Hey so first off, LA Kitchen is amazing and I love the food. I am a regular so I am pretty accustomed to the food, but recently the orange chicken has been chewy and not how it used to be. Also, on top of that, the lady with the accent needs to learn customer service and needs to learn to be respectful. Almost everytime I go, she has a bitchy attitude and it's off putting to me and other customers. She is in the front of LA Kitchen and if she doesn't fix her attitude then it will run people away. I am sorry if that sounds harsh but it needs to be said because no one should receive bitchy disrespect if they don't deserve it. Was here for a Yelp Elite event. Ambiance is average & service was good. The complimentary chicken, pork belly & sticky rice plus Thai iced tea sampler were all really good. Chicken was flavorful & moist. Pork belly was crispy tho a tad dry. Sticky rice was nice good! Also ordered their spring rolls, noodles & mango w/sticky rice too. Spring rolls were soft & really fresh. My preference is combo shrimp pork together but they keep theirs separate, which is fine, just different style. Peanut sauce is really great! Sometimes it's too thick & peanut buttery or too thin & vinegary at other places. Theirs is perfect! Mango was a tad under ripe. Maybe not quite in season? but again, sticky rice on point. First time dining in and it was an experience. There's a to go set up station that has paper plates, to go containers, disposable utensils, napkins, bags, and cups. Basically besides getting your orders delivered to you at the table you get up to get everything yourselves. We've had the fried pork belly before so it was great to get the same quality. Crispy pork skin on top and juicy port meat. Good ratio of fat to meat on the pork belly. The sticky rice was huge and one order was enough for the two of us. The papaya salad was okay. We ordered Thai style and spicy but it was not spicy at all. I also would had preferred the shred to be a little thicker for the crunch. But the papaya had a nice and refreshing taste. They also have a lot of repackaged food at the counter where you order/pay. Decided do get the Tapioca dumplings (sakoot yay sai). Perfect texture of chewiness for the outside. The pork filling inside was a bit on the sweeter side but the ratio of tapioca do filling was great. Had the chance to attend a Yelp Elite event at LA Kitchen and I totally understand now why people rave about the pork belly. It was super crispy without being hard, easy to bite into, and not overly fatty at all. Every sauce paired perfectly with the sticky rice, pork belly, and fried chicken. The chicken itself was incredibly moist and flavorful. I was secretly hoping for crispier skin, but honestly the flavor made up for it. Before leaving, I ordered the sausage with sticky rice plus both the shrimp and pork spring rolls to-go because I already knew I was going to want more later. The spring rolls were SO fresh and delicious. The shrimp wasn't overcooked, the pork was tender, and that peanut sauce absolutely tied everything together. The sausage was another standout, very flavorful, juicy, easy to chew, and perfect with the sticky rice. My only regret was forgetting to ask for chili oil before I left... thankfully I had some at home because it took everything to the next level. Big shoutout to Lana working the front counter, she was incredibly friendly and generous the entire time. I also got to meet La herself, and she was so warm and easy to talk to. They have a large seating area on the right side of the restaurant and condiments on every table. You can genuinely tell this place puts a lot of heart into the quality and flavors they serve. Very accommodating upon our entry. They checked us off on their list, got our food to us very quickly, and had my to go order for my kids waiting in the wings for our eventual exit. Unlike my friend, @Kubo, who said lots of parking. We arrived two hours after her, about 6:20pm, and the parking lot was near topped off, forcing some to have to park in unpaved areas. This was mostly due to the neighboring gym. (Sorry for those who have slammed vehicles without bags.) The crispy pork was delicious and crunchy. The chicken had a sweet to its savory. Very happy with the sauce choices as well. And sticky rice for the win. Two restrooms available. Half the tables were occupied by customers. One table by other Yelpers, who I wanted to take a picture with, but they were mid chomp. Disappeared while I was stuffing my face. LA Kitchen prides themselves on being a "home away from home", whether that be with their beautiful dining space, plenty of laughter, or great food. The employees are so nice and friendly and really make the space feel inviting. They also have something for everyone here, from Chinese food to Laotian food to Vietnamese and Thai food. If you want fresh vegetables, hot comforting soup, or saucy flavorful noodles, this is the place to be. (Not to mention the plethora of Asian dessert available for purchase!) I came in and was served many dishes to photograph, and each of them looked absolutely delicious. I got to try 2 things in particular: the pork belly and the orange chicken and chow mein. Let's talk about that pork belly--I just couldn't stop eating it! It was crispy on the outside skin and the perfect amount of fatty, juicy, and tender in the meat part. And if that alone was not already delicious, the SAUCE!! The sauce was acidic, fresh, and absolutely addicting. I was picking up pieces of pork belly just for the sauce! The orange chicken and chow mein was also a hit--the perfect size of chicken pieces, the right amount of sauce, and saucy, flavorful chow mein with fresh vegetables. I mean, really a treat. I also got to drink their Thai tea, and it was sweet and creamy and perfectly refreshing to finish off my big meal. The restaurant got really busy at lunch and it's so comforting to see so many people gather for great food and just relax and enjoy a meal. Not to mention, the dishes I photographed were graciously given away to customers--these owners and employees are just incredible. Parking was easy, plenty to go around. With kind service, fast-casual dine in and takeout, and the tasty memory of pork belly, I was super eager to return. Met up with my Yelp friend, I ordered Steam Rice, Pork Belly, Fried Chicken, Namkao (Red Curry Coconut Rice Salad), and a Thai Iced Coffee. The food here was great. Everything was authentic and delicious. I'm a big Pad Thai person, and I like that the chicken on the pad Thai wasn't regular stir fried chicken. It was grilled marinated chicken. We had a pretty big party and all the food came out quickly. Like every Thai restaurant, the inside is fairly small. Aside from the food and drinks to order, everything is self served, so there will not be a waiter or waitress coming to your table. You go and make your orders at the front register. They have paper plates, napkins, plastic forks and spoons, and to-go plates available. LA Kitchen is definitely a favorite in Fresno. Love their dessert and drink options. The staff were super friendly and accommodating with smiles. The inside was decorated with cultural items that looked really cool. Let me start by saying that the Tai tea was amazing! I'll be back to get more Thai tea for sure. The food was okay. The chicken had a really yummy unique flavor, but it was a bit dry. The sticky rice was nice and chewy. But the fried pork belly was really dry. It was hard to eat because the really dry parts were not even chewable. I was really excited this yelp event but the food wasn't what I expected I guess? The pork belly was really fatty :( and my rice tasted a bit old it was sorta hard not sure if it was suppose to be like that but the Thai tea was so refreshing it was my 1st time try that & this place very what seems family oriented! So we travel from Northeast area to see this restaurant. As we got there, we could clearly see where the restaurant was. Front area looks very appealing. Had menu on the window and specials on the side on a stand up sign.As we walked in the we were greeted by the nice cashier.She explained the menu and asked if we had any questions. I've been coming to LA Kitchen on Kings Canyon for years, but lately it's taken a serious turn for the worse--like a glow down nobody ordered. Service is rough. The staff seem young and untrained, and they drop food off and disappear like it's a magic trick. No time to ask for anything--still waiting on the veggies that come with pho. At this point, I think they're being shipped from overseas. Food quality? Down bad. Prices? Up like gas. I ordered the Thai boat special, and the "fried" pork belly was basically 99% fat, 1% disappointment--and not even fried. It tasted like pho that gave up on life. We also ordered pork belly with sticky rice... or at least we thought we did. After 40 minutes and reminding three different servers, it never came. I wasn't sure if I was dining or participating in a scavenger hunt. And the restroom? No hand soap, no paper towels--just vibes. Apparently cleanliness is optional now. This used to be my spot, but I won't be back anytime soon. Maybe I'll return when the service improves... or when my pork belly finishes its long journey back from wherever it went. read more

Went to the Yelp event at La Kitchen and right when we walked in the place was packed! Got served pork belly which was outstanding, it was so crispy and tender with every bite! Next was the chicken it was packed it with flavor but would have liked to see it more crispy. The sticky rice was that, sticky and good! We also ordered the spring rolls which were made to order and they were nice in size and really hot and yummy! We already wanted to try the chicken fried rice and oh my, the chicken in that rice was so crispy and flavorful! But my favorite was the chai tea!!! It was absolutely delicious!!! It was smooth and creamy and just so good!!! To finish it off, I can't say enough about the staff, they made sure every need was met and being that It was not of my culture I was not really sure about what sauces went with what And the staff was very helpful to tell us what went with what sauce and they were delicious and quite different they put the perfect touch to everything. The atmosphere was chill there were allot of people ordering take out. I liked that on every table they had plenty of different condiments and the self take out area was convenient. This is stop number two on my personal mission to find Thai food that takes me straight back to Thailand. I just got back from Thailand and now I get it when people say that trip will ruin you. Once you've had food over there it's really hard to find anything here that truly compares. Still, the craving is real, so the hunt continues. LA Kitchen kept popping up in reviews and the fact that they had mango sticky rice immediately caught my attention. That alone was enough to get me out the door. I ordered the pho with crispy pork belly. I know it's not Thai, but the Yelp photos sold me. The broth was the highlight. Super comforting, like something someone simmered all day just for you. The pork belly, though, didn't quite do it for me. Once it sat in the broth it got pretty tough to chew. The beef slices were also on the tougher side. The beef rib was the standout. Great flavor, just wish the texture matched. Still, overall a solid bowl. The mango sticky rice was really good. Flavor wise, it brought me back. It tasted very similar to what I had in Thailand, which made me happy. The only downside was the rice felt just a little undercooked. Not a deal breaker, but noticeable. I did takeout since it was getting late, but the restaurant itself looked clean and cozy from what I could see. I also ordered a rice dish with sausage, but I was already full from the soup so I can't fairly judge it yet. I'll update once I give that one a proper try. The hunt continues. read more

While doing some house shopping my whole family and I popped in to LA Kitchen. I'm always looking for local places to go and this looked fun! There's ample parking and while at first it looks like a take out only kinda place, once you go in there is a whole dining room to the right side! You order at the counter and then your food is brought to you. The accoutrements are at the counter including water cups and napkins and there are sauces and plastic cutlery at the table. We ordered beef larb, chicken larb, spring rolls, red curry, spicy chicken and orange chicken. I ate the beef larb and sampled the curry. The curry was eye crossingly good. I'm ordering that next time. The larb was a new experience and as I've never tried it before I'm going to say I enjoyed it but personally I'm unlikely to order it again. It's made authenticity so it has tripe in it. The papaya salad was spicy but I noticed that ours was quite chunky and not shredded. Overall it was a fun new experience and I'll be back! read more

Updated Review: -Tum Kueng Nai Bitter Soup always hits the spot. -Eggrolls weren't the best. They were served really overcooked on the outside and barely cooked on the inside. I wished it came with a spicy sauce and not just the sweet sauce. I ended up mixing Sriracha in with the sauce. -Kaopoon Special w/ Pork Belly was okay. -Pork Steamed Rolls were not the best. Very little fillings. Wouldn't recommend or buy them again. -Shrimp and Pork Spring Rolls are okay but not worth the price (2 for $10). I wouldn't buy them again. The peanut sauce is rather delicious though. -Fried Chicken Sticky Rice is always the best dish to get. Definitely worth the money. read more

We ate the food and kid you not...we came back for 2 more orders before heading back to the Bay Area. The service was quick and friendly and paired with the affordable price...I honestly would drive 2.5 hours to Fresno to just dine at LA Kitchen! Highly recommend if you are passing through Fresno. I always thought this place happened to open in an area with few Asian restaurants nearby and so they did a good job picking a location. But in terms of food I think it's just okay. A couple of years ago I ordered a kapoon from here and the next day when we warmed it up it was already bad, so I have stayed away from this place for a while. This past week I decided to give them another try and was a bit disappointed again. I ordered the steamed fish, chicken chow mein, and a side of veggie egg rolls. The egg rolls were lacking flavor a bit bland, and I didn't like the sweet and sour sauce that came with it (I was expecting fish sauce). Then as the steamed fish, I asked the woman what was in it and she said just fish. But when I got it, there were noodles, a load of lemon grass, and other things. So what I don't really like about this place is the lack of transparency in the menu about what is actually in the dishes. Would not be a good place for people with allergies. This place is fine and I'm glad they do well, but I don't think it's for me. read more

This was my first time trying Lao food and let me just say I went twice in the same week! I've only tried their chicken and sticky rice plate with the chili sauce so far and it is so good! The chicken is juicy and cooked to perfection. The portions are very big, you get 4 pieces of chicken with rice which is like 2 meals for me. They already have them made so you get it right away which is convenient if you're in a rush. You can either order to go or choose to eat inside. Either way this place is definitely a hidden gem and deserves the recognition. Definitely coming here again! read more

I was disappointed bc I had higher expectations after seeing Mrinthariss on fb do a review on their food. I wanted to try their bitter soup but they ran out for the day and their nam kao was prepacked so it was soggy and looked like it had been sitting there for a while. I thought they would make a fresh one from the kitchen since I was dining in but was handed the prepackaged ones that were on the counter. I ended up ordering the boat noodle which was ok. We came directly here for lunch today (TG Day) as we rolled into town. We got (my usual) Kaopoon, Fried Sausage w/Sticky Rice (hubby's), Fried Pork Belly w/Sticky Rice, and Papaya Salad (medium spicy). I also got two new items: Combo Fried Rice & Chicken Larb (medium spicy) to go. Everything was authentic & delicious as usual. The Combo Fried Rice and Chicken Larb were super delicious! The fried rice had a ton of meat and the Chicken Larb had the perfect balance of herbs and spices. The Chicken Larb and Papaya Salad were at the perfect medium spicy level. I think I found two new favorites: Chicken Larb & Combo Fried Rice. Hands down it is the best fried rice I've ever had! Both were scrumptious! The restaurant wasn't busy when we arrived around 12:30'ish. The tables were clean and the staff were friendly as always. It is an order at the counter and then they bring you the food kind of place. Ample parking space shared with other local businesses in the area. Mainly a take out establishment , no wait staff , order / pay for food at the counter . Should you want to dine in there are seatings available at first come first serve basis. Self service station for plates and utensils. I normally would not order curry at restaurants, since hubby wanted to try , we opted for #11 red chicken curry w/ steam rice. I am a changed person now , definitely will try this dish again when I am in town . Such a delicious meal... Crispy pork belly , oohhh crispy, tasty of fat dripping down my lips . Be sure to dip in the sauce provided makes for a delicious finger licking morsels. The only dish I didn't care for was the combination pad thai . Flavors were great , I just think next go around stick to one type of protein. I didn't expect much from the employees ,since it is a take out establishment. I was pleasantly surprised each and every one of the employees I encountered were friendly , they welcomed us in with pleasantry greetings . We were most impressed by this one particular young lady Lana .. she outshined the rest by her friendly demeanor & her knowledge of the menu . She recommended some of the dishes to try , the beef lab, lao sausage & sticky rice , papaya salad all were great choices. Quick reliable service, consistently great food! The Fried chicken and rice is unique and to die for!

I wanted to update and give LA Kitchen 5 stars. My SIL's father had passed away and I reached out to the owner to order a large order for his funeral. It was maybe 4-6 trays of kua mee. Not only were they able to accommodate this order for a reasonable price, they kindly delivered it to the funeral home. The funeral home was within a 1-2 mile radius. Although not far, it takes a load off for a grieving family. Also my recent orders were vegetarian friendly. They had tofu and made tofu pad thai and tofu curry. It was delicious! My interactions with the owner have always been above and beyond positive. My bf mentions stories he has heard of how the owner always tries to give back to the community.
