This nail salon is near my Pilate studio s so me and my friend decided to get a pedicure before class. We love our Pilates teacher, so we also got her a $40 gift certificate. We called earlier in the day and made an appointment for 2 gel pedicures. It's a really small salon so appointments are probably recommended, but it wasn't busy when we went in- so walk-ins are probably OK too. There is a free parking lot out front, making it super convenient! The pedicure was actually pretty quick, I think we were in and out in around 30 minutes. There were just a few things that made it more of an OK experience for me. First thing is that they have a sign to "request to see the price menu". It's not like the pedicure was extremely expensive or anything, I just think that folks should be able to know beforehand what the service they are receiving costs. Been coming here monthly for almost two years for mani and pedi. Last three months service has suffered greatly and they are now hard selling upgrades which tells me they are hurting for business. Will be looking for a new shop as this place just has hit bottom with me. Manicure today was horrible. Had to tell her to redo it because my nails weren't cut and filed evenly. The constant availability should've been the first red flag. They are absolutely in violation of health standards and regulations. Their overall level of service is mediocre, but the products they use are awful. They used something on my nails that made them shrivel up, didn't even know nails could do that. Then the ladies tried to say my nails were like that when I came in, like seriously?! The nail and gel polishes are all very old or of poor quality. It went downhill when my services was almost done and that's where my mind was blown. Lady who did my mani or gel extensions turned my massage chair off and said "sorry sorry only 5 minute massage." Came here for the first time and I will not be back. The callus remover they were using looked dirty. I asked them if they had a new one and they said they put them in a sanitizer to clean them but it literally had dirt on the sides. They ended up using one that looked a bit more clean but scrubbed the bottoms of my feet for maybe 5 seconds. I asked if they can do it a little longer on a certain area and one of the ladies said it would be $10 more. They were painting my toe nails with gel polish, and I asked if I could use the restroom. One of the ladies said I had to wait until she was done. I said I couldn't wait because I really had to go and it seemed as if they got upset the other lady even grunted. My adult pedicure was great and very relaxing, but what really impressed me was how sweet all of the ladies were with my daughter (6). This has become my go-to nail salon on the island. The ladies don't speak English well but are so accommodating, kind and courteous. I take my niece here and they are great with kids, taking time painting flowers on their nails. They really care, and want to make sure all their customers are happy. I get my nails done every 6-weeks to 8 weeks. So having a trustworthy salon is important. Highly recommend. I do advise to call ahead and reserve a spot because once I didn't and they were packed! After having repeatedly bad experiences elsewhere, I got a tip from a friend to try out this salon. It doesn't look like much from the outside, or from the inside for that matter, but the experience is worth it. I think the thing that I like best about this salon is that it is super small and quiet. I never have to play go-don't go with 11 other people being shuffled between manis and pedis, and the place is always ready to go. Selection of colour is good, and I've never had a bad pedicure here. The chairs are old and some of them don't work, and the place is a little run down, but they do a great job on my nails, and it lasts for weeks. They were very sweet and maybe do great at pedicures and manicures, but had no clue about doing tips and longer nails - which would have been fine if they had told me, unfortunately they did not tell me. I decided to get acrylics and had my nails butchered by another local shop. I went the next day to Lanikai Nails to have them taken off. They were really accommodating and kind and replaced my acrylics with beautiful gel nails, and the price was better than the last place I went. The shop was clean, the autoclave was on, and they were professional. I've tried a lot of shops in Kailua and I've had everything from someone eating a corn on the cob as they were getting ready to give me a pedicure to someone cutting me and telling me it's my fault "my skin was too thick" Ugh. Both were bad! The girl asked me if I wanted a deluxe pedicure and I said no, just regular. Then she asked if I wanted callus removal. I said yes. When I went to pay, I thought the bill was high. I asked if I was charged a deluxe pedi and she said yes. I questioned that and said I didn't want a deluxe but she gave me a deluxe anyways. When I was done I did the nail test to see if my nails were dry to my satisfaction. I took my nail and lightly pressed it into the thickest coat of the polish, and if there was a dent then it is not dry. She saw me do this, and said "oh maybe a little longer". I got an amazing manicure and pedicure here today. Bonus was they did them at the same time. I just love when that happens. I called this am to see if they had an opening and luckily they did. I wanted to try them again due to their yelp reviews. I really enjoyed both services. The leg massage was just the perfect amount of pressure. Sometimes I get a pedicure and the pressure is so hard I feel like I'm going to get busied. They shaped my nails perfectly and had a great amount of regular and gel polish colors. The worst nail salon I've ever experienced. I went in with a picture and asked if they were able to do a simple tip ombre with a few colors. The lady said yes. They were blobby, left unshaped and had a black hair stuck in them. I asked her if she could clean up the line work and remove the hair. She said "no no no!" My BFF and I were looking to get mani/pedi's and got a hot tip from one of her students. So, we walked in to the quaint saloon and hoped that her student's hot tip would pan out. This by far is one of the best nail salons I have EVER been too. It was the outstanding work that the technician did that has made me a customer for life. There were two technicians there that day, I wish I had the name of the woman that helped me. SHE IS SUCH A CHARACTER. She kept saying that she is the best or that she is fast but good. I know that she is 61 years old and came out of retirement to help here. I also know that she is a bit of a party animal, LOL but that is besides the point. First up I have to confess, I have the kind of feet that people run from. I always feel obligated to leave a large tip after being serviced because my feet are gnarly. The kind of gnarly where you pull the sheets over your feet and you can feel them snag, or you worry that you will start a small fire. So, imagine my glee when the technician not only took up the challenge but made my little toesies feel girlie. The tech is a little chatty. She likes to laugh and let's you know what she will be doing to your nails so there is no surprise. Even though she was going to paint my toes peacock blue again, she still took the time to remove all of the polish and rebuff the nails until they were gleaming white. I started before my BFF did. She was just getting a manicure. We finished within 5 min's of each other, and I had gotten a mani/pedi. I HIGHLY recommend this place. All of the technicians are friendly and great at what they do. Called ahead and based on reviews asked for an appt with Kim or Lily. Lily must have been the "crazy one" - Kim said she had retired and gone back to Vietnam. For those looking for it - it's in a tiny plaza immediately between the street corner (with a dry cleaners) and the 76 gas station. It is very hard to see so if you are coming from Oneawa (behind you) you are going to have to turn left as soon as you cross the intersection. Kim herself seems to be the owner of this outfit, and she's super sweet and kind and the manicure, pedicure, and massage were good. For my pedicure she did a good job on taking care of my calluses, too. I had a 1 pm appointment mani/pedi with rhinestone stripe, arrived, to find Kim and another technician both working on a client. So I did sit around until about 1:15 before I got started. I got out sometime after 2:45. Price was $47. Given how small it is, and the size of staff, I recommend making an appointment. A couple people walked in and had to wait a while or were turned away b/c there just weren't enough folks to work on them. Small shop! The place is very small, but the chairs are nice quality spa chairs. I did notice the sterilizer and Kim was using it to collect her metal tools for different customers. The paint job, not the greatest, everybody has their techniques. A friend told me the schools that train nail technicians teach that you should be able to paint a nail in 2 swipes. At home, I use 3 strokes, on a brush that's as thin as possible while getting full coverage. Not too thick, so you don't get bubbles, and so it drys fast. Kim used at least 4, sometimes 6 or even 7 strokes per nail, and would swipe horizontally across the tip. I'd do that with a base coat, but not with color a top coat, I understand it can preserve against chipping, but too many strokes on a nail, especially given the lighter color I chose, left me with visible paint patterns and an uneven coating. To be clear, the paint job itself WASN'T bad, it was just "alright." But again, the nail cleanup, the actual manicure/pedicure work itself was great. So my immediate thought was, I'll get home and give it a couple days then do the paint myself again. The issue with my nail coverage may also be what someone else mentioned, that maybe they water down their polishes. It looked thick enough to me, I think the issue was just application. A/C unit is impressively large and strong, so it was nice and cool. I did feel the floor could have been swept up (you could see nail clippings) and things needed serious dusting, but the chairs and tools were clean so I didn't feel that things were unsanitary. It's a little local shop so, it's not high end, but it's still a great place to go to for something not too expensive with friendly customer service. Kim and her technician were super nice to the lady before me, to another longtime customer who came in to get his nails clipped who Kim remarked she hadn't seen in a long time, and two older ladies who came in at the end of my service. You can tell she really cares about her customers and she's a positive type of shop versus some of the other kinds I've been to where the ladies treat you like a body that spits out money and you're not a person to show respect to but a pair of hands or feet then just need to get through for their tip. read more

Very nice staff. One lady was working when we arrived and gave my mom the best pedicure. The massage was soooo relaxing for her and the place is very quiet with air conditioning. Good amount of magazines too! It's a smaller place with 3 massage chairs and 2 manicure stations, but I would totally come back for the quality service (and just call ahead first or plan on waiting a bit), relaxing environment, and attention to massage. read more

The service here is great. The staff is friendly and did a great job on my mani/pedi. I didn't have to wait; might be because it was on a week day. A man did my pedi, a woman did my mani. Both of them were very meticulous in their work and made sure to make everything perfect. The thing that I didn't like about this place is the facility. The shop is very tiny. The shop is very tiny. Seriously, very tiny. So I can see how this is a problem when there are more than 3 customers at one time. The whole time I was in there, I felt claustrophobic and I could never really relax. I felt cramped the whole time. Another thing is they didn't have a big selection of nail colors. A lot of the bottles were almost empty and some of them looked old and discolored. Nails will chip after a couple days . My girlfriend spent over 100$ for a mani pedi. The pedi was ok the mani was awful. She was so upset. Make sure you ask about prices before hand. She was charged I believe 115, plus tip she spent 150 on mani pedi. Not worth it since she had to go get it fixed days later read more
