Had a banana and berry smoothie that was good, but not quite as sweet as I like. My daughter had an outstanding "fiesta" quinhoa bowl. There is not much indoor seating, but very nice umbrella covered tables outside. The cafe is down an alley away from the street, so the setting is reasonably protected and quiet. True five star ratings are hard to come by. But this place I can confidently give 5 stars to after several visits. First visit I opted for a smoothie. It was so yummy that a couple weeks later I decided to go back for another. Just as good as the first and this time I decided to give one of their vegan almond cookies a try... Heavenly, I could have eaten several in one sitting! Third visit I met a friend and tried their cold brew coffee and egg Sammie. Wow! That cold brew coffee was beyond any expectation I thought I had. They make their iced coffee with frozen ice cubes of coffee so my drink never got watered down. The egg Sammie was so good! I got the gluten free bread and that was a great choice! Their pumpkin acai bowl is delicious too! Seating is limited but each time I went I was able to grab a chair. Prices are not too bad. My smoothies have been between $7-10 but I add things to them. Perfect spot for healthy food and drinks. They have a variety of coffee, tea, smoothies for drink and then a food menu with salads, wraps & bowls. Everything is extremely fresh and staff is very friendly. I got the Kindle Tea (really good) and the Mediterranean Bowl (Get it!). Strawberry acai bowl was fantastic! Very yummy and looks pretty too. As for the smoothies though, I was not a fan of the blueberry basil. Basil was overwhelming and not worth $8. Overall good place though, would definitely come in again for a smoothie bowl or to try something else read more

I love going to Laney & Lu on weekends with my friends. The food is phenomenal and the smoothies are some of the best I've ever had. Everything is very healthy, which is a big plus. The only downsides are that the prices are a little high, especially for the smoothies, and there isn't enough seating, given the place's popularity. 'Saw this little jewel on Chronicle one evening so I decided to check it out, especially since I live in Exeter. Laney & Lu is located behind Serendipity and can be accessed from either the brick walkway to the side of the building or from the public parking lot on Water St. Clean Environment... Clean Food... Picked up a muffin too because it looked too good to resist (haven't tried it yet but based off of everything else, I'm pretty sure it'll be absolutely delicious). Our first and last time, ordered 3 lunch items, $37. a tip was automatically added without our knowledge, because we ordered online. But the main grip was the egg sandwich, it was only a 1/2 sandwich, 1 slice of bread....it is not described on the menu as 1/2. Enormous Salad was a normal dinner salad of lettuce & fixings nothing special, and not a meal, it's all relative. The wrap was the only food item that was good size, but very little Falafel, they forgot the yogurt dressing and red onions. For the amount of food, it's overpriced. read more

I frequently take the 40 minute drive out to Exeter just for Laney and Lu. This little cafe tucked into historic downtown Exeter is absolutely the most charming place to eat in the area. The owner (whose name I forget) is an incredibly kind woman, obviously passionate about eating, creating, and providing wholesome food. There are many vegan options as well as options for those who eat dairy and eggs. The nori rolls are excellent, as well as the epic egg sammy. Don't leave without trying the turmeric latte. Amazing little spot in downtown Exeter. It has a very cozy inside with limited seating, so plan accordingly. When it's nice outside, there is a lovely outdoor patio with seating. Everyone is very warm and friendly and I've loved everything I've tried off the menu so far! It's definitely on the pricey side and items add up quickly, but you're paying for quality food. Good healthy food, but the girl on register totally messed up my order and never asked me if I use Clover app to get points. I spent a lot of money, and would have liked the points. This place is awesome. Exeter has such cool places, and Laney & Lu is truly unique. I had a smoothie bowl, a latte, and my boyfriend had a smoothie. One of the best smoothies I have ever had in my life, I believe it was the Sweet Green. I really want to try the turmeric latte. The seating is limited, but the space is clean and cute. Went here yesterday for the first time with a friendly who was also dying to try it out...needless to say we are now huge fans! I got the Nori Roll - it was fabulous! Tasted great & good for you! My (almost) 2 year old daughter was a big fan of the Pineapple Mango smoothy. And the blueberry strawberry muffin was 4 year old approved! My friend also said the Chai smoothie was delicious and filling! I will definitely go back and have already told a co-worker that its a 'must try'! The only downfall was that indoor seating only sits about 13 tightly, but there is outdoor seating as well (happened to be snowing though)! I assume the nice weather will make this place very busy!
