    Crème brûlée
    Susanne M.

To be clear - this is a review of the bar &also restaurant. Bar: We stayed in the hotel, so we wanted to enjoy the bar. It was Black Friday. We sat down waited way too long to even be noticed. Tried signature drinks Pom & Oak and snickerdoodle martini. They were pretty sweet & not strong. We ordered a creme brulee, which was served cold & came with 2 spoons that my husband called 'snow shovels' as they were about 50% of the dessert plate. It was a nice brûlée, just wish it wasn't so chilled. Overall, just okay for us. 3 stars on food &drinks but service was just so lacking that it loses a star. Restaurant: Service was not good here. We arrived at 10 with reservation, watched everyone after us get attention. 10 minutes before waiter 'saw' us. I got a mimosa, husband ordered cappuccino. I sipped slowly but he didn't get his drink for 20 more minutes. Plus I guess a printer in kitchen broke down so everyone was waiting on food. we didn't get food until 11:10, then felt like they were pushing us out as they close at 11. So sorry! So just like the bar- the food was okay, but service dropped another star. We canceled day 2 breakfast there, just not worth our time to get ignored. Also having loud small children in the small dining area was just annoying after a while. (I tried to stay patient, truly)

I snagged a reservation for Nine Zero One just in time for KC Restaurant Week, and I'm so glad I did. They offered a $55 three-course meal, and while cocktails weren't included, I didn't mind. To start, I went with Gingy's Spiked Hot Chocolate. This place is NOT shy with their liquor pours--it was strong, but the vodka worked so well with the gingerbread and hot chocolate flavors. My partner got the Apple Spice and Everything Nice, and it was delicious--like a perfect spiced apple cider! For the first course, I had the crab cake. It was good but nothing mind-blowing. The saffron aioli was a little sweet for my taste; I think a more neutral aioli would've worked better, but overall, no major complaints. My partner had the fried Brussels sprouts, which tasted exactly like you'd expect--crispy and flavorful. For my main course, I went with the salmon. The butternut squash risotto? Absolutely amazing--easily the highlight of the dish. The salmon was cooked fine, but the pesto cream sauce didn't necessarily taste like pesto. Honestly, I think it would've been better paired with steak. Speaking of steak, my partner ordered the Surf & Turf, which was solid. He asked for medium, but it came out closer to medium-well--not a big deal for us, but worth mentioning. Dessert was crème brûlée and flourless chocolate cake. The chocolate cake was a little too rich for me, but the crème brûlée hit the spot. Overall, the cocktails and the butternut squash risotto were the real standouts for me. I'd definitely come back just for those two things! Great experience overall, and I'd recommend checking it out especially if you're staying at The Fontaine.

We had an amazing time in our igloo at Nine Zero One! Our two hours captured both an amazing sunset from the rooftop as well as the festive lights as the sky went dark. Once inside, we were greeted with hot chocolate and cookies, a warm heater, and a sound system that we could play our own music to. We did have some issues with the music and power and lost about 30 minutes of our time while they fixed it but in the end, all was well. The igloos are soundproof and cozy for up to eight people. There is a bar menu which we ordered additional drinks and snacks from during our time. The drinks were festive and the snacks were yummy. All in all, the experience was so much fun and a highlight for our family!

Loved this place. It's inside the fountain hotel we were staying at. And I love the ambience and the drinks were great too.

Visited this place during restaurant week! The views are great, the service was wonderful, the food was enjoyable as well as my apple cider drink! We didn't do the igloos but they were available! We will definitely return.

Nine Zero One Was A Conflicting Experience For Me. The Hotel And Bar Were Luxurious And Upscale. The Servers And Hostess Were So Kind! The Drinks Were AMAZING! I Had The Snickerdoodle Martini And It Was Delicious. We Also Ordered A Steak Flat Bread Which Was Pretty Good. The Rest Of The Food However Was Disappointing. I Went With A Small Group Of Two Other Ladies. One Of My Friends Ordered The Steak Done Medium That Was Unfortunately Undercooked And Unable To Be Cut And The Other Had Underdone Chicken. I Ordered A Honey Badger Sandwich That Was Supposed To Have Hot Honey Sauce However, It Tasted More Like Barbecue Sauce. I Wanted To Love Nine Zero One As The Service And Drinks Were Amazing! However, I Would Unfortunately Not Return For The Food Especially Since The Pricing Is Upscale For A Not So Upscale Experience.

Got the chance to check Nine Zero One with a grouo of my friends. We had a great time, sipping on some cocktails and trying out some of the appetizers there were to offer. This spot is located on the top of the Fontaine hotel service was super quick and friendly. I would recommend making a reservation prior to arrival. They do have an outside bar and spice you can reserve I tried out the espresso, martini and a sangria, both were great. I would recommend parking in the parking garage and getting it validated inside. The pool area is great for summer and in the winter I highly recommend checking out the igloo bar. This space provides great views of the plaza area and there is a beautiful bar space and fireplace inside. I highly recommend this place for a girls day or date. There is a huge selection of snacks, appetizers, larger plates, cocktails, beer, and wine for guests to choose from and enjoy.

This bar is very comfy, the furniture was made for socializing and looking over the plaza. The drinks were strong and tasty, i loved my grilled cheese, the staff made sure to take care of you during your visit. I did not get the chance to dine outside it was too hot, but there was a pool and cabanas you could reserve.

Don't forget your watch!! Igloos are timed so just be ready to experience and embrace the adventure! My family really enjoyed the experience and were quite surprised at how quickly we could acclimate to the experience of being on the snowy rooftop It's not about the food, it's about the experience! So, we planned our visit after a nice dinner at Savoy. The rooftop Igloo was basically "the icing" on the Christmastime evening filled with bubbles and treats

    shrimp tacos

Everything we ordered was delicious and our servers were super nice. They also gave great recommendations for our food and drinks!

Nine Zero One Igloo Bar is a pop up experience located on The Fontaine's 7th story rooftop from late Nov to early March. You must have a reservation for the private igloos. Igloo reservations are $132 (after fees) for 6 people ($22/person) for 90 minutes. There are 4 igloos total with 3 time slots available: 4:30pm (sunset), 6:45pm, and 8:30pm. Our reservation was at 8:30pm - which meant that, because of the city's current 10pm curfew, our last call was one hour in (at 9:30pm) and we had to be out by 9:57pm. We managed to fit in three rounds with the last drink arriving 5 minutes before we were asked to leave. For drinks, the guys liked The Banana Stand and the ladies enjoyed the Pas De Deux Cranberry cocktail. Overall, we had a great (safe) night. Staff followed all COVID precautions. We loved all of the photo ops, our clean, cozy igloo and the ability to control your own heat and music volume. If you don't have a reservation (or don't want to pay for it) but want to get a peak at this exclusive winter wonderland, you can still get a free seat in the "Ice Tundra" bar/lounge area. COVID Precautions: - 30% space capacity. - Two household limit per Igloo/table. - Igloos are professionally fogged and wiped down to sanitize between each rental. - Private elevator to the 7th floor. - Names collected for contract tracing. - Extra masks and cleaning supplies on hand.

This is such a fun and welcoming environment! They do an amazing job decorating for the holidays! Best to go with a full party (6-8 people whichever is allowed) to help with the cost. The servers were all so kind, and they even had a grinch who added to the holiday spirits. Cocktail choices were tasty and the apps (I had the steak flatbread) were delicious!

This rooftop gem on the Country Club Plaza has such a youthful, energetic vibe--perfect for a milestone like this. Our server was excellent--super friendly, attentive, and even recommended a beautiful and delicious cocktail that paired perfectly with our dinner. We went all out and sampled a ton from the menu: fried lobster tail, pepperoni pizza, spicy tuna roll, salmon roll, wagyu Nagiri, oysters with caviar, and wagyu sliders. Most of the food was absolutely delicious! The sushi rolls stood out with their unique flavors and beautiful presentation--what a nice surprise. Our absolute favorites were the wagyu nagiri (melt-in-your-mouth incredible) and the oysters with caviar. The wagyu sliders were also a hit. That said, the fried lobster tail was a bit of a letdown--chewy and lacking the flavor punch that everything else delivered. The atmosphere is lively and fun, but heads up: it gets very loud. We were at one of those tiny cocktail tables and basically had to yell across it to chat, which made conversation a challenge during dinner. On the bright side, we scored an amazing seat with a stunning view of the Plaza. Watching the sunset while eating was magical and made the whole experience feel extra special for a birthday. Overall, great food (with just a couple minor misses), awesome vibes, top-notch service, and that unbeatable rooftop setting. I'd definitely recommend Prime Social and we'd go back in a heartbeat--maybe just bring earplugs if you're planning to talk a lot! 4 stars.

It has a very aesthetic, elevated feel. I ordered the burnt end flatbread, which had great flavor, but it could've used a little more time in the oven for a better crisp. It's located in a cool area in the middle of the plaza right underneath Chiefs Fit gym. As soon as you enter you get a feel for the great ambiance and fun variety of music. We came in during a cold snowy day and took full advantage of the FREE coat check at the front desk. On the first floor there's a mini golf course as well as a full bar and seating area. Once you go downstairs though, you'll see just how massive the place is. Theres TONS of seating and cool little nooks to hangout in which make it great for a date night or corporate events. Once you get into the mini golf there's some great courses to check out. Each one has a different theme and they make it super simple to track your points. Simply enter the names of all your players on the touch screen at the first hole, then enter the number of strokes afterwards. After that it will follow you throughout the course until you're finished and tell you who wins at the end! There's also a place to sit your drinks at the start of each hole with a menu of course specific cocktails that I highly recommend trying. Every part of this place is perfect to take pictures and have a great time. But in my opinion, the true highlight of the Puttery is the food. I had the pleasure of meeting the head chef while here and he truly puts his heart into the menu. Our server Mariah was also super helpful giving us drink and food recommendations throughout our time here. Everything sounded amazing but I had to go with the Cajun Chicken Philly since I'm a sucker for a Philly sandwich. It was one of my favorite sandwiches I've ever had. From the soft delicious bread to the unbelievably juicy and tender chicken, this was such a great dish. The combination of ingredients and the plating itself made it clear that nothing comes as an afterthought here. I also tried the loaded fries which were a great recent addition to the menu. Last, we finished it off by trying the Tiramisu, Raspberry Donut Cheesecake, and the Bourbon Bread Pudding. Each one was really amazing but my favorite was the Raspberry Donut Cheesecake, and I'm not even a huge cheesecake fan! I definitely plan to come back here just for the food because it was so delicious!! And on top of that, they recently started a meal prep service which I plan to take full advantage of! Overall you can tell that every detail is thought through at the Puttery. It truly feels like a luxury experience with an element of fun to round it out. The service is amazing and the food and drinks are to die for. If you're ever looking for a fun date night, a group outing, or even just a place for a solo dinner or drinks, you have to check this place out!

Gram & Dun was one of those restaurants. We show up for our reservations and get seated for a wonderful meal. Ambiance was surreal. The vibes inside were that of a modern Italian kitchen inside of a Southern parlor room. I know that doesn't make any sense, but it's true. And the restaurant looks out upon the quaint downtown street of this Kansas City suburb through giant, floor-to-ceiling windows. So beautiful. Service was great, as well. The server knew the menu very well, and was able to answer a few questions, guiding me to the correct thing to order. The apps, entrees, and dessert were all paced well, too. Service lead to a lovely evening. As for the food, we started off with the Not-So-Standard Potato Chips (parmesan, sauce flight: gold sauce, comeback sauce, black pepper bourbon ketchup). These were very good. House cooked chips that were just thick enough, had a good bite to them, and were absolutely covered in luscious parm. The sauce flight was fun, too. Keep the leftovers around to pair with the rest of your meal. Onto the Low Country Pimento Cheese (fried saltine crackers, candied black pepper bacon, bread & butter pickles, tomato jalapeño jam). Hillbilly charcuterie. Lots of fun to mix and match some bacon, some pickles, a little jam, all on those very unctuous Saltines. Very fun app. My main was the Brick Pressed Chicken (lemon & thyme brine, prosciutto & sausage bread pudding, caramelized cabbage, lemon & shallot cream sauce). Chicken was cooked to a charred perfection, that savory bread pudding was just an amazing as it sounds, and the cream sauce really brightened everything up. I don't usually get chicken, but I'm telling you, this was the chicken to get. I also got to try one of the nightly specials, some sort of cheesy parmesan pasta covered in black truffle shavings. It was as extravagant as it sounds. Fresh-made pastas, giant chunks of lobster, cheesy ooey gooey, and those truffle shavings add just a touch of class and umami that really made this a good pasta dish. We finished up with the Gram & Dun Bar (chocolate peanut and pretzel nougat, marshmallow cream cheese, chocolate mousse, peanut butter ice cream). Again, another thing I don't usually go for, the dessert bar, but this place did it in a way I haven't seen before. Each layer added to the dessert. Nougat, cream cheese, and mousse, all tied together with that cold, creamy peanut butter ice cream. So so good. Overall, as good as this place was on paper, Gram & Dun really blew me away. Really elegant food, found right in the heart of the country. It was a pleasant surprise, and I would come back in a heartbeat.

Nestled inside the ultra-luxurious Raphael Hotel, this upscale Restaurant/jazz club had our group feeling like we were heading to a high-society adult prom. The ambiance practically demands a raised eyebrow and a sophisticated toast. Naturally, the libations were flowing. On one end of the table sat a chocolate martini so decadent it looked borderline sinful. On the polar opposite end of the spectrum, I ordered an extra-dirty Chopin martini, complete with blue-cheese-stuffed olives. Look, it didn't reinvent the wheel, but it was executed exactly the way I'd make it at home--assuming I could ever actually find a bottle of Chopin in any of our local liquor establishments. (Seriously, who is hoarding it?) We kicked things off with the gourmet bread basket. Do yourself a favor and cough up the extra $5 for the super soft bread and whipped butter; your tastebuds will thank you for not being cheap. For my starter, I opted for the she-crab soup, which presented itself as a spectacularly rich crab bisque. Word on the street is that she-crab Is vastly superior to he-crab. This is a PG-rated review, so I shall leave the mechanics to your imagination. Then came the piece de résistance: the 12-ounce ribeye, flanked by asparagus spears and Delmonico potatoes. This sucker was thick. When I asked our waitress for a proper steak knife, she politely pointed to my standard-issue butter knife and confidently declared, "That's it!" I thought she was joking. She wasn't. Melt-in-your-mouth is an understatement; this medium-rare masterpiece yielded to a butter knife like it was soft brie. The sides were equally stellar. The Delmonico potatoes were a beautifully elevated, elite version of scalloped potatoes, and the asparagus was snappy, tender, and perfectly seasoned. The evening's only tragic misstep was the cheesecake. It, too, was incredibly thick--but in all the wrong ways. While fortunately not overbaked, the texture resembled a very well-flavored, highly gourmet paste. To add insult to injury, the graham cracker crust had completely surrendered its structural integrity, offering none of the classic crunch I crave. Minor dessert tragedy aside, it was a phenomenal evening. The service was impeccable, the vibe was unmatched, and that steak alone warrants a return visit. Next time, I'll just be exploring a different corner of the dessert menu.
