    AYCE Hotpot

A classic spot if you're looking to satisfy your hotpot craving! I went with a group of seven and it was sooo incredibly busy on a cold weekend. We had reservations for 7PM but actually weren't seated until 7:30. You can bag your winter coats and they offer hair ties and bibs so you feel more comfortable. Make your own sauce you wait for the broth to arrive, and try their house special sauce with some hoisin! For AYCE hotpot only, it is $34/pp before tax/tip (they also offer BBQ for an additional price). Tip: If it's your birthday with a party of 4+, they also offer free hotpot discount if you show your ID (I believe it's at least 1 day +/- your actual birthday) so definitely let them know to take it off your receipt!

GO TO spot for hot pot in bk! solid spot with friends and family. Food comes out pretty fast, portion sizes are good, and service was attentive!

When my coworker told me that she never had hotpot, I wanted to help her cross that off her bucket list. On a Friday night, another coworker and I took her to LaoJie. We arrived at 7pm, we were told it was an hour and half wait. We should had made reservation. Thus, we went to a bubble tea place nearby. At 7:30pm, we received a call that our table was available. We got a little of everything. My newbie coworker said her favorite ingredient was the fungus. Go figure. I loved the tripe and fish balls. The other coworker loved the winter melon. I went basic with my soup. I chose tomato broth. The newbie went with the black chicken one. I was fascinated with the ingredients she kept taking out of it...a dried plum, red seeds and black chicken meat. The bill came out to $41 per person including tips. Since we paid with cash, the waiter gave us mango dessert, lemon honey drink and candies on the house.

AYCE done right! I'm so wary of AYCE hotpot because I get really frustrated when you order something and it either takes forever to come or doesn't come at all. I'm primarily here to up my protein intake haha so I want as much beef as I can get! This isn't a problem here as the dishes will come almost TOO fast. Just kidding but it's super cool to see the servers bring plates of food with their entire arms stacked high. Professionals! I visited with 6 people for my friends birthday on a super bustling Sunday night - the space is really big and bright and smoky from the hotpot and bbq, such good vibes. We were seated and each got our own soup/burner! I chose tomato soup base which is really good generally but got a little bit too sweet for me towards the end. I'll stick to the pork bone broth next time. Again everything came super fast - no complaints at all with the service. You order the broths first with your server and then everything else you add to a cart on an iPad (4 units max per dish). There's a lot of beef styles, the fatty beef and also leaner as well as tender cuts. I love the shrimp and fish paste, as well as as the fish roe fish balls and enoki mushroom. General rule of thumb is just to cook until it floats. The sauce station is well stocked - they also refill during busy moments. I was super happy with my experience here! For $38pp and free if you visit with 4 people on your birthday, it's an awesome place for AYCE!

My friends and I ALWAYS dine here whenever we're craving hotpot. We usually come with a big group and get the private room if it is available. FYI, you need to spend a minimum of $288 to book the room. We came recently and everything is self order on an iPad now. While this is a nice change, it was very laggy and quite annoying. Ordering with the waiter would've been much quicker. The main reason why we come is for the milk tea pudding dessert at the end. We absolutely love that and it is so refreshing! I always get a cup or two to go. The food selection isn't bad for hotpot and it is always fresh. The spicy beef is one of my favorite to get! The sauce station is a disaster at times. I wish they paid more attention to that. The area can be a mess, sauces would be low/empty, different sauces going into other sauces and the bowls/handles can be dirty at times. Onto the staff. The waiters are SO nice! They are quick, efficient and polite. We never had any issue with the waitstaff. But my most recent dining experience, I encountered the girls at the cashier and they were so rude! There was a miscommunication with the bill and they were so rude about it. We were in a rush to leave so I didn't want to argue and ended up paying more than what I should have. That left such a bad impression after coming here for years. Just a tip, give the bill to your waiter instead and avoid the girls at the cashier.

LaoJie is my spot for ayce hot pot, especially on a cold winter day. I always try to make a reservation since walk ins usually have a 30 minute wait. I came on New Year's Day, and the place was packed, but my 6 PM reservation saved me. This time, I got the bone broth, but the tomato broth is usually my favorite, very flavorful! The bone broth is more mild but still good. They switched to using iPads to order, and it's such a great update! I do wish they provided us wet wipes to clean the iPad as we don't know who touched the iPad last. You can order every 8-9 minutes, and the food comes out fast. It is way more convenient than waiting on a server to take your order. While you wait, you can mix your own sauce at the sauce bar. My go to is their specialty sauce with garlic, scallions, and a little chili oil. The ingredients are always fresh, and there's so much variety from veggies to meats to seafood. At the end of your meal, you get their milk pudding for dessert, which is so good, plus some gum or guava candy when you pay. The only downside this time was that the floor was wet and slippery since it was so busy, but the staff at this location is super nice, way friendlier than other LaoJie spots I've been to. Definitely worth checking out, and make sure you come hungry!

An absolutely solid choice for AYCE hotpot -- the price is reasonable in my opinion for the quality and variety they offer. From my experience, most AYCE hotpot places stick to basic, simple broths, but I was really impressed by the options here. The pots are individual, I opted for the Herbal soup base, and it was delicious -- flavorful and aromatic. They offer all the essential hotpot ingredients, with a fantastic variety of veggies, soy products, fish balls and more. The selection is truly unmatched, and they even have seafood like clams, which were massive. The interior and ambiance were great, and the service was excellent. The staff came around regularly to clear empty dishes and take our orders. A nice touch was the complimentary dessert -- a milk tea pudding (I think?). Overall, Laojie Hotpot provided a great AYCE hotpot experience, and I would definitely recommend giving it a try!

I've been to this location twice and the interior is so beautiful. And the food as always is absolutely delicious. I tried the lamb for the first time and I must've ate three servings by myself. It was so good; 100% recommend. It was better than the beef. We got complementary desserts, which was nice. The service was pretty good. I will say a lot of our orders got messed up or not received after the first two rounds. But the staff was always willing to help out in the end anyway. So that's why I'm keeping it at five stars. Honestly, really great experience.

Food: This has always been one of my top hot pot places in NYC! Food quality is high and they offer a variety of items. The broth and sauces did seem better years ago when they first opened, but overall I still like this place for hot pot. They have the typical hot pot items, but some unique ones are blue crabs, brown sugar rice cakes, pumpkin cakes, fried bread with condensed milk and handmade shrimp paste and fish paste. The selection of broths include pork bone, tomato, winter melon, herbal, and spicy. At the end of the meal, you get milk tea pudding as a dessert which is included in the meal. It's a two hour time limit, but they don't kick you out if the restaurant is not busy. Service: Service has always been excellent here. They come around to collect your empty dishes and also offer to change your plates. They refill your broth when they see your pot is getting empty. They are also very friendly and nice about taking your order and asking if you want anything else. Ambiance: The decor and ambiance is very nice here. Seating is very spacious and comfortable. They have small and large tables that accommodate any size group. Overall, I would highly recommend this restaurant!

Worth it AYCE. Always my go to spot ever since this location opened. Always good for hotpot. Service is usually decent just a bit of time in between serving. The environment though is always too loud. Music is always playing so loud to the point that I can't have a conversation with the people at my table.

Street parking only. Ambiance is not bad. Staff is overall friendly. You could do hotpot and BBQ combo but you pay a few dollars more for that. We went for hotpot only because we wouldn't be able to eat much so we didn't want to waste money or food. Individual pot. A few choices for the soup bases. A lot on the menu but a lot of items seem to be similar. Some items on the menu are not included in the buffet style. Drink is not included in the buffet fee either. I wish they just include everything. Why bother to call it buffet when many items are not included... The fried bun is just ok. Not enough condense milk. The sauce bar is not bad. It has most popular sauces for hotpot.

AYCE Hotpot $31.98 per person. SERVICE: People came to add more water to our soup and responded to our additional requests often. SOUP BASE: They have an interesting variety. I always get the herbal soup base whenever I go out for AYCE. Glad I tried the Dark chicken, Satay, Wolfberry soup base. My friend got the herbal soup base and there were mini pieces of garlic and maybe dried shallots? SAUCES: They had the sauces in the front. Tried their house special sauces but didn't really taste too special to me. MEATS: The fatty beef slices were good, your typical hotpot staple. The pork slices are OK. For other people who may not eat beef this could be an option. They also had lamb slices too and I wanted to try that but was afraid it might be gamy. Will give it a try next time haha SEAFOOD: I feel like they don't have much variety. My friend is FJ and they eat a lot of seafood and she mentioned that there wasn't as much. VEGGIES: They have your typical hotpot veggies. DESSERT: I like their milk tea pudding? Overall, a great hotpot place in the neighborhood.

The food was very fairly priced and the portions were huge. We got the pork soup dumplings, pork fried rice, szechuan chicken (which came with white rice), and pad see ew (which though not listed comes with pork, chicken, and shrimp). Everything was solid, but our favorite was the fried rice which had a ton of flavor. I liked the veggies that were in the chicken dish but there were just way too many of them compared to the chicken and I wasn't crazy about the sauce. The pad see ew wasn't made the traditional way I've had it with soy sauce and oyster sauce. It had some sort of orange sauce that tasted closer to a sweet and sour. It wasn't bad it was just not what I was hoping for. The soup dumplings were solid, no complaints there. And the fried rice was great, lots of flavor. Overall, I liked this place especially for the price but I'd probably order different things if I went back.

I found parking down the block and walked over to the restaurant. It seems like more of a delivery spot because there was no one inside sitting at any of the 5 tables. It's a fairly good size space, very simply decorated, mixed with a cool wall resembling a curio cabinet of treasures. I chose a spot in the middle and went to the restroom which was clean and simple. I noticed there were a lot of takeout orders, from delivery services to local folks picking up their regular dinner. I looked over the menu and decided on salt and pepper wings and an order of shrimp. Fried Rice came out first and it was delicious. I even tasted a hint of salted egg yolk mixed into the egg mixture friefried up with the rice that signature crispiness with the little saltiness.... fantastic. The salt and pepper wings were different than the ones i'm accustomed to though the flavor was amazing. It didn't have the fried garlic, peppers, chilis, and onions that i'm accustomed to being in the dish. They were still flavorful, juicy and crisp and I could tell they cooked them fresh. That was much appreciated. I ended up taking half of my food home because I was stuffed.Thank you Msm Ellen and the Crown Garden crew for a tasty solo dinner.
