In the end, their customer service was exceptionally good. They returned all of my money and took back the glasses. Reason: they did not discuss that the upgrades that they added were more than double what my insurance allowed. Of course it was my fault (according to them) that I did not ask. Perhaps they should say something like ......" "We would like to use, what we feel is a better lens. It costs $225 instead of $75" "Our anti-reflective coating is better , but you will pay more" " The Frames that we sold you for over $200 ($155from insurance plus $50 from me) are different from the same brand/style that you are seeing online for under $50 because..." Perhaps there is an acceptable explanation for all of this, but explain upfront and don't blame the customer . They have nice stuff , but be sure to discuss costs. Originally, I went into Larkfield Optical on a recommendation from Visionworks who could not help me repair a pair of Raybans that belongs to my son. With Stefanie's knowledge of these glasses, she was able to find the model of the glasses and order the arm. The repair was made when the arm came in. I returned at a later date for an eye exam and with one of their opticianist who was wonderful. I purchased a pair of updated lens and a pair of sunglasses. I was treated with such disrespect from 2 of the woman. My daughters arm to her glasses broke and they tried to sell you arms that do not even match the frame whatsoever. The one lady said what does it even matter if she wears her hair down you won't even see it. Disgusting! I finally they said if I don't pay for the arms they have to keep the glasses knowing she needs them to see and fit school. Staff was friendly however the price of glasses was outrageous. I was quoted over $800 for Two pairs of glasses keep in mine I was not getting frames just glasses. I could only imagine how much it would be if I were to purchase frames from them. I told them that's unacceptable so it dropped to 750. We got the price down into the 600's. I've been going to Larkfield Optical for 5 years now. I just happened to stop in 1 day when I was looking for a new pair. Since then I've been back many times for service when I break my glasses, have purchased 3 pairs and it didn't matter if I was living in Holtsville or Smithtown, I go back there. Came here as a new patient being they accepted my insurance . Called early in the week and they were able to accommodate the same week. Since the first phone call they have been nothing but sweet professional and kind. A+ on the customer service . When I finally made it in for the appointment I had a little hiccup with my insurance but they did everything they could to help me figure it out and finally getting it worked out . Dr turner (I think) sorry if I got this wrong but her first name was deff April , was also so sweet kind and professional. (The appointment was actually for my daughter) she walked and talked her through it all tell her what each machine did and my daughter was super comfortable . Customer Service here is OUTSTANDING. Very willing to work with you to find a pair of eyeglasses you love whether it takes ten tries or fifty! I never felt like I was being an inconvenience and I thought the staff was very knowledgable and friendly. The prices here also beat any others around. Scam artists. I went in with my prescription looking for two pairs of glasses (sunglasses and regular). I selected frames and then was told that the glasses would be $750 per pair. I told them that that was too much and started to leave. They then told me that I could have the glasses for $1,300. Still too much. They then went to $1,200, then $1,100. I still felt that the price was too high. She then pulled the "let me speak to the owner" trick. When she came back I was told that I could have both for $950, but I had to buy them now! I told her that I was leaving. She said that she'd be there tomorrow and that she could get me the same price then. So much for "buy them now". Shifty, underhanded scammers. Btw- I went to Costco the next day and got both pairs of glasses for under $400! read more

This was a wonderful experience for me. Admittedly, I haven't gotten an eye exam for the better part of a decade because frankly, I never needed one. Over the last two or three years though, my vision had gotten fuzzy so once I finally got my vision plan, I called to see if they could take me later on in the day. They literally said come down now and I did. The eye doctor was very nice, and did a very good job of explaining my prescription to me, and what exactly had happened to my eyes over the years. The customer service was stellar. They were so very nice and patient with me as I tried a number of pairs on, since I've never worn them before and had no idea what would look good. I strongly recommend this place to anyone who needs an eye exam or eye glasses. If you look at my other reviews, I tend to stick to Hotels and Restaurants, but was so happy with my service today that I thought it should be recognized here. read more

DO NOT GO HERE!!!!! They are scammers!!!! The girls in the front are RUDE!!!! Especially Taylor. They try charging for exams that are covered by insurance and then are extremely rude about it once you get the insurance on the phone to tell them they are wrong. Find a legitimate business to get your eyes checked and don't go here. Taylor's boss should know how rude she is to customers and maybe she should be in a different line of work not dealing with people. Also note that my entire family has been going here for years. I never write reviews, ever. I am writing this one because of my stellar experience at Larkfield Optical . Every single employee in that store was more friendly and helpful than the next. From the second you walk i the door they all make you feel welcome and almost honored to have you in their store. This is the type of service in this day and age you do not find anywhere. I have been wearing glasses for over 40 years and have been to countless optical establishments which ALL PALE IN COMPARISON to Larkfield optical. My son starting wearing glasses in 4th grade and this is the only optometrist that my son wants to go to. The staff is understanding, thorough and very very patient especially after how many pairs of glassss my son tried on. I also want to point out that the turn around for new glasses is super fast. If I could give zero stars I would. This place is a rip off and the staff is beyond rude. I went in for an eye exam in October of 2020. The exam was very brief and did not feel thorough at all. Then I sat down with a sales person and started looking at frames. Finally picked 2 that I liked. I had them price it up and the price seemed ridiculous so I said I would be back. I returned in August and looked at frames again. I narrowed my choice down to a pair of Pradas and had them priced up. She gave me a price with the Lenses of $380. She told me the regular price on the glasses was $499, plus the cost of the lenses but I had insurance which offers a variety of discounts on both the frames and lenses. When I said that I wanted to see what other companies are selling it for, she refused to give me the information about frames make and model and asked for the glasses back. I was shocked and appalled. I told her that she was rude and swore to never go back. Well guess what.....I went to Lens Crafters and got the same glasses, with the blue light upgrade for $240. With the blue light upgrade, my glasses would have been about $500 here. Don't go there. They can't adapt to a modern world where they are selling commodities and they have no sense for business. I wanted to support a local business, but i wouldn't send my enemies here. read more

I went there this past Friday as a walk-in. They were busy but took the time to help me out. I must have tried on 50 pairs before I found the one I wanted. Then they asked if I wanted to make an appointment for an eye exam, and I said well, what are you doing now? - as a joke - and they looked in the book and had a few appointments but said they would squeeze me in. Just like that. The lady was super-helpful (I think she's the owner) and chatted with my mom and me for a bit. I didn't feel rushed or like I was imposing on them by just walking in on a Friday evening. They said my new glasses should be ready in about a week, maybe a bit more (my eyesight is terrible and complicated!), which is fine by me. I would definitely recommend Larkfield Optical to family and friends. Even to people I don't like - 'cuz I'm nice like that. :) Since I haven't gotten my (very complicated) glasses yet, I'll post an update when I do. read more

I called in to make an appointment and they were able to see me later on the same day, which was perfect as I had a busy rest of the week. I normally wear contacts, but was looking for a pair of glasses to compliment my style. The ladies were extremely helpful as I tried 20+ pairs to find something I like. As we tried on pairs they helped me pick something that would look good with my face shape. Buyer beware if you have insurance be sure to get prices for everything you are purchasing and what it will be less the insurance in writing because this business likes to scam. I went and purchased almost $1000.00 in glasses from Maria with insurance at this place and had a simple question about how much my ins benefits covered. I happened to be on the phone directly with my ins company and decided we would call Larkfield optical together to get a clear picture of exactly what I was paying for as they don't give you an itemized receipt. I did not suspect any foul play at this point. As the conversation progressed and Maria could not cover up her shady billing she became very agitatedly. She started saying how she gave us big discounts and how she couldn't sleep that night, what does this have to do with you not applying our benefits correctly. At the end she became very cross and told us we can start all over with no discounts what so ever or she would cancel the entire order. Nice way to do business! They are always really "busy" so if you ask them to do something, they will do it wrong or forget or not do it at all. It is not that hard to write out a receipt. I have been going to Larkfield Optical for the last 4 years. I have nothing but great things to say about everyone who works here and the services they deliver. Three of us in my family wear glasses and have purchased them from Larkfield without issue. The cost is on par with other non big box Optical practices. I have a very complicated prescription and they get it right every time. Being able to see and function every day is not something I take for granted and will stay with this business as long as they are there. read more

I would not recommend this place for anyone who has anything other than a slight vision problem. The doctors are mediocre, the glasses are overpriced, and the staff is unprofessional. I was given an incorrect prescription twice, and am now in a position where I will have to pay out of pocket for a third eye exam. Both times I went in for an exam, I was told one price for the exam, and when I came out of the exam room I had magically incurred additional fees that I had not authorized. The second time I had an exam, I was told that they would do the exam to correct my prescription at no cost. They then charged me for that exam, which is beyond criminal. I went to larkfield optical for the first time today and will never go back. I felt belittled and was spoken to in a condescending manner. One of the ladies told me that my visit would be $59 dollars and when I went to check out they said it was $79. I questioned the $20 difference, she explained that it was because of the type of exam I had. I didn't ask for anything special, but because I had an astigmatism it was more. I lost my job and was even questioning spending the $59 to begin with and they were well aware of this from the moment I set up the appt. One of the employees told me that they will do it for the $59 and to stop giving them a hard time. I never ever got upset, I just questioned the charge. I then paid with a gift card worth a decent amount of money, (it was given to me from a friend and was only supposed to be used for emergencies and was to be returned back to them.) they made statements about how they didn't realize gift cards came in such large denominations and then proceeded to tell me that the balance was large. They made me feel as though I was lying about my financial situation. I think they knew that I was very uncomfortable so they started to ask inappropriate personal questions to lighten the mood. read more
