The food items they offer are interesting. A modern interpretations of traditional Mexican and Latin culinary delights. What they offer is a really a unique blend of the modern, combined with the old school. Meaning, what you can order will be flavorful, made with great ingredients, and a fun presentation. In terms of drinks, they have a nice selection of beers, some wine, and they also do offer cocktails. So, for those who wan to enjoy a tasty margarita, or something like that, they're happy to make it up on the spot for you. This restaurant is attached to a large parking lot, so you'll never have a problem finding a parking spot. The staff here all seem really nice and are very helpful. I discovered this restaurant when planning to try another restaurant nearby, but not finding the other restaurant appealing from the outside. This restaurant is located in a strip mall. Day of the Dead decorations in the front. Walking in, I found the restaurant inviting. Very bright colors, a bar, and booth seating available. There is ample seating. I sat in a booth by the bar. The waiter was friendly and efficient. That's important. He brought out complimentary tortilla chips and salsa. The chips were a little salty, but the salsa was good and chunky. I ordered a strawberry margarita. It was pretty good. Sweet, with a lime wedge and sugar on the lip of the glass. I ordered a power bowl for my main dish, no protein. The new bar is fun focal point for the restaurant. The food is just as incredible as the new look. The warm chips are perfectly crisp, paired with salsa that bursts with fresh, homemade flavor. Man, I have to split this review and fore warning, this is for a Togo order but still... The ordering online is easy and friendly to use and the prices are average. That being said, do NOT get any of the starters as they are seriously sub par. The queso dip was grainy and cold with more of a like cornmeal flavor than cheese. The salsa was mostly water. Like an extra watery pico de gallo. The rice and beans that came with the meal were super mid. But all that being said. The entrees were lit. The interior is nicely decorated and fairly clean inside. It can be pretty dim in some parts of the restaurant. Our server was nice and friendly. You get complimentary chips and salsa - the chips were thick and bland and the chunky salsa was extremely watery - I wasn't a fan. For our entrées, we ordered the enchiladas tapatios and chicken chimichanga. The food came out very quickly, which makes me think the rice and beans were sitting in warmers in the back. Met a couple of girlfriends here for what turned out to be the last summer night of the fall and happy to take advantage of Tapatio's outdoor space. While it was loud at times in the busy parking lot, it was great to be outside. The drink menu offered a Lavender Haze and I can't say no to Lavender! It was a good drink, and I especially liked the touch of the dehydrated lime as garnish. I went for the tacos plate and were i to do it again I would have made all of them the house made chorizo as that was definitely the star of the show. Greasy, but very flavorful. Okay, here's a Fitchburg gem for you! My friend offered to go here for drinks and tacos and I was very happy with our dinner. The tacos were delicious and tasted like authentic southern border food. On a Friday evening there were no open tables but a table quickly opened up and my friend and I were seated. We munched on the chips and salsa and I almost ruined my appetite because they were both so good. For drinks, I ordered the blackberry mojito and my friend ordered the Paloma, and both were delicious. The cocktails seemed like fancy drinks from a cocktail bar, and I was impressed. We perused the menu, which has the typical Mexican fare but also some Mexican dishes I don't often see at most restaurants, like sopes and various dishes with birria. I ordered the steak fajitas and my friend got El Tapatio. My steak was tasty, despite being a bit tough and chewy. The rice and beans were plain and nothing special. I wrote a review 5 years ago, complimenting the food and expressing disappointment with the bar service. We enjoy the food and have been back several times since, but rarely ordered mixed drinks. Our experience last night was a repeat. The food prices are on the higher side but, the food is really good. Likewise, the alcohol drink prices are on the high side but the service is poor at best. Our service was also only mediocre. Our group of 4 ordered drinks as soon as a server came to our table. Each drink was directly from the menu without customization. We waited over 15 minutes before our server came back to our table to check in and I asked about our drink order and had to ask if we could place our food order. We ordered our food, and our server returned in just a few moments later to check on us when I again asked about our drink order. Our food was served fairly promptly and we were almost half done before we were served our drinks. And then our server just disappeared for a long while. She was working tables but not paying any attention to us. If it weren't for the location convenience and food quality, we likely would rarely return if at all.
