Black Pepper Beef Cubes Clay Pot

Food: 4/5 Price: 3/5 Been here a few times now and we enjoyed the food here. "Zhe Zhe" is a style of cooking/serving food in a claypot... which was introduced to us during our family visits in Hong Kong, years ago. lol surprised it finally made it to Brooklyn. The aesthetic is cafe like, with booth seatings and a few scattered tables for 2, 4, 6 and a big one for family. Service is fine, efficient, brings out your food and drinks, refills water. Dishes come out much faster than "claypot" rice. So keep that in mind. We've had their signature fried rice, with some diced preserved meats & lettuce heart, my son loved it. The bottom is crispy and delish. As for the Zhe Zhe - tried the chicken wings (nice flavor, but careful with loose small bones! Death trap for teeth!); the pepper beef was smokey and tender, the pork ribs with star fruit was quite good. Salted fish with eggplant - can't go wrong, always a hit. For veggies - we've tried the Tong Choy and Choy Faa, - I would say it's ok. The Tong Choy is better at regular restaurants with the "wok hay". The Choy Faa... was drown in oil. Tried their green grape tea and it's refreshing. Overall a solid dinner spot for families. Great addition to Bensonhurst. Just know, the prices are slightly on the higher side... but in this economy... sounds about right.

Over the course of one night, Zhe Zhe Pot became an all-time favorite restaurant for my mom and I. Each dish was quite literally perfection. It's hard not to daydream while eating, about eating the same dishes over and over again. Excited to come back and try more of the menu, including the salted fish and eggplant claypot and the green beans. Highly recommend for all foodies!

Food: The food is delicious here! This restaurant specializes in clay pot casseroles as well as clay pot rice. There is a wide variety of casserole dishes including chicken wings, chicken gizzards, chicken feet, pork ribs, sliced beef with enoki, braised beef brisket, eel, prawns, clams in black bean sauce, spicy mala chicken, tofu, veggies, and much more. There are some appetizers and noodle dishes, but the majority of their dishes come in clay pots. The meal comes with complimentary soup (pork bone with greens) which is pretty tasty. We tried the water spinach, pork ribs, and clams in black bean sauce. All pots come out hot and sizzling. I look forward to coming back here to try their other clay pots. Service: Service was excellent; staff members were attentive and friendly. We went during peak dinner time, and the place was packed. The food did take a little longer to come out because it was so busy, but the wait wasn't too bad. Clay pots came out one by one about 10-15 minutes apart. Ambiance: The restaurant is a good size and can accomodate both large and small groups. Seating is comfortable, and the ambiance is very nice. Newly renovated, well-lit and modern looking. Overall, I would recommend this restaurant!

The dishes are meant for sharing and they all come in clay pots so there's a lot of sizzling and smokiness in every dish. Their rice rolled noodles were one of the best I've had. Very flavorful and plenty of wok hay. The black pepper beef cubes were super tender and the cauliflower dish was very good too. I would definitely go back to try more. The decor is modern and sleek so it gets very loud. Be advised your clothes will smell smoky afterwards.

Service: 3.4/5 Food: 2.6/5 Price: $25-$40 Decorated in a modern style + comfortably spaced booths that filled up pretty quickly, right at opening. Portion-wise everything is geared towards family-style dining. Dishes are a little expensive, so would recommend focusing on entrées + then sides of rice, not their claypot rice bowls. What I Ordered: - Claypot Rice w/ Salted Chicken: ~75% rice + single layer of mostly bony chicken on top - Stir-Fried Rice Noodles w/ Pork (substituted): not too oily, good chew + protein quantity, pork belly not lean meat, not much wok hei - Shrimp Paste String Beans: very fermented + salty (personal preference mismatch), limp beans

This is located at the busy section of 86th street, only street parking if you drive there. It could be hard to find parking sometimes. The place looks pretty new and clean. Staff is very attentive. Service is good but expect to wait a bit for the clay pot rice cuz they make it when you order it. Food is decent. We ordered the clay pot with the chicken gizzard I believe. It doesn't come with white rice so you'll have to order that separately if you want rice. The flavor is good but the gizzard is very very chewy. I don't think I'll order it again. 6/10 Clay pot rice is good and has a nice crust. 8/10 The soup desert we ordered is a just soso. Just sweet but not much special. 5/10

Love claypot foods & this place did not disappoint. The menu had so much items to choose from. We ended up ordering to share: 1) salted egg yolk prawns clay pot, 2) black pepper beef cubes clay pot, 3) clay pot chicken w/ shiitake mushrooms and chestnuts, 4) cucumber salad. Their top 2 best sellers (salted egg yolk prawn & black pepper beef cubes clay pot) were super delicious. Those 2 were our most favorite. The corn in that salted egg yolk prawn claypot was the star. Too bad they didn't put that much corn in it. The shrimp was good but it was deep fried w/ the outer shell on. The black pepper beef cubes were so tender, juicy and well seasoned. I didn't care much for the vegetables and garlic in the claypot. The chicken w/ shiitake mushroom claypot was our least favorite. The chicken was ok & there wasn't that much shiitake mushroom or chestnut in it. The cucumber salad was also not our most favorite - it could be better. You have to order rice on the side because the claypots did not come w/ it. But the rice was amazing and very fragrant! We enjoyed eating it w/ the foods. Decor was very nice + modern. Staff were all very friendly, attentive and nice. We went during lunar new year week + did not know they were doing a raffle. By the end of the meal, the nice waiter brings a box of gashapon looking green balls + asked us to choose 1. I digged deep into the box & won a toshiba rice cooker! WOW! We were all amazed. My dad was very happy because I gave it to him. I would come back to try their other food items. Their top sellers were really delicious though.

I traveled all this way just to have Cantonese JuJu claypot dishes (Zhe Zhe). "JuJu" is a Cantonese onomatopoeia describing the sizzling and hissing sound when a piping-hot claypot is brought to the table. The JuJu Pork Intestine with Pickled Mustard Greens Claypot came with a generous amount of pickled greens, and the intestines were pre-pan-fried to render out the grease. The JuJu Mixed Pork Offal Claypot only included pork stomach and pork liver. The JuJu Fish Maw Claypot had a wonderfully bouncy, chewy texture that was incredibly addictive. On the other hand, the Spare ribs Claypot Rice was a bit pricey at $17.95 a pot! At least the daily soup was complimentary. All in all, dining at this place wasn't exactly value for money!

If you're looking for authentic Cantonese "zhe zhe" clay pot cuisine, this spot feels incredibly homey and they are light on the MSG. What we ordered: Frog Leg over Rice (4/5): A massive portion of rice! Great for sharing, though the meat-to-rice ratio is a a lot of rice and little rice Cauliflower (4.25/5): That "wok hei" smokiness was incredible. Good veggie dish Eggplant with Salted Fish (4.5/5): Our absolute favorite of the night. It was delicious, though we could have used a bit more of that bold salted fish flavor! Spare Ribs with Chinese Sausage (4/5): Classic flavors, but like the frog leg, it's a thinner layer of meat over a lot of rice. Pro-tip for next time: Order one "clay pot over rice" to share, then fill the table with their standalone clay pot dishes!

Ambiance - is pretty bright, spacious and clean. decent to comfortable for dining. many booths 4 - 6 ppl size and 1 medium size round table at the back. Service - all the server were very friendly and nice. somewhat attentive. Food - the dish options are unique, dont get to see in other Chinese restaurants, the tastes are pretty good. worth a try. Overall the menu price is overpriced since the portion are not big.

Finally came to try this place where all dishes are cooked in a claypot! We ordered 4 dishes and 2 of them were excellent (salted fish eggplant and stir fried water spinach). The salted egg chicken wings had a nice coating but the meat was kind of dried and the sweet and sour pork ribs, they must've forgotten the sour part because it wasn't sour at all. The restaurant had multiple 4-6 person booths lining both walls of the restaurant with a few 2 person tables in the middle and with 1 big round table at the end. Staff was attentive and nice. Will definitely come back to try other pots!

Zhe Zhe Pot was far for me but it was worth the trip. I love the cultural design art that was all around. It was not a long wait to get my food. The service there was great 10/10. The waiter helped me with what to order. They will start you off with complimentary tea and then some soup. I order the chicken clay pot. It was good and flavorful. My favorite was the rice noodles and it was very good. This place was great, great environment, great service, and great food.

Ever since Zhe Zhe Pot opened, my fam has been wanting to visit, and we finally did recently to celebrate a birthday. We went on a Sunday night and it was almost a full house. We ordered a mixture of dishes so we could try everything. - Pan-Fried Oyster Omelette: Decent oyster omelette - has a chewy but also crispy texture, and the omelette has shrimp and squid in it. It was a bit more eggy than I'd like, though. - Claypot Rice with Eel: Really good and flavorful! I love that they added sweet soy sauce to the rice because it really elevates the flavors. Highly recommend and will be back to order again. - Salted Fish Eggplant Clay Pot: Really good for a veggie dish. Not the healthiest because it's quite oily, but that's to be expected with eggplant and clay pots. The flavor was on point and is great with white rice. - Black Pepper Beef Cubes Clay Pot: The beef was surprisingly tender and had a nice black peppery taste. I'd order this again! - Clay Pot Chicken with Shiitake Mushrooms and Chestnuts: Not my favorite dish. It was a bit bland compared to the rest, and the chicken was very bony. The shiitake mushrooms were very meaty and juicy tho. - Cauliflower Clay Pot: Very small portion size, and we felt that it wasn't anything special or worth the price compared to the others. The cauliflower arrived barely cooked, but I think the clay pot cooked it over time, so you'd have to mix it around yourself before eating. For the price, I kind of wish they gave a bowl of rice with each clay pot dish instead of having to order on the side for $2 each. However, the complimentary coconut chicken soup they gave was really good! Very strong flavors for something free, which we didn't expect at all. Towards the end of our meal, the table behind us had a dish come out that smelled very fragrant. We asked the waitress what that was and it was the Black Bean Sauce Grass Carp Clay Pot. I'm looking forward to trying that dish next time, even though it'll be very bony!

Black Pepper Beef Cubes Clay Pot Must get; delicious and perfectly cooked

Everything came out hot, delicious, and well seasoned. The Dungeness crab was a standout, and it was refreshing to enjoy such a wide variety of seafood and traditional dishes. My wife was pleasantly surprised by the entire meal. The interior was nicely done and felt different from many other Chinese restaurants in Brooklyn. Service was attentive, and they seated us in a corner where we could enjoy our family conversation without constant interruption. The food came out very quickly, maybe a little too quickly, but we were fine with it. They were unfortunately out of a few fish and clam options, as well as several wines, but it did not take away from a great dinner. As a lover of Dim Sum, I start my weekend morning by making the long commute just to get a taste of everything. The spot is constantly bustling with people moving in and out of the restaurant, the waiters running around, the carts strolling to each table, etc. These days, cart services have been decreasing, but it's nice to see that some spots have still kept them around. My rotation always includes the following-har gow, deep-fried noodlefish, shrimp cheong fun (rice noodle roll), zhaliang (fried dough rice noodle roll), chicken feet, and beef tripe-and now more recently, salt and pepper squid. I'm not even joking when I say this, but my mouth was salivating when they placed everything in front of us. Everything was fresh and just so full of flavor. I randomly get reminded of the taste and suddenly crave it again. We also have to thank the wonderful expeditors who would make sure we got everything we wanted. When the salt and pepper squid had run out of the carts, they made sure to request more for our table and got us a fresh, hot, and steaming plate of it. Everything at dimsum might seem very hectic and quick, but when you're sitting down with your family and friends, it can really feel calming. They also give you a choice of tea; we love getting chrysanthemum to wash down the grease from the fried food. There's no wonder people make this a weekly routine; it's just got everything you could need.

This time, we took my in-laws, since we were in Brooklyn, and we don't get to have good dim sum in North Jersey. We came at 12:30 on a Saturday, and it was about a half hour wait. Parking is either street parking or valet, but it's a small lot, so there's usually a line of cars waiting for the valet. We ordered the usual suspects - ha gow, shumai, spare ribs, chicken feet, etc. But this time, my FIL noticed some sort of red rice roll stuffed with ground shrimp and youtiao, that we tried. It was really good, and I don't even normally like youtiao. But it was stuffed with flavorful ground shrimp, which I loved. We also ordered some mei fun, and ho fun with beef gravy. I'm not a huge fan of ho fun with gravy (I prefer the dry stir-fried version), but it came with lots of beef. The portions were also huge, which is another reason my parents like this place because there's always leftovers for the next day. This is definitely our go-to dim sum spot in Brooklyn. I would just come earlier if you don't want to wait.

I got steamed egg, sweet and sour chicken, cauliflower and ong choy. They have seating in the back if you would like to sit their and eat. You do have to order before you can sit in the back though. The staff is nice, they can answer any questions you have for them.

Our server was friendly and kept the hot green tea coming throughout the meal, which was a nice touch. We started with the pan-fried taro, and it was a great appetizer. For our entrées, we ordered the Yellow Eel Rice Pot, the BBQ Combo with Pork and Duck, and the Black Bean Stir-Fried Clams, which came with a choice of a rice roll. The portions were much larger than we expected, and everything was delicious. We would definitely order all of these dishes again. Overall, we really enjoyed our meal and will be back to try more items on the menu. If you're in the area, I definitely recommend checking out King's Kitchen!

Tried Char Sui, Half Chicken, Duck and roasted pork belly. All of these meats are very delicious and at times char Sui is sold out. Especially if it's later in the day. Also tried a beef fried rice dish which was brown rice. To me it seemed a little too oily for my taste. I especially love the wonton noodle soup with Ho noodles. Order in advance if you are picking up. The soup can take at least 10 to 15 minutes to prepare. They do have veggie stir, rice flour rolls and a lot more items that I will trying in the future. I don't speak Chinese and cashiers don't speak English much. But have adapted to picking out order on app. And take a screen shot so I can show cashier when ordering. Items are written in chinese and English. Also if you pay in cash no tax. They do accept credit, debit and other electronic payments. Service always friendly. This location has a number of tables with waiter service.

This second go around was a celebration dinner with my brother so we ordered quite a bit to share. For starters we had their crab rangoon, wontons in chili oil, and salt pepper wings. The rangoons were perfectly crisp but the filling just didn't impress me all too much. I love a good smack of green onion & crab, this one lacked both. Definitely not my favorite rangoons and only 3??? Hmm. The wontons were sublime though. They were nice and plump with a nice punch from the chili oil they bathe in. The chicken wings were pretty standard, I kinda wish there was more pepper on it. It was nice and salty but severely lacked pepper for being a pepper oriented dish. As for the General Tsos? YUM. This was great. The ratio of batter to chicken wasn't bad and it had such a great crisp. The actual General Tso sauce was perfect as well, I could not stop picking at this. The Shrimp Lo Mein was also fantastic, very smoky which I'm a sucker for. The shrimps were perfectly cooked as well and the noodles..... bouncy umami goodness. Delicious food, decent prices, great service I should add. In Chinatown, you learn that hospitality is entirely optional. Here though, they are welcoming and communicate very well with you. Our waiter and the hosts were especially lovely on this night. For next time, I'd pass on the crab rangoons and go for their crispy garlic chicken over the salt pepper wings. There will definitely be a next time though!

The service was great and our server was so sweet! We each ordered one of the specialty NA drinks, which were absolutely delicious and so refreshing. For dinner, we ordered the Chinese long beans, walnut shrimp and rice noodles. The shrimp and long beans were both of our favorites as the rice rolls were a little too salty for our liking. For dessert, we ordered the sundae and it was plenty to split between two people and very yummy. I'd definitely come here again!

Even though I'm not cilantro's biggest fan, it was such a refreshing drink that was both savory and sweet. We then got started with the long beans, which were rich and savory, with a creamy garlic and shallot sauce. They were cooked quite well, but I felt like the you tiao was too hard to chew and a bit overfried. We then got the porridge and cold chicken dishes. Loved both! We finished with the bkrib sandwich, which was probably my favorite for the portion size, and delicious ketchup with the shoestring fries. What we ordered was perfect for a party of 3, and a good mix of refreshing and also rich dishes.
