I've eaten at this restaurant twice and both times, they have added an additional tip to my credit card. This was for one person the first time and two people the second time, ordering from the lunch menu so we didn't order a large amount that would constitute an additional gratuity. Our bill came to about 38.00 + tax on Sunday 9/10/2017 and I left a 5 dollar tip. When I checked my credit card statement, it was for 51.99. Was starved after a long day of travel from Denver. Came here based on Yelp rankings, and was happily satisfied. Good chicken burritos and tacos a la carte. Did not need the side of rice I ordered but ate it anyway with salsa verde! Nice and friendly staff. Went there for a big 21st birthday party. Party was great, food was a complete disaster. I tried the Cancun Special that has grilled chicken (lots of chicken) and shrimp (3 little shrimp) smothered with nacho cheese (disgusting) and I couldn't find the rice or beans. My wife had the Chiles Poblanos (mostly raw) with special cream sauce that was most likely poured out of a jar. Cousin had the chicken Burrito Deluxe, best of the three but certainly nothing to brag about. The salsa & chips were fresh. The beer cold and the service slow and sporadic at best. I have been going to E'town for many years. The restaurants can be alright,but ....... Then we found Las Chalupas! Now,when I know we're going to be there I start looking forward to this restaurant. They are so friendly,and make you feel right at home. You are absolutely safe ordering any of their chicken dishes .They use all tender white meat that seems like it was cooked with love. I am not easily impressed w/Mexican restaurants. I realize now I wanted food that tasted like this. Go! You'll like it. 1 advisory- maybe I shouldn't write this, but.... it seems to me this hard working restaurant is not appreciated by local law enforcement. (Could it be a bit of racism?) Had really good service tonight. The food came out quick and the waiter was very friendly. I had the chipotle enchiladas and they were really good. The chips were really fresh and tasted great. I recommend this restaurant to anyone wanting a great meal with great service. read more

Stopped to eat here with my family and all I can say is horrible completely and absolutely horrible I ordered the ribeye and waiter was not sure what the food was on the menu and I don't think he knew a word of English. My (ribeye) was ordered medium and when I received my steak I new right off the bat that the steak was an imposter and so skinny I was shocked! Their charbroiled is more a baked from what I can tell. Poor wait service and we were tone deaf from the blaring televisions that all 15 to 20 workers were huddled around. From this experience alone I will not return to this restaurant again with my family. read more

I've been to Las Chalupas several times and have never been disappointed. They have absolutely the best chips & salsa of any Mexican restaurant around Bardstown, Shepherdsville, Elizabethtown. Last Sunday, I took 2 quite elderly, handicapped women, to lunch at Las Chalupas. One woman is 91; the other has MS and has difficulty walking on a walker. Both love Mexican; both were thrilled. The staff was very courteous & helpful. The 91 year old lady has very poor vision & is blind in 1 eye, but the waiters helped her & made sure we were all happy. Both ladies had the beef taco salad & were very happy with them, especially the shells! I had a chicken chimichanga, which was stuffed with peppers & onions along with very tasty chicken. This is our go to place for Mexican food in E-town unless we want enchiladas (we go to El Acapulco @ 952 W Dixie Ave.) Great food, fast service, and cold beer! We've haven't had a problem with our food or the service. read more

Stayed in town overnight and ended up here for one of the better meals of our trip. Great enchiladas and 99 cent cold beers. Very clean and what a plate full of food. Not a drive by place . I could have done without two of the workers making out while they were folding napkins. Get a room!!! read more

The food and waiter was both very good. But the strawberry margaritas are a little strong. Just straight up tequila.

Our office ordered lunch and none of our orders were correct. If you want overpriced food, overcooked rice, skimpy cheese on your items loaded with watered down Ragu sauce then this is the place! We will NEVER order from there again. read more

This is the best Mexican restaurant in Elizabethtown. It's close to the interstate (I 65) and to Ring Road. The severs are always kind, but there have been times when communication can be a problem. For example, I got a Jim [Beam] and tonic after having order a gin-and-tonic! Oh well,...more importantly the food is always good especially the chicken burritos. read more

I went here on the recommendation of a good friend and it was fantastic! Living in So Cal, we have more than our fair share of good Mexican food, but it's different. This reminded me of the Tex-Mex I grew up on, which I miss a lot. This scratched that itch. The beef burrito was flavorful and wonderful with just the right mix of sour cream, lettuce, tomatoes and rancheros sauce. The rice was also quite tasty, not heavy which can happen with Mexican rice. The beans were not over seasoned. My friend's chile relleno was fantastic. Overall, pretty fabulous. Thank you for being a great and honest establishment. read more

This was the WORST Mexican food I have EVER had. I am from Hawaii, land of crappy Mexican food, and this was still worse than anything I have ever tasted. I ordered the "supreme" quesadillas. They were so greasy that the fat was literally pouring out of the tortillas. I couldn't eat one of the quesadillas because the grease made it too soggy to even attempt. Another member of our party ordered a chicken quesadilla and it was literally tortilla, a little bit of cheese, and incredibly bland chicken. There were no onions or anything to make the flavor even remotely interesting. It was also incredibly ugly. The third person in our party ordered a combination plate which consisted of a taco, an enchilada, and a tostada. The taco meat was flavorless and the enchilada was also awful. The tostada was...well, it was so disgusting and strange looking that we actually had to ask the waiter what it was. We thought that perhaps there was some sort of mix-up. It looked like a tortilla buried in some sort of scary sausage gravy. I have never seen anything like it. The waiter assured us that it would be delicious. He lied. Anyway, the only thing here that was any good was the beer. I will never be back and I suggest that you avoid it, too. GAH-ROSS!!! read more
