Food: The food is delicious here! This restaurant specializes in clay pot casseroles as well as clay pot rice. There is a wide variety of casserole dishes including chicken wings, chicken gizzards, chicken feet, pork ribs, sliced beef with enoki, braised beef brisket, eel, prawns, clams in black bean sauce, spicy mala chicken, tofu, veggies, and much more. There are some appetizers and noodle dishes, but the majority of their dishes come in clay pots. The meal comes with complimentary soup (pork bone with greens) which is pretty tasty. We tried the water spinach, pork ribs, and clams in black bean sauce. All pots come out hot and sizzling. I look forward to coming back here to try their other clay pots. Service: Service was excellent; staff members were attentive and friendly. We went during peak dinner time, and the place was packed. The food did take a little longer to come out because it was so busy, but the wait wasn't too bad. Clay pots came out one by one about 10-15 minutes apart. Ambiance: The restaurant is a good size and can accomodate both large and small groups. Seating is comfortable, and the ambiance is very nice. Newly renovated, well-lit and modern looking. Overall, I would recommend this restaurant!

I traveled all this way just to have Cantonese JuJu claypot dishes (Zhe Zhe). "JuJu" is a Cantonese onomatopoeia describing the sizzling and hissing sound when a piping-hot claypot is brought to the table. The JuJu Pork Intestine with Pickled Mustard Greens Claypot came with a generous amount of pickled greens, and the intestines were pre-pan-fried to render out the grease. The JuJu Mixed Pork Offal Claypot only included pork stomach and pork liver. The JuJu Fish Maw Claypot had a wonderfully bouncy, chewy texture that was incredibly addictive. On the other hand, the Spare ribs Claypot Rice was a bit pricey at $17.95 a pot! At least the daily soup was complimentary. All in all, dining at this place wasn't exactly value for money!

The dishes are meant for sharing and they all come in clay pots so there's a lot of sizzling and smokiness in every dish. Their rice rolled noodles were one of the best I've had. Very flavorful and plenty of wok hay. The black pepper beef cubes were super tender and the cauliflower dish was very good too. I would definitely go back to try more. The decor is modern and sleek so it gets very loud. Be advised your clothes will smell smoky afterwards.

Service: 3.4/5 Food: 2.6/5 Price: $25-$40 Decorated in a modern style + comfortably spaced booths that filled up pretty quickly, right at opening. Portion-wise everything is geared towards family-style dining. Dishes are a little expensive, so would recommend focusing on entrées + then sides of rice, not their claypot rice bowls. What I Ordered: - Claypot Rice w/ Salted Chicken: ~75% rice + single layer of mostly bony chicken on top - Stir-Fried Rice Noodles w/ Pork (substituted): not too oily, good chew + protein quantity, pork belly not lean meat, not much wok hei - Shrimp Paste String Beans: very fermented + salty (personal preference mismatch), limp beans

This is located at the busy section of 86th street, only street parking if you drive there. It could be hard to find parking sometimes. The place looks pretty new and clean. Staff is very attentive. Service is good but expect to wait a bit for the clay pot rice cuz they make it when you order it. Food is decent. We ordered the clay pot with the chicken gizzard I believe. It doesn't come with white rice so you'll have to order that separately if you want rice. The flavor is good but the gizzard is very very chewy. I don't think I'll order it again. 6/10 Clay pot rice is good and has a nice crust. 8/10 The soup desert we ordered is a just soso. Just sweet but not much special. 5/10

Love claypot foods & this place did not disappoint. The menu had so much items to choose from. We ended up ordering to share: 1) salted egg yolk prawns clay pot, 2) black pepper beef cubes clay pot, 3) clay pot chicken w/ shiitake mushrooms and chestnuts, 4) cucumber salad. Their top 2 best sellers (salted egg yolk prawn & black pepper beef cubes clay pot) were super delicious. Those 2 were our most favorite. The corn in that salted egg yolk prawn claypot was the star. Too bad they didn't put that much corn in it. The shrimp was good but it was deep fried w/ the outer shell on. The black pepper beef cubes were so tender, juicy and well seasoned. I didn't care much for the vegetables and garlic in the claypot. The chicken w/ shiitake mushroom claypot was our least favorite. The chicken was ok & there wasn't that much shiitake mushroom or chestnut in it. The cucumber salad was also not our most favorite - it could be better. You have to order rice on the side because the claypots did not come w/ it. But the rice was amazing and very fragrant! We enjoyed eating it w/ the foods. Decor was very nice + modern. Staff were all very friendly, attentive and nice. We went during lunar new year week + did not know they were doing a raffle. By the end of the meal, the nice waiter brings a box of gashapon looking green balls + asked us to choose 1. I digged deep into the box & won a toshiba rice cooker! WOW! We were all amazed. My dad was very happy because I gave it to him. I would come back to try their other food items. Their top sellers were really delicious though.

If you're looking for authentic Cantonese "zhe zhe" clay pot cuisine, this spot feels incredibly homey and they are light on the MSG. What we ordered: Frog Leg over Rice (4/5): A massive portion of rice! Great for sharing, though the meat-to-rice ratio is a a lot of rice and little rice Cauliflower (4.25/5): That "wok hei" smokiness was incredible. Good veggie dish Eggplant with Salted Fish (4.5/5): Our absolute favorite of the night. It was delicious, though we could have used a bit more of that bold salted fish flavor! Spare Ribs with Chinese Sausage (4/5): Classic flavors, but like the frog leg, it's a thinner layer of meat over a lot of rice. Pro-tip for next time: Order one "clay pot over rice" to share, then fill the table with their standalone clay pot dishes!

Finally came to try this place where all dishes are cooked in a claypot! We ordered 4 dishes and 2 of them were excellent (salted fish eggplant and stir fried water spinach). The salted egg chicken wings had a nice coating but the meat was kind of dried and the sweet and sour pork ribs, they must've forgotten the sour part because it wasn't sour at all. The restaurant had multiple 4-6 person booths lining both walls of the restaurant with a few 2 person tables in the middle and with 1 big round table at the end. Staff was attentive and nice. Will definitely come back to try other pots!

Zhe Zhe Pot was far for me but it was worth the trip. I love the cultural design art that was all around. It was not a long wait to get my food. The service there was great 10/10. The waiter helped me with what to order. They will start you off with complimentary tea and then some soup. I order the chicken clay pot. It was good and flavorful. My favorite was the rice noodles and it was very good. This place was great, great environment, great service, and great food.

Ever since Zhe Zhe Pot opened, my fam has been wanting to visit, and we finally did recently to celebrate a birthday. We went on a Sunday night and it was almost a full house. We ordered a mixture of dishes so we could try everything. - Pan-Fried Oyster Omelette: Decent oyster omelette - has a chewy but also crispy texture, and the omelette has shrimp and squid in it. It was a bit more eggy than I'd like, though. - Claypot Rice with Eel: Really good and flavorful! I love that they added sweet soy sauce to the rice because it really elevates the flavors. Highly recommend and will be back to order again. - Salted Fish Eggplant Clay Pot: Really good for a veggie dish. Not the healthiest because it's quite oily, but that's to be expected with eggplant and clay pots. The flavor was on point and is great with white rice. - Black Pepper Beef Cubes Clay Pot: The beef was surprisingly tender and had a nice black peppery taste. I'd order this again! - Clay Pot Chicken with Shiitake Mushrooms and Chestnuts: Not my favorite dish. It was a bit bland compared to the rest, and the chicken was very bony. The shiitake mushrooms were very meaty and juicy tho. - Cauliflower Clay Pot: Very small portion size, and we felt that it wasn't anything special or worth the price compared to the others. The cauliflower arrived barely cooked, but I think the clay pot cooked it over time, so you'd have to mix it around yourself before eating. For the price, I kind of wish they gave a bowl of rice with each clay pot dish instead of having to order on the side for $2 each. However, the complimentary coconut chicken soup they gave was really good! Very strong flavors for something free, which we didn't expect at all. Towards the end of our meal, the table behind us had a dish come out that smelled very fragrant. We asked the waitress what that was and it was the Black Bean Sauce Grass Carp Clay Pot. I'm looking forward to trying that dish next time, even though it'll be very bony!

Ambiance - is pretty bright, spacious and clean. decent to comfortable for dining. many booths 4 - 6 ppl size and 1 medium size round table at the back. Service - all the server were very friendly and nice. somewhat attentive. Food - the dish options are unique, dont get to see in other Chinese restaurants, the tastes are pretty good. worth a try. Overall the menu price is overpriced since the portion are not big.

Nice decor and very clean. The service is great. Complimentary tea and soup was given to the diners today. They were very busy but just calm out to someone and they'll be right with you. The Food Pickled Mustard Greens with Pork Intestine clay Pot: 5/5 This is the best out of the ones we got. The pickled mustard was great sour and tantalizing. This paired well with the perfectly cooked pork intestines in a combination of sour, savory, a little spicy and a tiny hint of sweetness. The intestines were cooked perfectly no hint of intestinal flavor and a bouncy profile with a mild chew. This is a must get! Black Bean Clam Clay Pot: 4/5 Good amount of clams; solid flavors; and a good dish if you like to have some clams. There was almost no grit from these clams. Cauliflower Clay Pot: 4/5 Flavor was spot on. Has a tiny bit of spice to help give it a small kick. None of the flavors were overpowering. The cauliflower could've used a little more less cook time but other than that it was great. Perilla Bullfrog Clay Pot: 3/5 Good cook on the frog but flavor profile was not my favorite. The brown sauce was a bit too salty and strong without any other flavors to complement it. It definitely would've been better if made into a spicy dish. Overall for the price and amount of food not bad. The flavor was mainly on point and it shows with how busy they are. If you come; even though it sounds off putting but hands down their best dish; you gotta try the Pickled Mustard Greens with Pork Intestine clay Pot.

Black Pepper Beef Cubes Clay Pot Must get; delicious and perfectly cooked

A very solid 4 visit. But I'm going to give it a 5 because of the free soup, but why is my base review a 4? It really just came down to personal preference reasons and I'll explain why. We dined out as a family, so bringing the little ones are always dicey; i.e not entirely sure if you're going to be downing your food in a rush due to meltdowns or kids won't eat etc. so I knew I needed to know what to order as soon as I got in as clay pot rice takes about 20 min to make. So my advice is to come in knowing your rice pot order and placing it immediately. We ordered: fish maw clay pot, beef cube clay pot and a large eel rice clay pot. The rice pots can be ordered in a small or medium size. This was my own oversight; I thought they had a lengthy list of rice pot dishes; it's a lengthy list of CLAY POT dishes and only a SELECTION of rice pot dishes. Fish maw: This wasn't bad, flavor wise it was good, but the texture was chewy. I expected more of a braised/soft texture but this was like a quick stir fry so quite chewy. Beef cubes: star of the night. Many places don't do this right, but this place does. Why? The meat is tender and flavorful and high in quantity. The main reason why it's tender? They know the clay pot will continue to cook the beef, so as soon as it hits the table, it's at medium rare. So if that's your jam, pull it out and start eating. If you like it more well done, let it sit a bit longer. I enjoyed both and the kids ate it up. Eel rice pot: this was not what I expected, but the picture should have given it away. It comes pre mixed and the texture is not that of a fluffy jasmine rice. It's more similar to slow stir fried sticky rice that retains texture and chew, which is nice, but just unexpected. So if you enjoy sticky rice; this will be a hit. The eel is sliced thin and mixed in with bits of scallion. The crispy bottom easily comes off the clay pot, which is lovely (no battling with the pot). The clay pots keep the dishes warm even as you slowly eat your food. For the parents; you know that feeding kids takes awhile and it's hard to have a hot meal, so this was a nice plus. Service was attentive and kind. My little one is noisy and in everyone's business, but staff were very nice to him and checked in on us frequently. So the extra star is for the free soup. This is not your free powdered mix in soup. This is grandma made soup for the grandkids type of soup. There's edible meat, flavor, and homey feels coming from it, and at a portion enough for a family. My picky kids wanted the soup meat. the. Soup. Meat.

The menu also says it comes with house special dessert but we never gotten any. For any seafood, it's market price plus they add a 30% processing fee, which is strange to me. For a Chinese restaurant which usually does not charge tax if you pay with cash, they charge tax here whether you pay by card or cash. The restaurant is pretty big and spacious. As a lover of Dim Sum, I start my weekend morning by making the long commute just to get a taste of everything. The spot is constantly bustling with people moving in and out of the restaurant, the waiters running around, the carts strolling to each table, etc. These days, cart services have been decreasing, but it's nice to see that some spots have still kept them around. My rotation always includes the following-har gow, deep-fried noodlefish, shrimp cheong fun (rice noodle roll), zhaliang (fried dough rice noodle roll), chicken feet, and beef tripe-and now more recently, salt and pepper squid. I'm not even joking when I say this, but my mouth was salivating when they placed everything in front of us. Everything was fresh and just so full of flavor. I randomly get reminded of the taste and suddenly crave it again. We also have to thank the wonderful expeditors who would make sure we got everything we wanted. When the salt and pepper squid had run out of the carts, they made sure to request more for our table and got us a fresh, hot, and steaming plate of it. Everything at dimsum might seem very hectic and quick, but when you're sitting down with your family and friends, it can really feel calming. They also give you a choice of tea; we love getting chrysanthemum to wash down the grease from the fried food. There's no wonder people make this a weekly routine; it's just got everything you could need.

The busy neighborhood setting means the interior is often shaped by crowds, and during peak weekend hours it fills up quickly. We saw people lined up outside waiting for tables before we even made it through the door. The core experience here is centered around classic push cart dim sum service. Servers moved through the dining room with carts, offering a rotating selection of dumplings, buns, and other small plates. We spotted har gow, shumai, chicken feet, and spare ribs as part of the typical spread. There were also more varied items like beef offal and pepper beef ribs that showed up depending on which cart passed by. It felt like a small discovery every time a new cart rounded the corner. Service is fast paced and structured around the flow of carts and seating turnover. Things got chaotic during the busy period, with wait times and seating queues feeling like a normal part of the experience. Once we were seated, dishes started arriving quickly, but the pace of ordering depended on catching carts as they circulated through the room. I'm talking grandma's-house-in-the-mainland type canto food like bitter melon, pork meat pie, fermented peppers, and braised pig's feet. It's the real deal and it's REAL GOOD. They also serve roast meat (chicken, duck, pork). They don't speak fluent English, so it will help if you know Mandarin/Cantonese OR keep your dialogue to a minimum by following the directions below. I highly recommend getting the combo with rice and 3 sides. To order, go up to the glass window (outside) and gesture that you want your food to-go or to eat-in. I usually get it to-go. The sides are displayed in the pans behind the glass. Choose 3 by pointing. My usual order is a meat pie, preserved peppers, and a vegetable. Then, go inside and pay (about $6.50 per combo). They will ask if you want a free soup...say yes because the soup is filled with MSG and is delicious. I can understand why people would be hesitant to come here due to concern for cleanliness, but all the good restaurants in Chinatown are dirty. I'll take my chances.

I got steamed egg, sweet and sour chicken, cauliflower and ong choy. They have seating in the back if you would like to sit their and eat. You do have to order before you can sit in the back though. The staff is nice, they can answer any questions you have for them.

Was hangry trying to figure out dinner. Stumbled onto bonnies which had been on the hit list…read more First off, LOVE them embracing being cantonese american. Simultaneously unironic and ironic decor that makes it feel natural to what they want to accomplish. I got the shrimp wontons. Gotta be honest, they were good, and kinda got worried i made the wrong move. The peanut sauce is nice. Thick consistency with a rich nuttiness. Still enough salt and heat to cut through and not make it feel too rich. The wontons were cooked quite well, perfectly gummy, soft. But, then came MCRIB. My life was altered. I was instantaneously transported to a bbq joint, asian restaurant, and a mcdonalds, oh and even a lovely bakery. This thing is so many things, yet unauthentically 1/1. A FLUFFY bun. Loaded with air lined with the strands of feathers. Char siu pork. Has a crispy, caramelized skinned with the perfect fat content. Rich, chewy, and ya know when ribs like tear away in strands. Oh it does that. Insane. A tangy glaze. Sugary sweet just giving upper cuts to the salt of the pork. It's tangy, and so thick is doesnt even jiggle on that pork. Glued. A mustard with what I can only suggest is wasabi. Ohh, one breath of heat immediately mellowed by the glaze. Onions add a fresh crisp with a sharp acidity. This is one of those sandwiches that you see when you google "sandwiches" To top it off the staff is great. Very rarely do you witness camaraderie as authentic and clean as what i saw at bonnies. Attentive, energetic, compassionate. Just a team full of great people that shared the same love for each other they do for hospitality

We were seated in their covered heated patio area which is lovely and comfortable. I was wary of things being salty but the dishes we got were all perfectly seasoned. We got 6x oysters, and the Shrimp and Walnuts to start. Both were great, the shrimp is unique and a stand out dish. We split the mussels and frites and "McRib" sandwich, and they were also excellent and really tasty. We also tried three drinks, black tea penicillin, Ribena Highball and Henny Kravitz, which I would all recommend. Overall a great meal.
