Nice daily combo specials
Phil S.

10/30/21 - Asian Kitchen is a fairly new restaurant in my neighborhood. It's located in a strip mall on the east side of Cicero just north of Devon Ave. They have a nice selection of Chinese food & its conveniently located. That being said they are a mainly a carry out restaurant w/a couple of tiny tables. For us it's kind of conveniently located not too far from the house. We ordered 2 dishes the shrimp egg foo young & fish fillet. The shrimp egg foo young came w/large shrimps & was pretty good. The fish fillet was ok but nothing special. They also tossed in a couple of complimentary egg rolls w/the order.

There's a daily special - even on the weekend

It's difficult to write a review for me after only one visit, unless there was something incredibly noteworthy or if the experience warranted some type of heads up for the Yelp community. Nee how ma (Hello) Asian Kitchen Express, there was that distinct Cantonese taste that reminded me of the type of cooking that I grew up on and it triggered a lot of fond memories. Thank you for that, sincerely, Xie xie. It's certainly different from Sichuan or Fukien style, so this was awesome!! Not that those styles are any less or better. The shrimp egg foo young...it was light, fluffy and plump - with huge shrimps and a sauce that's similar to what you would have on a moco loco (Rainbows). If this quintessential dish is wrong, that's a deal breaker for me, so my meal was off to a good start!! The pad Thai with beef, shrimp and chicken - that was weird and it was a protein overload but it still tasted authentic in that, the cooking didn't deviate from how it should taste. I'll probably just stick to chicken, next time around. The Mongolian beef was loaded with beef and tasted very very good. A nice ratio between veggies and beef. Now the crab Rangoon was the biggest surprise for me, there were many and all were stuffed with cream cheese - a pure delight!! Finally, their lunch specials also apply on Saturdays and Sundays, so I will be back for sure.

They haven't changed the name on the building yet. It's where Go Go China exists.

As of a few weeks ago this storefront has changed hands yet again. The carryout continues to be a fast food Chinese carryout and unless you carefully looked into one of their darkened windows and saw the new signage, you would think you are buying food from the previous restaurant Go Go China. The inside of the carryout looks as if the old owner walked out leaving everything intact. Like their neon signage offering Thai food and sushi. However, the Asian Kitchen only offers a couple Thai dishes and no sushi. This new company hit the scene fast launching a website (with viewable menus) from the start. Although there isn't much description of entrees given. When I entered I was accompanied by one of their workers that had returned from picking up food for his lunch break. Guy came in with a bag of McDonald's, sat down and started to eat. (Management should consider the action. Employees taking up dining room space eating food from competitors.) The whole place was smelling like fast food. The smell marketing started to work in favor of Mcd's, because I thought about leaving and visiting a local grill by me. Instead, I weighed the options of fresh vs fast food and ended up staying. Put in an order for potstickers, shrimp fried rice and a special plate of three ingredient Mongolian. I added a special request of everything spicy. Food was ready in about 25 minutes. How was it? The shrimp fried rice had an ample serving of large shrimp pieces and the potstickers were super doughy with a forgettable filling inside. All in all it was an average tasting experience. For strip mall fast food Chinese they are priced like the average stand-alone, sit down restaurant. However I am not seeing or tasting the value of the spend. For those that are like.. eh, what does he know. For that thirty something dollar spend, my carryout bag was heavy with foods. You may enjoy that feature.

Large Ma Po Tofu

Got there Menu in the mail the other day & decided to give them a try. 4 Stars for not having Chinese Broccoli. I ordered 30 min prior to closing. But everything still came fresh. I ordered the Salt & Pepper Shrimp (which was well seasoned and not too salty), Jumbo Shrimp Fried Rice (pretty good), Beef Broccoli (beef was good and broccoli was crunchy), Beef Chow Fun (good amount of meat & noodles). Almost forgot about the Ma Po Tofu with ground pork (really good tofu will definitely order this again). The Crab Ragoons & Egg Rolls i would not order again. But, overall, there food was pretty good.

Shrimp lo mein..this was AFTER I finished eating

Tasty food made well and quickly. Have been looking for a new go-to Asian food restaurant since moving to the area, and not disappointed.

I'm here nearly 26 years later trying it, and I absolutely loved it here. The lollipop wings were huge, juicy, and packed with that spicy flavor. We also tried their version of "cha chiang mein", and it did not disappoint! I love how soft the noodles were with the black bean sauce. I'm definitely getting those items again! The service was absolutely amazing!!! The ladies working there were so nice, and they made sure to check in on us throughout our meal. They were so sweet, and I would love to dine here again. My buddy turned me onto this place and we came here twice for their lunch specials for $9.95, $10.95 if beef is used in lieu of chicken or shrimp. The lunch specials are from 11am - 3pm . These are a great value w/decent sized portions & come w/a protein like chicken or shrimp along w/an egg roll or soup & white or chicken fried rice. Tonight my insurance agent & her husband took my wife & I out to dinner. We started w/an order for crab rangoon & ordered 3 dishes to be shared family style. We ordered chow fun w/chicken, pork & shrimp, eggplant w/chicken & salt & pepper fish. All three dishes were excellent. This is a small ma & pa restaurant just south of the brown line train on Kedzie Ave in a tiny little strip mall w/parking. Both of couple are super friendly & nice. They have been here for over 20 years and am surprised I'm just finding out about this little hidden gem. I feel the food is very good & @ a reasonable price. The restaurant is very small w/limited seating. In the 3X's I've eaten here I found that they do a brisk pick up w/the restaurant located just south of the brown line Kedzie location. I really enjoy this restaurant as the food is good, reasonably priced w/super friendly owners. This is definitely worthy of the 5 stars I'm giving it for a number of the items I pointed out.

I just moved to the area and tried Chen's Garden for the first time. I called to ask if I could swap the shrimp fried rice they offer with their dinner specials for just plain steamed rice (there is no option for that on their website unfortunately, thus the call). But the person who answered was very nice, hospitable, and took my request with ease. The actual store seems to be carry-out only (which is normal in the post-COVID era). But everyone seemed nice when I picked the food up and I even threw in a pack of almond cookies for the experience. I can report those cookies were fresh! And for a $1.75, I believe. I had all the sauce packets I could possibly want: Soy sauce, Sweet and Sour, and even a Hot Mustard for the egg roll. I will definitely be back and look forward to it!

This smallish restaurant is tucked away in a strip mall on Pulaski with three other chain food establishments, but we wanted to support a local place. They have lunch and dinner specials where you can get a main course, shrimp fried rice and egg roll. My love enjoyed her fried shrimp dinner, and the pieces of fried shrimp sure did look massive. My large order of Cantonese-style BBQ pork chow mein satisfied my craving for chow mein, though it is not as tasty as many other chow mein dishes I have sampled across Chicagoland. They did separate the pan-fried noodles in another carton from the rest of the ingredients to ensure the crispiness of the noodles. Chen's Garden serves its food in heaping portions, the pricing is reasonable, the staff whips up the orders fairly quickly, and the leftovers heat up well enough too. I hear the smoothies are pretty good, so one of these days I may have to try one.
