The service here is always friendly, but if you don't speak Spanish, there might be a little language barrier. Food wise, everything here is great. From the quesadillas, to the steak burritos, to the menudo (so good!) this place definitely delivers. I know menudo isn't for everyone, but they make it so good here. This is a hidden gem with authentic Mexican food. I only found out about this place at a dinner party for a friend's birthday who had them cater the food. It was so good that when in the area I go there for lunch. All the food is good, with homemade chips and salsa and fresh ingredients. I like the fajitas and the burritos. Inexpensive with good service. I will keep coming back. Now this one comment is a bit strange, they have a wood burning oven that they also do pizza. I can't comment on it since I have not ordered any pizzas here. I may try it next time. read more

Came here on a Saturday night and they had live entertainment. A guy playing music and singing...loudly. Way too loud...we were sitting off the main dining area and it was still difficult to hold a conversation. They brought out chips and salsa. The chips seemed store bought...not freshly made and the salsas were not bad. I ordered tacos al pastor and I was not impressed. I have had better. The meat was tender but lacking flavor. It came with rice and refried beans. The rice was good, not mushy and had good texture. The refried beans were flavorless. The service was not very good. We had a young guy and he must have looked at my BF empty glass of tea about 10 times as he went back and forth and I finally asked him for a refill. I was really looking forward to trying this place out for some time now and I had high hopes. Will probably try it one more time to see if it was just an off night. read more

Being an El Paso, TX resident for 16 years, I KNOW Mexican food. Arrived here for brunch. The interior is nice, quaint and clean. We were seated promptly and our drinks as well. The waitress was knowledgeable and friendly. They brought out chips and 4 different salsas. I tried all of them; chipotle salsa was very tasty, the salsa verde was delicious and the salsa rosada was pretty good too. I was not a big fan of the pico de gallo as the tomatoes in it didn't taste very fresh. I ordered the huitlacoche (pronounced "wheat-la-co-cheh") quesadillas and I absolutely LOVED them! I also ordered the menudo which was very, very well made and very flavorful. Lots of places get menudo wrong, but Las Cazuelas gets it perfect! I am used to being served toasted white bread with menudo, but they served corn tortillas, so I was a little disappointed, but the menudo was so good I soon forgot about the lack of bread. The house coffee was decent, but they only serve powdered creamer or steamed milk, no half & half. It was a bit pricey for what I'm used to; in El Paso my meal would have been about $50 total, but then again, it's right by the border of Mexico. Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed my experience here at Las Cazuelas and this will most likely be my go-to location for Mexican food. read more

I had been here once before several years ago and the experience was not memorable because I had no opinion whether I should go back. It's within two miles of home so we decided to stop in. Came for an early dinner on a Thursday night. I asked for water and my companion got a beer. Oddly no water was brought to my guest. That should be standard when one person requests water, but no big deal. We decided to split the appetizer of chorizo with cheese and when we informed the waiter he tried to talk us out of it. I thought that was kind of strange and actually the appetizer was excellent. He left without taking our entree order. He asked if we wanted anything else when he delivered the appetizer and we said yes, and I ordered Enchilada Mole. Again this guy tried to talk me out of it asking if I'd ever had mole before, telling me that it was spicy and made with chocolate, chili and peanuts. I told him yes, I have had mole many times and yes I wanted what I ordered. The mole sauce was tasty as were the enchiladas themselves. I did not find it spicy at all. The beans were not good, they were runny purée with not a bean in them. Looked like they had gone through a blender, not refried. The rice also was not that good. Tossed with succotash (corn, lima beans) and tasteless. He was quick to offer my guest another beer. My water glass was empty and he asked if I wanted more? I said yes. He brought a carafe and poured me half a glass of water. Then he walked away and took the carafe with him. I thought that was weird, he should have left it or at least filled up my glass. I finished my water and he never came back to offer more. We sat for a while before he returned to offer dessert but we declined. We asked for the check and paid at the table with a POS machine. No receipt was offered. Will I be back? Maybe someday. I know now why I never thought to return after the first visit. Nothing remarkable here. There are a lot of options for Mexican a little further from home. read more

This place was average to me. From the outside, it's not appealing at all and only two cars parked which is usually a sign. Walked in, workers were doing accounting or payroll on a table in the middle of the room. Now for the food, the beans had no flavor whatsoever. I love beans but I couldn't eat them. The carnitas tacos were bland as well. We also ordered a torta which too wasn't really flavorful. Too much bread for the amount of meat provided. I honestly was not a fan at all. We wanted mexican and saw this place was highly rated. Not sure what happened but we won't be coming back. I probably would've had a better meal at Taco Bell. If u have diverse foodies in your home its the perfect spot to get the best of both worlds. Chips and salsa: standard with meals. The pico is delicious and fresh. They have this home made pink sauce that I've never tasted before and it is amazing. It's one of those put it on everything flavor!! Lunch, we went all out, since we weren't going to eat dinner we went for the shared giant trophy of molcajete. This is a mix of steak, chicken shrimp and ground beef with avocados, onions and all leaving on a bed of delicious and melted warm cheese it comes with a plate of sides, rice, tomatoes, lettuce and beans, tortillas are corn but u can ask for flour ones, those are my preference, and of course I love my sour cream. This plate is truly delicious and if U like authentic Mexican like we do u must try! Portion is enough for 2-3 ppl. We ate like a king and queen and I still had enough for the next day! Ask for the pink salsa to take home if u do have leftovers u won't regret it Dessert: we tried a Nutella calzone with ice cream that was ok. It has Nutella and pineapple not a fan of the flavor combo would have preferred a mix of bananas strawberries or something else. We were getting a little impatient but felt maybe it was going to be awesome Mexican food. The on the house chips and salsa were good. I enjoyed those but things took a bad turn when the entree arrived. I came here off of the online statement of "real Mexican food" but was very disappointed. My chilaquiles had old tortilla chips, was too sour because of the tomatillo sauce and the sour cream and there was no contrast in flavor. The beans that accompanied it also had no flavor. Lastly my rice was regular white rice with yellow food coloring and canned vegetables. My spouse got the tacos Al Pastor and we had to send the plate back. It had no seasoning, was tasteless, and the beans and rice were the same as mine. We are not the type to go out and when we don't like some thing we return the plate however we just could not eat the tacos. I made an attempt to finish the Chilaquiles but regret the calories now because it wasn't worth it. The staff for nice though and apologized for the food quality and offered me a replacement. I love Mexican food and I know whether the food is real good or not. This restaurant was clean attention was good and abundant parking. Tortilla chips do not come with the typical Mexican salsa. Instead they give you three bottles with sauce instead. That was a turn off as I have never seen that. Secondly, The beans serving was extremely small and there was no pico de gallo. Hola! I chose this place as my birthday dinner party location. Everyone loved it. The food was delicious! The portions were a good size. And the service was awesome! You can definitely see the family atmosphere when you enter. I arrived with a party of 20. The owner is also the chef. But the best part is the menu. You can choose from the Italian menu or the Mexican menu. No more arguing with others about where to go. This place is a two for one! The owner is of Mexican descent and worked several years in an Italian restaurant. My dinner party had several people who used wheelchairs and we all agreed the bathroom was wheelchair friendly. Luckily it's located in a shopping plaza with plenty of parking. I went on a Thursday but I was told that there's live music on Saturdays. I can't tell you which item to eat because everyone was happy with their food. So go over there with your family and friends! read more

I was a little skeptical when I saw that they now combine Las Cazuelas with the owner's Italian restaurant but I wanted to have some good Mexican food like I remembered it to be. The place was empty when I walked in at 6:30 PM on a Thursday. We were seated by a less than enthusiastic server. You could definitely tell that he didn't want to be there. Not my problem, don't take it out on your tables. Upon ordering we wanted just simple ground beef tacos. We asked the server who told us that that was available. We also ordered the tacos al pastor after the waiter told us that it would be a good option. The waiter brought us chips and guacamole which were pretty average. The guacamole tasted store brought and all they did was add a bunch of big pieces of onion and tomatoes to it. When our food got there, my girlfriend noticed after her first bite of her ground beef tacos that it tasted odd. With the second bite she realized that the so called chef here decided to put ITALIAN STYLE ground beef instead of MEXICAN flavored beef. Like the meat sauce that is used for lasagne on her tacos. My tacos al pastor were lackluster. They must have run out of pineapple as there was probably about 2 tiny pieces on my tacos. A dish that is usually pretty flavorful was completing lack flavor. I don't know what exactly happen here but I could of never imagined that such a good authentic Mexican restaurant would serve food like this. Needless to say, I will never return to this establishment. Not only because of the food but also because of the horrible service. This is a Mexican-Italian fusion gone very wrong. Las Cazuelas and L'Incontro are literally two restaurants, with two separate menus (flip one over and you get the other) in the same building. This was very confusing to me since I have previously dined at Las Cazuelas when it stood solo, but both myself and my fiancé thought this was a cool concept. If half of the group wants Italian and the other half wants Mexican, well, this is the perfect place. The restaurant is styled like a local Italian pizza parlor; very basic and nothing exciting. The table we sat at was clean as were the menus. The background music was all old classics like Dean Martin, Sinatra and some old Italian favorites. (We liked the music). The service was top notch. We were greeted as soon as we walked in around 6:50pm on a Saturday night and by 7:30 we had the check and we were walking out. The service was quick, friendly and efficient. Both my fiancé and I opted for Mexican. They brought chips, pico and three sauces. The chips were hot and tasty; the pico was okay. I make it WAY better and I've had better at other local Mexican restaurants. You can tell they made it a day or two ago because the tomatoes had that weird texture like when they are kept chilled for too long. The sauces were interesting. Good, but they were missing something. My fiancé ordered the special which was Lengua Tacos (tongue) and I ordered the Steak Fajitas. The food came out pretty fast (10 minutes), it was hot, and the portions were well sized based on the price. This place isn't the best Mexican in Kendall, but it was good (3 1/2). I would return. So truth be told we came here after a friend recommended the restaurant and then we find out if she wrote a review she would get a dessert so we were weary at first. Boy were we in for a wonderful surprise. She deserved the dessert because she was right everything was DELICIOUS plus the service was wonderful too. It's a quaint place. To begin with we probably would not of come here because the restaurant offers both authentic Mexican food and Italian so we were not sure of how good it could it really be when the variety was so different. Well we were happy wrong. We tried the "molcajete" which was extremely authentic Mexicans. We will most definitely be returning and bring others. The food here is pretty authentic... great flavors and fresh ingredients. I had the "sopes de tinga" which is a corn cake with shredded chicken on top plus sour cream and lettuce and they were great. The tortilla soup is also a very yummy addition to your meal (it is pretty big so you can definitely share). The sauces they provide on the table are very very yummy. There's a chipotle, salsa verde (it's spicy), and a yogurt chipotle style sauce. Unfortunately the service wasn't all that great which makes me so sad. A great restaurant with great food but not so great servers. Everyone just seemed under the weather and sad to be there. Wish they were more enthusiastic or at least had smiles on their faces. If I hadn't seen their sign advertising tacos and burritos near the exit of the Publix on 120th Street, I would not have known there was a new Mexican restaurant in the Kendall Breeze Shopping Center! I decided to stop by and see what this place was all about. It's a small little restaurant - not much going on in regards to decorations. Most of the tables are two seaters, and there are a couple of tables that can seat four. I was greeted and handed a laminated menu. There are lots to choose from - tacos, burritos, enchiladas, chilaquiles, tortas, etc - I decided to go for a 3 taco platter. Good thing is that you can choose three different types of tacos instead of having three of one kind. I choose the chorizo, bistec, and al pastor taco platter - which comes with rice and beans (but I got all rice, no beans). As I waited for my food to cook (which took about 6-8 minutes, the employee gave me a side of chips, green salsa, and pico de gallo to munch on and water to drink while I wait (that was pretty nice of them). Onto the food: the tacos were on corn tortillas (you can substitute the corn with flour, which is a plus for the husband who hates corn tortillas) and were garnished with the usual cilantro and onions. All of the tacos had a lot of great flavor, but seemed a little on the dry side. I'm surprised at the amount of good flavor the meats had though. The rice, on the other hand, was pretty bland. This place is opened for breakfast, lunch and dinner, and the prices are on the cheap to decent side - and it's not bad considering the amount of food you get. The three taco platter that came with rice and beans was $8.95! I would come back to try more items on the menu. read more

Finding myself in this area due to having my car serviced, I was craving Mexican food and saw a sign on a chain link fence for this restaurant. I walked in and the interior was rather drab, but I decided I should probably judge based on the food so I did not want to jump to conclusions. Scanning the menu, I saw the prices were very affordable, so already, that made a good impression. The choices were okay, they could have been better, but at that price, you cannot ask for more. By the way, they don't have drink refills, so either order water, or ration your drink carefully. They do bring complimentary chips and salsa to the table, though the salsa was somewhat watery, and the chips didn't seem homemade. I ordered fajitas and must say, I was a bit disappointed. Whereas other restaurants give you guacamole, red peppers, shredded cheese and lettuce, here I just got green peppers, onions, and chicken strips. To make matters worse, the chicken was flavorless. No seasonings at all, other than salt. I added hot sauce but even that didn't do much for my meal. My friend's steak was also lacking taste. It just seemed like someone threw some chicken strips and pepper strips in a pan and sauteed them. The rice was like something out of an Uncle Ben's box. None of the staff that day was Mexican, and the food certainly was not authentic Mexican food. You get more authentic food at Lime, for what it's worth. If you want a cheap meal, without caring about its authenticity, then come here, but don't expect much flavor. You get what you pay for, I guess... read more

The owner must be a big movie fan, as the walls are covered with pictures of Mexican movie stars (at least they look like movie stars to a gringo). Festive papel picado banners gives the restaurant a more "Mexican" look. We tried some tacos and a menudo (beef tripe soup). Food was good, not great, but service was really slow on a weekday lunch. I was not expecting fast food, but I felt lucky I didn't have to make it back to work afterwards, as we waited so long for food to come and then for the check. The tortilla chips was stale too. Had lunch here with the girls. Have to say fantastic place for a quick, flavorful, and filling lunch. It was 5 of us and right away they brought us chips with three different sauces. I am a sauce person so I enjoyed this so much. We all ordered tacos but my friend had fish tacos, the other campenchana taco (I believe its a combination of steak and chorizo) the others had steak, chicken, and then I ordered the carnitas and pastor....I was very happy with both. I love it when tacos are authentic and dont come with extra stuff like lettuce tomato and shredded cheese. It was simple with cilantro and onion and the flavors of the pork. My lunch was very satisfying, tasted great and priced right. Definitely coming back here for another great lunch. read more

I'll open the review with the fact that each table here has a menu for an Italian restaurant.... Yes. Italian. Waiter said the owner also has an Italian place and this is his way of promoting it. -___- it's silly. I grew up in Mexico so reviewing Mexican restaurants.... :/ Walked in and the waiter pointed to the ONE table we could sit at bc he was mopping. Restaurant was empty. Waitress came up to offer drinks and we ordered guac. I asked how big the huaraches were and she explained it was a "tortilla" with stuff on top. I know that's not right but I give her he benefit of the doubt and ask her how thick the masa is and she's like "it's thin. The sopes are thick. This is a huarache, it's not the same." Ok. Fine. A little snooty (and wrong) but it's ok. I ordered 3 sopes. FOOD: - sopes were on a THIN masa which made them impossible to grab with your hands and eat. Everything would fall everywhere. 100% not how sopes are supposed to be. - carnitas sope was pretty good, can't complain, nice and crispy. - Pastor sope was wack. Not at all how al pastor tastes like but what did I expect. - steak sope was NASTY. Meat was very chewy and kind of burnt. Tasted like dry old meat. -guac: eh. Needed more lime, salt and didn't even have jalapeño in it. - salsas aren't homemade -chips aren't homemade ENVIRONMENT - throw some pictures of old famous Mexicans on the wall and you got yourself a Mexican restaurant! HAHAHAH - the Italian menus... Weird. SERVICE - waitress was dry. Nothing special, saw her once. Waiters face was BLANK when I told him the steak seemed a little dry. No comment, nothing. Just grabbed the plate and left. He later took it off the check. PRICE -ok. Could be better with the Mediocre food they're serving -$14 for 2 sopes and a small guac? For Mexican in Kendall I'd go with rancho grande. Skip this place since the owner is too busy running two restaurants to focus solely on making at least one of them good. read more
