To be honest I was a little nervous about getting a consultation for cosmetic issue, it's just kind of an awkward topic for me personally. However everyone on the staff is professional and you can tell it's their specialty, so I felt immediately at ease. Also the atmosphere is very relaxing, not over-decorated at all. I've been to a couple spas that try too hard to be ultra modern zen and that's just not me. I wound up having a few procedures and I must say I am happy with the results. Everything was clearly explained and I felt like I was well informed before making any kind of commitment. Also the prices are very good! After discussing things with my buddies I discovered in comparison to other places the prices are really competitive. All this without sacrificing experienced staff. What I love about this place is that they are honest with you your treatment plan and prepare you with realistic expectations. My treatments will take 2 rounds, just as described during my consultation. On session 1 of round 2, I was asked where did I feel I saw the best results and where did I feel I saw the least results. I must say that I am very pleased with the service that I received from Dr. Landa. After six treatments (about once every 4-6 weeks) I can truly feel a difference in my skin. I agree that Dr. Landa can make a "hard sell" but I have just said no when I was not interested/or felt I could not afford the additional products or service. I've enlisted the services of Landa Medical Spa on two different occasions so far, and was satisfied with both experiences. Two months ago (when my usual aesthetician went on maternity leave) I gave Landa a shot. Like most of the other reviews mention this is a clean, professional office -there was a short wait when I first arrived for my appointment, but the staff was courteous and friendly. After my consultation (free btw, though it doesn't take a rocket scientist to know I have some stress/hormonal acne) I received a facial treatment of glycolic acid and some kind of antibiotic. Whatever it was, it worked! My breakouts have decreased significantly since the that visit and the products and cleansing routine recommended to me have helped me maintain my clear skin :) My second visit to Landa was about a week ago, to have my make-up done before having some head shots taken. I looked great and barring a few touch-ups to account for my sweating, my make-up lasted throughout the shoot and the rest of the day. I haven't had a chance to try some of the other services offered at this spa (like hair removal or botox) simply because they're a bit outside my current budget, but once I'm in the market I would be very comfortable placing myself in the hands of the people here. For now I have my next facial treatment scheduled at Landa and I'm thinking of adding microdermabrasion to my appointment since my acne has cleared up so well. read more

I don't recommend going here, spend the extra money to go somewhere professional and effective. I bought a Groupon for a large laser hair removal treatment. The area I used it on was the Brazilian, which everywhere else is your entire vagina, bikini, and the back. She forced a nubbing cream on me and an exfoliator and both were very expensive. She only did the top of my vagina and said that everything else would be extra. I was extremely disappointed. I changed my area to my inner thighs because I felt like I wasn't getting my money's worth. She rushed through everything and was late to all of my appointments. She kept forcing me to write a 'good' Yelp review and in return, I would receive one laser hair removal treatment on a small area. All of the good reviews are most likely forced because they wanted the free treatment she was offering in return. I first tried Landa last year because of the Groupon specials they were having. And since then, I keep coming back to try their other services. I really can see the improvement on my skin and hair since i started the laser hair removal. Dr. Landa is really knowledgeable on her area! And it does not bother me that the staff speaks in their native language, either Portuguese, Spanish or Russian! If there is something they want me to know, I'm sure they would tell me. I'm not a curious person and couldn't care less what they are talking about in a foreign language. Like i read in the other reviews, the receptionist never called me more than once to confirm my appointment, or bugged me trying to get my appointment confirmation. Two days before my appointment i would get a nice and simple call. Nothing else. The receptionist was really friendly when making my appointment. When I told her I'd never had that procedure done I asked how to prepare, she was very helpful. I've had three sessions thus far and have been happy with my experience. The facilities are nice and the people there quite friendly. I've never had a problem making an appointment and they are good about making appointment reminder calls a few days before my next appointment. AVOID!! Invest your money in something that will actually yield results for all the money you are spending. I decided to make this review after finishing my entire package to be sure of how I felt and I feel tricked and disappointed. Did a full leg, Brazilian bikini (everything), as well as arm pits. First of all, bikini area and armpits were painful even after applying several layers of the numbing cream you have to purchase with her (not cheap). The legs were not painful though. However, after coming for 6 consecutive sessions I saw very little improvement in all areas. I followed all the process and scrubbed 3 times a week with another scrub I had to purchase with her (not useful). The hair continues to be thick few weeks after the treatment and then grows back normally. Had to wait 20 to 45min AFTER every appointment time to be called in and then felt rushed through every appointment and not all parts were treated properly so many areas did not receive treatment. I paid for full bikini but she avoided doing many areas and had to be REMINDED during every session. She even forgot an entire side of my leg during our last session and even turned the machine until I reminded her. When I called her out she was rude and told me it was my fault the hair was too strong (even though she wasn't putting the machine at full potential) and that the process is not supposed to be definite, though that's how it was sold to me. She then told me that I had to keep coming in order to keep seeing results. Ridiculous then what is the point of paying a package? i bought two groupons for laser hair removal, which adds up to 6 sessions. just finished session 5, and cannot wait to be done with the place. good news: so far, the laser hair removal seems to be working. unfortunately, this is outweighed by the insane amount of... bad news (the highlight reel): session 1--no receptionist in sight, doctor asks me what i'm there for and brings me into the treatment room, where she admonishes me for not having shaved. which i would've done, had the receptionist told me to when i made the appointment. doctor never asks my name, but feels just fine suggesting that i get a facial and expand my laser hair removal for $100 extra per session. session 2--doctor tells me i should buy exfoliating cream to use post-lasering. she also suggests that i use it on my face, since, in her unsolicited opinion, my skin is bad. also, i should probably get a facial, and expand my laser hair removal. session 3--doctor finally asks me my name, inquires if i'm italian, then informs me that i don't look italian because i'm so pale. she then burns me with laser, but tells me it's my fault for wearing dark panties, as the laser is attracted to the dark color. maybe if i had known that little tidbit ahead of time (see session 1), i would've avoided the possibly permanent scar right near my cooch. and, oh yeah, i should really get a facial for my bad skin, and funny enough, they're running a special deal for a facial/chemical peel/microdermabrasion. doctor promises that i won't have any problem with such aggressive treatments even though i have very sensitive skin, as she does medical grade facials. session 4--pretty much the same as session 2. facial--finally worn down and apparently a glutton for punishment, i agree to the special deal on the facials. despite promising she would monitor my skin during the procedure, i learn she is not, in fact, actually doing the facial/etc., herself. esthetician is very sweet, but i leave with tiny pink polka dots all over my face, followed by a terrible breakout and itchy, dry skin for 2 weeks. session 5, part 1--receptionist consistently calls several days prior to each appointment to confirm i can make it. maybe she should do the same with the doctor. i sit for 20 minutes after my appointment was scheduled to begin before asking if the doctor would see me soon. receptionist informs me that the doctor isn't there, but should be soon. oh, hell no. i leave. session 5, part 2--doctor is in the building, but still running a half hour late. she finally arrives, tells me that i should try a facial because my skin could use it. i tell her how bad my last facial/etc. was, she asked me if i wanted to try it there, since they have a deal going on right now. for real? i reiterate how my face was a bright red, polka-dotted, itchy mess after leaving her very own establishment, so she tells me that it's because i didn't use the right products post-facial, and would i like to buy some now? not sure if i hate myself enough to go to last session. read more

Honestly, I am surprised by all of the positive reviews. I wonder if some of these reviewers have really gone to this spa. I find that I have to wait at least 20 minutes every visit, no matter if it is the first appointment or the one right after lunch and there is no apology. The technician is constantly trying to upsell me to buy her products. The receptionist is unfriendly and rude. In addition, the receptoinist and the technician speak to each other in Portuguese, which is ok, but I know some Portuguese and they are talking negatively about me and some the other customers. Okay so this review is a long time coming as I purchased a groupon about a year ago for a large area to be used for a Brazilian Bikini Laser Hair Removal Treatment. This was going to be for 6 treatments, which I have heard, is usually enough to at least put a dent in the hair growth but knowing that I would need touch up visits following the completion of the process. So, all in all, good deal for something that can be terribly expensive. I was eagerly awaiting the day where shaving that dreaded area would be a thing of the past. Enter Landa Cosmetics. First of all, it is near impossible to get an appointment that is convenient for you. She does not work some days during the week and this changes based on her schedule that changes on a whim. Because I could not get evening appointments, I had to opt for Saturdays and make the drive. This was fine until all of a sudden she was no longer working Saturdays and I had to find another time. I am a working professional who works 9-6 Mon-Fri so basically it was impossible to get anything other than a lunch appointment which I was not thrilled with because it interrupts my work day. I decided to give it a try which leads to my next concern. THE APPOINTMENTS ARE NEVER ON TIME. You could get there 15 mins early and be taken right when you get there OR you could wait and extra 35 minutes before you are seen. Which ultimately throws off everyone's appointments. It was just never consistent. As soon as you make a complaint you are marked evil and treated very unfairly by the owner. She made me cry leaving an appointment because I wanted to be seen at the time I was promised and was told to be patient and not get worked up. At one point I was actually brought into the room, undressed and on the table when the owner came in and told me the other appointment was here and pissed that she was going to have to wait. I was instructed to GO BACK TO THE WAITING ROOM and wait for the other unhappy customer to get her treatment first. Ugh. Moving on... I found the actual treatment very uncomfortable and not because of the laser. She has you get undressed in front of her and lay on a table that has a sheet on it that looks like it is not changed after each person and a pillowcase to go under your bum...ew. At one appt I had to ask her to put a clean one down because there was goo from the last person on there... She also doesn't leave them room to allow you to wipe up and hands you paper towels to try and get all the stuff of you. This would be totally fine if it was underarms or legs but doing my bikini and buttocks is super uncomfortable to have someone watch while you wipe... just saying. My final comment on this whole experience is that IT DIDN'T WORK!!!!! I still have just as much hair as I did when I started. I went through all 6 appointments for my bikini and only 5 for the buttocks because I was so grossed out by the uncleanliness of the facility and how uncomfortable I was at the appointments. So to wrap it up: 1. Unfriendly 2. Unclean 3. Doesn't work. I gladly skipped my last appointment and am writing of the over $750 I spent as a bad trip and moving on. I would not come here again and don't recommend it. Here are the main reasons: 1. I am an adult and I don't need multiple phone calls up to 3 days before my appt. (voicemail left) telling me that I need to call back and let them know that I am coming to my appt(??). I mean, if I wasn't planning on coming, I would let you know...do I really need to take time out of my day to call Landa to confirm an appt. that I alreay made myself? 2. At every single one of my VelaSmooth (I think that's what the cellulite treatment was called) I was pitched some kind of "Cellulite Treatment Vitamins/Supplements". I don't like to be pitched products - especially since every woman/girl over the age of 13 knows that vitamins don't cure cellulite or I wouldn't be subjecting myself to these uncomfortable/painful VelaSmooth treatments. 3. One of techs was great (petite little Brazilian woman...can't remember her name) who was personable, charming and patient. But the two occassions when another tech (another Brazilian girl) did my treatments, the treatments were rushed, painful and I felt like I could not relax (or even tolerate) the treatment. I asked repeatedly for my tech to slow down and not run the rollers over me so aggresively - my requests were ignored. It was very painful and I was left with bruises. I brought this concern to the attention of Gabriela Landa at my next visit. Was I offered an additional treatment at no charge? Nope. Offered maybe a product (how about a bottle of those Cellulite vitamins? Nope. An apology? Nope. 4. Gabriela Landa barged in my treatment room (WTF? no knock??) while I was changing and was totally in my birthday suit (no joke). The problem is, that the treatment room is right off the main corridor of a large medical facility where literally ANYONE (another client - a secretary? - a janitor??) could have been walking by and seen me totally in the buff....as such, you would think the requisite "door knock" should be second nature to all of these women (no such luck). I felt it was actually very unprofessional - but Ms. Landa seemed completely unfazed and unapologetic. Overall a borderline chaotic, quite unprofessional and very un-relaxing experience....if you are looking for a "spa-experience" this is not the place to come. read more

I bought the living social and when I went in it was very clear that this was just an attempt to get patients through the door so she could sell other products to them. For instance, she told me i would need numbing cream for the laser hair removal. So I spent about $20 to $25 dollars on it and promptly lost it. The next appointment I didnt' use it and I felt absolutely nothing. So if you insist on going to this spa that's fine, just don't waste your money on the numbing cream. The "spa" is also a bit ghetto. Don't be fooled by the nice website. I mean, what nice "spa" has a TIP jar??? I was very aggravated because for every single one of my appointments, they always called and rescheduled. For one appointment they rescheduled 3 times. They also rarely shedule Saturday appointments and if you are lucky enough to get Gabriela to come in on a Saturday, she will let you know how much of a waste of time it was for her. The owner (Gabriela) was rude and made it clear that my appointments were not worth her time. I went for three appointments and saw no results. Bought a groupon for extra large area laser removal. My review is good and bad mixed. OK...not very hard to make appointment as long as u call earlier. I did call right away and being told the doctor won't be available for the whole month. I am glad that I did call immediately. Second, I don't like to wait 30 minutes even doctor is in the office. My appointment was 1:45 pm ...and I had to wait in the room without receptionist for 25 minutes. And finally, I got to see the doctor at 2:15 pm. Good part: I was happy that she went over all basic laser principle including what machine / equipment she has been using and her certification in this area is type 6 ( means highest level you can get). However, the same time, she was telling me I need certain products including topical numbing cream ( in my opinion, this cream should be included in the price we paid...and if i know I need it, I would have purchased in local pharmacy cost $15 approx. and applied them before I come in) and also exfoliate , sunscreen and something else( soothing cream with aloe- but i cannot remember the name now) . All these 4 products cost me extra $150. Wow...it is quite expensive for me. Besides, I have to remind you, you must shave completely ( if you cannot reach certain areas, have your husband or bf to help you) ...otherwise, she charged extra $20 for that. I think it is outrageous for a bit shaving -$20. With that being said, let me talk about the real process. I think it is the best part, no pain at all. It is just 15 minutes and you are done. Afterwards, not bad at all. I thought that private area won't be touchable for at least couple days. Nothing like that. I can return to do any normal activities as usual. I really dislike going to Landa. I purchased a voucher for laser hair removal, under the impression that (as the voucher stated) the hours included Saturdays. I work in downtown Boston, so to get to even a 6pm appointment, I have to leave work before 5pm which is difficult for me. So when Saturday appointments were not available for the entire summer, I wasn't pleased. Adding to that, the staff suggested I "take a day off work." Are you kidding? I'm going to use a vacation day to go to a 5 minute hair removal appointment? I don't think so... I also do not appreciate the hard sell. I'm pretty lucky, and have very nice skin, but every time I'm there the staff constantly points out little "problems" with my skin to try to sell me products. Once I can understand, but this is EVERY time I go in there. It just makes for an uncomfortable appointment. I can't wait until I've used the rest of the appointments on my voucher - and I would NEVER come back. The most off putting aspect of this whole experience was how hard they push the products and other services. Literally every time I came in the first thing the owner would do was tell me how I need to buy these things, and how helpful they would be. It just becomes uncomfortable and makes you, the customer, feel awkward. I came in for Laser hair removal, and at one point she looked at my face and said something like "you have a pretty face..... you should get a facial here to get rid of that bit of acne on your cheek, you'd be even prettier". I am writing this before I have even finished my treatments. Much like many of the other reviews I received a groupon for a large laser hair removal (my lower legs). I started going in for treatments in January and have yet to see a difference (granted I couldn't get in in April or May because they were all scheduled up...which seemed a bit surprising). I write not really about the treatments, it has been painless and I am not done with them so I cannot say if they work or not, but I am writing about the service from the owner. I would never recommend this place to anyone for the following reasons: 1-I have adult acne and every single time i go in she pushes her products and services on me to the point where she flat out says your face is ugly and I can make it look better. Um, thank you? I am okay with her mentioning other treatments, but literally the whole appointment is her pushing products and other treatments on me. 2-Extensive waiting room time. EVERY SINGLE APPOINTMENT I wait AT LEAST 40 minutes in the waiting room and spend about 10 in my appointment. What is the point in making an appointment for one time if I don't see her for another hour (this is especially annoying because I live an hour away from the office) 3-She asks for tips. And rudely. I showed up for an appointment one day and it ended up that was not the day of my appointment (the receptionist couldn't fix that little error for me because she left already, so I was waiting in the waiting room for 40 minutes before Landa informed me of my mistake. i was upset because, as I mentioned before, the office is really out of my way and I had already been waiting 40 minutes for my supposed appointment. I left in a fit (and I feel really stupid for it, but I was mainly mad at myself for being so stupid about the date) and then Landa calls saying she can squeeze me in after her appointments. I take her up on the offer. The whole appointment she talks about how tired she is and how she's really putting in a lot of extra work fitting me in like this and at the end she asks for a tip. Flat out asks for one. I'm sorry, but she works out of a hospital and charges whatever she likes for her services and not to mention she did not have to offer me the time that night, it was obviously my mistake. Overall, the attitude I get from this place is remarkably rude of my appearance, time, and well being. Whether they do a good job of treatments or not doesn't really matter if I could go elsewhere and be treated like a paying customer. UPDATE: 1/19/2014 Been a year since I started treatments and laser made absolutely no difference. I bought a GROUPON for 6 microdermabrasion treatments at Landa Spa and have been very impressed with the service so far. I really like Gabriella, she has a friendly demeanor and is nurturing. I have been getting treatments such as these for years and would know right away if someone wasn't knowledgeable or well practiced. The facility is in a hospital which made me feel at ease right away. It is clean and modern looking and I've never waited more than 5 minutes for an appointment to begin. I am not sure what the other girls on here are talking about. Some of the woman were complaining that Gabriella and her receptionist spoke Portuguese in the office. I think that is borderline racist. We live in a multi-cultural city and should be used to hearing different accents and languages. And to the girls that complained about the laser hurting, it's not going to feel like kittens licking you! Laser hair removal literally removes the hair from the follicle, that will tend to hurt. When I came across Landa Medical Spa, I knew that this would be the perfect fit for what I was looking for! I went to Landa for Laser Hair removal for me and my son, who had some hair he wasn't happy with. After paying Gabriella, nearly $1000, we still have all the hair we came in with. My son even refused to go to the last appointment saying it wasn't worth the hassle since it wasn't working. I have had LHR at two other salons so I know the process and I know what kind of results to expect. I am completely unhappy with the results. The best part of the process is Lucy who was always super helpful and friendly. In direct contrast to Gabriella who was aggressive and almost bullying. She actively solicited tips, she pushed other services every time I was there and when I said that it wasn't working, she argued with me. I don't care how many times her machine beeps. I can see that the hair is still there! My son is disappointed and I am angry and disappointed on his behalf. He was very self conscious but was willing to go through the process because I told him it worked. He had never shaved before so he did a bad job and then had to suffer further embarrassment as she shaved him and then she charged me $20! For 20 bucks she could have provided some shaving cream instead of trying to dry shave a sensitive area with a Bic disposable! I bought several products from her because it was easier to buy them then to listen to her explain endlessly why I needed them.The numbing cream was a good idea but I believe it should have been included in the price. I have never seen a business where they actively solicited tips. I find this very strange and distasteful. The atmosphere is abysmal. I know she has space next to her husband's office and so probably doesn't have rent but there is no salon feel to the place at all. The walls are mostly bare the, the waiting room chairs are uncomfortable (and Lord knows I spent enough time sitting in them!) institutional paint and indoor/outdoor carpet round out the ambiance. I didn't like Gabriella, I didn't like the place and I was beyond disappointed with the service. Lastly, there is no hook on the bathroom door so you have to put your purse on the floor or in the sink, if it's dry. Really? In a place that supposedly caters to women there's no place to hang your purse? Shame! Writing this, I am annoyed all over again. I am reducing from two stars to one star. I AM STUNNED AT ALL THE 5 STAR RATINGS. I DON'T BELIEVE IT. I THINK GABRIELLA IS CREATING PROFILES SO SHE CAN GIVE HER BUSINESS A BOOST. NO ONE WHO HAS BEEN IN THAT LOCATION CAN POSSIBLY SAY THAT THAT WIDE INDUSTRIAL CORRIDOR IS A RELAXING SPA ENVIRONMENT. read more

My first meeting with Gabriella was wonderful as she explained how the process worked with her medical grade laser. The laser is painless and Gabriella makes it an even better experience.
