The Chinese food hunt/ struggle during quarantine is looking like it's over!!! In my quest to find Chinese in Orange County I came across this small restaurant in Pine Bush! Not only are they OPEN, but dang it the food is GREAT!!! If you're not sold yet, they are also serving drinks (to go of course) as they are also a bar! As busy as they are now, I was agreed at the moment I walked in and was able to place my order fairly quickly considering the phone lines just kept ringing and people kept coming in. I ordered my drinks to take with me which were two Allman joys based off a comment I saw someone posted in a local Facebook group about. The owner, Larry himself came out probably 10 minutes later to make my drinks and he was literally the friendliest, down to earth guy I have met in a while. It was about a 30 minute wait for food but that is to be expected as when you find a Chinese restaurant open now during quarantine they normally have long lines and a long wait. What I have to say I really loved about this place was while I was waiting for my food and number of locals came in to purchase drinks or even small items like soup and eggrolls simply to make sure they supported the small businesses of the community during this time. Now, on to the food.... As you can see in the pictures, everything looked great! The shrimp was fresh, my kids loved the chicken & fried rice well and overall great quality food! I will definitely be going back here again before the quarantine is over and after (when we're all allowed out again). read more

My husband and I used to enjoy coming here for weeknight dinners, but our recent experience at Larry's Chinese Restaurant and Bar guaranteed that we will never return. From the start, our waiter was completely inattentive and dismissive. When we made a simple request for extra noodles and duck sauce, he acted as if we were bothering him. It was obvious throughout the evening that he was prioritizing larger tables, likely assuming he would land a bigger tip from them. What he failed to realize is that my husband is a generous tipper who typically leaves well over 20%. The service was so terrible this time that my husband left a note on the napkin letting him know we would have tipped much more had he been kinder to us. The food itself was mediocre, but the lack of basic hospitality made us feel completely undervalued as regular customers. We are actively searching for a new local spot to patronize instead. read more

Apparently I've been in the dark about this. The bar was moved with the locals, whixh is nice to see, and the dining area was filled with the same. The food here is authentic & top notch, its not often that I want Chinese food because its always so basic. This is the real deal. The rice alone, its dark, not greasy, loaded with pork, so good. I got the sesame shrimp&my husband the general tso, and we enjoyed it all. Large portions too, we needed a to go container. Owner was not very friendly. I cannot rate the food because we left after we noticed a weird smell. Would not recommend.

We have been here repeatedly since my last review. Still our favorite and won't go anywhere else for Chinese sit in or take out. Love their BBQ ribs, w/or w/o the bone. Love the shimp and lobster sauce too. Sesame Chicken or shrimp is always wonderful and all the soups - we love them. They started using packaged noodles (UGH) but there must have been complaints cause they are back to their homemade noodles that you get with soup or to just dunk in duck sauce or mustard. was in the area and wanted to try this place based on a recommending of a friend. First, it was interesting to see a bar and a Chinese restaurant all in one, def different, so after finding a person, I ordered a few things, egg drop soup, shrimp in garlic sauce, and spare BBQ ribs to which I was told are best. The wait for the food was pretty quick, and I was thanked. so, the shrimp in garlic sauce, shrimp was cooked alright, still plump and not overdone, veggies were thoughly cooked, but not much flavor outside the sauce Thery were bathed in and that could be bit spicier. Ribs were very meaty, and cooked just right with no brunt edges, BBQ sauce that was brushed on tangy and sweet. Glad the ribs were as good as my friend told me. Egg drops soup was warming and savory, not much different than I had before elsewhere. White rice with my meal was bit overwhelming, was not that steamed fresh jasmine rice, was more a parboiled rice which was a shame. overall, I think I would be better off ordering a special I saw on a board as I entered. read more

Good food! I have yet to try anything here that I did not like! Good food and quick service. I love asian food because you can have a tasty meal without meat and with your veggies. So glad we tried Larry's. The service was excellent, the food was very good, and it was great to finally find good Chinese food in a real dine in restaurant. While the boyfriend prefers a soy sauce forward fried rice-- give me steamed rice any day--we both enjoyed the egg rolls, fried dumplings, and sesame chicken and took home lots of leftovers. The cost keeps going up, and the quality keeps going down. Smaller portions, tiny egg rolls, and if you don't ask for condiments, you don't get any. I know Covid has hit everyone, but if you're charging me more, then at least give me some good food. Larry's is the best Chinese in Pine Bush, so we now hop over to Ming Moon's in Wurtsboro for takeout where your dollar goes a bit further and there is some meat amongst all the cabbage. Went to Larry's Chinese restaurant and bar for the first time. After reading their reviews decided to give them a try. Very disappointed!!! Got sesame chicken w/ pork fried rice and shrimp curry with white rice. First of all the curry had no heat to it, then the pork fried rice had a dark yellowish color to it, very greasy and had no flavor at all. Finally, the sesame chicken was still doughy and when I cut a piece of the chicken open, the chicken had a grayish color not white! I give this restaurant less than 0 read more

Don't understand what all of the complaints are about. The staff are friendly and attentive the food is your standard Chinese American fare. The portions are plentiful and reasonably priced. The food is prepared fresh, served quickly and is tasty. My wife and I have been here twice with no complaints. We like Larry's. read more

First I'd like to mention that there is two Chinese restaurants in Pine Bush, Larry's Chinese Restaurant and Pine Bush Chinese Restaurant. I think some of the reviews here may have the two confused. I've been going to Larry's since it opened about 10 years ago for both take out and dine in. I've never had a bad experience. Yuck! Stay away. The only reason I went back to this Chinese restaurant was because the new place my husband and I have been going to was closed today. I figured I would give it another try. Big mistake, we should have ordered Italian. Since Covid, you have the nerve to jack up your prices and lower your standards? The Wonton soup had no taste and looked like bad transmission fluid. I ordered sesame shrimp, which is on your specialty list of items and the sauce tasted like week old tomato sauce. I never had such disgusting Chinese food in my life. On top of that, to add insult to injury, the noodles that you put into the soup were stale and white rice was sticky. A total waste of $30. I actually called the owner and explained to him how bad the food was. I wanted a refund for the food, $30 is a lot of money for not being satisfied with the food. We did taste the food and I am not going to lie about that. We had to taste it in order to find out how bad it was. My husband had some bites out of his chicken and broccoli, the chicken was undercooked but he did end up eating the broccoli. He was hungry and he's diabetic. However, he didn't touch his rice. My food, I only took a few bites out of it and never touched the rest. I am a very honest person and would never lie to an owner of any store or restaurant. I respect how hard these restaurant owners are working these days, especially during this pandemic. But, in return, I expect good quality food. My husband ended up throwing the food out, never thinking that the owner would ask the food back because of the Covid-19 pandemic. Who would do that? Well, the owner did ask for the food back and there was no way I was going to go through the garbage, in the rain, at that point. Plus I had to empty the soup. I couldn't put a full container in the garbage. So, even if we went back, we wouldn't be going back with "all" of the food he was asking for. I'm sure he was asking for the food back to see if we had eaten or not. Trust me, the food was gross. We did not eat it. So in asking me to bring the food back, in essence, this owner is calling me a liar. The customer should always be right. Hence, that is why I am writing this review. Bad customer service as well. We sat down to order to go food as we have never been before but heard great things. The bartender was so rude and not customer friendly at all. The tonic water was flat and she argued with us about it. We almost walked out of the restaurant but since it was late and there was no where else open nearby we decided to continue with the take out order. It took literally less than 10 minutes for all the food to come out. All the food tasted exactly the same. The hot and sour soup was good but that's it. I was disappointed after traveling 35 minutes. I finally found my chinese spot! I placed a togo order here with the owner, Larry. He seemed so happy to see me! The place was busy I saw people waiting in their car and that is why i originally pulled in to see what everyone was doing. I was even able to get a togo drink! The zombies were great. I got steak and you could taste how fresh it was. It was not fake tasting like most of the resturantes around here. Once they are fully open i will be taking my girlfriend here for dinner and drinks! The owner was great and took the time to ask me how my day was. I will be reccomending Larry's to all my friends! read more
