I am very pleased to recommend Consider It Covered (in Eagle River) for your interior design needs…read more Lisa Maines and her mother Connie definitely have a unique "eye" for design. My husband and I own an old family cottage in nearby Three Lakes, and we have greatly benefited from their expertise as we have made improvements. Lately, we have focused on replacing window treatments throughout our cottage. Each room has had its unique issues that have required individual treatment. As a recent example, our lakefront cottage has large, westward-facing windows that have given us a problem with intense glare off the water in late afternoons. Lisa and Connie struck a good balance by suggesting window shades that would block the glare but would not be too opaque. They also encouraged us to select a deep brown color, which would serve as a backdrop to our "very beige" furniture. I tend to be cautious about using any bold color, so I was hesitant at first, but am now so glad we followed through with their suggestion -- we love the result! The deep brown tone actually has a neutral effect, but it also offers real "punch" and gives a warm and cozy feeling. Additionally, unlike "big box" stores, they came out to make accurate measurements and provided installation services for our new shades. As an added bonus, they have also offered expert advice when we have needed help in selecting paint colors for our other interior, and even exterior, needs. In all aspects, they have been delightful to work with. I couldn't recommend them more! Betsy Brown

We were interested in renovating our first floor, from the floors to cabinetry, basically an overhaul of the kitchen and main living spaces. We had a budget and Kim was unbelievably gracious, knowledgeable, and incredibly talented! She designed a layout that was and still is absolutely perfect. We had chosen Kraftmaid Thermafoil white cabinets, knowing the pros and cons, and used Elegant Stone for an incredible granite counter top. My husband is an electrician and wanted to do all the demo (floors to ceiling ~ popcorn scraping), but it was such a fabulous day when we left for work and Kim and her team came in and completed the laminate flooring (Mohawk ~ chosen per Kim's suggestion since it had the most natural look with pattern option to real wood, but stayed within our budget) and then had the cabinets and kitchen completed within another couple of days. We were so thrilled that we went back to her and chose to carpet our main stairs, along with our basement stairs, and two first floor rooms. Kim's attention to detail really helped us choose the best selection. We are still incredibly pleased with the results six years later. I'm writing this review now because we recently contacted Interior Designs about a couple of Kraftmaid cabinets that were bubbling on the front. Kim immediately got back to me, and though her store doesn't sell the Thermafoil line anymore, she made a point of getting in touch with some representatives and verified the cabinets we were concerned about and within a week we had replacements, free of charge!!! Never in my life have I experienced such attentiveness to detail, quality, expediency, and customer care. I highly recommend Kim Carlson for any and all design needs and the store in which she works, Interior Designs, has an excellent selection of all designing needs for the house, no budget too great or small for their team to provide excellent service and products. We love our 1st floor renovations and look forward to having Kim tackle our closet size upstairs bathroom...if anyone can make something out of nothing, it is definitely Kim Carlson from Interior Designs in Holmen.

In 2008, the Issis family embarked on a new business venture: the opening of Issis & Sons Furniture Gallery in Pelham, at the intersection of Cahaba Valley Road and Alabama 119. Issis says he responded to suggestions from the professional designers he works with that his company offer furniture, drapes, accessories and more. "It was right around the time the economy bottomed out, and our designers thought that our customers would respond well to having things packaged and available all under one roof. So we broadened our services to offer all the amenities of interior design." In 2014, Greenbrier Furniture closed after 50 years of business in Vestavia Hills, and Issis purchased the 28,000 square-foot landmark building for his newest location. Issis points out that the store's name, Issis & Sons-Greenbrier, is a nod to the building's history. "It's a great location and will be great for our customers. We're happy to be in Vestavia Hills."
