The homemade agua fresca (lime cucumber) was refreshingly delicious and their homemade guacamole was delicious too! I didn't opt for their homemade chips, wish I did. All in all, a quintessentially New York place that I hope lives forever. Yes I did buy myself a bottle of salsa verde to bring home at the same time while waiting for my food. They make 2 different kinds of soup daily, (chicken & tripe soup or whatever) 3 plates of different food (ox tail, steak, pork cops stewed/fried) which are always delicious. I have lived on 14th street for 50 years now & he is located right across the street & they even deliver in the mornings. They stock bathroom stuff, macaroni, sauces, candy, cigarettes, toothpaste etc.. This company is certified "For The People" when it comes to doing the right thing. A few years ago a bunch of morons went in there & thought it was going to an easy place to knock off. It was all caught on video, but I cannot find it anymore, I can only find the article that was written up. Two (2) guys walked in & announced "THIS IS A ROBBERY", then proceeded to put two (2) customers on the floor & told them not to move. The guy with the gun walked up to the guy behind the counter (Danny / no longer works there) & put a gun to his head. Danny didn't like the idea & pushed the gun to the side away from his face. The robber wasn't too smart because he did it again. This time Danny grabbed the gun & started to fight with him. He hit Danny in the face & his accomplice broke a bottle over Danny's face & then it was a few for all. All the customers both standing & laying down started to pound the gunman & they took away his gun but not before he could fire it into the wall during the struggle. There are no options by where I work and this was not too far away from fresh meadows where I live. I must say 5 out of 5. It was perfectly made and bread was lightly toasted and it hit the spot !!! I hope that next time I crave a chop cheese it will be just as good as it was that day.
