However, a lot of the meat in my soup was more so cartilage/tendon (chewier than regular meat) which isn't really something I mind but worth mentioning. Finally got a chance to dine here before it got crowded. Overall, it's a good place for some good old carbs' it's worth the calamities imo. You either order from the kiosk or at the counter. It's a small space with I would say 10 tables or so so get their early! We got the potato tower (has like a dorito or cheese puff type seasoning), which was a hit. The shrimp dumplings is as good as other dim sum places, but their pork soup dumplings is almost as good as Din Tae Fung. I have never been to a place like this. Was with friends climbing at the nearby rock climbing gym and we decided to go for noodles after, based on a recommendation (OK, a demand) of one of my friends. She had to explain to me (I'm just very American) what the various options meant (e.g. knife-sliced vs. hand-pulled noodles). I got a simple chicken-and-something noodle bowl. And it was delicious!! Came out in just a few minutes, and it was as fresh as can be. While eating and chatting I watched one of the workers behind the counter pulling the noodle dough and kneading it. That was cool and added to the 'ambiance'. Small place but pretty busy. This is right in the heart of the Rio mall (?? is it a mall ??), so a lot of walking traffic and looked like a lot of passers-by coming in at the spur of the moment. But seemed to be pretty popular as well. When I'm next in the Rio area I'll definitely be heading back here. First time ever having hand pulled noodles and it was fun to see someone working with hand pulling noodles in the window. The gentleman behind the counter was very patient and helped us decide what to get since there wasn't a line behind us. So there's hand pull and knife sliced noodles. The hand pull are thin like a spaghetti/lo mein noodle. The knife sliced are thicker noodles with uneven cuts and fairly chewy. Also your options are soup or stir-fried with your choice of protein or vegetable. All three of us opted for the stir-fried version which came with tons of the protein you selected and lots of veggies. I got the beef ($12.50) which was a little chewy but a generous portion. The seafood ($12.50) and the shrimp ($12.50) were also good sized portions. The sauce is thick and mild/bland, we chose to use a lot of their hot sauce. I also ordered the chive pork dumpling which you can get steamed or pan-fried. We went with the pan-fried which had a nice crispy skin and used their dumpling sauce with their hot sauce - it was a delicious combo! Delicious, filling noodles! This is the place to go to kick a carb craving. I ordered the handpooled noodles with brisket and it was heavenly. Chewy, a little fatty, and oh so flavorful. My dish was prepared to order and it was ready surprisingly quick. The price was also really good for the amount of food that I received. So the food was good but not excellent. I did a carryout and got the beef hand pulled hot soup noodle with tendon. Overall, it was delicious but the reason why the minus one star because they skimp on the noodle and meat. For the price of $14 that's pretty hefty. I tried their buffalo wings and they were okay. Nothing to sing about. I also got their stir fried roast pork noodle and even I think it's ok. Let the Cantonese chef do it because they make stir fry better. They also put too many onions in my stir fry. I'll give this place another try and will try to go inside to eat instead but overall their noodle soup is where they shine at. I will try their dumplings. This is mostly Northern Chinese style food. I'm used to eating Southern Chinese style food such as Cantonese food which to me has more flavor. Still, I say skip the stir fry and stick with the noodle soup. Again, for $14 for small noodles and less meat, kinda like reminds me of food trucks. Kinda over priced for noodle soup bowl. I was hungry and didn't know what to eat because this other restuarant I was trying to go to was closed and decided last minute to come here. But I'm super glad I was able to come here instead! This is my second time coming here and I don't know why I don't remember too much from the first experience because the beef noodle soup was BOMB. I didn't expect too much but the broth was so rich and had a deep taste. The beef was also very well marinated because it was the perfect amount of saltiness. My friend and I were impressed. We also ordered the chive pork dumplings and they were so juicy that when I took a first bite, the juice squirted out lol. I was surprised by the causal atmosphere of the shop. It felt like a food court as I ordered from the self check out machine. I liked that it had pictures and was pretty easy to order . I was in the area and decided to give this a try since I've been craving some Asian food. It was around 11:45am but there weren't many people inside. Just a couple of people eating in and a couple of people waiting for to-go orders. I could see the kitchen on the right with the cooks and the people making noodles, which was interesting. I was greeted immediately by a friendly woman who took my order. I decided to try the pork and chive pan fried dumplings and the stir fried chicken hand pulled noodle. It was close to $22. I got back to my hotel room and took the pictures attached to this review. The food was still mostly warm. The dumplings were a bit soggy since they'd been sitting on the drive back to my hotel, but they were still tasty. I took a bite first without the sauce and thought it was okay, but the sauce, which is tangy and slightly sweet, put them over the top. I could drink that sauce. So good. I tried the noodles and they taste almost exactly like the chicken lo mein that you can get in any hole-in-the-wall Chinese restaurant. There's nothing spectacular about them. Maybe the knife cut noodles are better. All-in-all I think this was pretty pricey for the quality and amount of food. I would probably just go for the dumplings if I ever went back and skip the noodles which is sad considering that's supposed to be the highlight. read more

Came on a Sunday afternoon around 1pm and was pleasantly surprised there wasn't a huge wait. The seating area was fairly full, with a table or two empty as they turned over. I love that the kitchen is visible so you can see the noodles being pulled. There's a self serve water and condiments bar at the back of the seating area, with a tasty chili sauce- highly recommend! I ordered the roast duck noodle soup with knife sliced noodles, which is definitely the way to go if you're a fan of texture! The noodles were nice and chewy at the thickest point. The broth was very flavorful and savory with a pleasant five-spice flavor. The only downside was the duck- it was delicious as expected but I didn't get too many pieces in my bowl. Out of the ones I was given, only one piece had a substantial amount of meat and one piece was entirely bone. Both of my friends ordered the beef combo and their cuts of meat looked so good! I got duck knife sliced, my partner got ox tail hand pulled, and we both had some soup dumplings. The soup itself is not super strong. It's a light base with your meat of choice which does not bother me at all. If you want, there are sauces and spices on the side to cater the broth to your liking, but as is is also pretty good. The best is by far the noodles. I wish I got the hand pulled because it was so long and chewy~ The knife sliced wasn't bad but just wasn't as good you know? The soup dumplings were chill. We ordered three noodle soups (pork, duck, lamb) and a side of rice for carry out. The noodle soups were DELISH and very reminiscent of Lanzhou noodles we had in Guangzhou. There's someone at the front pulling fresh noodles and all the dishes we got were really good. My kids loved the scallion pancakes so we got multiple orders of those. The appetizers were delicious and would order again. The scallion pancake reminded us of a white pizza. The hand pulled beef soup was a large portion that I was able to eat the leftovers for lunch! My husband added some of the spicy sauce to his stir fry. It was a very large portion so he will be able to eat for lunch. Ordering online was easy and I was able to use Apple Pay. I had heard great things about Lanzhou Hand-Pulled Noodle so I was excited to finally give this place a try. Rio can be pretty hectic on the weekends, but on the weekdays, parking isn't as much of an issue. My husband and I parked behind the Corner Bakery and walked over, a less than 5 minute walk. It was packed inside when I arrived, which I took as a great sign. I was able to snag a table just as another party was finishing and packing up :) I ordered the Noodle Soup with Beef Brisket, Hand Pulled Noodles and a Stew Egg for an additional $1. The noodle broth is so flavorful, which was surprising since it was pretty clear in color. They do not skimp on meat here, it was all perfectly cooked. The noodles itself are fresh and plentiful. The Stew Egg wasn't terrible and it wasn't amazing, the dish would've been just as great without it. For $11 for my order, it was a steal, so delicious... and I was happily full afterwards :) Staff were friendly, they were quick to clean up tables so that new customers could quickly grab a seat. The food came out quickly, tasted hot and fresh. I also like that there were some sauces available for dipping (soy sauce, dumpling sauce, chili oil, etc.). The noodle is already delicious by itself, but if you like some spice like I do, I recommend adding some chili oil :) Overall, I really enjoyed this spot, I can see why it was so packed and why people have nothing but positive things to say about it. I love this place! They make the noodles right there. The chive pork dumplings are so good! We always get at least one order of steamed and one order of fried. My son loves them and we often order extra for him to pack for lunch. The shrimp fried rice is the best you can get in the area, $12 for a super large portion and tons of huge shrimp. The last time we ate here we got the plain noodle soup, which my son ate the whole bowl, shrimp fried rice, knife cut noodles with chicken, and 3 orders of dumplings. Everything was so good per usual. The place is very clean, the staff do a good job at cleaning up the tables. They have all the sauces and chili you want at the station with cups, bowls, plates and silverware. They also have covered outdoor seating, and will bring your food outside! Came around 2pm on a Saturday afternoon and the place wasn't too busy. We were able to find a seat easily. I opted for the seafood noodle soup with knife cut noodles. All the noodles are made fresh and you have the choice of thin, regular, hand pulled and knife cut. It's so satisfying to watch them make the noodles in front of you. The broth was light and savory, and the seafood was well cooked to match. Each bowl will run you about $12+ with tax. I give the noodle soup a solid 4 stars. The reason for 1 star deducted is due to service. My mom kindly asked a staff member to wipe off the table for us as it was quite dirty. The staff member said under his breath (and thought I didn't hear.. my mom didn't hear it), but he said " .. *SIGH* you guys couldn't pick another table?" It's a solid addition to the area and I'm glad to see it pop up. However, the staff really put a sour taste in my mouth and I don't think I'll be returning.
