We had a medium sized tree at the corner of our house that was causing problems with the roof, and possibly the foundation. We wanted that tree removed, and also another tree trimmed. Lane's prices were by far the best, and he personally comes out and trims all the trees. He came out on a holiday weekend and got the job done fast. Cleanup was quick, and the lawn was left pristine. We tried Kilpatric after using another company to remove a large tree that we were very unsatisfied with. The guy that owns and runs this company is a throw back to an era when people took pride in their work. They showed up on time and worked very hard the entire time they were here. We had them remove a very large tree that was close to our house and hanging over a neighbors property. They got it down without so much as a scratch on anything. We also had them thin out several other trees. He didn't just lob off some limbs here and there but actually climbed up into the trees and very thoughtfully removed branches in a way that that I can only describe as artistic. A neighbor recommended Lane when I told them I needed someone to prune a giant, lop-sided Liquid Amber and to clear out several potentially problematic trees. I called, left a message and Lane called back the next day to arrange for a free estimate. We had a couple other quotes but decided to go with Lane. His estimate for pruning and tree removal was very reasonable , though be aware his company does not provide tree stump removal services. For that, he has recommendations. On the day of the appointment, he and his crew arrived slightly early and began work immediately. The crew was efficient and all the trees slated to be removed were down to stumps in short order. The large tree in our front yard was pruned beautifully, left looking clean, yet still very natural. I absolutely did not want a perfectly manicured, plastic-looking tree. It still suffers a little from a past hack-job by someone else, but Lane's crew was able to make it look even better than I thought possible! Several neighbors even stopped to complement the work after he left. You don't realize how important your tree is to others until you take a saw out. read more

Lane Kilpatric gave me perfect service at a great price. We have a huge elm tree in our backyard, so I definitely needed professional trimming. For the quote process, Lane came on time and wrote down everything I wanted, which included trimming of some smaller trees. I'm pointing this out because some of the other guys who gave me quotes didn't write down the full scope of what I wanted in their quotes. His quoted price was also excellent and happened to be slightly lower than my next best offer. We scheduled today for our tree trimming. He said he would come at 8am and showed up a few minutes early. His team came with proper protective equipment and a specialized truck to incinerate tree branches on the spot. They whipped out their chainsaws and completed all of the trimming in about 2 hours! Given the size of our elm tree and the time expectations set forth by competing bidders, I was very surprised by their speed. Best of all, our elm tree still looks attractive! I also liked the fact that after they completed trimming but before they started cleanup, Lane walked with me around our yard and showed me what they did to make sure everything met my expectations. After getting my approval, they proceeded to clean up. Their cleanup job left our yard looking better than before they arrived. They picked up all of their scraps and used a leaf blower to remove small debris. In total, for a big job that exceeded $700 worth of work, they finished in 2.5 hours. He showed up on time and within a day or two of my call to give me an estimate. I felt the price was very fair. We have some very large Canary Pines in our yard that we have trimmed every 4 - 6 years and have done so for over 15 years. Once we scheduled the work, Lane and his crew showed up on time and completed the work as he said they would. Everything was cleaned up when they were finished and the trees looked great and the yard looked clean. Sorry, but I would never use this service again. Completely missed the fact that at tree was rotted out at the roots and so it fell over on my house during the next storm. We just had Lane and his crew come and do extensive tree work at our home and we couldn't be happier with the results. We had to have a very large dead maple tree removed from our yard, and we were impressed with the skill Lane took, making sure that no branches landed on our roof or landscaping. They were very neat, leaving our yard cleaner than it was when they arrived, and were polite and very knowledgable. Lane and his crew are truly artists, and made our giant magnolia tree in our back yard look majestic again. They cleaned up our redwood tree nicely, removing many drooping branches that had been damaged during winter storms. They even cleaned the dead palm fronds off our palm tree, shaped some old olive trees, and pruned back our unruly pyracantha bushes, and other shrubs. I am a bit late in adding my rave reviews for the service Lane provided. We had trees that obviously had not been maintained for many years, birch trees in the backyard and pepper trees in the front yard, and huge pine trees we share with our neighbors that were hanging over our garage roof a bit too closely. Upon recommendation of my brother & sis-in-law, we called on Lane. He came out, took his time looking at the yard and trees and gave me a very fair and accurate bid on the work. He has a great eye for landscaping and pointed out some overgrown bush trees in our backyard were overwhelming the space, and suggested their removal would really open up the backyard. He offered to take those out as well, at a very reasonable price. He came out and did the work, and when I came home I was so very very impressed I had to call him to tell him how awesome his work was...everything was light and airy and yet did not look like anything had been pruned. He spent considerable time on the pepper trees in the front yard, which were loaded with dead, fine branches, which he completely cleared out, it was so impressive. Everything was neat and clean, no leaves or branches to be seen. He will be my "go-to" tree guy every time. I am hoping we will be able to remove the pine trees at some point, and he has the job as soon as everyone agrees they can go!! Highly recommended!! read more

Lane removed a couple of trees and shrubs from our backyard and trimmed several other trees and hedges, including bay laurel, magnolia, lemon, orange and a very tall palm tree. He did and excellent job in less than 3 hours and left the place completely clean, even picked up all the junk that we had created ourselves and that had nothing to do with his work. It has been a pleasant experience overall. I called his office very late in the afternoon but the call was promptly answered, an appointment was immediately set for the same week, he showed up promptly, was very knowledgeable and gave us great advice on our landscaping and tree care. He gave us a detailed estimated for the work immediately, explained his pricing model and costs, which we found reasonable and when we agreed he immediately scheduled the work giving us exact date and time. His crew was professional and our garden looks great. The only thing I did not realize was that stump removal was not included, apparently that is an extra service at an additional cost, but perhaps that was my mistake for not asking. read more
