The space was nice and spacious, and conveniently located in Westport. They have nice specials that are reasonably priced. Went during live country music night and it was a great time! The food was just ok to me, and the dessert was more on the bland side, but the service was amazing, and overall, had a great time. Would come back!

Newly opened in Westport.. this concept is 2nd of the same company who owns Tin Roof. The space fits right in to Westport scene, TVs, bandstand area where live music on specified days along with convenient self ordering kiosk towards the back. Our server Donald was cool. Laid back and just attentive enough. I tried the Seoul Bird with fries and I loved the sandwich upto when the edges of the chicken seemed to only the crunchy batter.. the kimchi slaw was pretty good. The chicken had a good crunch and flavor. We also had the Dill Frickles which I appreciated were not caked with breading but lightly surrounded and not too sweet. The portion size of the sandwich was large. I could only eat half of the sandwich along with some of the fries. Even though you don't get a lot of the shoe string fries I think it compliments the fact the sandwich is the main dish. My gf had Laneys Get Down sandwich which too was a nice portion as only half was devoured. Her side was the Mac & cheese which was cheesy... I could taste what I think was Gouda and butter... whatever other cheese was present made a good combination. No to go lids for Mac & cheese Prices are reasonable.

We decided to try Laney's recently and I have mixed feelings. We ordered online without issue and headed to the restaurant. They are in the old McCoys and thankfully they kept the awesome patio. We arrived early so we decided to grab a drink at the outdoor bar. I ordered the crushed Paloma: espolon blanco tequila, triple sec, sprite, and fresh grapefruit juice. It's served on crushed ice. It was refreshing and was a great drink for the beautiful day. Once the food was done, we grabbed it and headed home. The two individuals who served us were friendly and nice. I ordered 3 jumbo tenders plus an extra, I opted for Nashville hot. My boyfriend ordered half a bird-breast, wing, thigh, and drum, all Nashville hot. The meals come with two side and a biscuit, so we opted for the Mac and cheese, Brussels sprouts, and a double order of fries. We also got ranch, honey mustard, and Laney's sauce. I have to preface this by saying that I can handle heat. I frequently order spicy foods and usually find it not too hot. And my boyfriend's tolerance is higher than mine. We both agreed after eating the chicken, that opting for the Nashville hot was a mistake. That was by far the hottest Nashville hot I've ever had. And I've had Nashville hot chicken in Nashville. It was way over the top. To the point that it was miserable. I believe it's some sort of hot oil that they smother the poor chicken with. The carry out box was full of it and I've included a pic because it's not an exaggeration. We didn't eat all of it and we ended up waiting 3 days before attempting to eat the leftovers to give our GI tracts a much needed reprieve. It was definitely a spice you taste twice. Iykyk Anyway, round two we used paper towels to mop up some of the oil and it seemed to lessen that heat. Not enough to not make me preemptively take some pepto. The chicken itself was good. The tenders were good sized. I would try it again but without the Nashville hot seasoning. That was a one and done. The French fries were ok. They were reminiscent of the Golden Arches variety. The Brussel sprouts were also fine. And the Mac and cheese was also average but it was a little grainy. I honestly couldn't really taste the sides because of my mouth being on fire from Satan's chicken. The biscuits that came with the meals were plopped in the grease filled boxes of chicken. So the biscuits soaked up a fair amount of the spice. However, I also ordered a buttermilk biscuit basket that was supposed to come with 3 biscuits, whipped sorghum butter, and blackberry jam. We got the biscuits, but no butter or jam which was the entire reason I ordered it. In the end, I'm glad I ordered it because I was able to try an unadulterated biscuit and honestly, it was my favorite thing from them. I'd just order the biscuits. I'll have to return and try them again. But if you go, definitely get some biscuits and a drink.

It was a great experience at Laney's, they just opened for brunch and they were doing great! The food came out fast and the eggs for the scramble were cooked perfectly! The waffle was fluffy and flavorful! Can't wait to come during lunchtime and use the patio when it's nice out.

Run, don't walk, to the newest corner spot on the block! Bonus - sit on the patio during beautiful weather days. Absolutely delicious food and paired with their homemade hot sauce will leave your mouth watering for more. They also have such a creative cocktail menu (highly recommend the Little Pick-Me-Up). Live Music, Brunch and friendly fast service are also part of this amazing spot's offerings so plenty of ways to get down at Laney's.

I hadn't been to this place since it was McCoys. It's a cute 70's-inspired place with great music and old TV shows playing. The owner was super nice, as was the bartender. We were there early on a Saturday afternoon, so it wasn't busy, but we were told they have live music there often (they even take the tables away at night). I'm sure that is a much younger crowd (it's Westport, so totally expected). Afternoon was great for my friend and I....will certainly go back to try the food...it looked amazing! :)

I must say that I am impressed by the food. I got the 1/4 Dark Plate. It was so worth it. The Potato salad had skins on it but it was flavorful. The Coleslaw was a little acidic but also very creamy. The chicken was crispy and tasted great. The banana pudding was a bit mediocre and did not have the full flavors I was anticipating for. I got their Guava Aperol spritz and it was delicious. I would recommend this place. Moreover, the service was fast and friendly. The dining area was clean and spacious. I would be coming back.

This place is located in the Westport area. Since Monday was a slow day we seated ourselves. The waitress (Tessa) came over immediately and gave us the rundown of the place as well as the menu. It's all about southern fried chicken. The atmosphere gave you that 60's to 80's dance vibe. Live music and DJ's on the weekend. I chose the 1/4 white with Mac & cheese and Brussels sprouts. My friend had the tenders with shoestring fries and baked beans. It was very good. The Mac & cheese needed a little work but the rest fantastic. The drinks were fun and interesting as well. I would definitely go back again and I am sure the weekends are busy! Nice hang out spot! Give it a try if you love chicken and great music on the weekends!

I came back to Laney's for a first date with a guy. It was so incredible yet again. The vibe is so low pressure and all of the service people are vibrant, attentive, and so kind. Larissa is one of my best friends from college, so obviously I love her and come to this place for her service. However her, and her colleagues China, and Emily, have consistently gone out of their way to create memorable eating experiences for me. This is definitely an LGBTQ+ friendly and inclusive business, which, is so important that Kansas City continues to add queer friendly businesses in this super trendy area of KC. There are a lot of straight dive bars but this is a really fun and different ambiance that is inclusive to all persons! The live music is just such a game changer. I never thought I'd crave coming here just for the violins, or MADD Honey which is one of my favorite bands I've gotten to discover in the times I've come here. The drinks are great, I love their alcoholic specialty tea and it's a pretty good price! The food is fantastic, the chicken feels like it's never frozen and the biscuits are HUMONGOUS! I also get the biscuits appetizer and just add 3 chicken fingers to make little sandwiches. Super affordable, and super fun! I will continue to support Laneys in the coming years.

We miss what was here before but we really like what's taken over! The chicken is crispy and JUICY! The breading they use is light but coast the entire meat and doesn't fall off when you bite into it. The chicken is perfectly cooked and we were surprised it wasn't dry with how crispy the skin was. The biscuits were delicious! Hot, soft, and perfect pairing. The French toast was good! The Betty compote was perfectly balanced and not too sweet. The Korean sandwich was delicious and we both were fighting over it! Love the sauce it's dipped in and loved the kimchi, I'll have to get extra next time! The Mac and cheese was good but noting to rave about. The pimento we sent back, it wasn't mixed right and the cream cheese ratio to cheddar cheese shreds were so off that it just felt like clumps of shredded cheese and wasn't spreadable..the manager was super great and took it off our bill and the waitress was so so sweet and made sure we had everything we needed and had great recommendations! We know it's new but they're going in the right directions!

Quarter Chicken Dark with Beans and Brussell Sprouts.

I know this location well. When I used to visit Westport, I had been there when it was Mickey's Hideaway and ever before that when it was McCoy's. Both places before Laney's Get Down were cool places but they were never known for their grub, decent bar food, but it would never be confused for a gastro-pub. I was hoping that Laney's Get Down would be associated as a great fried chicken place. I got the quarter dark chicken meal with beans and brussel sprouts. With a beer, tax and tip, the cost was $25. At that price, my expectation is that it needs to taste better than a fast food place, like KFC or Popeye's, let alone a great chicken place like Rye's in Leawood, but it wasn't. Like an instagram picture, the food looked great, but what a picture can't show, is the taste. Starting with the good, the sides (brussel sprouts and baked beans) were very good. However, the chicken and biscuit were not good. The chicken was lukewarm and I felt that it was sitting for a while because it was not crispy but soggy. The chicken didn't have much of a taste to it either, I wondered if they actually had a spice profile because the flavor was bland. The biscuit was not only lukewarm, but it was doughy, as if it were under-cooked. Even the hot honey and hot sauce didn't have any heat, just some sweetness and sourness, respectively. As I was walking to Laney's, I passed by places that I used to eat at. Places like Jerusalem Cafe, The Beer Kitchen and Harry's. All these places were reasonably full with eaters. I was one 5 customers here. My server was pleasant though. I hope it does better with the food, as it is a new business, but until then, I don't think I could recommend this place based on my visit there.

    Hot Honey, sooo good!

We ordered Old Fashioned which was what you would expect. The Suburban Sunset was different and good but a bit syrupy. I finished with the espresso martini which was very good and very strong. For food we had oysters on the half shell that were fresh and hit the spot. Next Yard Bird which is chicken meat balls. The flavor is good but they are mushy. Probably won't get them again. The chicken, steak and shrimp sticks were ok. The chicken had a rubbery texture. The star of the night was the fried lobster bites. Very good. Chicken and beef sliders were good but again the chicken was rubbery. The fries were also very good. The flat iron steak was cooked perfectly and had great flavor. To me it reminds me of lamb chops which I love. We finished with the 24 carrot truffle which was nice but not great. Overall we had a good time at Prime Social and would come back.

It's located in a cool area in the middle of the plaza right underneath Chiefs Fit gym. As soon as you enter you get a feel for the great ambiance and fun variety of music. We came in during a cold snowy day and took full advantage of the FREE coat check at the front desk. On the first floor there's a mini golf course as well as a full bar and seating area. Once you go downstairs though, you'll see just how massive the place is. Theres TONS of seating and cool little nooks to hangout in which make it great for a date night or corporate events. Once you get into the mini golf there's some great courses to check out. Each one has a different theme and they make it super simple to track your points. Simply enter the names of all your players on the touch screen at the first hole, then enter the number of strokes afterwards. After that it will follow you throughout the course until you're finished and tell you who wins at the end! There's also a place to sit your drinks at the start of each hole with a menu of course specific cocktails that I highly recommend trying. Every part of this place is perfect to take pictures and have a great time. But in my opinion, the true highlight of the Puttery is the food. I had the pleasure of meeting the head chef while here and he truly puts his heart into the menu. Our server Mariah was also super helpful giving us drink and food recommendations throughout our time here. Everything sounded amazing but I had to go with the Cajun Chicken Philly since I'm a sucker for a Philly sandwich. It was one of my favorite sandwiches I've ever had. From the soft delicious bread to the unbelievably juicy and tender chicken, this was such a great dish. The combination of ingredients and the plating itself made it clear that nothing comes as an afterthought here. I also tried the loaded fries which were a great recent addition to the menu. Last, we finished it off by trying the Tiramisu, Raspberry Donut Cheesecake, and the Bourbon Bread Pudding. Each one was really amazing but my favorite was the Raspberry Donut Cheesecake, and I'm not even a huge cheesecake fan! I definitely plan to come back here just for the food because it was so delicious!! And on top of that, they recently started a meal prep service which I plan to take full advantage of! Overall you can tell that every detail is thought through at the Puttery. It truly feels like a luxury experience with an element of fun to round it out. The bartender and gist of other servers were professional with great personable service, we carried on great conversation in between rooms and encounters. It made for a fun and enjoyable dining and celebratory experience!

Nestled inside the ultra-luxurious Raphael Hotel, this upscale Restaurant/jazz club had our group feeling like we were heading to a high-society adult prom. The ambiance practically demands a raised eyebrow and a sophisticated toast. Naturally, the libations were flowing. On one end of the table sat a chocolate martini so decadent it looked borderline sinful. On the polar opposite end of the spectrum, I ordered an extra-dirty Chopin martini, complete with blue-cheese-stuffed olives. Look, it didn't reinvent the wheel, but it was executed exactly the way I'd make it at home--assuming I could ever actually find a bottle of Chopin in any of our local liquor establishments. (Seriously, who is hoarding it?) We kicked things off with the gourmet bread basket. Do yourself a favor and cough up the extra $5 for the super soft bread and whipped butter; your tastebuds will thank you for not being cheap. For my starter, I opted for the she-crab soup, which presented itself as a spectacularly rich crab bisque. Word on the street is that she-crab Is vastly superior to he-crab. This is a PG-rated review, so I shall leave the mechanics to your imagination. Then came the piece de résistance: the 12-ounce ribeye, flanked by asparagus spears and Delmonico potatoes. This sucker was thick. When I asked our waitress for a proper steak knife, she politely pointed to my standard-issue butter knife and confidently declared, "That's it!" I thought she was joking. She wasn't. Melt-in-your-mouth is an understatement; this medium-rare masterpiece yielded to a butter knife like it was soft brie. The sides were equally stellar. The Delmonico potatoes were a beautifully elevated, elite version of scalloped potatoes, and the asparagus was snappy, tender, and perfectly seasoned. The evening's only tragic misstep was the cheesecake. It, too, was incredibly thick--but in all the wrong ways. While fortunately not overbaked, the texture resembled a very well-flavored, highly gourmet paste. To add insult to injury, the graham cracker crust had completely surrendered its structural integrity, offering none of the classic crunch I crave. Minor dessert tragedy aside, it was a phenomenal evening. The service was impeccable, the vibe was unmatched, and that steak alone warrants a return visit. Next time, I'll just be exploring a different corner of the dessert menu.
