I've been ordering from Chinatown Kitchen for years, so I have knowledge about the food and the menu, which has been terrific in the past. However, the last couple of times I've ordered, the food is so-so. The hot and sour soup no longer has bits of meat in it. The General Tso's chicken is too bready and the chicken (what's there) is dry. Their food doesn't have the same taste to it, not sure why. I'm very disappointed in the food. We are using that place for 20+ years. My favorites are Happy Family and Ma Po Tofu. Wonton soup and house special duck are great as well. There are many other good choices. I seriously enjoyed my lunch when I was here 2 weeks ago. Delicious fried rice, SS chicken and egg roll. The chicken portion was quite large for a lunch special. I've been apprehensive going here because I'm a Yen Yen/Palace Cantonese fan and this place was quite comparable to me. Best take out Chinese within a 15 mile radius that I've found. They're closed on Mondays. I highly recommend the sesame chicken, potstickers and egg drop soup. My husband loves the chicken teriyaki. If you ever move West of Chicago, you will miss the egg rolls we Chicagoans and our neighbors to the East have. Having lived on the west coast and now in Texas, "egg rolls" in these areas are what we would consider spring rolls which definitely are not the same. Due to this, I really enjoyed the egg rolls from Chinatown Kitchen. This is for delivery so I cannot speak about the restaurant. We ordered their combination fried rice (really good), bok choy in garlic sauce (solid), general tso's chicken (good flavor, but the chicken was really dried out, this was the biggest disappointment), a pork and noodle dish, I have forgotten the name (this was really good) and the chicken and eggplant (this was the best and we were all fighting over the last bites of it). They did forget to bring the steamed rice which was a tad annoying, but they did come back to delivery it. Unfortunately at that time we had pretty much already finished eating. meh pretty much sums it up for me. Its been a while since I've had any food from chinatown kitchen and I remembered why that was. The potstickers from here are usually pretty good but the sauce for them just has an odd taste that doesn't really work for me. The chicken is on teh heavier side as well and there wasn't that much in the crab rangoon. The delivery did come pretty fast, but mostly for me the food is pretty bland and on teh heavier side. We have been searching for a really good Chinese food restaurant since moving to Glenview and finally found it. Located in a strip mall with a couple of tables inside, we weren't sure what to expect. The reviews seemed promising so we took our chances. We got sesame chicken which was sweet and delicious. The egg rolls we big and crispy and better than I've had from other places in the north shore. The crab Rangoon were so good especially with the sweet and sour sauce that came with it. We also got beef and shrimp fired rice and it was very yummy. Overall this is the best Chinese food in the area and for all the dishes we got, we paid less than $30. I highly recommend trying it. Best value for takeout. I worked down the street and we found this place a few years ago. Whether delivery or pickup, they've yet to fail me. I usually get the Teriyaki Chicken or Cashew Chicken lunch special that comes with fried rice, and they are so good! You get your choice of pop or egg roll too. It's usually enough for me to eat over two days for like $5 or $6. My friend always gets their fried rice, and she started a GF diet, and they have GF soy sauce too.
