I really enjoy their food. My kids love their orange chicken and dumplings. We also had like a spicy chicken with chillies and it's spicy but delicious. We also go their combination chowmein. We were the only ones in the restaurant so service was excellent and everything was clean. I would definitely go back

I ordered a couple of lunch specials from Lao Sze Chuan for pick up: Chow Mein and Orange Chicken with Fried Rice. Both lunches came with an egg roll. Customer service was too quick-cashier took multiple orders at same time that I was concerned I would get the correct card back. The food was decent, not amazing. Orange chicken was just how I like it seasoned, however had too much breading and Chow Mein was not seasoned much. It was my first time there and I would consider trying it again in the restaurant, which had a pleasant atmosphere. Private Parking lot so plenty of spots for all. Cheers!~

Good Chinese restaurant hidden in a strip mall near Old orchard shopping center. Nice ambiance and decor. Service was really good, very nice and attentive. Prices were good for the portions. I got the mango smoothie with boba and it was thick yet smooth, sweet and fresh. We got the spring rolls for appetizers, the Mongolian beef with pea pods, string beans, house special fish fillet that had a little bit of spicy kick to it, and shrimp with mixed vegetables. Everything was very tasty! I guess this is a chain since I've been to the one in Naperville and that one was good too.

First time here! So glad to have authentic Szechuan food in town. I'd say the food is pretty decent but not as good as the same brand in downtown Chicago. The crispy duck was so dry! Service was not as attentive. It is a nice sit down place if you are craving for some spicy food. But if you have time, I recommend peppercorn kitchen in Evanston that is not too far away but much better food!

We went here for a quick dinner before a show across the street at Northlight. I've always been a fan of the original Lwo Sze Chuan so this was my first experience at a non Chinatown location. To me the food was very similar quality and packed the same heat like the signature dry chili chicken dish. The vegetable dish was massive as well! We went around 6 pm and there were plenty of tables and the food came out very fast. Ambiance is not a cool as Chinatown but it's the burbs so what do you expect.

Was looking for a nicer Chinese restaurant in the area to celebrate Mother's Day and Lao Sze Chuan fit the bill. It is a little bit more expensive than your typical Chinese sit down restaurant, but you're paying for ambiance and I feel like more options in terms of food (way more seafood options than usual). Service was good, I think they usually take reservations but not for Mother's Day which is understandable. It got pretty full around dinner time but I never saw people waiting at the front for very long. Food was good also, they started us off by placing a complimentary small plate of the spicy cabbage cold appetizer which was pretty good. We also had the salted egg shrimp, dry chili chicken, and Korean style seafood noodle soup. Everything was delicious, they asked about spice level for each of the spicy dishes and nothing was too spicy. Of note also they didn't have their full menu on mother's day due to the holiday and I think how long certain dishes take to prepare. Overall a great experience, a little fancier than the typical hole in the wall Chinese restaurants I tend to frequent with the parents

Good authentic Chinese food in the northern suburbs which isn't easy to find. Dining room is nicely decorated and clean. The service was above average compared to other Chinese restaurants. The appetizer, soup, and entrees were all prepared quickly and in the right order which isn't always the case with other restaurants.

    A partial dining room view.

Best hands down Asian cuisine in the north burbs. Large portions and a selection you cannot complete. Don't pass on this place.

It was raining and chilly outside so I decided on something soup based and got myself a bowl of rice noodle soup with fatty beef for my protein. For an appetizer, I got the pork belly with garlic sauce. I really liked this because the pork was thinly sliced and the sauce was rich and flavorful. The rice noodle soup was spicy and hot and the serving was plentiful, so I took the rest to go. As for the service, I was the only one in the restaurant and the server was standoffish and was on his phone most of the time. No big deal but I was really peeved when I said I wanted the rest of my noodle soup to go and he just gave a container and a plastic bag. I usually didn't mind packing my own to go but in this instance, the bowl was bulky and I wasn't sure how I was going to transfer the soup without spilling. I wish the server was a little more thoughtful and offered to help but nope, he just went back to his phone. It would be better to just order take out from this place because the dine in experience was underwhelming.

Ordering was a breeze and the guys were always open to a conversation or giving suggestions. The restaurant was clean and the meal was always tasty. Just a note but the further away you move from any major city the fewer and harder it is to find great Asian food. The suburb is lucky to have them. The pandemic brought new staffing. Some were pleasant with customers though one lady, a supervisor had the wrong ideas of what customer service and proper etiquette is. Just the basics of my final visit. I took my family for lunch. We ordered lunch specials and a couple extra must-try plates. Two specials hit the table and the third was left waiting for her meal. Unbeknownst to us in the moment, her food was handed to a single patron there for his lunch. The place was filling up with a lunch rush but not so many that had complicated orders. Many were ordering similar lunch specials. Kung pao lunch special was popular. When her order finally arrived the supervisor realized she had given the wrong plate to the customer sitting some tables behind us. Mind you ten minutes had already passed. She quickly went over to him and asked what he had ordered. She then took the plate he was eating from and handed him the fresh plate. He was still holding a half eaten egg roll in his hand. Then she brought the quarter eaten plate and placed it in front of my mother. Before she could leave I stopped her and asked her what she was doing. She simply stated that was her lunch order. I told her she handed my mother someone else's food that they were eating and I watched the whole thing. Why didn't you take that to the back and make a completely new plate of food?! I paid the bill and got the F**k out. That's gross. Also, you gave the other patron new food but cannot do the same for our table?? This place is dead to me. If she could do that, it beckons the question of what else is happening behind the scenes.
