(Phonetic Spelling: k-vahs). Russian kvass is a probiotic-rich, low-alcohol beverage made primarily from rye bread, distinguishing it from other fermented drinks like kombucha and kefir, which use different base ingredients and fermentation processes. Unlike many commercial versions of kvass, traditional kvass retains live cultures and has a unique, complex flavor profile. (I liken it to cold root beer, with a hint of sassafrass tea). The brand we purchase comes in a two liter & has live cultures, so it is refrigerated; it features an Orthodox Papal figure. It is delicious! He usually also purchases various chocolates and candies, as well as small frozen sweets that resemble tiny chocolate dipped waffle cone ice creams. I know minimal Russian, so he usually speaks for us. TBH-I don't think I'd be comfortable going as a non native Russian speaking consumer.

I purchased almost $60 worth of chocolate and got a lot for the price. There's a lot of deli meats and fish. There's dairy products. You can find Dubai chocolate here (also white Dubai chocolate with manuka honey). You can also find Russian borscht in a jar! How amazing! The fish and the meats looked fantastic, very fresh. I was very impressed with the cleanliness of the store and quality of products. They're very unique to the area! The service is absolutely amazing! The owner is super friendly and genuine. He honestly says what products are the best, and even provides samples. He is very committed to quality and guarantees his products. I learned that he used to own Jubilee Party Center in Richmond Heights so he's seasoned in the food industry. The store offers a wide array of the usual Mediterranean and middle eastern food goods, imports, grocery, fresh meat, frozen items, cheeses, labneh, yogurt (Greek style, Lebanese, others), fresh pondered coffee beans, coffee/eat kettles, kitchen ware, pita bread bags, candy, and all the known lovely sweets (baklava, warbaat, katayef, etc). They also sell pre-packaged assorted baklava sweets, as well as imported sweets. The staff are extremely friendly and knowledgeable. The owner is very friendly and she always tries to accommodate the kitchen needs especially when it comes to fresh meat, poultry, lamb, etc. Cleveland/Akron area has a number of similar stores, but this one serves Tallmedge and Akron area which helps since there are not too many similar stores directly nearby in Tallmedge and south Akron area. If you are in the area and need some quick Mediterranean grocery flair, stop by.
