This restaurant is a beautiful example of how a restaurant can keep it's age-old elegance and still be current with the times! We ordered the Creole Shrimp and the Centralia House Shrimp. Let me tell you - the moment I saw "BBQ Sauce" and "Shrimp" paired together, I reacted with a big, fat NOPE! But when it arrived, I realized this BBQ Sauce was unlike any other I'd had before. The Centralia House Shrimp was AMAZING!!! Succulent shrimp doused in a savory sauce with a hint of citrus. This dish was truly delicious. The Creole Shrimp was good, however, not as good as the Centralia House Shrimp. The BEST part of the dining experience - the warm loaf of bread served with butter as an accompaniment to the food. So much so, that despite being a bashful dame, I went out of my way to shamelessly order another loaf! The service is friendly, the restaurant is clean, the food is delicious, the town is a joy. Definitely visit this hidden gem!!!

What a cool place!! Went here with a big group of people to celebrate my bday...rode the Amtrak up/back from Carbondale, it was a perfect and fun night out! The atmosphere is awesome, staff were welcoming and so friendly, and the food was so delicious. They even brought me a bday dessert!

Came in for lunch today. No one was really there. The food was decent - had a black and blue burger and a cup of their 2 bean soup. Historical building. Nice staff.

The Ribeye, oh my. So tender. So flavorful. Great house made dressings. Fresh baked sourdough bread. Unmatched in Centralia.

The Creole Shrimp was good, however, not as good as the Centralia House Shrimp.

I've passed this place up on occasion driving to mt Vernon. Always wanted to check it out. Glad we did. They have a gravel based parking. They have outside seating under a roof. Once you walk inside it's like you're in a wooded swamp like area. It was packed a bit so couldn't take many inside photos. The food is Cajun based. so you want some gator or catfish bites. They are one of the places to go to in Clinton County. I tried their grilled chicken sandwich with cheese. A side of Cajun fries( not Spicy- husband thought they may season with ole bay) we shared fried pickles and fried okra- we were almost full off of those alone. Large portions for appetizers! even their ranch dressing they brought out to dip the pickles in seems homemade. staff was amazing and attentive. We sat at the bar to eat and all of the ladies were wonderful! they also have a bar outside. Which was perfect as we were going to watch the bands. Overall we had a great time there!

I've worked in food for 40 years and I know what FRESH slaw looks like. The server said it was made fresh that day like every Friday. I told her I didn't believe that and to take it away as we were not eating that. Last week everything was excellent. Big difference from one week to the next. I don't think we'll be going there next Friday. Consistency is a must when you're serving food. She did not offer a replacement of any kind and our bill DID NOT reflect a discount either, disappointing. The customer is always right, remember that!

Never would have thought our…read morefirst night's meal would have been some Cajun Creole food in St Louis style BBQ Country We were so pleased with our decision as their food rivaled anything in New Orleans. As an avid oyster lover, never would have guessed we would have the option for charred grilled oysters in Missouri. We demolished those in minutes and quickly moved on to our entree I ordered the jambalaya and the size the spices we're so flavorful. The shrimp was on point and the chicken almost tasted like seafood plus the andouille sausage was spicy without being too hot. They nailed the texture and firmness of the rice and highly recommend My wife went with the sampler platter and it was hard to tell between the etouffee, red beans and rice, gumbo, or jambalaya which was the best. I know tough decision to choose from but that was a slam dunk that we highly recommend! Walking throughout the establishment you could tell it totally had that Voodoo deep New Orleans vibe going on that makes you feel like it belongs in the French Quarters If you're ever in the Lou and in the mood for some good Creole Cajun food, this is the spot!

There are multiple options as far as seating. Each one is different from the next. The oysters are a must, take your pick how you want to try them but I would recommend the Oysters NOLA and the Voodoo Po'boy. The Sazerac is on the sweet side but don't let that dissuade you. Worth it. 100%.

The seasoning wasn't there, alot of breading and not enough meat on the bones. - Mac n Cheese: so, I did eat it, but I wish they'd use like a sharp cheddar cheese. And I think it shouldn't be liquidity. More firm. - Candied Yams: the texture was mushy. It should have been more solid. It would be great for people with no teeth, but it should be more solid to bite into. - Cornbread: it was rather dry. I shouldn't be coughing when eating it. - Apple cobbler: it was soooo gelatinous. I'm not sure if it was homemade. This really saddened me. I may comeback to try their Catfish, Meatloaf, Mashed potatoes and green beans because it's 6 minutes from my house and I love southern food. Inside of the restaurant was not vibrant. I think it may need a upgrade. The Owner's were so sweet. Of course they have great intentions to serve good food, but I think they should have a taste testing to get others take on thier food.

But then I saw the description of 3 pieces. I ordered it and the person behind the counter asked what I wanted for my sides. I asked for macaroni & cheese and braised cabbage. It's at THIS point that she informed me that they were out of braised cabbage. WHYYYY not tell me up front??? When I got my food, it was boxed up to go. I was planning on eating there, so opened it up. Found only 2 pieces of fish. I said something about it, and they cooked up another piece and brought it out. I won't be back. They charge $19 for a fish plate with 2 sides and a piece of cornbread and then try to stiff you for one of the pieces of fish?
