The pork buns alone are worth the order. Got this delivered via Uber Eats and honestly wasn't sure what to expect, but I'm glad I took the chance. Ordered the beef combo knife slice noodle soup, pork soup dumplings, pork wontons with homemade spicy sauce, and the pan fried pork buns. The pan fried pork buns were the clear MVP here, perfectly crispy on the outside with that satisfying crunch, but soft and fluffy inside. Super filling too, which is always a win in my book. Luckily I had read a lot about this place prior to being there because no one greeted us or told us how the place worked. Again we were the only table in the place dining in that was not offered the water carafe, it was like we were invisible. I was looking for a new place to eat and then walk around and although I was familiar with the Rio area I wasn't aware of this noodle spot. First, its a order at the table/kiosk place which is fine. The phone app is a little buggy though, so order at the kiosk. We had the regular noodles with brisket, and pork and chive fried dumplings. Drinks are bottled water/soda. The noodles and the dumplings were great. But otherwise its pretty meh. It had a weird odor, not really bad just a bit off. Like cleaning products mixed with wheat. The chairs make a terrible scraping sounds as you move them, if you have audio sensory issues this is a problem. The place is oddly quiet. Like, a tomb. The staff doesn't speak. The music is so low you can hear a pin drop. It felt like I had to whisper. Very mid. Even if I didn't know what Lanzhou la mian was, the taste was forgettable, and I will not be eating here again. I walked in seeing the iconic metal noodle-making table and looked forward to a taste of my childhood. To my immense disappointment, I heard no thwacks from the table over my visit, and the noodles did not taste like lanzhou la mian or even like your standard niu rou mian. On top of that, i ordered the thick and spicy beef brisket noodles and got whatever the picture below was. Not brisket, and them noods were what I would have thought the standard thickness would have been. It tasted exactly how it looks: boring, bland, and without any spicy kick. I poured a little bit of vinegar into the broth and somehow it made it taste like a lukewarm liang mian. The popcorn chicken wasn't bad - tasted like Taiwanese popcorn chicken and was tender. The food was so good I forgot that camera eats first. They came out with our food super quickly and nice and hot. Me and my friend both dug into our dishes and we loved how tasty it was. They have soy sauce, vinegar, and chili oil on the table to add separately. I loved adding the chili oil which added that extra kick I enjoy and to my liking. Luckily they had chili oil at the table which helped to add a nice spice. The oxtail as well was soooo good and a pretty good amount of oxtail for the price. The only reason it didn't get 5 stars from me is the service. I felt the staff was pretty standoffish and it wasn't until we moved to a closer spot within view that they came and served us water. Just be mindful of where you sit because the chairs that are closest to the door in the back are out of view and can cause the staff not to be able to see you. After my brother raved about this place, I've been back several times already in 2024. The surprise dish for me is their xiao long bao (pork soup dumplings). It's priced at $9.99, and you get six very good soup dumplings - I think they are the best in the area, better than Bob's or Shanghai Taste. The skin is so thin and is filled with lots of soup. Their beef noodle is soup is pretty good though I wish the broth is served a little warmer. I like the knife cut noodles the best. They give you tons of meat and veggies in the soup. One soup is enough to feed two adults. My daughter enjoyed the roast pork bun, almost as good as China Garden one. Order from an electronic kiosk and your food gets delivered to you Nice wooden tables, water is served in cute golden colored metal tumblers and a glass carafe. The tumbler feels very Asian! Portion sizes are just right, you won't have any left overs. We tried the Stir-fried noodles, one with Shrimp and other with vegetables and tofu. Our third order was peppercorn soup dumplings. That's a masterpiece. The dumplings are filled with soup and arrive very hot. You get a ladle for the soup as it will spill when you eat the dumplings. I tend to prefer thicker noodles, so was pleased with the ability to choose thickness. You order from either a QR code or a machine which is pretty easy and the app is very easy to use.
