We came here on a Tuesday at like 12:30. I hadn't been to this location but my fiancé said it's a good lunch spot. And he had to get pick up for a coworker. The parking is a super huge lot in the same lot as the Pizza Hut in Fitchburg. I had a wide variety of spaces to choose from. Which was great. Since I can't park... lol The seating was super quick, right at the front desk and we had tons of options of spacious booths and tables. The space between the booths were a good size too. For food, I had so many options since we came during the lunch hour! It was crazy. Never have I made it for a lunch hour. But I had a taco, enchilada lunch. It was under $10. Which was an insane deal! The food taste wise, was a tad bland. But the service was great, food was out in maybe 10 minutes. We were out of there in like 20 minutes all together. And the food came out hot. This place might not have the most seasoned or tender meat. But they deliver classic and safe dishes you can doubt on being good. I would gladly stop here again, especially during lunch. I know my fiancé comes here often... with out me. Which is fine. It's fine. read more

Stopped in with the guys for a quick, late lunch. The service was good and the food was what we expected. Ordering off the lunch menu, we got the lunch portions, which was fine. I think, at the time, I could have eaten more, but this was better for me. Love the salsa - a bit of a roasty flavor to it versus the very tomato-based plainness that other places will serve. The chips left more to be desired - not especially fresh, but they served to get the salsa where it needed to go. The location is nice if you have things going on in the area. read more

This place was a gamble. We were in the mood for Mexican but not familiar with the area. We walked in around 2:30 (not peak time for lunch or dinner) and no one else was in the restaurant, not necessarily a good sign. The restaurant was clean and decorated nicely. To our pleasant surprise this place was very satisfying. The waiter immediately brought us chips and dip and waters. The chips were warm and crispy and the salsa tasted very fresh. We also got a cup of queso, it was basic, nothing amazing. The serving sizes were huge! The kids plates were the size of a regular entrees. The food came out quickly and everything tasted fresh and flavorful. Everyone in the family was satisfied and agreed that we would comeback. read more

I stopped in Laredo's on a Sunday afternoon because I was in the neighborhood with some time to kill, a computer that needed charging, and an appetite, and it was a good call on all respects. Because Laredo's had three Madison locations, I had dismissed it as a chain and had low expectations until I had a look at their menu. In addition to the standard offerings of tacos, burritos, and quesadillas, Laredo's serves a variety of soups and specialties features steak, chicken, and seafood. I decided on their Veracuz Plate, featuring grilled shrimp, green onions, tomatoes, mushrooms, and spinach, along with rice, frijoles (refried beans), and flour tortillas. Service was friendly and prompt, and I enjoyed the complimentary chips and salsa along with a traditional margarita while I waited for my order, which turned out to be a steaming-hot and delicious platter that was enough food for at least two meals. There were plenty of perfectly grilled and seasoned shrimp and vegetables, which too often get short-shrift in this country's meat-and-starch culinary zeitgeist. I told the server that I wanted to go to Veracruz, track down, and personally thank whoever came up with the dish because it was really that good. While the frijoles and rice weren't the stars of the show, they were excellent and made for appealing comfort food on a wintry January afternoon. I meticulously boxed up everything left after I had eaten my fill, and brought it all home, grateful that I had enough left for another hearty meal the next day, and to have acquired a new addition to my Spanish vocabulary courtesy of my server: "cargador de computadora." Compared to other mex joints in the area, it's a bit pricey. Other than a very outgoing gentleman that works in the bar area, we've never experienced prompt service here. Food is average, at best. A strong three. I've had my ups and downs with Laredo's on the whole, but this location had no major complaints. We came in for a super late lunch/extra early dinner on a Saturday and the place was pretty dead. We were seated in a booth under the roof/awning which was fun and more than enough space for the two of us. Our orders were taken quickly, chips and salsa were delivered, and our food came out fresh and hot. I got a chicken chimichanga that came with a good amount of "salad", sour cream, and guac. The plate is served with cheese-topped refried beans. There's a good amount of food, but it's not as gut-busting as many Mexican restaurants. I also love rice, so I'd be more into the plate if it also included rice like most places. After our food was dropped off service stalled; we were the only people in the dining room and while I don't think we were quite forgotten about, we also weren't checked on. We were finally able to get our check and head out. It's not my favorite Mexican restaurant in town, but I'd go back if it were convenient. For the price point and overall enjoyment, though, there are a few places that come in higher on the list. read more

This is my second try at Laredo's, and I'll admit that it is better than the first. My first time also happened to be my first mexican restaurant in Wisconsin, period. I had high expectations coming from Kansas, the land of the mexican restaurants, and I was let down. Upon having tried probably 10 mexican restaurants in the Madison area, I guess this one isn't so bad afterall. It is your run of the mill mexican food. I'd say this warrants 3 stars. Spend the extra 2 bucks for a soda here. This is one of those places where the water tastes like it came out of a tin can. This place is pretty empty both times I've been, and the food comes super fast. (I get easy bean burritos though) They have good service overall. I guess I'll be back in the future. Sigh read more

Mine came with rice and refried beans and about 2 cups of sauce poured over the top. Both the rice and beans were flavorless as was the sauce. It was basically plain tomato sauce. No flavor in any of it. Jeez guys ever heard of cumin, oregano, onions or chili powder? The wife's dish was dry as heck with a mystery cheese. Also she ordered the standard plate as is, and an extra charge was made for guacamole. She also ordered a medium margarita and was charged for a large. I noted that other reviewers have mentioned these "add ones". Very sketchy place. I won't be back. read more

A dinning experience is supposed to be fun; it's supposed to be relaxing; and, it is supposed to be an escape from the stressors of life. Unfortunately, I don't think Laredo's knows how to do any of those three things. Our food came out literally five minutes after being ordered. It came out before our drinks arrived. Our server never checked on us after delivering our drinks. After poking at our food for 10 minutes and deciding it wasn't worth eating, I had to go track down our waiter and pay our bill. Food is bland and an Americanized version of Mexican food. Service is below average. Ambiance is lacking. Just don't go. read more

We tried Laredo's for supper last night. We arrived a little after 6:00 pm. There were a few full tables but it was mostly empty. Tile floors, wooden tables and benches, lots of color, it looks like a fairly standard Mexican restaurant. The hostess seated us and gave us menus and our waiter was over shortly with chips and salsa. We were in a hurry, (although we didn't state that) and so while he was there we ordered our dinners at the same time we ordered our drinks. The chips were excellent -- hearty and crunchy. The salsa, what there was of it, was also very good. We were out of salsa long before we were out of chips. There was no offer to refill the salsa. I'd say it was less than ten minutes before our food arrived. I had ordered combination #11 which was a burrito, an enchilada, and a taco. I don't know why I expected rice and beans, they were not included. It was all OK, but not much better than Taco Bell. My partner ordered the Tamales with shredded pork. This came with rice and beans and the tamales were great. The pork on top was chunky and dripping with flavorful fat. The tamales were also stuffed with shredded pork and had just the right ratio of meat vs masa. The beans were creamy and the rice fluffy. We were halfway through our meal when the drinks arrived. The large house margarita is truly large and probably enough (volume) for two people to drink. However, it is not very strong and was not very remarkable. What was remarkable was the speed of the food delivery and the tamales. Everything else was mediocre at best. read more

Consistently delicious. Very fast and friendly service. Definitely our go-to place for comfort food. Great shaded outdoor seating too! We've been going here for years. My husband always get the Rio Bravo burrito and inhales the entire huge thing. I either get the fajitas or the chicken chimichangas (no red sauce, extra guacamole) which are both incredible but I've tried many other things and haven't been disappointed. Will not be returning. This place Nickel and Dimes you for everything. Dishes come without rice on the side, salsa was 1.50 extra. They short you on tortillas and charge you $2 for extras. We shared a lunch fajita plate, which was $13 and our bill came to $26 for "extras" that every other Mexican place provides. The inside is loud, not clean, seating reminds you of a cafeteria. I used to work near by to this particular Laredos, so I visited often. We would order for pick-up for lunch often, have an after-work cocktail every now and then, and occasionally gather larger groups of coworkers together here to celebrate a promotion, say farewell, or congratulate a retirement, etc. Now the food is pretty typical American-Mexican. If you're looking for super authentic, this is not your place. But if you're looking something quick and easy and yummy, this is a win. I have eaten a lot of Laredo's meals over the years and there's not a single time I can recall having ever been upset, unsatisfied, or disappointed. Likewise, I cannot think of a single time that really made me say WOW either. They typically have lunch specials everyday which is really nice. They are really fast, too, during the lunch period. I have experienced slower-than-expected service during dinner visits, but at lunch they really seem to have it figured out. Perfect for those of us who don't have a long lunch break from work but still want something hot and delicious. The bartenders have always been awesome when I have been in. They mix up delicious specialty cocktails and are fun to chat with. They put up with my rowdy work crew with smiles on their faces even when I know we are being loud/needy :) read more

I can't believe they don't have the ability to sell a simpler taco, I stopped by to get 3 plain tacos and server told me that can only sell as a plate, so even do I didn't want any sides, he still charged me 15.00 for 3 simple stake tacos, something that you find everywhere else for 2 or 3 dollars per taco. This has to be one of the most awful places I've ever patronized. After getting my takeout order wrong they had the audacity to tell me to take a picture of it and come back to the restaurant tomorrow to talk to the manager. Excuse me? So when I got upset at the gaul and brought the lack luster mediocre step above taco bell food back the employee that waited on me got upset and refused to refund my money. Mindful the food was completely intact unopened. I asked to have utter replaced since I can't have a refund. First time (and probably the last) eating here. Ordered carry out. Waited nearly 10 min for someone to acknowledge me when I walked in. There were only about 6 other people in the restaurant, so not like it was busy. Took another 10 min to get my order, after first being given someone else's order. The nachos were supposed to have ground beef, cheese sauce, guacamole & sour cream. No ground beef and the guacamole had pieces of the peel in it. The cheese was more like coagulated clumps. The soft shell chicken tacos were so greasy it was running out of the ends of the tortilla and the tortillas were soaked in grease. We've been coming here for a few years since it's close to our home. The food has always been decent, but I have to say at our last visit it seemed that they really stepped up their game. My husband had the pork tacos with fried jalapeños on the side that he really enjoyed. I had the combo with a burrito, an enchilada, and a tamale. It was really good and no mistakes as I ordered the enchilada with chicken ( delicious quality) and burrito with beef and a side of rice and beans. We shared a half pitcher of margarita they had on special. Their kids menu was great for our picky kid who really wanted Mac and cheese. Nope-not authentic, pre-prepared, the chips are way too greasy and flavorless, and every entree tastes the same as every other entree. I went there with a party of five.l tasted everyone's entree. Tasted like we were all eating the same thing. I have not had authentic Mexican anywhere in Madison. I have often stopped at Laredo's for dinner sometimes on a Friday or Saturday night right before I go to the movies, and I must say, this place is absolutely amazing. And their food is amazing too, and the food is usually ready pretty fast once I order what I want from the menu. Also, one of the waiters that works at Laredo's recognizes me when I come in and knows who I am. And he even remembers what I like to order for a drink. I enjoy going to Laredo's and greeting the waiters there in Spanish. If you're looking for a great Mexican restaurant to go to, I highly recommend Laredo's. read more

This is the first time I've been to a Laredo's in quite some time and my first visit to this Laredo's location. Unfortunately, it confirmed my general feeling that the quality of the food at these restaurants has declined in recent years. The first impression arrived in the form of brown, overcooked tortilla chips. I ate two. Next, I was in the mood for a lighter lunch, so I ordered the tortilla soup. The dish arrived topped with oily tortilla strips and big, dense chunks of cheese that reminded me of paneer and really did nothing to enhance the dish. After a cursory taste, I removed the toppings. The broth was okay but not great, and the vegetables were overcooked. My dining partners were similarly unimpressed. This is sad, because Laredo's was my favorite Mexican place when I first moved to Madison. The last several visits have netted sub-par food. Not to mention that I live in DeFo now, and Aranda's is just around the corner. (If you want really good Mexican food at a friendly, family-owned place, I'd suggest going there.) read more

I love me some Laredo's. First, the bad: the chips and salsa are pretty disappointing. They look amazing and smell so good, but just aren't that great. The tacos are solid, all of them. Really well done and not too complex But, here's what is amazing-the Farmer's Quesadilla and the Tortitas. The Tortitas are barbecued meat and queso fresca on beautiful pretzel buns. Amazingly delicious. So good. The Farmer's Quesadilla is spinach, black beans, corn, (maybe onions), and cheese. It's served with guac, sour cream, and queso. Below average Mexican fare. I ordered the beef chimichanga and beef taco, but they gave me chicken instead. The taco was not very good and the chimichanga was rather bland. Since moving here from Nashville in May of '18 we've been looking for a go to Mexican place. This might be it. Better chips, not greasy with a flavor to the corn I don't find often. Same for the tamale. Might be the best tamale I've had. Great enchilada. My wife loved her quesadilla. The beans and rice were fine.. Tableside guacamole. Pitcher of margaritas said $25 but was $19.95 on the bill so maybe a special . Anyway they were tasty and had more tequila than most places. We are ready to go try other things on the menu. 5 stars for me means they did what they were trying to do. read more

I love coming to this particular location because of their table side guacamole. They come over to your table and make the guac your way in front of you. Delicious. The food at Laredo's is good "American" Mexican food. If you are looking for authentic this is not the place. However, that does not mean the food is not delicious.
