sitting out for a while (see pics). I do wish that the dish included blue cheese crumbles. The Lobster Mac & Cheese includes a truffle cream, lobster and chopped ASPARAGUS? A few of my colleagues and I were literally solving a Scooby Doo mystery trying to figure out what the veggie in the dish was (see pics). Last night my friends and I went to dinner at North Harbor Club to celebrate my 25th birthday. The host table was extremely accommodating due to the weather and pushed two tables together under a large white tent for us outside. Our server, Melissa, was phenomenal the entire night making sure our party of 8 had everything we needed and even bringing out a candle with dessert at the end. I've been to North Harbor a few times and the food has never disappointed. My boyfriend and I shared the spinach and artichoke dip, then I got the braised beef short rib for my main. Our table shared a few desserts including the tiramisu and banana pudding cake... these were both so tasty! Went Sunday afternoon with a group of 9 and had a smooth, delicious brunch. The view of the harbor is a nice bonus feature with excellent people watching. There were lots of tables both inside and outside, and so we took advantage of the nice weather and sat on the patio. Our server was attentive and friendly, though he forgot an order of soup. Which ultimately was fine, eyes bigger than our stomachs! But anyways, we didn't have to wait particularly long for anything, and he was helpful answering questions. I ordered the mahi, which was delicious, and my partner ordered a tuna melt. He kind of combined two menu items to get what he wanted and it didn't totally turn out, but they were willing to accommodate which was nice. I would stick to menu items!! Instead you're going to find a good variety of staples with some tasty beverages, and on a comfortable day, a patio with a great view of the boats entering and leaving the lake. We came for dinner for husband's birthday and had a nice time. We were seated promptly but it took about 10 minutes for our server to come by to greet us. A little slow, but we gave her a chance to bring water, take drink orders and talk with us. She was great overall. Starters are large portions so save room for your meal! Everything was delicious. For entrees we had the po boy catfish, pressed turkey, seared salmon, and the Mac and cheese. Po boy catfish was a little hard to eat the way it was prepared on a long roll, fish fell out, so grabbed for the fork here. Still good, just messy. Overall, everyone enjoyed their food, and of course, half to go home with. We decided to try a little slice of pie for dessert, only because it is key lime, my favorite! Husband was waiting to devour a slice of scratch baked birthday cake at home, but a few of us shared bites of the pie, which was great. You definitely have great views of the marina and the Lake, so the prices do reflect that, but North Harbour is nice and local to me, and we enjoyed our time here. Went for a birthday dinner on a warm beautiful evening at 5pm. Ordered lobster soup that came out room temperature, then ordered the turkey sandwich with bacon, cheese ect. That was a soggy mess. If I had made that for my family they wouldn't eat it after one bite. Pros were the server and the location but I won't be going back again! read more

You know once you walk down the hill to the restaurant, you will have a good experience. Hosts are nice and smiling, while she guide you to your table. Servers are very attentive. First of all, I can't believe it took this long for us to make the long drive to Davidson to check out this place...'cuz it was damn worth it! The place itself is gorgeous...with amazing views! We've been to various lake and seaside restaurants in other cities...and for some reason, I didn't think that Charlotte's version would be comparable...but it definitely exceeded my expectations. I was almost mad at myself for discounting this place for so long. Unfortunately, on this particular night in October, it was extremely windy. It was so windy that they didn't even pull down the umbrellas by the dock. Still, we decided that no matter what, we'd do patio dining, by the dock...where we had the closest access to the lake and boat views. Despite the wind, the views and the vibe made it all worth it! They also played nostalgic 80's music...perfectly catering to the mostly older, 45-plus diners. Now the food! We started by sharing a bowl of Lobster Chowder...which was DEE-Lish (and surprisingly spicy)! As for the entrees, my husband ordered the Cornmeal Crisp Fried Catfish and I got the Shrimp & Scallops Linguine Pasta. We skipped the dessert because things got a bit too chilly/windy. Well, here's where things were amiss (for me). My husband's Catfish dish was only 25 bucks, but looked like a 40-dollar dish. It was so stylishly presented...and it tasted quite good too! Then my 40-dollar pasta dish (yes, FORTY dollar pasta dish!) was good, yes, but not enough to merit that kinda of ridiculous pricing. The presentation was just run-of-the-mill as well. Why so expensive for this dish...so much more so than the other fancier fish dishes. Just very strange. Overall the foods were solid. Again, so much better than what I had expected (from reading other reviews). However, I didn't get the ridiculous pricing for the pasta. For once in a long while, I tried the Old Fashioned. While delicious, the drink wasn't as strong as it should have been. Not sure if I'd order that again from here. Now I see why such an amazing restaurant with so much to offer has an average rating of 4 stars on Yelp. Certain things just didn't add up! Ridiculous pricing on some (not all) items. Also, we didn't even get any complimentary bread. Also, when we arrived around 5:30 pm, things weren't busy...yet there were tables that left unbused...like, how slack! So there definitely were a few things amiss. Now, to leave on a good note. The service by our waiter was quite good...despite the fact that we were seated so far from the kitchen. Overall, we really liked the place. So much so that we talked about returning in the Spring! I would have loved to drop 5 stars, but I included the reasons why I didn't. read more

The bad is that the silverware was dirty and our waitress didn't smell clean. That's not attractive when it's a woman and you're around food. We went for brunch over the weekend and the food was delicious. The best crab cakes I've had in the Charlotte area. I got the crabby poached eggs and would get again. My friend got the steak and eggs. It was good but keep in mind the steak may come a bit rarer than ordered, we ordered medium rare and it came rare. We sat outside by the water and it was a nice view and atmosphere in the nice weather we had. The servers were all friendly. North Harbor Club is an absolute vibe. It's a restaurant right on the waterfront at Lake Norman with outdoor seating available. We had a large party and booking simple-done via email. I received a confirmation email and text and a follow up call the day prior. When we arrived, the staff asked if we wanted to sit outside-of course! The view is stunning. Our server was so friendly and very patient. We ordered the Brie appetizer (not pictured) which was so creative-I loved the crunch on the cheese. It doesn't come with enough bread, though. The drinks weren't bad, I would have liked them with a tad stronger flavor. The Greek frittata was good, not amazing. The croissant French toast was literally a croissant, split in half and toasted.
