TRIGGER WARNING (DON'T LOOK AT OLD REVIEWS. NEW ACTUAL GREAT HONEST MECHANIC HERE)…read more The registration and smog is due on my 2004 Mazda next week (i know it's old but with minivan prices today, i know what i have and don't want to give it up that easily), but with the check engine light BLINKING+ other problems I knew no way I would get smog passed. I called around a few places (some others I found on yelp with promising reviews), but they were booked until the next week, and registration being due in a few days, I decided to drive down Elk Grove Blvd a little bit more and I saw the Complete Performance sign nestled next to a gas station in Old Town Elk Grove. I parked and who would be Ben came out right away and asked me how he could help. I told him everything wrong (flashing check engine light, rough idling, jerky transmission, oil burning smell). He walked me into the office, took my info and said he's get on it RIGHT AWAY! I wasn't sold yet and was thinking about just getting his diagnosis then moving on and trying again with another mechanic, but once I gave him the keys (and getting ready to call an uber to get back home about a mile away) , he said "do you need a ride home?" That's when I was like okay, wow I'm going with this guy, he does have some hospitality and availability. Quite the rarity! He called me a few hours later and mentioned I had bad spark plugs and a bad intake boot (and one other thing I don't remember). I remember seeing his labor rate on the wall in the office and I even ended up calling around and was relieved that his rate was the market rate (California is generally just high with this). Also, He would be DONE by end of business tomorrow (a 1 day turnaround was music to my ears right now!) which means I could get this registered and passed for smog before the registration expires. After initial estimate, I was worried, not because I thought it was high (because I knew the other labor rates in the area would cost me the same for labor+parts), but because the car was so old. I wanted to give up on this car and just file for planned non operation. He stopped, listened and worked out a deal with me that would include a guaranteed smog pass after repairs were made + a warranty so I would be covered for these issues in the future. I said okay and made the deal with him. He identified another issue with my fuel injector later on and called me The irony is that I didn't even see the bad reviews on here which were from years ago by an older mechanic. There was no way that these could be about Ben, who's the new guy in town here) and sure enough, that is the exact case. Ben is unfortunately having to work against 4+ year old reviews about some other guy named Bobby and that's not fair. I'm here to set the record straight and give the 5 stars he truly deserves. Thank you for everything Ben, I now have a couple more years at least before I need to buy a new $50,000+ minivan for my family.

This truly was a family affair, and the entire team made us feel welcome from the moment we walked through the doors. Our sales consultant, Manny Brown, was absolutely top-notch! He was knowledgeable, patient, never pushy, and took the time to answer every question we had. He made the entire process enjoyable and stress-free. A special thank you also goes to Chris Morri in Finance and Brennan Parsons, Sales Manager. Both were outstanding to work with--professional, respectful, transparent, and genuinely focused on making sure we were comfortable every step of the way. We never felt pressured, and they worked hard to make the deal fair and straightforward. I'll admit, I never imagined I would own a Kia. But after researching the Telluride and working with this incredible team, the decision became an easy one. Their honesty, patience, and customer-first approach made all the difference, and we drove home in a beautiful SUV that we absolutely love. If you're considering a new vehicle, I highly recommend Elk Grove Kia. Their customer service is exceptional, and the team truly cares about providing a first-class buying experience. Thank you, Manny, Chris, and Brennan, for making this such a positive and memorable experience. Five stars all the way!

This was my first time bringing my Kia Carnival Hybrid to Elk Grove Kia for a recall repair, and I…read morehonestly expected a much better customer service experience. From the moment we drove into the service bay, no one acknowledged or greeted us. We had no idea where to go or what the check-in process was until I had to ask an employee if we needed to go inside. Once inside, we still weren't greeted or made to feel welcome. The biggest disappointment was the shuttle service. We were told the repair would take about three hours and were promised a shuttle ride home. We were asked to wait about 10 minutes, but those 10 minutes turned into an hour, and eventually two hours before the shuttle finally arrived. During that entire time, there were no updates, no explanation, and no communication about the delay. After we had been waiting for quite some time, Haley came over and sincerely apologized for the shuttle delay. I truly appreciated that. When my vehicle was finished, Haley was professional, courteous, and took the time to have a pleasant conversation while closing out the service. She was easily the bright spot of our entire visit. Unfortunately, the experience went downhill again immediately afterward. I was told my vehicle would be pulled up in front of the sales department, so I waited there. After waiting for a while, I saw a salesperson walking by and politely asked if he could help me locate my vehicle. His response completely shocked me. He said, "I don't know! So what do you want me to do?" His tone was rude, dismissive, and completely lacking in professionalism or basic customer service. As a first-time customer, that is not how anyone should be treated. Thankfully, another salesperson walked by shortly afterward, greeted me, asked how I was doing, listened to what had happened, and immediately helped me locate Haley and my vehicle. That interaction showed that not every employee at this dealership treats customers the same way. What is most disappointing is the inconsistency. Haley and the second salesperson demonstrated exactly what good customer service looks like, while others made us feel like we were an inconvenience simply for asking for help. Your service department is often the reason customers decide where they'll continue servicing their vehicles after making such a significant purchase. First impressions matter, and unfortunately, ours was overwhelmingly negative. Delays can happen, but poor communication, a lack of acknowledgment, and rude treatment should never be acceptable. I sincerely hope management addresses these customer service issues because no first-time customer should leave feeling this unwelcome. While I appreciate Haley for her professionalism and kindness, this overall experience has made me seriously question whether I would ever return to Elk Grove Kia for future service.

UPDATE: I sent the picture of the "tar" oil to the owner and to his credit he responded quickly and…read moreapologized. He said that it was indeed obvious that the oil wasn't changed, and acknowledged this was a "miss" by his mechanic. I appreciated this bc at the time I was contending that the oil hadn't been changed, I felt like the "bad guy" when his mechanic was telling us that he had changed it. So I appreciated the call. In any case, this could have been a real problem for me had I not done my own checking and changed the oil myself, and no doubt I would have just been out-of-luck with no recourse. So even if not attributable to malice in this case, stuff can fall through the cracks and I recommend that you do your own thorough due diligence and not necessarily just take everything that is said at face value. ORIGINAL: Be careful and you should buy here only if you know cars or if you have a good mechanic. I came here only because they happened to have a rare model that I was looking for. The owner represented that they had changed the oil after I expressly asked. I honestly didn't care if they did or not, I just wanted to know so I would know to do it. After a cursory check after some driving, it was obvious from the dipstick that the "mechanic" had not. I went back to the dealership to get them to do it. When I returned, the owner swore up and down that his "mechanic" changed the oil, and that he didn't want to ask him to change it again bc then he'd be "calling his mechanic a liar." I said I couldn't speak to whether the "mechanic" was a liar or not, but see can see from the photo what eventually came out when I changed it. So yea, man, your "mechanic" is indeed, a liar. The owner then offered to reimburse me if I went to go change it at Midas nearby. Not trusting a "quickie oil change" place either I asked instead if the owner would just pay me the cost of the oil and filter and I'd do it myself. So buyer beware. They have a decent selection of interesting cars, but you should assume, regardless of what they tell you, that they did not do any maintenance to the car. Unless you are physically watching them as they do it, and even then I'm not sure I would trust them. You will either have to check everything yourself, or take it to your trusted mechanic. The one thing that is good, is that the salespeople seemed like decent enough people, but definitely are not thorough or take proper care in what they are doing. For 90% of buyers who don't know anything about cars they can probably get away with their behavior. But I'd recommend that you only buy here if if you really know your cars and know exactly what to check.

Everyone was super kind, professional, and helpful during a very stressful situation. David was awesome, safe driver, courteous, great conversation, and clearly knew what he was doing. I have a Tesla Model S which sits very low to the ground, and their flatbed tow truck had a breakaway setup specifically for low profile cars so there was no risk of scraping or ripping off the bumper.
