We hired this company to diagnose and repair a water-intrusion issue in our home. They told us the problem required replacing our entire roof. We trusted their professional assessment and spent $20,000 on a new roof, only to later discover that the actual issue was a small section of sheet metal or flashing that had lost its adhesion to the roof. The problem was ultimately fixed with Gorilla Glue.
In other words, after an extraordinarily expensive and disruptive roof replacement, we learned that the original problem had apparently been misdiagnosed and could have been addressed with an extremely minor repair.
Even their temporary attempts to fix the roof failed. During one of these temporary repairs, the roof leaked and destroyed our approximately $7,000 white couch. This was not a minor inconvenience or a small cosmetic issue. Their unsuccessful work resulted in thousands of dollars of additional damage inside our home.
The damage extended to our hardwood floors as well. During the mold-remediation process they arranged, portions of the wood were damaged and turned red with severe discoloration. Once again, we were left dealing with damage to our home that occurred during work performed under their oversight, without meaningful accountability or a satisfactory resolution.
During subsequent work, a third party hired through this company ripped holes through approximately $11K worth of wallpaper. Rather than take accountability, the company attempted to distance itself from the damage because the work had been performed by someone they hired. We hired and paid this company--not an unknown subcontractor--and expected them to ensure that anyone entering our home was qualified, professional and properly supervised.
The lack of communication and basic project management throughout the entire process was astonishing. Workers were repeatedly late or failed to show up, even after we had taken days off work specifically to accommodate them. Work was frequently left unattended. Messages routinely went unanswered or received extremely delayed responses.
When Tal (the "business" owner) did intermittently request a phone call he often seemed to have no context of the project, the previous conversations or the issues we were calling about. We repeatedly had to explain the entire situation from the beginning to Tal who appeared to have little or no context.
Perhaps most inappropriate of all, while these issues and damages remained unresolved, Tal, attempted to sell us solar panels. Given that we were already dealing with what we believed to be a severely misdiagnosed roof problem, extensive property damage, prolonged delays and a complete lack of accountability, trying to sell us an additional service was astonishingly tone-deaf. The priority should have been resolving the damage and rebuilding trust--not attempting to generate more business from us. Insane.
This all occurred while our toddler was still an infant. It is difficult to overstate the disruption and stress this caused our family. Our home was left in various states of disrepair for extended periods, and there were times when mold was exposed while work was allowed to linger unfinished for weeks. There was seemingly no urgency, no consistent oversight and no concern for the fact that a family with a baby was living in the middle of an active and potentially unhealthy construction environment. What was most disturbing was the complete absence of ownership. Mistakes were deflected. Delays were normalized. Damage caused during their work became someone else's responsibility.
Between the approximately $20,000 roof replacement, the approximately $7,000 couch destroyed after their temporary roof repair leaked, the approximately $11,000 wallpaper damaged by their third-party hire and the damage to our hardwood floors during mold remediation, the financial consequences of hiring this company were devastating.
Based on our experience, I genuinely cannot recommend this company. It's shocking and confusing to me that they have any positive reviews on here. From the initial diagnosis to the temporary repairs, scheduling, communication, supervision, property damage, inappropriate sales pitch and refusal to accept accountability, the entire process was chaotic, careless and extraordinarily expensive.
We deeply, deeply, regret hiring this company. I would strongly urge anyone considering them to obtain multiple independent professional opinions before approving major work, insist that every recommendation and subcontractor arrangement be documented in writing, photograph every area of the home before work begins and avoid making final payment until every aspect of the project has been independently inspected.
