I've been getting pedicures (and the occasional manicure) here for about a year. After today's experience, I will not be going back and will be taking my business elsewhere. The woman I had today was extremely pushy from the beginning, and spent the entire time trying to get me to spend more money on the services. When I asked for regular polish for my pedicure, she told me I should get gel. I politely declined. After I declined, she circled back and said "Okay. So I do gel." I again, said I did not want gel. Finally, when I went to tell her the color I wanted for my toenails (from the booklets I was given), she tells me the color I picked is gel only. Usually, when I pick a color, the employee will confirm whether I want the color in gel or regular, as the colors shown usually have both options. This time, I was told I couldn't do the color at all unless I did gel. Rather than argue, I just picked another color, but it was clear this was a third attempt to get me to do gel on my toes. For the manicure, I originally said I wanted gel. I was given the usual books of gel & polish to flip through, but the woman today also brought me several others. She told me they were "new" and "very nice". But still said they were gel polish options. I actually decided to try one of those options. Now, I figured it would probably be a little pricier (even though the woman never mentioned that), just because the woman was pushing them. Also, they had an ombré look to a lot of them, so they didn't actually look like traditional gels. From that point on, I was AGAIN, pressured into spending more money. I had to tell the woman TWICE that I did not want her to put acrylic nails on me. After that, she mentioned something about "doing the gel". And made a comment of "it doesn't have chemicals, it's nicer." But didn't specify further. I assumed she was just talking about the gel I had picked, since it was clearly a different gel than the usual ones I've picked in the past. After seeing the final price, it's clear she probably added on another cost for whatever gel option she did mid manicure. Then, she asked me if I wanted her to do ombré. Now, this was confusing to me because the color I picked had an ombré look to it in the sample. I wasn't sure what she meant, and tried to clarify by asking a follow up question of "Is the color I picked ombré? Or is this additional?" She responded with "I show you." So I figured she would do a nail, show me, and ask if I wanted that. NOPE. She just went ahead and did "ombré", for the very SHEER color I picked. The end result of which, looks like I have very faint champagne sparkles on the top half of my nails, fading down to what looks like natural nail color for the second half of my nails. Overall, it looks like a child did my nails, lost interest halfway through, and didn't finish. She never asked me if I liked what she was doing throughout this process, and I actually wasn't even aware she was done with the nails until she told me to wash my hands. After washing my hands, I came back, and she was up at the register for me to check out. She never touched my cuticles, except for clipping off any odd cuticles interfering with the gel. Barely did any of the usual "manicure" things. She basically just wanted me to spend as much money as possible, while also never discussing with me all these up-charges she was throwing in there throughout (found out after, ombré is $10 extra). The final kicker is when I went to check out. She pulled up my total, and at first, it said a total of $50 for the deluxe pedicure. Which, was perfectly normal. But then she's trying to put in the manicure, as I'm standing there looking at the charges on the screen. She then tells me to go and sit and wait in one of the chairs near the register. So I said okay, thinking the machine was frozen for a second or something. She calls me back after a couple of minutes, and here's what I REALLY didn't like most about everything. I go back to the counter to pay, and the screen with the itemized charges is gone, it just shows a lump total of $134!! She pulled it up to the final payment screen, skipping the itemized page altogether. Now, I know my pedicure was $50. So my "gel manicure" that I figured might be a LITTLE more expensive than normal... wound up costing $84!! When I went to pay via credit card, I literally held my card up to the machine to scan, she reached OVER the counter, grabbed my card, and shoved it in the machine. Which was just extremely inappropriate and unnecessary. It was literally like she wanted to show the total as quickly as possible so I didn't ask any questions, and she just wanted me to pay ASAP. The whole thing was an example of this business, and specifically this woman, trying to take advantage and just up-charge for anything and everything without being clear and upfront about the additional charges. We called to have 3 of us come in to do our nails. They told us to come at 2pm with reservation and they would be able to do us all then, so we made reservations and showed up then. They started working on 2 of us, but the 3rd person with us was told to sit in the chair and someone would help her soon. It wasn't until 40 minutes in that anyone even acknowledged that she was waiting and offered to help. At that point, 2 of us were already almost finished. Our 3rd person decided not to start that late because we had plans afterwards. Nobody from the salon even apologized or tried to remedy the situation. Self care in Kaneohe, Oahu, Hawaii... I guess I should pay attention to myself more. I kinda knew that I had a split in my toe nail, but another salon told me that nothing could be done about it. In the past, a different salon had applied Crazy Glue to the nail to repair it. I didn't say anything when I went to Eagle Nails Salon. I had seen this new shop by Times Supermarket and the Fire Station, but hadn't visited them - even though they had opened in December 2021. At first, I was the only customer on a Sunday afternoon. I called out, "Hello" to the two workers in the back. The lady approached me and asked me to sign-in on the machine. I told her that I did - and asked her how do I select a color? She brought me the cards of colors - wow - there's a lot of choices. She was quiet while I played games on my phone. She asked how I cracked the toe nail horizontally on my right foot... Besides having the vertically split nail on the left foot. Haha! She suggested that I cut the nails down when wearing shoes. She applied Crazy Glue to both nails, massaged my legs, cut off dead cuticles, and dug out my hangnails. Ouch! She did a very thorough job! I tried this salon for the first time today and it was 10/10 perfect. Misa did my pedicure and she was absolutely meticulous and gave a wonderful massage. Helen did my nails and she gave me a beautiful natural manicure with a great massage as well. Everything was clean and bright. They use a new liner for each pedicure. Hellen made it 4 stars because the color was coming through as transparent but the swatch looked exactly like my toes. She took her time to make that there were no clear peek-a-boos on my toes. The 5th star is for not making me feel bad that I declined the $20 additional for gel polish on my toes. Came in twice to get acrylic done. Both times it was crooked, uneven & I had extra acrylic on my skin and UNDER my nails. I was charged extra $$ because I like my nails short due to my job & the nail tech didn't want to file short nails. She said it was "too hard to file it short, long nails are better". I am extremely disappointed because the location is convenient for me but it is extremely overpriced for the service received. The manicure wasn't included either. I'm so happy I made the choice to go to Eagle Nails Salon and that they accept Walk-Ins. A friend of mine actually recommended it. I was even more stoked being taken care of by Kim! She is caring and kind in her approach and service. She made recommendations for me which I either said "yes" or "no" and she gladly accepted whatever my response was. No heavy sales! So I been coming here for quite some time because I enjoyed their services... Always good at getting ingrown nails, painting, and massage... But lately it's been subpar. The massages with the pedicures have been really crappy, barely any callus removal and did not cut the nails as short. The paint has been good but it does chip and basically they push for gel nail because they know you have to come back but honestly I never use gel nail cause it messes up your nail bed. They even offered it to my 8 year old kid, like noo she's a baby. I've gone to Frankie and Na for my nail services and both were very meticulous, gentle and attention to detail. They have MANY color options to choose from, it's amazing and quite frankly, very refreshing because I've gone to other salons that are very limited on color options. I always get gel polish because it lasts longer, withstands many instances (the unexpected ones especially) & has a nice, thick and shiny finish (I'm sure matte is available here). My pedicure lasts for months without chipping. I've had gel manicures here, however, it hasn't lasted me longer than a week until it started to chip :/ Although this isn't my go-to nail salon because I live in town, I will pay this salon a visit with my best friend as we both enjoy their services. I walked in at 5:45 pm on a Tuesday for a gel pedicure and was seated at 6. I was helped by Tram who didn't interact with me and mostly spoke Vietnamese with her coworkers but did a really great job with my nails. I got a deluxe pedicure which came with callus removal, a massage and paraffin wax. My nails turned out really nice and I had a really nice and relaxing experience. We made pedicure appointment. The nail techs are some of the most rude we have ever experienced. I think speaking in your mother tongue is valuable and to be encouraged, but when they look at you, talk to each other, then cackle, you don't need to speak the language to know what's up. That lasted about half way through the appointment. Maybe it stopped because we were saying to each other how weird and rude that behavior was. Their English was very good so if they chose to, they could have engaged us. In other salons, they do. My tech did not look at me once during the appointment, or ask me if everything was ok. Only 2 words.. "your color". There were other rude exchanges as well, which surprised us since we were about to give them over 200$ worth of business and their salon was only half full. The leg massage was weak, no foot massage, even though my daughter received one. Services are expensive so people should receive the best the tech can do. I would not recommend Eagle Nails Kaneohe. However, the salon was well designed, cute and tidy. The owner was active in keeping it clean as this was the end of the evening, almost closing. My friend and I went to get gel manicures and the service was disappointing. There were tiny deep slices on the sides of her fingernails from aggressively filing and filing the skin on literally all fingers. My friend's request was also ignored TWO times so she just stopped asking. But the biggest concern are the slices on her fingers. There are so many nail salons that half-effort their services and pay less attention to detail, especially when there are a lot of customers. But I didn't feel any of that at this salon. I came in to get my nail and toes done and honestly their service was fine and staff kinda friendly so I didn't really pay attention to what they do ( I'm not a picky person and I do appreciate everyone 's job as well) .
