For 5 years I have been getting CPAP supplies from Landauer Medstar. I have had problems with supplies on occasion, such as wrong items being shipped and items that were charged to my account and missing from the shipped order. A couple of days ago I opened a box of supplies I had received and noticed I was sent the wrong filters. These filters are about 1"X 2" and couldn't cost more than a few cents apiece. I won't go into what they charge for them, but I was shipped the wrong ones. I called Landauer Medstar, as I have done in the past when they messed up my order and was told I was not eligible to receive new supplies yet. I informed the customer service rep that I did not want new supplies but needed to replace the wrong ones they sent me with the correct ones as is listed with them. This conversation went back and forth for a few minutes until I asked for a supervisor who, of course, wasn't available. Finally I was told as a one time courtesy, they would send a return shipping label and the correct filters. As though they were doing me a favor. Today I received a shipping label and shipping envelope for the filters sent in error. I'm sure the postage for sending the envelope and it's return far surpass the cost of the filters sent in error. read more

The office folks are incompetent, the phone system menus are ridiculous, the hold time will give you a heart attack! I have been a customer of Landaurer Medstar for over 4 years. Their customer services is terrible. There is no way to contact their home office for help as they don't give out this info. Go on line figure it out yourself. I have tried it is just impossible. Every time I call my regular home office number with a questions I am put on hold for at least 10 minutes only to get someone who can't help and transfers me. Again on hold for another 10 minutes or more then the call drops and you have to start over again. Once you have your equipment your ok but boy don't bother asking questions or to speak to a supervisor or manager they just seem to convienently drop your call. Once you are with them you can't even change for 5 years as they have Medcare lock you in for that amount. One thing they do well is bill Medicare or Medicade to get their money. read more

What a disaster! I ordered CPAP supplies on 2/11/19. I was told that they were getting the required authroization from my insurance and prescription from my doctor. I called several times over the next month and also called my doctor and insurance several times. After filing a complaint with them through my insurance, it seems they got their act together. I spoke to a gentleman on 3/13/19 who assured me that they got everything in and the hold up was that the doctor was sending the presecription to the old email address/ fax number. A week later ,TODAY, I get a call to tell me that they have been trying to reach my insurance and my doctor but they aren't answering their inquiries. I have never dealt with a company so incompetent in my life. They have no notes about my previous calls with them. Call them, you are put on hold 15-20 minutes, tell them why are calling, put on hold, transferred to another someone, put on hold again, finally given a date for pickup, but pickup never arrives, Call them again- are told they have no record of the scheduled pickup. This has been ongoing for 2-3 months. Even Worse, scheduled pickup for today. -- but they came with more oxygen tanks,- said they were told to deliver only - would not take the tanks back -- as they were only scheduled to deliver. If I could give less then 1 star I would. My husband got out of the hospital after a 10 day stay for Covid-19. They told me they were going to deliver a tub bench that day. IT WAS DELIVERED 6 DAYS LATER. I left messages every day and no one ever returned my calls. Clearly no one cares about the patient. We used Landauer Medstar to order a hospital bed about a year ago. Medicare pays for the first year, then the bed is owned by the client. The bed, manufactured by Drive Medical, in China, required repairs just after the year was up. Our interactions with Medstar have been as follows: 1) Trying to contact them multiple times with rare success. The only certainty is a message saying they are unusually busy, and will contact you later (they almost never do.) 2) Finally able to speak to someone, with confusing instructions, and no chance to discuss the fact that a technician would need to look at the bed before we could order a replacement for any part. Since there was an urgent need for the bed to work, we looked on the Medicare website to find suppliers of medical supplies in our zip code. We finally found a local supplier who sent a technician out, and was willing to work with us to get the bed fixed. Landauer Medstar is terrible. I would report them to Medicare, but have not found any way to contact them about this. One aspect of this supplier's chicanery is that they have administrative sites spread in different cities and states, so you don't even know which office you should be dealing with (Smithtown, Poughkeepsie, Philadelphia, North point???). Also, prior to the "broken bed" issue, they sent me bills for items that were either never sent or already paid for. When I persisted and reached their billing department, they said they had changed computer systems, and had difficulty retrieving previous payments! When I told them I had proof that we owed nothing, they magically were able to find the missing records. Watch out! -- an elderly relative could easily be taken in by a scam like this. read more

I can't even begin to explain the horror show that is dealing with Landauer Medstar. I am a Social Worker who has been in the field for almost 10 years and I have never dealt with such a terrible Medical Supplier. Here is a typical Landauer Medstar experience: You call, wait on hold for approximately 45 minutes, you speak with someone who is completely unknowledgeable and unprofessional. Then, you fax in the prescription and all necessary support documentation for a specific piece of durable medical equipment. Then, you call back a week later and you are told that they did not receive it. You fax it again, a week later you call back and you are told once again, that they did not receive the fax. You fax it for a third or fourth time, call back and you are told that it was received and it will be reviewed "now" (wondering why it wasn't reviewed a week ago when it was received). Once reviewed, you are told that certain documents are missing, so you re-send them. The next time you call, you are told that the chart notes or the prescription is written incorrectly. You wonder why this wasn't told to you the first few times, but you change them and re-send anyway. Then by this point 1-2 months have gone by, the patient still has not received the equipment (that they desperately need) so you call back and they tell you that something else is wrong and/or missing. I have experienced this nightmare every single time I've worked with Medstar. I am in SHOCK that this company is still in business. read more

By far the worst customer service I have ever experienced! Twice they gave me the wrong wheelchair . Every time I called, I had at least a 20 minute wait before somebody picked up. Their customer service representative was totally uninformed, probably in confidence, and when I asked for a supervisor, someone came on the phone and would not allow me to state my complaint. I have been with Landauer Medstar for a while. I decided to STOP the CPAP delivery. Youngs Medical charge me the Monthly $9.45 twice in the same month. This $9.45 is for the monthly rental of my CPAP for one year and my Insurance has paid for the rest of the coast of the CPAP. When I call their Billing Department it was very hard to reach them over 1 hour on the phone I had to call 3 days in a row because of the waiting so long on the phone. Finally I reach someone she sounded asian I ask her why i am being charged twice for the CPAP rental. Her answer was that one payment is for the monthly rental and the other payment is for Date of Service. EXCUSE me I'm only supposed to be charged once a month $9.45 for 12 month Only? I was charged 7/01 and again 7/10. I also Stopped all CPAP Delivery since Young Medical likes to withdraw money from my credit card but you don't know why is being withdraw because you can't track it. So based on this I will Buy my own CPAP supply outside on my own and I will NOT depend on this company any more. I have also gotten the wrong nasal size and the wrong heating tub and when I have called to corrected I will get charges for it after my Insurance has paid for it. They are responsible for Packing the right supply and checked everything before is send to the customer but I can tell they are very in responsible. It's now been 5 weeks now and my supplies still have not been shipped. Last week I called on Monday and they assured me that the order will be shipped on Tuesday. It's now Monday of the following week and I still don't have the supplies. When I called, the lady said that the order is due to be shipped which means hasn't been shipped yet. Dangerously incompetent. I mean DANGEROUSLY. There's that line from the B52's Love Shack ..."stay away fools". I hum it whenever I think about this mob. Here are the headlines: LANDAUER MEDSTAR STRAPS PATIENT INTO WRONG END OF MACHINE! Yes, that's right. After knee surgery they delivered a Continuous Passive Movement machine to my home. One unreadable sheet of black and white low res photocopied instructions. One poor delivery guy who finally admitted he'd never set one "of this model" up before. One incredulous patient says "no!" as he narrowly avoids serious injury when the delivery guy plugs machine into power supply and goes to hit "start" after randomly trying to figure out the remote control settings with my post-op leg slung over the "footplate" at wrong end of machine. LANDAUER MEDSTAR INCREASES PATIENT INFECTION RISK. Yes, that's right. Remember, no instruction manual. I Google Optiflex video (maker of my CPM device) only to find "before you get started under no circumstances should your device be set up on the floor. This is a serious infection control risk". Cue the antiseptic wipes. And a call, gulp, to the Medstar help desk. LANDAUER MEDSTAR NON HELP DESK ARGUES WITH PATIENT. Yes, that's right. First thing is, it was Saturday morning. "Our office is closed" says the recorded message but then says "our office hours are 9-1pm" on Saturdays. I select an option which might get me a human and I got an uncaring moron who told me that it was the "same machine you've been using in the office so why are you calling to ask for help setting it up?" And delivered all this in a raised voice. I said I'd never seen a CPM machine before. So he asked what I needed help with: the soft bits or the hard bits. Perplexed I said "um, everything". He said he'd send another driver. LANDAUER MEDSTAR NOW CAN'T PARK IN LOWER MANHATTAN "The police won't let me park here" is the new "dog ate my homework". But yes, that's what I heard when, hours later, a bloke finally calls. It's near the end of the day and he clearly needs a break. I ask him whether he's simply a delivery guy or a technician who knows how to set up a CPM. He replies: "someone will be able to help you on Monday". And hangs up. Even the first guy could park his car. I consider myself lucky that he couldn't be bothered. LANDAUER MEDSTAR NEVER CALLS. I would still be waiting with scar tissue building in my knee, with a useless bit of hardware and lots of Velcro material (now off the floor and all wiped!) if I'd not contacted my own personal trainer; someone who had set up entire gyms before. He came over and figured it out. Meanwhile my next call is to Memorial Sloan Kettering to advise them of the Landauer Medstar incompetence. No patient of that hospital especially should experience it. I bet they find a car park when it comes time to pick up the machine. But I dread the experience of calling them to do so. read more

AWFUL, AWFUL, AWFUL to deal with. I have NEVER been able to talk to a manager if I had a concern. Every time I ask for one, I am forwarded to someone in customer service. Recently I had a problem with my cpap machine, the pressure was too high. I called explaining my situation, I was waking up with a headache. The "so called customer service" rep did not care and told me that someone would get back to me in 48 hrs. I told her that her response was not acceptable and that someone should assist me within a reasonable time frame. (same day)... My comments did not sway here at all. One would think that she would at least say "let me see what I can do for you." Sure enough 48 hrs. later someone called me. Again I explained to the caller how un-happy I was and again no positive reaction... the response after I vented was "ok" I told this person I did not need his help and that I had gone on line searched U tube and found my answer. I have contacted my Dr. and asked him to suggest another provider. I also have researched the web for their Landauer Medstar official site and in no place is there a link where one can contact them. I plan to call my insurance company and advise them that Landauer Medstar should be put on notice or at least noted by them that they are not a very reliable provider. There is something terribly wrong with this company. We have experienced several occasions when no one answers the phone in Customer Service. Today is one of those days. I have been put on hold for 15-20 minutes NINE times today. After 15 minutes, I was transferred to Corporate Offices in NJ who transferred me back to Customer Service. On three of the nine phone calls, a man picked up and said "Ladauer Medstar, please hold" but he never cameand back on the line, then I was transferred to NJ. We have been waiting for repair/replacement of a broken device since October 2017; Landauer claims they have no record of it. A delivery driver was sent to the home in January of this year to ascertain that the device was indeed broken, but he told us he is not a tech and cannot fix it. We have been given the run-around by one man in particular in this company. This man never returned our phone calls or messages left on his voicemail, not once, since October 2017, until he was pressured by a Medicare Case Manager to address the problem last week - it took SIX months to get a simple answer from this man. Complain directly to Medicare and Medicaid about this company. Landauer Medstar has many contracts with the government. A PERSON COULD DIE WAITING FOR THIS COMPANY TO DO ITS JOB. read more

They take forever to answer the phone, (imagine you need oxygen, the unit breaks, and you're on hold for a half hour or more!) and then you get switched from person to another: forever. This review was originally written on July 28,2016 and slightly edited. Unbelievable! The person I spoke to in PA (??) may have given me the wrong address for an in-person app't, 270 Community Drive, Great Neck, instead of 230 Community Drive. I just went online and Google Maps has the 230 address. Yelp has the 270 address. Don't they have someone checking these things? What is the correct address?? When I couldn't find the location, I called their main number and WAS ON HOLD FOR 38 MINUTES BEFORE I HUNG UP. What would have helped me while waiting on the phone: 1) a 'heads up' on how long I might be on hold, AND 2) the option to leave a message for a callback. I'm looking elsewhere for my supplies now. Followup to 7/28/review on 9/26/16: Unfortunately, I have not found another Medicare provider and need cpap supplies. So I called the 'Billing Questions' phone number on my bill exactly at 8:30 am EST to pay a bill so I could reorder my cpap supplies. Call was immediately picked up and bill was paid within five minutes. The number is (855) 389-4043, M-F 8:30 to 5:00. After bill was paid, hung up and called back at 9:01 on main 800 line. Found the prompts confusing. Initially on hold with announcement letting me know I was third in line; after 10 minutes, a woman picked up, I explained I was calling to order cpap supplies, and was put back on hold for another ten minutes without a recording when my call would be picked up again. Finally the woman came back on and booked my order. For cpap supplies, there is a direct number, (844) 241-7153. Press 1 then press 2. I was given a walking frame on my release from HSS. Landauer Medstar billed me for the frame without submitting a claim to my insurance. The billing department is very difficult to reach, usually with only a voice mail, telling me they'll call, but won't say when. When I do reach them about the bill, they say they refuse to claim because my insurance won't cover it. My insurance assures me it does cover it, but when they try to reach the billing department to explain their coverage, they only get a voice message, not a person to talk to. So I'm stuck with a mistaken bill I can't resolve. This company should not be dealt with until they reform their practices. read more

I was on a list for an Inogen G3 machine and was told it was on back order and it was unknown when I would receive it. Having called the company yesterday I am thrilled to say that my machine arrived at 9 am today. Our mom passed a week ago and we called Landauer Medstar to come pick up the oxygen equipment, her aid was at the house and when they came to pick up the driver, his name is Kirk, told her that he also had to pick up her wheelchair, which was a brand new recliner wheelchair that she had gotten from Medicare, the aid believed him and he took it, when we got there and told her it wasn't theirs, we called more than 6 times and every time we told the story to the dispatcher he was very rude and kept on hanging up on our faces. These people should NOT be in business and Medicare should stop using them. I'm putting a complaint to the Better Business Bureau, obviously they are THIEVES. Rating a big fat ZERO read more

Contacted Landauer MedStar to order durable medical equipment. After waiting over 5 minutes listening to annoying music, the operator advised that only the physician could order the equipment, even though I have offered to fax the prescription order signed by the physician directly to them. Not helpful at all. Contacted my physician who provided the scrip and who advised they don't do direct orders to DME vendors. Between the two contacts, I am still without DME, which the Walmart website happens to offer at far less cost for the very same item. Yes, the US healthcare system needs to be overhauled. read more

used to work at a competing durable medical equipment company so i'm aware of how the process for ordering/receiving equipment works. My mom and I requested a commode for my grandma while she was in the hospital to come home to. Winthrop ordered it from Landauer and no one ever called us to schedule delivery and make sure someone would be home, usually someone's home anyway but with all the chaos of her discharge who knew? Anyway, today we get a call from the driver Larry Wright who was VERY nasty on the phone said I'm delivering your commode, we decided she didn't need it anymore and we're planning on stopping the delivery but before we could tell him that he hung up the phone. Not two minutes later there's banging on our front door and we go to the door it's Larry Wright the delivery driver!! He looks at us like he expected us to take the commode so we back away from the door and have him put it down. We decided to keep it because it was free thanks to her insurance but i've never dealt with a ruder delivery driver!! So glad we don't have to deal with them again for a long time read more
