I had a great experience as a customer at Brian's Automotive. I called a week in advance to inquire about my timing belt and water pump replacement. Moses gave me a reasonable quote and the best time to come in. I called the next day to let them know when I am dropping off my car. I was helped by Brian and I was able to get my car early the next day! Moses made sure to call me when he found additional problems that could be resolved while they were working on my car. I just thought that was honest and helpful since a lot of other mechanics would just ignore it or not inform customers. My car broke down on the road and I knew it was something possibly serious as it wouldn't turn over and yet it wasn't the battery . I needed a place locally to bring it to that would hopefully be honest and also look at it fairly quickly Brian's automotive was recommended to me by the local Les Schwab store and they said this guy always had good business and he had a very good nature I called Brian and he took the car and immediately so I had it towed there. He looked at it the same day and unfortunately, my whole engine was ruined. Thanks to some defective thing that didn't let the oil flow correctly even though my oil was in good shape. He gave me the advice to call the dealer and see if there was any warranty that might cover it. There was not anything but I did find out. This was a common problem with this brand of cars at the mileage that it was at. Brian said he could fix it for less than the dealer, but I had to donate the car away instead because the cost was so expensive. It was probably a better investment to buy a new car. I paid Brian a small fee for his inspection and diagnosis and he watched the car for two days until the tow truck came to take it away My overall experience with Brian's automotive was very good and Brian is a very nice man to work with. Took my vehicle in for its annual oil change. So easy, scheduled an appointment just like last year. Brian & his crew were ready, just like last year. I was advised of a couple filters that were in need of replacing & quoted a price, just like last year. I was shown the filters- so there was no doubt about the need, just like last year. I called Brian's automotive a couple of days ago, as I was looking for a reliable and trustworthy mechanic to do an AC recharge on my 2019 Jeep Cherokee. Brian and Moises were very accommodating to my needs, as I live in Galt but work in Sacramento, none the less they worked with me to have my Jeep dropped off at their shop before they open, and willing to let me pick up my car after hours. Brian quoted me a good price to do the AC recharge as I was quoted very high at other places, due to my vehicle taking an expensive freon. The day of the recharge when I called, they seem to be busy, but Moises was good on calling me back within less than 10-15 minutes. He explained to me that the issue was not that my car needed an AC recharge but in fact that, a previous mechanic who previously worked on my car forgot to connect the AC compressor back, they only charged me for the labor, which I find fair as they did a full inspection and were honest on their pricing. I was super relived that these guys were honest and trustworthy mechanics. If in the future I need any other services I know where to take my vehicle(s). My daughter has a 2003 Mitsubishi Eclipse GT that's burning oil. The procedure to test for what could be causing the oil to burn is extensive in labor. Once the problem is best assessed, the cost for repair can be great...and may incur further issues later due to the nature of the issue on the lower part of the engine. Brian explained it all very clearly and the costs involved. We were looking at a sizable bill and maybe a month without the car. Brian literally told us, "I can do all the work and take your money but it may just not be worth it in the long run." What kind of a mechanic turns down a good payday? An honest one. I "attempted" to take my 94 Firehawk to this shop because it was referred to me by the shop where I had gone to for over 15 years. I called Brian's automotive and spoke to moises trying to set up a time to bring in my Firehawk for some maintenance repairs. He immediately said he'd have to talk to Brian and I'd get a call back as soon as possible. I waited for 4 days and never received a call back so I drove back there and again spoke to Moises and he again said the same thing. I still never heard back and ended up taking my Firehawk to Lodi Transmission where Ron took care of my vehicle quickly and was upfront and honest. Apparently Brian didn't want my business at all which was very disaappointing but I'm just glad my repairs were taken care of. read more

I called Brian's automotive after a friend had suggested them and reviewing them on Yelp. I was not disappointed, not only were they friendly and able to get my vehicle in quickly but they were professional and honest. I needed my brake pads changed and an oil change but didn't want to replace both front and back brake pads unless it was necessary. They understood finances were tight and let me know only my back pads needed to be changed and that my front pads still had 35-40% before they needed to be changed. It saved me about $200 which was much appreciated. I would highly recommend Brian's Automotive and I'm so glad they are located in Galt! read more

After having problems with my car overheating and having replaced thermostat, radiator, coolant temp sensor with brand new parts myself, I came across Brian's shop and figured my water pump was at fault, seeing how many good reviews his shop had, I went and got him to replace the pump. After he said having "tested" the car for a while that the problem was fixed. After picking up the car and driving it for several days, I noticed the temperature was not coming up to normal operating range and also, my heater was not pumping any heat. I thought I'd check my thermostat again and as you can see, the brand new thermostat i put in was jammed open!! I'm not trying to set this guy up, I want my car fixed and if they would have told me they couldn't do it, I would have been a lot happier looking somewhere else and not posting this. He was able to locate a pinched vacuum line that controlled the A/C vents and correct the problem even though I didn't bring the vehicle in for that problem. Recently the air conditioning in my car gave up. And mid-July in this valley is not the time to be without AC. Not having previous experience with any of the mechanics around our little town I really hated the idea of "just dropping it off somewhere". A friend suggested I take it to Brian's Automotive. I'm so glad they did; now I have a mechanic I can turn my car over to and not worry about it. Brian spent about an hour with my car (immediately!) and gave me the news. The problem was one of two things. He could replace them one at a time which could be cheaper but might take longer. Or, he could replace the whole system for just a bit more and be assured of fixing the problem plus I would get a system warranty rather than just a parts warranty. Gave him the go ahead and he had the job finished more quickly than he thought and for less than he quoted. (Charged me actual labor hours not "book hours") Now when I drive my teeth chatter it's so cold ;-). He also checked out a battery light on the dash that kept coming on for no reason (solved - no charge). Brian is there to make a living and wants you to come back. He also wants you to tell your friends and family. If he treats you right you'll do just that and he'll stay in business. Smart man. Let's keep an "Excellent" local business, in business. My vehicle broke down on highway 99 on Tuesday afternoon, and I was able to exit at Galt just a few miles from Sacramento where I was intended to travel, not knowing what I would encounter in a small city as Galt. I read a few Yelp reviews, and this place has 5 stars. In my opinion this place deserves MORE than 5 stars. My vehicle got towed-in after closing, and fortunately, Brian, the owner, was still there and was able to attend to me, by taking my vehicle. Despite of being booked over one week in the future, he was able to accommodate me and resolve my transmission issue. He diagnosed the vehicle and mentioned there was a problem with the transmission. He did a transmission fluid flush, and test drove the vehicle for over 7 miles. He was very honest and diagnosed the vehicle well. I was able to drive back from Galt to San Jose with no issues what so ever. I am extremely pleased with the work he did on my Acura, considering he was booked over one week ahead. Very happy with his professionalism. The price was just right...not too pricy but well within the competitive price range. He even showed me the bad transmission fluid and picture of the plug that had metal debris. I hope my vehicle never breaks down again on this route and at the same location, but if did, I would definatiley come back here. The place is very clean. New to the area, and I am trying out some local businesses, looking for my "regular" shops. Gave Brian's a try for both some long-overdue known repair issues and one case of (what must be any body shop's worst nightmare: ) "a weird sound". Well, Brian and family found it, fixed everything, and on-time, and even called me to warn me / get my approval for a ridiculously-overpriced Nissan part that couldn't be substituted. I'm happy with the work, and when after the work I noticed/heard a little rattling coming from my hood (the latch has always been a little loose), Brian had me come right over. I was quoted $1,000 at another place for something, and I called Brian and he wanted $300+. Not only was it inexpensive, he was fast and professional. Oh my gosh, Brian was the nicest and most professional guy, he made me feel very comfortable in what is usually a mans environment. Brian is awesome, he does great work at a fair price and is very honest. He is one of those rare mechanics who won't recommend repairs you don't actually need, and I trust him completely to work on any of my vehicles. This is one of those businesses you always hope to find and always go back to - my only critique is that he's so good, he's always busy and you really need to book appointments more than a week out if you can. That said, I had my broken truck towed to his shop on a Sunday one time and he had it fixed by Wednesday (with no prior notice) so he will accommodate emergencies if it's possible. read more

If you live in Galt. This is where you need to take your business for your automotive needs. Brian is a great guy. It is extremely difficult to find a mechanic you can trust. I have a 2006 Dodge Charger which I recently surpassed the 100,000 mile mark! Booyah! So why is Brian such a great guy? Let me tell you. The dreaded 'Check Engine' Light came on in my car on a Friday after work. If you've ever, ever, ever had a check engine light come on, we all know what that means. The bank is about to get broke! I drove up to Elk Grove Dodge early. They didn't open until 730 but I was sure to get there early to be the first. I was there close to 7AM. The workers begin arriving around 655-7AM, they are outside having a smoke, making coffee I walk up thinking we were in business, they point at the sign stating they don't open 'til 730, fine, I can wait. Meanwhile, people are lining up behind me, to the side of me also trying to get in early. Around 720 the guy decided he will begin taking in customers, so he walks to the car directly BEHIND me and asks them to come in so he can help them! WTF? Ok that's fine. I'm next in line anyhow. When I finally get to the desk, first thing I ask if I will be able to be driven to work or if they offer rental car service cause I work in Lodi. The impression I got was that I was practically pulling this guys teeth out with no anesthetic! Brother... Oh yea, it was going to be $120, just for them to 'look' at the car. Geez. I was already a bit flusteredI made an executive decision. I told them I would be taking my business elsewhere and thanked them for their time. I thought of Brian cause he actually changed my brakes out in my car, excellent job. I just didn't know if he did engine light stuff, he does! Anyhow, bottom line he checked out the engine light, found out the last place I had my oil changed left my cap for the Radiator halfway screwed on which was causing my coolant to leak out leaving my reservoir near empty!!! This could have been a disaster (I will follow-up with a review with the oil change guys, but I will still give them one more chance) Hmph! Brian only charged me $16, what it cost to fill the reservoir with coolant!! Bless his heart. If he is capable of doing it, I will only be doing my automotive business here. read more

Finally an honest mechanic who cares about his work and customer service. I took my truck there to fix another mechanics crappy job on my clutch and Brian and his crew diagnosed and completed the work within 30 minutes while I waited. I was impressed so I made an appointment for my other vehicle that had a nasty oil leak. Again, diagnosed and returned way faster than I figured. Took my truck back in for a tuneup and unbeknownst to me it was already completed by the last owner (recently purchased). Brian called me and let me know that they don't have to complete the tuneup but will work on some other issues I have been having. He could've easily done the tuneup even though it didn't need it and taken my money, but his honesty and great work speak for themselves. I'm so happy I have finally found a trustworthy mechanic. He had 100% earned my business and I will take all of my vehicles to Brian's anytime work needs to be completed. read more

This review is long overdue. I went to Brian's Automotive about a month ago for brake repairs and an oil change. I found Brian to be very polite, professional, and friendly. There was a young lady working there, but I didn't catch her name. She was equally as friendly and professional. Anyhow, Brian's prices are VERY reasonable and he didn't try to sell me anything I didn't need or want. He completed the work in the time frame that he promised, which was pretty fast considering that he squeezed me in without an appointment!
