Wanted to write a review of the roof top pool. We had a great lunch there - although the pool is small and crowded, our server, Melissa, was fantastic and very attentive. IF YOU ARE THINKING ABOUT STAYING HERE AS A FAMILY WITH CHILDREN, GO ANYWHERE ELSE!!!! We booked The Colonnade Boston on 6/9/26 for July 4-5 through Expedia for the 250th fireworks celebration. The next day I emailed about early check-in and a rollaway bed. The hotel replied that early check-in was first come, first served, and stated in writing: "We currently have your request for a rollaway bed, in your current reservation... Our rollaway bed is the size of a twin bed." My wife called at 8 a.m. on July 4 and confirmed the rollaway was on our reservation. We drove from Connecticut and arrived around 11:30AM At check-in, the front desk said no rollaway beds were available and our room was not ready. When my wife explained that she had just confirmed it that morning, the same employee said she must have spoken to housekeeping and that housekeeping did not have authority to reserve one. So the hotel can confirm something, put it on your reservation, then later say it does not exist?!? Since the room was not ready, we were told we could check our bags and use the rooftop pool. Around 2 p.m., the 11th-floor pool attendant acted like we were trying to sneak in and called the front desk with our full reservation name before eventually allowing us in. The rooftop pool was NOT family-friendly! It felt like a college/frat pool party: packed with adults drinking, socializing, sitting on all sides of the pool edge, filling the pool, all chairs, all tables, and the bar. There was nowhere for my wife, me, or our three young daughters to sit or put our belongings. One kind guest offered us one beach chair. The pool was so crowded there was barely room for kids to swim safely! My wife felt unsafe going in or leaving our things unattended. The deck boards were so hot they burned our daughters' feet; we had to put a towel down for them to stand on. As we left, we saw a mom tell her two small daughters they could not swim because it was too crowded, and the youngest (approx 3YO) began crying. It was sad to watch, but I totally understood! Around 3 p.m. our room was ready. It was small, unclean, and disappointing. The bathroom sink was clogged on first use and would not drain. The closet had no extra blankets or sheets. There was only one roll of toilet paper and two towels despite being booked for a family. The beds were tiny. The toilet was dirty under the rim. Other issues: only two cups, only two waters, broken/missing ice bucket handle, no ice bucket bag, dirt/dust inside the bucket, and worst of all, the 8th-floor window was unlocked with three young children in the room!Completely unacceptable!!! If we had not already bought tickets for View Boston across the street, we would have left immediately! The next morning my wife checked out around 8:30 a.m. because we could not wait to leave. She overheard a male front desk employee with glasses loudly and rudely yelling at a guest on the phone, saying, "Well, you are not telling me what the problem is!" and "You did not call us and tell us there was an issue!" Very aggressive and VERY unprofessional! Then her bank card was charged $104.94 for taxes/fees we had already paid through Expedia, including a $70 "overnight guest parking fee" even though we were paid hotel guests using the hotel's guest parking from 11:30AM July 4 to 8:30AM July 5. She wanted to pay cash, but the employee said, "Sorry, I already hit the process button." This hotel was one failure after another: no early check-in, no rollaway despite being requested and confirmed, overcrowded alcohol-heavy rooftop pool, unsafe hot decking, poor staff interactions, dirty room, clogged sink, dirty toilet, missing basic supplies, dirty/broken ice bucket, unlocked 8th-floor window, and surprise charges. If you need a party pad and do not care about comfort, cleanliness, or families, maybe this place is for you. But if you are traveling with children, PLEASE GO ANYWHERE ELSE!!! read more

The best part of my stay was interacting with the front desk staff. It was immediately greeted by Adam and he made everything easy to get me setup. He was happy and helpful. My next interaction was with Alexandre who was delightful, complimentary, and extremely knowledgeable in the services and amenities at the hotel and local surroundings. He was friendly and engaging in conversation making sure I had everything I needed, I had additional enjoyable conversations with him throughout my stay. I needed assistance late one night because I'd left my key in my room and Juan was fantastic I got new keys and he grabbed me a Pepsi. He made sure I got the help I needed and took a little extra time to talk whereas we are both from Texas. This type of first impression, and continued excellence throughout my stay is what makes this a destination hotel people love. Because my flight was delayed I had the chance to visit with Deneke who took care of my luggage and made sure I had water to stay cool on a hot day, and helped me into the car when it was time to depart. Because I was attending a conference, I had a chance to speak with Paul who was very helpful and I also had a chance to interact with Bill who ensured that we had everything we needed during the event, he was so personable and friendly. I enjoyed talking with him and watching him deliver exceptional service to guests. The rooms were beautiful, I had a great view of the Prudential building and a comfortable bed. The amenities were nice. The temperature outside was extremely hot during my stay (heat advisory 95+) and I noticed the rooms cooled better with the drapes closed, the hallways were stuffy and warm but the lobby was very pleasant and cool. The rooftop swimming pool is amazing. The views are gorgeous and the service was good. read more

We checked into this hotel on a Monday afternoon. We found out that the only restaurant in the hotel is closed for dinner both Sunday and Mondays, and the bar is not open until 5 PM and only has snacks. There was a black hair in our bathtub, and I have blonde hair. We went to use the iron, and the iron immediately left an iron imprint of some kind of black substance on my Linen pants. The room is very dated, particularly the bathroom. The HVAC makes a terrible noise & revs up almost like an engine about to explode. The toilet also makes a very strange noise at the end of the cycle. Overall, a very disappointing stay. We did try to complain to the front desk, a woman named Michelle, who did not appear to show any care or concern. A manager did call annd anpologized, and comped our parking, regardless we will not be back. read more

Hotel is in a nice location in the Bay Back area. Staff are nice and helpful. I had a travelzoo deal so I saved some money but don't forget about taxes and parking if you have a car. It all adds up. My 2 biggest complaints were the air condition system and the shower. The AC turns on and off to regulate the temp in the room and when it goes on it's so loud it's insane. Had to keep raising and lowering the TV volume because it was so dramatic. Also the sleep timer was broken on our remote/TV. Not a huge deal but I use that and it bothered me the whole time. With the shower the tub floor was like lifting up. It was so strange. Also the pressure is super hard. Usually it's the other way around but this was like beating me up. Overall if I wanted to stay in Back Bay this is an ok option just not amazing. read more

I'm reviewing the Rooftop Pool. I went to the pool as a non-guest of the hotel. I paid $55 to get in, and it was totally worth it in my opinion. I showed up at 11:00am on a 90 degree Wednesday and was able to get a lounge chair no problem. Each lounge chair comes with a towel chair cover and there are also a bunch of pool towels as well. The bar is stocked and the bartenders are good at making the cocktails into mocktails on request. I also got the Apple flatbread and that was very tasty as well. There is a bathroom, showers, and changing rooms on the roof itself which is so cool. I especially loved the feeling of an outdoor shower. Overall this was an amazing experience! read more

This Hotel is in a wonderful location in the Backbay area. Right across from the Prudential center and many surrounding restaurants and shops. Walkable to a few different T stops and the wonderful Boston Common/ Gardens isn't far. The lobby of this hotel is very nice looking. Also online this hotel looks great and rooms do too. There is also a rooftop pool that is wonderful to relax by in the summertime. And they sometimes have work out classes on it like yoga by the pool. Honestly, I try not to stay here often as the last few times I have stayed here its been not so great service, rooms have not been up to par or I've seen some security issues. I see in some other reviews the security was brought up. My room this go around was by the end of the hall where the heat was blasting and so the heat from the hallway like seeped into my room. I turned the AC on but would turn it off pretty fast as it sounds like a jet plane was in or near my room. That is how loud it was. Who could sleep with that going... Not me! I did see some little stains on pillow cases. By the way, these pillows are not the most comfortable. My tv, I don't remember it taking so long to load as it did this time around. My door didn't seem closed all the way. I mean it was but just didn't seem it. And the top lock thing didn't go down all the way. The bathroom door didn't stay closed as it was a sliding door unless it was locked which was annoying as the lock was a bit hard to undo. Also, there is a sign on my floor that points to where the ice machine is. There is a sign by a door that says ice. Well that door is locked and there is only ice on certain floors but how is one supposed to know that if there is a sign pointing to the ice machine on your floor? Staff here are nice but I did have some not so nice ones and ones who just didn't seem to want to be there working. All in all, this is deff not my number one hotel I usually go to when I visit Boston. read more

The staff here has been just wonderful. The rooms are just ok at this price point - but clean and have all the things you'd expect. Nice towels, good toiletries, Keurig, fridge, little round table for work. So far my only complaints are: 1) the magnifying make-up mirror's light doesn't work. 2) The in room safe seems like it is on its last legs - very slow to respond to button presses- makes me nervous my items will be trapped forever, and 3) They seem to have contracted with a sand paper vendor for their toilet tissue. read more

The entire staff was an amazing hard working employees! Hichan the bell man was extremely helpful in understanding and accommodating our needs; thereby, preventing a BIG MOVE switching me from room to the next!! The other works seemed to be new at training and not under the process and insisted that we move to a different room after the 3rd night!! It would have been a disaster in the waiting. For as expensive as this hotel is, I expected better. The a/c unit was so loud that we could barely hear the television. The smoke detector was hanging off the wall. The television wasn't connected, which required maintenance to come twice. The hair dryer was filthy. The lighted makeup mirror in the bathroom did not light up. The tub floor was not safe, it felt like it was lifting up from the floor. The rooftop pool and lounge area are very small. On the plus side, the room was a decent size, and the hotel is conveniently located near the subway and shops. read more

We really liked The Colonnade Hotel in Boston. Alexandre, who managed the front desk was so wonderful and kind. He let us check in early and when we had a problem with the A/C in our room, he moved us to a beautiful upgraded room. The hotel is in a good location for sightseeing. And the hotel has a gorgeous rooftop pool that was fun, although a bit of a party scene on the weekend. Overall, a great experience and highly recommended. read more

Hotel rooms are not up to standard. 1. Side lamp made annoying buzzing noise. 2. Curtains were off the hooks and hanging down. 3. Closet doors damaged 4. Paint scratches around bathroom door frame 5. Light on bathroom make up mirror not working. 6. TV did not work properly - engineer came to room to fix chrome cast so we could watch Netflix. Halfway thru movie it cut out again. 7. The toilet paper is single ply and like sandpaper... The rooftop pool is closed and under Repair... guest food Trays are left out in the hallways for well over 24 hours and I had to go by the front desk to ask they be picked up as I was getting a bit disgusting, the room air conditioner didn't work and the engineer had to come up to fix it... other than the above, this place was wonderful... front desk was very courteous, always had a smile and helpful, in the restaurant twice and everything was fairly quick reasonably priced and tasty, the bar was nice at night and there were some folks at the front door to help us with things like directions and baggage. They also loaned us a umbrella for our stay as it was raining... Very nice touch! read more

We stayed at The Colonnade Hotel during the summer of 2021, when the pandemic procedures were just starting to ease. While some of the amenities were limited at the time, I could not say enough terrific things about the hotel. The front desk staff was warm, welcoming, and provided great local advice. The gym was well-appointed, though I wish the other hotel guests had been more considerate with wearing masks and cleaning down their machines, though that was not the hotel's fault. Our room was immaculate, modern, and had great views of the surrounding area and beyond. Self-parking was also available, but at a high cost. Lastly, the main draws of this hotel were the location and its rare rooftop pool and bar. We certainly took advantage of its neighborhood convenience, but, sadly, it was too cold on that weekend to enjoy the pool. We did head up there to grab a drink from the bar and enjoy the view, but, first, had to wrap ourselves in their fluffy towels to keep warm. The roof deck had plenty of seating and even cabanas that were available for rent. The hotel offered day passes to non-guests on weekends, so keep that in mind for your visit. The Colonnade Hotel provided us with an excellent stay, and I would highly recommend it, as it offers top-notch service, an excellent location, clean rooms, and more. read more

I felt like the photos of the room we booked off of the website didn't match the actual room we received. The lobby of the hotel was posh and the staff was lovely. Our room however looked dated, tired and worn a little. Also our room window had been left open when we walked into our room. The weather was muggy when we were there and our room felt like it would benefit from a dehumidifier or even an extraction fan in the bathroom. We checked into our room so late at night I was too tired to debate the issue with the staff because we were only staying two nights and I was tired. Even on the second night the room smelled musty. We booked a room with two queen beds and those beds felt very small. read more

I really loved this hotel. It is located in a great area where there's tons of restaurants and shopping. Ubers are easy to get the front desk. Staff was super friendly and helpful. As for the room, I slept so well! The bed and pillows are probably some of the best hotel ones I've slept on. The king size room is super spacious. I really love that there's a Keurig in the room with tea and coffee, sugar, half & half and bottled water! The shower pressure is awesome on the water stays hot forever! read more

Ok. Let's start with the fact that I don't even normally write reviews. The fact that I'm even writing this right now, while at the bar at Lucie (the attached restaurant) and I don't even check out until tomorrow morning should tell you everything. The Colonnade is that gworl! I got a Luxe King city view room for my 3-night stay and I'M COMING BACK. I came in town for an academic conference and was torn between getting a less expensive but farther from the conference site hotel and this spot. However, after reading the reviews that rave about service and quality I just knew that if I was gonna have to spend a little extra that this would be worth it. Glad to say I WAS NOT WRONG. 1. Service is impeccable. I needed to print a copy of the paper I was presenting at my conference and while there is no business station like at other hotels, front desk was so willing to print as many copies as I needed complimentary. 2. The beds are PLUSH. So are the robes. My room was so spacious and so well organized I really felt at home. Bomb sleep every night (so far!) 3. Lucie! Such a hip and vibrant restaurant! It has been the best meeting/eating spot. I got elegant vibes, tasty/filling food without having to walk outside in this treacherous cold! 4. The decor and ambiance of the place is so nice. Both the restaurant and hotel proper. Def a spot for a bad b*** on business. Which I am. Obv! Anyways. I'm a little lit and this review is getting a little long . Just know that if you're considering the Colonnade or even Lucie, the answer is JUST DO IT. read more

I stayed at the Colonnade Hotel last week, and it was truly a disappointment from check-in. A major reason I chose the Colonnade was the rooftop area (as pictured online), featuring a bar and at least one TV. I was hoping to watch the NFL and enjoy a drink with an urban view the Sunday I arrived but I was informed that the rooftop closes after Labor Day. What is this, a community pool? The weather was perfect almost the entire week, it would have been so lovely to enjoy the rooftop. The room and property cleanliness was below average - half full trash bags were left in the hall too long, and worse, a half eaten waffle on a plate was left on a hall table overnight. My bathroom felt a bit dirty upon check in. As for daily room cleans, the staff always made my beds and replenished the in-room water bottles. However, when it came to the bathroom towels, at least once they simply folded up and hung a used towel (with make-up on it) instead of replacing it. The room itself was small (I knew this going in) but the bathroom layout was odd. There was a lot of space around the toilet and sink but the shower/bathtub was very small and awkward, making for an unpleasant experience each time I used it. The TV had limited channels and was hard to work. As for streaming, the TV used Chromecast, and I was not willing to use a third party iPhone app to make that work. If I could, I would give the Colonnade 2.5 stars because the beds were comfortable enough, the location is great and I never felt unsafe on property. That being said, you can find safety and (essentially) the same location at both the Sheraton Boston Hotel and Boston Marriott Copley Place, which I believe to be vastly superior. read more

We absolutely love staying at the Colonnade! I go back and forth to Germany often and the Colonnade reminds me of one of the hotels I usually stay in over there. It's very conveniently and centrally located in Back Bay with Green Line access almost directly in front of the hotel, and the Prudential Center in front, you have lots of options to get around the city or find food. Check in was simple, the staff at the front desk were always pleasant and talkative. The doorman inside always greeted us when we arrived and wished us well upon leaving for the day. The rooms are comfortable, we had these large windows that spanned the room which again reminded me of my trips to Germany because the hotel had giant windows overlooking the Alps. Here though, we overlooked Barnes and Noble! One of the features I like here regarding the rooms were the doorbells, and the privacy and please make up room features. They're electronic and easy to use. The lobby is stunning, we sat by the fireplace before and after going out at night. Made some interesting friends, met the entire flight crews for Icelandair and Lufthansa. Prices were very reasonable for Boston. We booked it a week prior and paid $179 which for Boston is extremely cheap. Certainly would come back again when we come back up! read more

There's a shortage of hotels in Boston and the prices of rooms in the summer are pretty ridiculous . The Colonnade was reasonably priced and close to Fenway so it was an obvious choice for my five night stay including three Red Sox games. I checked in at 9 AM but there wasn't a room available for me until 10 AM. At first the receptionist was curt with me telling me I'd have to wait until 3 PM for a room. But then when her manager saw my anger she stepped in to accommodate me quickly. Nice modern room. The shower faucet, bathroom ceiling light, and sink faucet were broken and I had to ask for repairs twice. Also, the walls are very thin. Noise from the room next door and hallway were unbearable. Other than these factors I can't complain. The close proximity to Fenway and all the shops on Boylston make this a top choice for me. I'd definitely stay here again. read more

We come to Boston occasionally to visit our son who works and lives here. Knowing we would be shopping at Copley I made reservations at the Colonnade. The night before we realized we would be getting into town early so I called and spoke to the front desk who gave us no issues about an early check-in. Upon arrival we were greeted by Chris. Couldn't be nicer and he represents the hotel well. He explained that they had already put a dog bed and bowls in our room, provided a canister of doggie bags, a list of places we could walk her and offered an elevator push button things so that we don't have to touch the elevator buttons because of covid. When I explained my son would be coming to pick me up, he said it would be okay for him to park in front for a little while. The rooms are clean and there was a welcome kit with mask, wipes and sanitizer on the table. We our across the street from Prudential Center, a block from Copley Place and parking was included in our very reasonable room rate. Dog friendly, personable staff, clean, reasonable rates in a great location. What more do you need? We will definitely make reservations at The Colonnade for our future trips. read more

One of the nicest hotels we've stayed at in Boston! We often travel to Boston for an overnight or two and choose it hotel based on rating, location, and price. In seven years of visiting Boston, The Colonnade never popped up in our search! Well for graduation weekend, it did! What a gem! Location is excellent (Pru Center is right across the street), rooms are updated, spacious, clean, bright with natural light, and quiet. Bed was extremely comfortable. The shower is glorious with powerful water pressure. Front desk staff was extremely pleasant and helpful. The self park garage is attached to the building. Super convenient! We thought we were going to be out of luck finding a cat-friendly hotel in Boston, but the Colonnade not only accepts pets, they totally embrace it! The parking was quite expensive as it was $65 a day and I was not informed that the pool as well as the restaurant would be closed. That leaves me with nothing but a hotel room with none of the normal highlights of a hotel. The temperature regulation system intermittently switched hot and cold, and was louder than a banshee. Finally in desperation I turned it off entirely. For the price point not worth it. read more

Well i have read the other reviews and i dont doubt they are true. i can report a very good experience. We took a red-eye from LA (god help us I know, we never do that) so we arrived at 8? I had already emailed about an early check-in and never received a response. When we hit the front desk they take my cell and tell me they will text when we can get a room. I had anticipated some issues but not at all. We hang out in the lobby with their complimentary coffee and hot tea and the fireplace. We got a text after probably 40 minutes. Norman seems to be the lead bellman and he's a perfect brand ambassador. The other bell staff also excellent. I am truly into clean and lack of clutter and cant stomach cutesy decor. I did NOT find cleanliness issues. NONE! The halls are clean, the entire room was dialed in. The WINDOWS THAT OPEN are like my #2 most desired item EVER. We could turn off the HVAC units that are always clunky and noisy The weather was super nice and we could sleep with the windows open. And the 'hood is quiet, we were not disturbed. Really nice feature. The lobby is a nice place to hang out with lots of sep seating areas. Fridge is the room is newer and nice. Hot water in the shower is instantaneous. In five days I think I heard one other room door make a large noise once. One of the inner sheer curtain rods was malfunctioning but I was able to wrap the curtain around the heavier blackout curtain to push it away from the window and let in all the light I wanted. Our side of the hall had decent views of the city -- also nice (not just a wall with windows on an opposing building). The location is very good. We were able to spend time easily with our Berklee student, walk to the Public Garden, head up to Beacon Hill, to to Newbury Street, walk everywhere. And, the Prudential T-stop is right there in front. To go back to the airport we grabbed the Green line, took it say 3 stops to the Blue line and was quickly at the airport. It is probably the easiest city to get in and out of without having to make it a big ordeal. To be able to easily take public transport to the airport is a dream. Our student is in year one so I am super glad to have found a place I can come to 2x a year to visit. read more

beware of the interconnected rooms there is absolutely no sound proofing between interconnected rooms. we could hear every conversation our neighbors had and it kept us up both nights of our stay. this should not be an issue but the cracks under the doors are so large it lets all the sound through. we will not be staying again. read more

I didn't spend nearly as much time here as I would have liked but this was a really solid hotel. I checked in late at night so the process was fairly easy. The lobby area is swanky but the hallway area of each floor could definitely use a facelift. It's a bit dark and dreary and you can definitely hear things right through the door of your room. The room was huge but the bathroom was a bit claustrophobic if you were traveling with a few people/boyfriend. I really enjoyed the rubber ducky they provide you, its a quirky touch. The king bed was incredibly comfortable and the pillows were the perfect amount of firm and soft. The little table in the room was perfect size to work on or eat. Two things that put it from a 5 to a 4 star. One: they start doing room cleaning at 8 am. Make sure you set your room to private. You would think a hotel knows this is a bit too early for most patrons. I thought I set mine on private but the button had stuck and the maid did not see this. Another reason is the room service food. So I saw many complaints here about how pricy it was- this I don't agree with totally because it's a big city and of course food is expensive! No, the thing I have an issue with is the fact even the basic eggs and potatoes breakfast doesn't include water or a juice/coffee? Coffee is an extra and dont even think about some free water. I have stayed at many, many hotels and even the hole in the wall hotels bring up your food with some water and coffee. I was expecting a fun night at the pool where I could enjoy a nice bite to eat but that is not what I got. After my food arrived, it was given to me with no utensils or napkins. When I asked for them, I was said that they would be brought to me. When my server came back she said that she would check in with the utensils and napkins. They still weren't given to me 20 minutes later. My food was already cold. Extremely bad service and average food. Would not come back. read more
