This is a super cute lil spot! We split a Monte Cristo sandwich and the Biscuits and Gravy…read more The monte Cristo is basically a big beignet with meat and cheese in the middle, could have more meat but overall was very satisfying and the dipping mixed berry coulis (jam) paired wonderfully. The Cajun biscuits and gravy had a lil spice to it but was reasonable for a white girl. The biscuit itself was house and exceptional. The gravy was very rich and a little on the thick side. The sausage bits were a little overdone but wonderful flavor, I personally like them A little charred. Coffee was a 10/10, it's just a hot black coffee but they provide a cute little serving of half and half. Plus, it's free refills so yay, love that! The staff were nice, helpful, attentive, and I dare say fashionable I think my two favorite things about this place are: 1. Small menu. Are you just a girl in the world suffering from decision fatigue? Come here. Menu seems to be seasonal as well. 2. The vibe is so cute, otter portraits and decor, elegant colors, and excellent music for everyone. Biggest draw back: food is a little heavy ‍ but makes the soul light I would come here again!

My mother is from the south and makes homemade Mac and cheese. So I am very picky with my Mac and cheese and this didn't disappoint. The chicken was juicy and crispy. Good flavor. Hubby got the chicken sandwich, ate every bite. We order the seasonal beignets to go. Still yummy, but I think they would be better if we ate them there. Service was sweet and efficient. Ambiance was quaint, we ate outside. The sun was nice.

One meal was enough to feed me all day, and the Spanish coffee I got was mixed perfectly. Seats are extremely limited, but the service was super fast so even with a full plate you get in and out comfortably in under an hour. Other reviews mention rude service staff, but my experience was the total opposite. I wish I could've gotten her name to give her a shout-out. :) I do have to mention the lack of parking. There were still empty tables when the parking lot was already completely full. There were maybe eight parking spots altogether, but that would be my only complaint.

House made of course so it's even better than the store bought stuff in my opinion because it tastes like actual chocolate. I ordered the filet minion chicken fried steak and it was cooked to perfection. So juicy inside and crispy but not like overly cooked crispy on the outside! Topped with a hot gooey layer of house made sausage gravy. The overall size of this steak was about as big as my face. To complement this enormous steak was eggs, a biscuit & some smashed Yukon potatoes..like they were literally small potatoes they just smashed which was really different to me because I've never seen that before. I also had to order the infamous cinnamon roll pancake I been seeing floating around on other people's reviews. IT IS A MUST.. and if you are ordering it to take home make sure you have a piece of it while it's still hot and fresh because that was to die for. I won't go more into detail about it you just have to try it. It will speak for its self. Overall the dinning experience was great! Servers were more than happy to get you whatever you need. We sat at the bar so y'all should try their drinks because they looked so good and the bartenders looked like they were having fun making them. The restaurant is a literal house and while charming it is small and packed inside and the parking lot is also really small so you may need to get there early or expect to park somewhere else in the streets. We got there an hour after they opened and it was only a 30 minute wait thankfully. Will be coming back again to try other menu items!

The menu is huge, with a lot of interesting, slightly retro offerings. I went with the sausage patties with scrambled eggs and 3 buttermilk pancakes. My breakfast companion went with Eggs Benedict with hashbrowns. We shared a side of corned beef hash. We asked if we could have sausages on the Eggs Benedict instead of the Canadian bacon and, after checking with the kitchen, the waitress said it was just fine. The food was all delicious, with the eggs rich and buttery, the sausage patties huge and tasty and the pancakes excellent. The Eggs Benedict was decadent and flavorful, and the hashbrowns yummy as well. The corned beef hash was yummy and had a nostalgic flavor. The portions were huge, and we got two more breakfast servings this next morning. This place isn't cheap, but super fun for a special morning treat.

Y E L P : Fork Forty Food Hall Restaurant & Food Review…read more Ventured to Fork Forty Food Hall for lunch yesterday for the first time and I was pleasantly surprised. As food halls are all the craze, it was pretty cool to learn that Fork Forty is Salem's first food hall. It is a cozy food hall featuring six of Salem's best eateries in the historic Gray-Building - which I also learned is a building that has a long history of eateries that have occupied its spaces over the years. So, it's only natural that this food hall graced this historic building. What a unique legacy to be a part of. All that Google-worthy factoids aside, I must say, I really loved the industrial feel of the space. Loved the use of blacks and white - which allowed the food vendors signage to really stand out and pop against the darker field colors. Also, the food hall itself wasn't too busy - especially for lunchtime. So, that was great because the wait time for the food was minimal. The food hall was lively, clean and had ample seating. There is a water station with cups for patrons that want water only. There's also a bar within the food hall - so, if you wanted some libations with your eats, that was also an option. All in all, it's a great spot with various cuisines. There's enough to tickle your fancy pending what you have a taste for. Some of the cuisines range from Mexican, Asian, and Mediterranean cuisine to name a few. I opted for the Mexican vendor, Suzy's Taqueria, and I am so happy I went with them because they did not disappoint. The food was fresh and the price point was great!! Very affordable lunch prices. (**Visit Suzy's Taqueria page to see my review on their street tacos.**) Since this is a food hall, I didn't really interact with the staff as much. My order was placed at a kiosk - which had no wait time. Once my order was placed, the wait for the tacos to prepared was less than 10 minutes. The server brought them out to my table - which was my only interaction with the staff. So, that's about as much as I can speak on that. However, all interactions, though minimal, were very pleasant. For a first visit, I was pleased. I will definitely visit again before my departure from Salem to try out the bao spot or the pizzeria. Also, the history of it, is pretty cool!

Food is wonderful. People are friendly. And the vibe is great…read more My favorite is the pasta place. It's so good.
